the night was soft, mostly quiet; the sounds of cars and the occasional siren in the gentle distance as a crescent moon shone down with its pale light. nadja's boot-clad feet were quiet against the posh floor of the apartment, her firearm a dark shape on a dark shape as she slid about the apartment as a ghost. she'd noted this residence many times before, on her way to work, never hitting it due to it being directly on the route. even so however, temptation was a powerful thing, and the temptation to take what was not deserved from the undeserving was far too great even for her. as it were, the place was absolutely a goldmine in terms of what she saw as depravity. the stained wood, the sheer number of windows, even a fucking tea station. things of expensive nature, with a hell of a view to boot. it sickened her on the inside, people living like this while so many others were suffering with barely even a third of this. it was horrendous, a symbol of the things wrong with the state of things. the door to the bedroom creaked open and shut once more as she stepped inside, clad in black leathers and a bandana, firearm holstered in the hip as she made short work of a safe's lock. sifting through the contents she felt her stomach drop more; money, jewels, hell there were a few old pieces of memorabilia in there. gloved hands began to count the sheer amount of physical dollar bills stored here. an emergency stash? it didn't matter to her. too much. all too much. then her ears picked it up. the sound of the bedroom door opening once again; fuck. whoever occupied this place had come back earlier than anticipated; snapping to a standing position, the firearm quickly left her hip as she aimed in the sound's direction. she supposed, an open robbery would have to do rather than quiet professional theft.
