All Caps Flash Square Filled:Â Playful Relationship

Cast of Characters: Sam Wilson and Bucky BarnesÂ
Summary: Sam and Bucky are put in charge of moving equipment from the old Avengers HQ to the new one.Â
âHere, I got you a coffee.â Sam said as he handed Bucky a paper cup. They were on a road trip reluctantly helping Tony move some things from the old Avengers Tower to the New Compound. Theyâd been on the road for just under an hour and had to stop for gas.
âDid you put in on the company card?â Bucky asked as Sam started the car. âThen you didnât really get me a coffee. Stark did.â Still, he brought the plastic lid to his lips. Sam was just pulling out of the gas station when he saw Bucky spitting out the window.
âDid you just spit out the window? What are you, fifteen?â He demanded.
âWhat the hell is this?â Bucky gestured to the paper cup.
âGas station coffee, man.â Sam laughed. âItâs not the best but itâs also not poison. You canât be spitting out of the car like that, itâs obscene.â
âNo.â Bucky shook his head. âNo, whatâs obscene is giving a man straight black coffee from a gas station.â He grimaced.
âMy bad.â Sam shrugged. âI just figured black coffee goes along with your wholeâŚya know.â Sam waved his right hand around dramatically. âVibe.â
âMy vibe? Thatâs not how you order a damn coffee, Wilson.â Bucky grumbled. He dropped the coffee down in an empty cup holder. This caused hot coffee to splash in every direction, with a small amount even landing on Samâs hand.
âWill you settle down?â Sam hissed, shaking his burnt hand. âI swear my nephews behave better on road trips. Thereâs cream and sugar in the bag.â Sam pointed to a small paper bag between them.
âYou should have just said that in the first place.â Bucky pouted. âOhâŚI think we were supposed to take that exit.â Bucky announced when it was too late and Sam had already missed the turn.
âYou have the GPS. What do you mean you think?â Sam hissed.
âHang on! Let me check!â Bucky snapped. âPeople these days always in a rushâŚâ
âIn a rush?â Sam huffed. âYou made us miss the turn with your coffee drama.â
âAlright!â Bucky raised his voice. âIâm looking.â
âWell look faster!â Sam snapped.
âYou can still take the next exit.â Bucky huffed. âJust turn hereâŚI said turn here!â
âIf you raise your voice at me one more timeâŚâ Sam mumbled under his breath.
âYou asked me for directions, Iâm giving you the directions!â Bucky argued.
âWell, you can stop now!â Sam complained.
âFine. I wonât say another word.â Bucky shook his head. A beat passed, he reached for his cup again. He took a sip. âThis coffee sucks.â

On The Fourth of July
On The Fourth of July
Words: 1818
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Summary:Â Being an Avenger isnât easy. There are a lot of bad days with tough calls. So Reader does their best to make sure every Avengerâs birthday is special. Captain Steve Rogers doesnât much care for birthday celebrations, so Reader along with some help from Bucky and Tony plan a low key birthday for the Star Spangled Man.Â
Birthdays were your thing. Tony had fancy gadgets. Peter and Scott had sarcasm and comedic timing. You had birthdays. Well, technically you only had one birthday a year, but celebrating birthdays was important to you. You kept a calendar with everyoneâs birthdays on it and it was updated with every new recruit. You always tried to plan events catered to what each member of the team would want. Your birthday parties were loved, revered even! Loved by everyone except a certain Captain that is.
Steve was the one of the few Avengers who didnât want you to make a big deal about his birthday. You couldnât imagine why, he looked incredible for a guy who was over a hundred. Unfortunately for him, he also shared a birthday with the country. Yes, the Captain Americaâs birthday is on the fourth of July. That typically meant that whether he wanted to or not there was always a big July fourth bash of some kind.
This year, you decided to try and throw Steve a metaphorical bone and give him a year off. You enlisted the help of the party king himself, Tony Stark. While Tony threw his usual grand backyard barbeque at Clintâs house for the rest of the team, you and Bucky would spend the day with Steve celebrating his birthday in the low key way he always wanted to. The morning of the big day, you knocked on the Captainâs dorm room door.
âDonât worry, [Y/N],â Steve laughed as he answered the door. âIâm not trying to skip out on my own birthday party. Iâll be ready to go in a few minutes.â
âActually, this year you are. There will be no Independence Day soiree for us, Steve.â You explained. âWeâre starting the day with one of your favorite activities, running! So put your gym clothes on and meet me at the track!â

Trending Cap
Words: 843
Pairing: Sam Wilson X Reader
Also Staring: Bucky Barnes
Summary: When Reader finds out Sam, as the new Captain America, isn't planning on doing anything special to celebrate 4th of July she suggests he recreates a viral TikTok trend. With the help of Reader and Bucky, Sam adds his own twist to the trend to great success.
âSo, what are you doing for the fourth, Sam Eagle?â You asked the newly minted Captain America. You tossed yourself onto his couch and made yourself comfortable in his Washington, DC apartment.
âWho the hell is Sam Eagle?â Sam laughed.
âHeâs a Muppet.â Bucky supplied as he walked into the kitchen carrying a six pack of beers. âHeâs an eagle Muppet whoâs whole personality is freedom and loving America. You have wings and youâre Captain America now. Also, your name is Sam. Itâs a very funny joke.â He assured.
âNow you expect me to believe you know who the Muppets are?â Sam shook his head as Bucky began packing his beers into the fridge.
âI have a television in my apartment.â Bucky reminded him.
âTo answer your question, [Y/N], this is what Iâm doing. Sarahâs taking the boys off on a long weekend trip so I invited my two friends over and Iâm going to cook some food, weâre going to hang out.â Sam shrugged. âWhat more could I want?â
âOk, but I meant more like what are you doing as Captain America?â You clarified. âLike I know Steve used to go way over the top because it was his birthday and all, but are you not even going to post like a Cap meme or TikTok dance or anything?â
âA TikTok dance?â Sam chuckled.
âWhy not?â You shrugged. âMaybe not a dance, but thereâs this audio thatâs been getting pretty popular.â
You reached for your phone which was dangling precariously off the edge of Samâs coffee table. You opened the TikTok app and searched for the audio you wanted. Once you found it you played it for Bucky and Sam. The Audio started with the Star-Spangled Singerâs singing the verse of The Star Spangled Man with a Plan, the song from Steveâs old USO shows. Once the audio reached the line âWe canât ignore thereâs a front and a war we must winâ the background music changed to a more modern beat mixed with Samâs very recent speech âI know there are millions of people who are going to hate me for it. Even now, here, I feel it. The stares, the judgement, and thereâs nothing I can do to change it. And Iâm still here. No super serum. No. Blonde hair or blue eyes. The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.â
âThe trend is sort of a way to celebrate you as the new Cap.â You explained. âWhat most people do is theyâll do something like wear 1940âs fashion until the part where the music changes and then they switch to modern clothes. There are also some pretty impressive cosplays on here with homemade suits. For those typically its someone who starts out in a replica Steve suit and ends in a replica of yours. Usually theyâll act all hokey and exaggerated during the first bit and switch to a very serious lip-sync when it gets to the Captain Sam part.â
â[Y/N]âs right.â Bucky commented as he scrolled through TikTok on his own phone. âWalker might not be the only one you have to fight for the shield. These are some pretty impressiveâŚwhat did you call them?â
âCosplayers.â You supplied.
âDress up people.â Bucky nodded.
âAlright, youâve convinced me.â Sam nodded. âBut the two or you have to help me.â
âPerfect! Iâve always wanted to raid your closet!â Câmon Buck, you can be my onset 1940s fashion consultant.â You dragged him towards Samâs bedroom.
â[Y/N]! Donât even think about taking one of my flannel shirts!â Sam called after you.
âTwo shirts it is then!â You shouted back.
With Buckyâs help you were able to piece together a presentable 1940s stye outfit from Samâs closet. The outfit consisted of Khaki slacks, a brown belt, brown leather shoes and a brown and beige stripped shirt. The collar wasnât exactly wide enough for the time, Bucky wanted to point out, but it would do in a pinch. Luckily the wallpaper in the living room of Samâs apartment looked ancient. It probable hadnât been updated since the 1920âs let alone the 40s.
So, you positioned Sam in a corner of the room where most of his modern amenities were out of sight and filmed him dancing and mouthed along to the Star Spangled Man song. When the music stopped you stopped filming. Sam changed most of the way into his cap suit. He gave you the signal and you began filming. Sam added on pieces to his outfit, like his wings, and his goggles while repeating his speech. When he reached his final line âI believe we can do better.â He looked directly into the camera. You held his gaze for a second before cutting off the recording.
âPeople are going to love it, Sam.â You told him confidently.
âWeâll see I guess.â He took his phone from you and added his own caption to the video. âWanted to get in on the trend. Have a safe and happy 4th of July.â He added in a few hashtags before posting the video.
âNow will the two of you let me enjoy the rest of my day in peace?â Sam asked setting his phone down.
âI donât know, I kind of want to see you make a Sam Eagle TikTok now that [Y/N] has put that idea in my head.â Bucky announced.
âThis is my place.â Sam reminded you both. âI can kick you out any time.â
âI was promised cold beer and free food. Iâm not leaving until I get both.â Bucky insisted. âAnd donât bother asking if Iâd throw hands with Captain America because we both know you wouldnât be the first or even the second to find out that answer is yes.â Bucky sat down on the couch youâd once occupied. Sam had a witty retort prepped and ready to fire, but his phone began to buzz in his hand.
âOur TikTokâs got a like.â He shared proudly. His phone buzzed again. âOh another one!â
âThereâs a few comments too.â Bucky said. ââWelcome to the App Capâ and âItâs the 40âs fit for me.â [Y/N], what does fit mean?â
Within minutes Samâs phone was booming with notifications. They were happening so frequently he had to set the sound to completely silent just so he could hear himself think. There were a few negative comments. Someone had dredged out the classic âNot My Capâ hashtag, but overall the response was positive. After twenty-four hours the video had over 500 thousand likes and ten thousand comments.
â[Y/N], you want a job as my social media/PR?â Sam jokingly texted you the next morning. âBut seriously, it was a good idea. Thanks for the assist.â
âAnything for you, Cap.â You replied back. âYou can pay me back with dinner next Saturday night. Iâm still dreaming of last nightâs dinner. Oh also, I stole a flannel from your closet.â You added a winking emoji before sending Sam a photo of you wearing his flannel shirt.
âItâs yours.â He replied. âThat shirtâs never looked so good.â
âI can think of one place it might look better. Youâre floor.â You sent, trying to sound flirty.
âThatâs probably where you found it in the first place.â He messaged back with a series of laugh emojis. âYou can return it if you want.â
âYouâre so oblivious!â You told him with an eyeroll emoji. âThe shirt is mine, andâŚâ But before you could send another reply a new message from Sam came through.
âIâm just joking. Are you free tomorrow for dinner?â He wanted to know.
âWe just had dinner together yesterday.â You reminded him.
âNow whoâs oblivious? You have to eat every day donât you? And Bucky wont be at this dinner.â He texted back all in one message.
âOhhhhhh.â You typed several extra âHâs to emphasize your realization. âIâll see you at 6, your place.â

Pairing: Sam Wilson x Reader
Timeline: Avengerâs Endgame
Request:Â âSam Wilson x reader endgame reunion? When everyone from the snap comes back?â - Anon
Authorâs Note: Itâs not terribly long, but I imagine a mid-battle reunion wouldnât be very long anyhow. Iâm thinking that I should do a post battle follow up scene that maybe had Reader and Sam interact a little more? Let me know what you think.
âAnd here I was thinking weâd finally had a win.â You hissed through the comms as you crawled out of ten-foot-deep trench. âShouldâve known it wouldnât be that easy.â
âYouâre calling this easy?â Clintâs voice panted back in your earpiece. You chuckled and brushed yourself off. Now that you were free of the ditch, you got a good look at the scene before you.
Historically the Avengers were almost always outnumbered in battle. From their very first mission against the Chitauri, when it was only the six founding members, theyâd built a bit of a reputation for working best under pressure. Or as Steve so often put it; winning when it really mattered. It seemed fitting, if not slightly laughable, that in the fight to end all fights you would all stand shoulder to shoulder completely outnumbered again. After all, Tony had once said years ago, this is the endgame.

Fighting Dragons With You (Pt 5)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 /Â
Words: 1291
Cast of Characters: Young!Leia, Obi Wan Kenobi & Reader Â
Summary: Following the shocking revelation that Anakin is still alive, Reader gives Obi-Wan space and time to process this information. It turns out to be a day of revelations when Reader shares something with Obi-Wan that he has long felt in the force but never discussed.Â
You were just as shaken by the Inquisitorâs announcement as Obi-Wan. After all heâd been the one to tell you that Anakin had died on Mustafar. You didnât know if it was numbness or self-preservation that had enabled you to get Obi-Wan and yourself to the transport on time. Even knowing that you were alone on the transport and safe, for now, you couldnât allow yourself to rest. Not when Obi-Wan was staring out into the vastness of space like that. The guilt, grief and pain pulsing through the cargo hold the three of you were encapsulated in.
âLeia, why donât we take a look at LOLA together?â You suggested, moving the young girl and yourself away. You could tell that Leia wanted to know what was wrong with her new friend, but the prospect of fixing her old one was enough to divert her attention temporarily. Obi-Wan sank to his knees and began to meditate.
You set Leia up on a tall stack of crates. The stack next to her was comprised of larger flatter containers which would make a fine workbench. You searched around hoping to find a small toolkit. Even one for emergency repairs would have the simple tools youâd need to fix LOLA.
âIs Ben going to be, okay?â She asked quietly. You followed her gaze over your shoulder wondering how big of a lie you ought to tell. You couldnât very well tell the ten-year-old princess of a utopian planet that every outside of her planet, and even some on it, were very much not okay. âOkayâ was a relative term these days anyway.
âYes.â You answered. âHe found out some upsetting news and heâs going to need some time to process it. Weâre going to give him space so that he can do that, alright?â
You found a tool kit. It was missing a spanner or two but looked to be otherwise complete. You assessed your patient. Youâd have to partially disassemble LOLA and see just how extensive the damage was before you could even begin to put her back together. Working with your hands after being and educator for so long felt awkward. Your fingers kept tripping over each other. Like they were attempting a dance theyâd long forgotten the steps to. Â
Your mind wandered right where you didnât want it to. Anakin was alive. You stole a glance over at Leia, whose eyes continued to drift with concern to Obi-Wan whenever she thought you werenât looking. Did Anakin know about the twins? Was he looking for them now? Had he gone first to his family on Tatooine? His family who remained unprotected because Obi-Wan was there with you. Had he gone to Alderaan? Should you contact Bail with a warning?
âOuch!â You jump back. Somehow your fumbling fingers had managed to cross to wires that ought to be kept apart. A slight burn had formed on one of your thumbs.
âYou never were much for mechanics.â Obi-Wan commented, walking towards you. You hadnât noticed him end his meditation. âPerhaps I should take over the mending from here?â He suggested.
âAll yours.â You agreed.
âWhat does it feel like,â Leia asked, staring at the meditation spot Obi-Wan had just vacated. âThe Force?â
You opened your mouth not sure how to answer. Youâd long assumed that when the time came, youâd have some prepared speech. Maybe archived reading materials. Youâd be prepared. But here? On a droid-piloted cargo junker zooming through space? You were not prepared at all.
âHave you ever been afraid of the dark?â Obi-Wan asked, looking up from his project. Leia looked back at him and nodded. âHow does it feel when you turn on the light?â
âI feel safe.â Leia answered quietly.
âIt feels like that.â Obi-Wan told her.
Not long after that Obi-Wan had managed to finish fixing LOLA. The young princess, all too eager to see her friend alive and well, took the small disk droid off to a private corner still within your sight but out of earshot. Obi-Wan stood next to you. The two of you were as alone as you were ever going to be.
âI love you.â You whispered, unable to look at him. âI know I shouldnât say it and maybe itâs the shock talking but I always have. Iâve loved you since the first time we met when you let me borrow your cloak in the rain. Anakin wasnât much older that Leia then. Youâd only been his Master for two or so years. I told myself it would go away eventually. But there were always small things. Youâd accidentally brush your hand against mine during dinner. You and Anakin would happen to be training in the same part of the temple as me. I began to wonder, foolishly maybe, if you felt the same way.â
â[Y/N], IâŚâ He started to say but you interrupted him.
âItâs alright. Iâm not looking for an answer from you. I justâŚâ You sigh. âI have to have something to hope for.â
âI always wondered why I never got my cloak back from you.â He smirked, giving nothing away.
The three of you rode the rest of the way in an unsettle quiet. Neither you nor Obi-Wan spoke with each other. Only commented occasionally on this or that to Leia. The princess was mostly occupied by chatting with LOLA. Telling the droid about all the exploits sheâd missed out on thus far. Soon enough the novelty of the droid began to wear off and like any youngling far from home on a long journey, Leia grew impatient. She began asking how much longer and if youâd arrived yet.
âYouâll know when weâve arrived because weâll be getting off.â Obi-Wan told her at last in a huffy tone. Leia sulked for the next hour or so, until Obi-Wan got to his feet. âWe better get ready. He announced. âWeâre on approach.â
You watched through one of the viewports as the rocky landscape of Mapuzo became larger. Still technically a dessert planet like Tatooine with sandy terrain, at least Mapuzo could boast a sparse vegetation of small dry trees and tufts of even dryer grass. Your ship docked at an outpost already being patrolled by Stormtroopers. You could only hope the news of Daiyu hadnât yet traveled here.
Heavy droids entered and began offloading cargo. The operation was mostly overseen by a large yellow Loader Droid. The only two visible Stormtroopers were more like anti-theft deterrents than a functional security. Following Obi-Wanâs lead you were able to easily sneak around the back of the transport. The three of you disappeared off into the horizon.
âCoordinates say our meeting point is further North.â Obi-Wan declared when there was enough distance between you and the troopers to speak in normal tones. âThat is if our new friend was telling the truth.â
âWhy would he lie?â Leia asked.
âBecause,â Obi-Wan sighed. âPeople are not all good Leia.â
âHow far out are we from civilization?â You asked, looking around. âI remember the holos at the temple showed green fields for miles. Surely if weâre out past all of that weâre well out into the wilderness.â
âThere are no fields anymore.â Obi-Wan replied, a slight edge to his tone. âNo more fields. No more families. Mapuzo is nothing more than mining colony now. Thanks to the Empire.â
âI thought the Empire was supposed to be helping us.â Leia looked to you. Then so did Obi-Wan.
âI can only teach her what the Galactic Empire curriculum allows.â You reminded him. âAt least for now. Bail is in a precarious enough position with the senate. Radicalizing his daughter would only make things harder for him.â
âI doubt thereâll be any helping it after this.â He mumbled.

No Place Like Home (Pt 47)
Words: 1903
Pairing: Ted Lasso x Reader             Â
Summary: With the final game of the season creeping up on the team, Roy hasnât been playing at his best. Rumors are circulating, and most of the coaching team is ready to bench him. But as is always the case, the Head Coach wants to do things his own way. The situation is pulling Reader into three different directions.Â
âMorning Beard!â You greeted the assistant coach when you and Ted met up with him at the bottom of your street for your morning walk to the Dog Track.
âMorning [Y/N],â Beard smiled back.
âMorninâ Coach.â Ted chimed in. Beard ignored him. âI saidâŚoh, weâre still doinâ this?â
âWhatâs going on with you two?â You asked. It wasnât like Beard to give Ted the cold shoulder. It wasnât like him to flat out ignore anyone.
âCoach is upset with me because he and Nate think we ought to bench Roy. I disagree.â Ted explained. âSo now heâs giving us the cold shoulder.â
âHeâs not giving us the cold shoulder. Heâs giving you the cold shoulder.â Â You pointed out. âAnd I know that no one asked, but I agree with Beard and Nate. The team has younger and faster players. Do you really think Roy plays as well as Sam or Dani these days?â
âWell, thatâs not exactly the pointâŚâ Ted argued.
âHuh.â Beard scoffed. Ted looked over at his friend who glared back. âI said what I said.â Beardâs eyes conveyed.
âWell⌠what does Roy think?â You asked. âI mean heâs been a footballer most of his life. He has to know the other guys outperform him.â
âOâ course he knows! But I still donât think itâs right to force him into something he ainât ready to do.â Ted huffed. âTaking Roy off the starting line up? That could be the end of his career. Of his livelihood.â
âI understand that but TedâŚâ You comprehended Tedâs point about forcing Royâs hand, but he had to remember that he wasnât just the coach for one player. He had to decide what was right for the whole team.
âIâm done talkinâ about it. I made up my mind and thatâs that!â Ted exclaimed. You looked over at Beard, who simply shook his head. Clearly, heâd already exhausted his own energy trying to persuade Ted the day before.
When the three of you arrived at Nelson Road you went your separate ways. Ted climbed the stairs towards Rebeccaâs office while Beard went right into the locker room and presumably the managerâs office. You headed to Keeleyâs office and sat cross-legged in one of her cushy chairs.
âI talked to Rebecca this morning.â She announced as you let yourself in. âShe said Ted forgave her for everything and Higgins is coming back.â
âI was there when she talked to Ted. Her apology seemed genuine. It was weird seeing her so vulnerable.â You told Keeley.
âRight?!â Keeley gasped. âFirst time I saw her cry it was almost scarier than the first time I saw her make someone else cry.â You both laughed, but then Keeley frowned. âIâm not sure how I can be friends with someone who did such horrible things. I mean she claimed she was my friend butâŚI mean the photo aloneâŚâ
âShe wasnât really your friend when she did a lot of the sabotaging Kee. Especially the photo. She grew to love you and I think if she wasnât your friend, she wouldnât have been able to tell Ted the truth at all.â You guessed. âShe was hurting, and she couldnât see past that pain. I donât think what she did was right, but I feel for her.â
âI suppose youâre right.â Keeley huffed. âYou know she told me that girl Bex, yeah? Sheâs pregnant with Rupertâs baby!â
âWhat?â You leaned forward in your seat, scandalized. âIsnât he like sixty something?â
âSeventy!â She clarified. âItâs fucking mental! I canât even imagine! Well Rupert makes my skin crawl butâŚâ
âYeah, what is it about him?â You agreed. âI just want to rage whenever Iâm in the same room as him! Itâs a miracle no one tried to burn down the club before this! Wait, I hate to back track, but did you say Higgins is coming back too?â
âYes. I guess he really did quit because he didnât want to be involved in the sabotage anymore.â Keeley nodded. âSo after Rebecca confessed to Ted she paid a visit to Higgins. She told him about coming clean and promised everything was on the up from here on out.â
âThatâs good, I think Higgins is a good influence on her.â You smiled. âUh, listen Kee, thereâs one other thing I wanted to talk to you about. Did you and Roy talk last night after the game?â
âYou mean about him playing like shit?â She asked. âHe didnât so much talk as grunt and mumble about it.â She laughed. âWhy do you ask? Shit Tedâs not thinking about benching him, is he?â
âNo. Heâs adamant that heâs not going to, but Beard and Nate think he should.â You explained.
âAnd what do you think?â She questioned cautiously.
âI think no one is going to make that decision for Roy. I want to talk to him, but I was hoping the two of you may have already had a conversation I could piggyback off of.â You crossed your fingers on both of your hands and showed them to Keeley.
âAww sorry, Babes. I wish I could be more help.â She pouted with sympathy. âBut if you can get him to talk to you, yeah? Let me know. Iâd love toâŚhow did you just say it? Piggyback off that conversation.â
âIâd better get going.â You decided, getting to your feet. âBeard and Nate arenât talking to Ted apparently so someoneâs going to have to make sure training actually happens today. Iâll catch you later.â
Out on the pitch, Ted was standing about a yard away from Beard and Nate. You strode up and stood between them. You werenât sure whoâd been trying to prove their point Ted or Beard, but most of the drills seemed to be focused on speed. Â Someone was trying to prove that Roy could or couldnât keep up with everyone else. Despite the other guys on the team trying to push their Captain with words of encouragement he just couldnât keep up.
âFUCK!â The entire field could hear him swear every time he fell further behind. Â
The team broke for lunch. While most of the exhausted players lumbered into the locker room, Roy took to the stands. He jogged up and up before collapsing into a seat in the middle section. Even from where you stood on the grass you could tell he was glaring out into the middle distance.
âIâm starting to think yâall might have a point.â Ted sighed. âIâm gonna try and talk to âim.â
âIâll go with you.â You offered. âHe likes me better.â
âNo arguments there, Darlin.â You and Ted walked up the stands and sat on opposite sides of Roy.
âAll these seats, you two have to sit here?â Roy asked raising his eyebrows.
âYou know, during breakfast [Y/N] showed me a video from Tik TacâŚwait those are mints. It was the other one with the short videos. Ya know?â Ted began.
âYou two Muppets followed me up here to show me a TikTok?â Roy asked in disbelief.
âWeâll, not exactlyâŚâ Ted leaned back in his seat and looked down at the pitch. âI was just trying something I learned from my mom. See whenever she has something tough to talk about with me sheâll start off talking about, I donât know, something weird. Something overtly nice. And I just thought you might like to see this TikTok we was watching of a cow and a lil goat becoming friends.â
Roy looked to you, as he always did, to translate Tedâs ramblings into something resembling the Queenâs English. You heaved a quiet sigh.
âThe coaches have been talking about the Man City game.â You decided it was best not to best around the bush. Roy liked handling matters directly so you were going to. âMost of the discussion has been centered around the starting line upâŚâ
âNo! Donât you dare!â Roy looked away from you to snarl at Ted. âYouâre not fucking benching me!â Ted had been expecting this reaction of course. He didnât think Roy Kent would go quietly to the second string.
âNow hang on, weâre just talkingâŚâ Ted tried to pacify him. All this did was fire Roy up more.
âYeah, talking. Thatâs all you do is talk.â Roy shot to his feet. âTalking all that bullshit about how youâve got my back.â
âHey, I do have youâre back.â Ted also rose to his feet, but his tone was calm.
âBullshit!â Roy snapped. âYou pretended to be a man of your word. Youâre fucking full of shit. You can go fuck yourself. Fuck you!â Roy turned to march away, seemingly forgetting that you were still seated behind him. He glared down a âfuck youâ for you burning in his eyes. He looked back at Ted over his shoulder before finally stalking off.
âRoy!â You called after him. He ignored you. You got up from your seat.
âIâm not too sureâŚâ Ted tried to stop you but you followed after Roy.
âRoy! Roy! KENT!â You shouted at him. Roy stopped walking. He looked at you with an animalistic expression. He was hungry for a fight.
âNot now!â He snapped.
âYes now.â You disagreed, marching over to him. âHe didnât deserve that back there.â
âYeah, he did. I donât deserve getting shoved to the side by some Yankee twat who wouldnât know a good player if they caved in his skull with a header!â Roy snarled.
âYou want to keep shouting and having a meltdown like a toddler or do you want to hear what I have to say?â You asked. There was no bite in your voice, you were attempting to sooth him. Play the peacekeeper.
âKinda want to keep shoutinâ, yeah.â He answered honestly but his tone matched yours. Heâs stopped yelling.
âHe was telling the truth. He doesnât want to bench you. Least of all not without your consent. He cares about you Roy. He cares about you as a player on this team and as a person.â You insisted. âI know youâre gonna say I donât know anything about football, but think about it, whatâs better for your career; starting the last game of the season on the bench or playing too slow in front of a live televised audience?â
âItâs not right.â Roy shook his head. âAnd Iâm not doing it.â
âIf you wonât listen to me and you wonât talk to Ted, promising me youâll at least talk to Keeley? Get an opinion from someone whoâs in your corner. And for the record, Ted and I are both still very much in your corner.â You promised.
âMaybe I will.â He mumbled so quietly you barely heard him. âIâm taking the rest of the day to clear my fucking head. Will you tell âim?â
âYeah, sure.â You agreed. He simply nodded. Roy didnât even bother changing out of his uniform. He strode right out of the club house, got in his car, and drove off.
âYou okay?â Ted questioned, approaching you from behind.
âMe? He was practically civil with me. Are you okay?â You leaned against Ted, resting your head on his shoulder.
âOh yeah, I was expectinâ heâd rip one of them chairs up out of the concrete or turn green like Incredible Hulk. Ya know âRoy Smashâ! That sort of thing.â Ted sighed. âIâm sure we havenât heard the last of this. Letâs get some lunch before this whole thing goes sideways again.â Â

Pairing: Ted Lasso x Reader              Â
Summary: One week after the Everton game, most of the team is playing better than ever. Rebecca even seems to have taken a step back from Sabatoging the team. Are things finally looking up at AFC Richmond?Â
It was an agonizing week that followed the victory of the Everton game. Things should have felt better than ever. Most of the team was playing the best they had all season, still riding the high of their record-breaking win. Rebeccaâs sabotaging seemed to come to an end. Either because sheâd had a true change of heart or because there didnât seem to be a point in it now that she knew Keeley was on to her. Just like sheâd said that night, Keeley had confronted the team owner but a confession from Rebecca had yet materialize.
Higgins quit or was fired; the truth wasnât clear. All anyone could agree on was Rebeccaâs account of their conversation certainly had holes in it. While the team was playing better, the Jamie Tartt sized hole in their roster was being felt all around. Roy was playing at his personal worst and nothing he did seemed to improve the situation. When he cost the team a winning goal in the next weekâs game, heâd taken to secluding himself in the training room.
âHey you two!â Ted greeted Keeley and you with his toothy smile. âWhy the long faces?â
âWeâre trying to decide who should talk to Roy.â Keeley explained. Ted followed her gaze to the training room but he couldnât see Roy. Heck he couldnât see much of anything. All the lights were turned off. âHeâs been sitting in a wheely bin full of ice water for the last hour.â She sighed. âHeâd rather get hypothermia than talk to either of us.â
âYou should talk to him, Ted.â You decided. âNot as his friend, but as his coach.â
âI can try.â Ted shrugged. âBut Royâs never been much of fan oâ my way of coachinâ.â
âItâs better than nothinâ at this point.â Keeley insisted.
âAlright.â Ted agreed. âUnlike our cold-blooded friend in there, I know better than to argue when the two of you are in agreement on something.â Â
âNow that thatâs taken care of, we have to talk about the other thing.â Keeley whispered to you.
âIâm not sure thereâs much to talk about.â You wandered over to the empty bench in the middle of the locker room and sat down. Keeley sat across from you in front on Samâs locker. âI donât see what we can do if she doesnât confess herself. Ted already knows, and he wants to just sweep the whole thing under the rug. He brings up a good point that exposing her publicly puts all of our jobs at risk and potentially gives Bex and the other shareholders means to have Rebecca removed. With Rebecca gone that opens the door for Rupert to step right in and no one wants that.â
âI hate that youâre right.â Keeley pouted. âStill itâs not fair what she did to Ted, or you or Higgins or Jamie. Now I hate that sheâs got me feeling bad for Jamie!â She laughed. Beard and Nate stepped into the locker room. The pair of them sharing an uncomfortable expression. Ted stepped out of the training room and locked eyes with his fellow coaches.
âWe need to talk to you.â Beard announced firmly.
âOf course, let me just let my date know Iâm running a little late.â He glanced over at you. â[Y/N], can you text my girlfriend and let her know that Iâm gonna be a little late for dinner? Me and the fellas gotta have a meeting.â
âShe says take all the time you need, but youâre going to owe her one, Coach Lasso.â You answered back.
âHeard and acknowledged, Darlinâ. Gosh itâs so convenient having my girlfriend and my assistant being the same person.â He remarked. âWait is that misogynistic? Because I wasnât trying to imply that I feel any sort of ownership over you just becauseâŚâ
âTed?â You interrupted him.
âYes, Dear?â He replied.
âBeard and Nate are waiting to talk to you before they can both go home.â You pointed out.
âRight of course.â You watched the three men walk into the managerâs office. Beard closed the door behind them.
âIâm gonna see if I can get any work done in my office.â Keeley told you. âWill you let Roy know where I am if he ever decides to thaw himself out?â
âOf course.â You nodded. âBut I think he might be planning on living in their until the next game.â
Whatever Beard and Nate had wanted to discuss with Ted was brief. No sooner had Keeley left the locker room for her office than the two coaches disembarked from the managerâs office. They wished you a good night and headed out with backpacks slung over their shoulders. You approached the office and dropped into your usual chair. Whatever Ted had been about to say was interrupted by Rebecca appearing in the doorway. Your eyes flashed to Ted wondering if this was finally the moment youâd been anticipating all week. You started to rise from your seat, but the club owner stopped you.
â[Y/N] please stay. I think you should hear what I have to say too. Iâm a fucking bitch.â That sure got your attention. You dropped back into your seat. âTed, I lied to you. I hired you because I wanted this team to lose. I wanted you to fail. And I sabotaged you every chance Iâve had. I made sure [Y/N] didnât have a place to stay when you arrived. It was me who hired that photographer to that the photo of you and Keeley. I set up the interview with Trent Crimm, hoping that he would humiliate you. And I instigated the transfer of Jamie Tartt, even though youâd asked me not to. This club is all that Rupert has ever cared about and I wanted to destroy it. To cause him as much pain and suffering as he has caused me. And I didnât care who I used or who I hurt. All you good people just trying to make a difference. Ted, Iâm so sorry.â
Rebeccaâs eyes began to well up. You could both see that she felt genuine remorse for her actions. To Tedâs credit, he did a good job pretending this was news to him. Maybe it was the break in Rebeccaâs voice or that he hadnât expected her to truly mean the apology Keeley had ordered her to make. He got up from his desk.
âIf you want to quit or call the press, Iâll completely understand.â She told him, lifting her chin high.
âI forgive you.â Ted replied. Heâd already made up his mind to do as much the night youâd told him the truth. Heâd told you then that if Rebecca come and confessed that would be the end of it and he was a man of his word.
âYou what? Why?â Rebecca was truly taken back by his response. Sheâd expected him to be angry or hurt. Sheâd hadnât expected him to be forgiving.
âDivorce is hard.â Ted sighed. âIt doesnât matter if youâre the one leaving or if youâre the one who got left. It makes folks do crazy things.â Ted placed a hand on your shoulder, and you knew his mind had gone to the fights that the two of you had had. The out of character outburst youâd seen from him. âHell, Iâm coaching soccer for Heavenâs sake.â He laughed. âIn London. Thatâs nuts. But this job you gave me has changed my life. It gave me the distance I needed to see what was really going on. You and me? Weâre okay.â
He held out his hand as an olive branch. Rebecca pulled him into a tight hug instead. When they separated, the club owner looked to you. You got your feet at last, wondering how much of Tedâs speech had been improvised and how much of it had been practiced in front of his bathroom mirror.
âI think at this point, he and I are a package deal.â You smiled. âIf heâs a bird, Iâm a bird.â
âIâm going to assume that colorful analogy is a reference to a song or film.â Rebecca smirked.
âCâmon now, you expect us to believe youâve never seen The Notebook?â Ted asked. âKnow what? Doesnât matter, letâs bring it in for a group hug.â

Words: 2157
Pairing: Ted Lasso x Reader             Â
Summary: Following an eventful weekend, Ted and Reader return to their apartment building expecting to wind down. They might have, if Roy and Keeley handât called with urgent news for Reader.Â
You, Beard and Ted stayed with Rebecca at the Crown and Anchor for three rounds of drinks. Beard was the first to pardon himself as he had existing plans with Jane that night which he didnât want to be late for. Rebecca saw his exit as an excuse to settle the tab with Mae. So you and Ted collected your coats.
âTed, would you like a ride home?â Rebecca offered. âAfter what you did for me it would be the least I could do.â
âNah thatâs okay Rebecca, I think me and [Y/N] are gonna walk home together. âpreciate the offer though.â He told her. âYou about ready to go, Sweetheart?â
âSweetheart?â Rebecca blinked at the pet name. âSo you too areâŚâ She gestured between you and Ted. âYouâre dating?â
âYes Maâam.â Ted nodded. You felt his hand come to rest on your shoulder. âThatâs not going to be a problem, is it?â `
âWe donât have a policy preventing employees from dating.â Rebecca clarified. You felt your chest tighten. Obviously, you and Ted werenât keeping your relationship a secret anymore but you still worried that she might craft a way to use your relationship to hurt Ted or the club. âIâm just surprised because I thought Ted was still married and [Y/N] was dating Roy. Itâs certainly nice that the two of you have found each other.â Rebecca forced herself to smile. She wished you and Ted a goodnight before leaving the pub.
âYou never got your dinner, did you?â Ted asked, the two of you left the Crown and Anchor and headed towards your building. âYou and Beard were about to order when Rebecca and I came in.â
âOh yeah. I didnât even realize.â You acknowledged. âHonestly, I forgot I was hungry. I nearly forgot how to think when you challenged Rupert to that darts game. It wasâŚTed it was fucking hot.â
âReally?â Ted tilted his head to the side. âI mean we never talked about it but who would have thought darts could be a turn on. You know I could get a board for my place. You reached your apartment building and Ted gestured towards his front door. An invitation.
âIt wasnât just the darts.â You laughed following him into his apartment. âWhat you did was badass.â
âBadass, huh?â He repeated to himself. âYou know my plan was to cook you some dinner and maybe we could hang and watch a movie, but it sounds like you want to skip right to dessertâŚand by dessert I do not mean biscuits.â
At the mention of biscuits your earlier concerns about Rebecca came to the front of your mind. You had to tell Ted what you knew. He deserved to know. Even if you wanted to see Rupert Manion suffer half as much as you thought you did, it wouldnât be fair to drag the entirety of A.F.C. Richmond down in the process.
âDinner first.â You told him. âIâm starved.â
Dinner would give the two of you a chance to talk. You could try to circle the conversation back to Rebecca or work organically. Once the right path was laid you could start with Higgins pulling you aside the morning of the Everton game. It was going to be a hard conversation and youâd wished Beard were there. Not only had he also heard information firsthand from Higgins, he was better at remaining levelheaded than you or Ted. While you were focusing on how exactly to broach the sabotage subject, your phone began to ring. Â
âHey, Kee everything alright?â You asked, answering her call on the second ring. You stepped out of the kitchen into the living room.
âWell, that depends on your definition of alright.â Keeley answered back. âYouâre on speaker by the way, Royâs here too. Say hello, Roy.â
âHello.â A gruff growl came through your receiver.
âListen thereâs something we want to talk to you about.â Keeley explained. âWeâre on our way over to your flat is that okay?â
âYeah of course. Iâm not at home at the moment though, Iâm at Tedâs. You can just meet us here.â You told them.
âOh,â Keeley paused. âActually [Y/N] we were sort of hoping we could just talk to you. If thatâs alright.â
âI mean I donât mind, but heâs just started cooking us dinner. Iâll have to give him a reason why I have to leave.â You said.
âTell him weâve coupled up and we want romantic advice from you. Say that I donât want him there because Iâm embarrassed. Heâll believe you.â Roy interjected.
âOkay but have the two of you coupled up?â You couldnât stop yourself from asking.
âThatâs not the bloody point, is it?â Roy hissed into Keeleyâs phone. Â âWeâll be at your place in ten.â He ended the call. You walked back into the kitchen.
âEverythinâ alright?â Ted asked. Heâd noticed you leaving the room on a phone call and took in the concerned expression you now wore.
âI think so.â You nodded. âThat was Keeley. Sheâs on her way over with Roy. Apparently, theyâre having some sort of a romantic crisis.â You tried to present the subject casually. As if your friendsâ problems were as tedious as washing the dishes.
âOh we know a thing or two about that.â Ted chuckled. âWell, I hope you invited them to dinner. The more the merrier.â
âActually, they asked to speak with me alone.â You informed him apologetically. âRoy said heâs not comfortable talking about his feelings with another man. I think heâs just afraid youâd conference in the Diamond Dogs again.â
âOkay. You let them know Iâm right here âcross the hall if they changed their minds.â He offered âAnd donât worry about dinner. Iâll finish cookinâ and Iâll keep everything warm for whenever youâre ready to eat.â
You told Ted that youâd return as soon as possible and a let him know he should eat without you. When Roy and Keeley arrived, you escorted them into your apartment. You put a kettle on and sat them at your small kitchen table.
âOkay, so whatâs this about?â You asked, placing a mug in front of each of them. Keeley and Roy looked to each other. You felt like you were watching them argue with their eyes. Each trying to force the other into speaking first.
âDonât look at me, sheâs your friend.â Roy commented at last.
âUgh fine!â Keeley rolled her eyes giving in. âHeâs not talking about you, by the way. Roy still adores you, thatâs why weâre here. So, Roy and me we were having our first date tonight.â
âOh, thatâs great!â You smiled. âYou two will be fantastic together! But Iâm guessing thatâs not the reason you came all the way here.â
âNo, itâs not.â Roy agreed. âWhile we were on our date some fucking photographer was taking pictures of us. I took this from âim so he couldnât make money from our pictures.â Roy slapped an SD card onto the table.
âWe were just going to delete the photos, you know, make sure they were gone and then we were gonna mail it back to the photographer, but then we found out,â Keeley paused stealing a glance at Roy. âWell, the same card had the pictures of me and Ted on it.â
âThatâs a hell of a coincidence.â You remarked.
âThatâs what I thought.â Keeley agreed. âSo Roy called The Sun. We wanted to see who hired the photographer. It turned out he just happened to run into us on the street but someone did hire him to take the photos of me and Ted. Youâll never guess who it was! I mean I was shocked! It wasâŚâ
âJust get to it.â Roy grumbled.
âAlright, thereâs nothing stopping you from saying it.â She smirked at him. Roy grunted in response. âIt wasâŚâ
âRebecca.â He interrupted unable to bare Keeleyâs dramatics any longer.
âAre the photos of you and Ted still on that card?â You asked.
âYou donât seem surprised.â Roy observed.
âMaybe sheâs in shock. I was.â Keeley said.
âIâve known about this for a few days, I only didnât say anything because I didnât have any proof.â You shared with Roy and Keeley what you already knew. You told them that Higgins had confessed to helping Rebecca acquire the compromising photos of Keeley and Ted. You let them know that Beard had also been looped in on the subject. Lastly you recounted your evening at the Crown and Anchor. âIâm not saying that what she did is right, but damn if Rupert was my ex-husband, Iâd probably want to destroy everything he loved too.â
âWhat did Lasso say when you told him?â Roy wondered. âMust have shattered his rose-tinted glasses.â
âI havenât told him yet.â You confessed. âBeard and I decided we should wait for proof.â
âWell, Iâm gonna talk to Rebecca.â Keeley announced. âShe might be my friend but Iâm gonna tell her that she has to stop. Iâm gonna tell her that she needs confess to Ted. I think she should apologize to him too.â
âThis should be interesting.â Roy remarked. âWe should get going.â He suggested to Keeley. âWeâll see you and Lasso first thing in the morning.â
You escorted Roy and Keeley out of the building and asked bid them safe travels. You returned to Tedâs apartment where the Head Coach was doing his best to look as if he hadnât been eagerly awaiting your return. He was seated in the living room, absently cycling through channels on the television.
âI know I shouldnât ask.â Ted said when you moved to stand in front of him. âBut you know it just seems like kismet them two getting together.â
âI wonât even make you ask; I can tell you what Keeley and Roy wanted to talk about but tomorrow when the subject comes up again you have to pretend like you donât know anything.â You said.
âYou may have noticed this eveninâ that Iâm mighty good at pretending not to know things when I need to.â He reminded you of his darts game with Rupert which had only concluded a few hours ago.
Ted patted the open spot next to him on the couch, inviting you to have a seat. You sat on the couch with one leg tucked under you the other hanging off the edge. While your conversation with Keeley and Roy had been mostly a highlight reel of your suspicions, you tried to provide Ted with as much detail as possible.
âSo now Keeleyâs going to confront Rebecca tomorrow about it all.â You concluded.
âI see.â Ted tried to digest the information that youâd laid out for him. His smile had disappeared and in its place was a downturned mustache and furrowed brows. âSo, you ending up living with me, that was âcause Rebecca told Higgins specifically not to find you a place to live. And-and Jamie getting sent back to Man City?â
âWasnât your fault at all Ted. For all we know, Jamie might not have wanted to go at all.â You confirmed.
âHuh.â He mumbled. âAnd you and Beard, the two of you sat on this information for how long?â
âJust weekend.â You told him. âI know we said weâd be honestly with each other, but you have to understand that I didnât have any proof until tonight. If my suspicions had been wrong or Higgins had been lying, I didnât want to change the way you saw Rebecca if I didnât have to.â
âI âpreciate that [Y/N], I do. I know my face doesnât convey that right now,â He commented. âbut I know that you and Beard, youâre always going to be in my corner, my two aces. Anâ you said Keeley is going to confront Rebecca tomorrow? Wants Rebecca to confess to me herself?â
âThatâs what she told Roy and I.â You nodded.
âWell, alright then. I think Keeleyâs right. Rebecca should get the chance to come clean and tell someone what sheâs done. Not because I need to hear any sort of apology, but because I think confessing oneâs mistakes is really freeing. And this stays between the seven of us. No reason anyone outside of Rebecca, me, you, Beard, Roy, Keeley and Higgins need to know about this. If Rebecca comes to me and tells me the truth about what sheâs done to sabotage Richmond, as far as I know the whole mess ends right then.â
âI think thatâs more than fair.â You agreed.
âAlright, well then, if Iâm supposed to not know anything, then for now, letâs pretend I donât. I think thatâs enough shop talk for the night anyhow. Letâs change the subject.â
âWell, I believe we last left off on the subject of dessert.â You smirked.
âAnd I believe you are correct.â He agreed. âShould we move this to the bedroom?â He suggested.
âItâs like you read my mind.â You allowed Ted to escort you out of the living room.

Fighting Dragons With You (Pt 4)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3Â /
Words: 1954
Cast of Characters: Young!Leia, Obi Wan Kenobi & Reader Â
Summary: Reader and Obi-Wan are trying to sneak their way out of the city and escape Daiyu. Things are looking hopeless until help comes from somewhere unexpected.
It didnât mean much, this casual confession. You told yourself as Obi-Wan urged you and Leia further down the alley and away from the busy Daiyu street where you could easily be spotted. You followed him, lost again in your own feelings. You really had fallen far off the Jedi path, letting your emotions run through you like this. It was padawan behavior and amateur at that.
There was truth to what youâd told Leia earlier. You and Obi-Wan had been very good friends. Youâd always wanted some day to be more than that. It was forbidden by the Jedi code, but you wouldnât be the first to break from it nor the last. When the two of you learned the truth about Padme and Anakin you thought maybe that would be enough for him to see things your way. Perhaps it may have, had Anakin not fallen to the dark side, confirming his Masterâs lifelong biases. Â
âWhat is that?â Obi-Wan asked. You followed his gaze to Leia. She was sitting on a stack of shipping crates inspecting her favorite droid. LOLA didnât look good, but she could be mended. The Princess took small comfort in that. At least LOLA wouldnât suffer permanent damage because of her.
âHer name is LOLA.â Leia explained sadly. âShe wonât be any trouble. Sheâs hurt.â Â
âGood.â Obi-Wan nodded. His natural aversion to droids and his current fear of being discovered were satisfied. You made eyes at your friend over Leiaâs head. He gathered from your expression that his response been inappropriate. He sighed quietly and tried again. âWhat happened to her, anyway?â
âShe was ripped to pieces by the kidnappers.â Leia told him. âSheâll be alright though. Sheâs strong. [Y/N] and I have fixed her before.â
âIâll let your parents know that youâre safe, Princess. You and [Y/N] will be back to normal by nightfall.â He assured her.
âGreat.â Leia huffed. âNormal.â
âLeia much prefers adventure and playing with her droid over diplomacy and negotiations.â You told Obi-Wan.
âThat reminds me of someone else I knew.â He nodded. âWe should continue moving. The spaceport is not far.â
The back of the alley opened to a larger labyrinth of connecting side streets. Obi Wan seemed to know his way around so you and Leia did your best to keep up with his stealthy but quickened pace. After a dizzying number of twists and turns, you stopped short, nearly colliding with Obi-Wanâs outstretched arm. Youâd reached your destination. The entrance of the spaceport was just ahead.
From where you stood a streetâs width away, you could seat about a dozen stormtroopers mustered outside of the spaceport. It was your first time really seeing them up close. Living on a planet like Alderaan meant that troopers didnât come around often. When they did it was because they were off duty or deserters seeking refuge. They were a far cry from the clones youâd fought alongside over a decade ago.
âWhat are they?â Leia pointed at two beings dressed in all black. They were standing just off from the storm troopers. They had fighterâs stances, waiting at the ready. You didnât have an answer for Leia, so you looked to Obi-Wan.
âInquisitors.â He explained. âMany were Jedi who turned to the dark side. Now they hunt their own kind.â
âAll of this is for you?â Leia asked. You bit your lip and looked away to stop yourself from laughing. She really was your favorite youngling of all time. âWho are you?â
There was a commotion behind you. The three of you turned back to see a new Bounty Hunter fresh on your trail. You and Obi-Wan both stepped in front of Leia only to watch a blaster bolt erupt from the center of the hunterâs head. A new face stood just behind the Bounty Hunter. Obi-Wan seemed to know him. He stepped further forward, pushing you and Leia back.
âThe bounty is for me.â He told the man. âPlease let them go.â
âListen carefully,â The man said, not coming any closer. âThe entire cityâs locked down. Itâs done. You need another exit.â
He pointed behind you. Obi-Wan looked up and back as the man described a fully automated cargo port located not too far from where you already were. He stepped closer, better lit by the city lights now. His clothes were simple and could almost pass for those of a Jedi if one wasnt looking close enough. But a tan tunic and a brown cloak did not make a Jedi. You wondered how and When Obi-Wan had met this man.
âThey wonât be looking for you there.â He continued telling Obi-Wan. âGo to transport eight. They will be waiting.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Obi-Wan asked. âWho will be waiting?â
âThere are people out there who can help you.â The strange man replied.
âYou expect me to trust you? Youâre a criminal!â Obi-Wan balked.
âAnd our best option of getting out of here with all three of us alive.â You commented, stepping forward. âBen, if this is our way out of here, I think we should at least try. It must be safer than walking in there.â You looked back at the spaceport.
âLook,â The man gulped. âHave I made a few bad decisions? Sure. Do I feel bad about it? Sometimes. Do I like credits? Yeah. Thereâs so much stuff you can buy with credits.â
âHajaâŚâ Obi-Wan sighed.
âYouâŚremembered my name.â The man blinked. This seemed to surprise him. âIâm trying to make amends.â He assured Obi-Wan. âI got that other family safe and Iâm gonna do the same for you. If Iâd known what you wereâŚâ
âIt doesnât matter what I am.â Obi-Wan interrupted. âI just need to get them home safe.â He gestured behind himself to you and Leia. The man called Haja nodded.
âGo to these coordinates.â He handed Obi-Wan an information chip. âTheyâll help you from there.â
âAnd how do I know this isnât just a trap?â Obi-Wan wanted to know.
âWhat choice do you have?â Haja question back. âYouâre not alone. Obi-Wan. Iâll buy you as much time as I can.â Haja drew up the hood of his brown cloak and sprinted off, blaster drawn.
âLook at you making, friends.â You teased. At least Leia giggled.
âMust you make light of every situation?â Obi-Wan demanded with exasperation.
âOnly when the situation calls for it.â You promised. âSeriously, though, who was that?â
âNo one.â Obi-Wan grumbled. âCertainly not a friend.â
He would say nothing more on the matter but continued to guide your group toward the coordinates. He reminded both you and Leia to be careful as you loaded onto the cargo portâs hydro-lift. Â His lecture about how dangerous it was for people to be at a fully automated cargo port lasted nearly the entire lift ride.
âIf itâs so dangerous they wonât look for us here.â Leia announced. Sheâs never been one to simply listen to a lecture.
âUnless itâs a set up.â Obi-Wan mumbled.
âDid he always have these trust issues?â Leia looked to you.
âYes, but this seems this seems extreme even for him.â You whispered back.
âYou know I can hear both of you.â Obi-Wan smirked. He might not have the best relationship with Luke, and if it were up to Owen Lars he may never. At least he knew that Leia was in good hands with you. Just ten years old but she was already very much the Skywalker she was meant to be. There was just enough of Bail, Breha and you in her to take the edge off.
You heard a second hydro-lift reach the top of the cargo port. You immediately pulled Leia with you behind a large stock of crates. You knew youâd pulled a little too hard but to her credit she didnât so much as yelp. Obi-Wan rolled behind a second stack of cargo just as a set of footprints entered the port.
You heard the unmistakable sound of a saber igniting. You fiddled for your own saber, making sure you still had it. Obi-Wan skid an access key soundlessly over to you. You handed it off to Leia with instructions on how to manually activate the transport ship. Only after promising that you and Obi-Wan would be right behind her did she take off. A small game of cat and mouse began after that. You and Obi moved around the cargo bay. Listening with the force as well as the very audible hum of the inquisitorâs blade.
âYou cannot hide Obi-Wan.â The inquisitor called out. âI can feel you. Your fear betrays you.â
You nearly tripped on Obi-Wanâs cloak when he moved to the right, while youâd meant to go left. You bobbed out of each otherâs way, just narrowly missing the inquisitor as she force pushed a barrel youâd been crouched behind.
âYou donât have to worry. Youâre not going to die.â The inquisitor continued. âToday.â
You and Obi-Wan had managed to overtake a fair amount of ground. Youâd gotten a little turned around, but heâd know exactly where he was going. He nodded to an opening not too far away. You could see the transport ship through the opening. Just a little farther. You breathed.
âIâm just going to take you to him. I know that youâre with him, [Y/N].â You looked to Obi-Wan trying not to emit the absolute panic you were feeling through The Force. Why did this person know your name? âLord Vader will be pleased.â She added. âOh.â She sensed something through the force. âYou didnât know. Heâs alive. Anakin Skywalker is alive. And heâs been looking for Obi-Wan for a long time. I am going to be the one to deliver you both to him!â
âThird Sister!â The first inquisitorâs taunts were interrupted by another arriving on the scene. âI can stand the reek of your ambition no longer.â
âGrand Inquisitor.â Obi-Wan whispered in your ear. You didnât need to ask further follow up questions to understand that meant this Grand Inquisitor was in charge. Rather than stand aside and allow the Grand Inquisitor to lead the search, Third Sister ran her saber right through the middle of him.
âWe gotta go, Ben, we gotta go.â You gripped Obi-Wanâs arm and dragged him towards the exit. You held onto him tightly and ran as fast as you could. You managed to jump into the transport ship. Leia closed the door. Third Sister arrived just seconds too late. She was forced to watch as your transport ship undocked and took off.

Zero Gravity
Words:Â 1544
Pairing: Finn x Poe Dameron       Â
Summary: Finn and Poe are in love with each other. Leia Knows it. Rey Knows it. Anyone whoâs been in the same room as them know it. So why, has it taken so long for the two of them to admit it to each other?Â
Finn stood in front of the mirror of his quarters. If he didnât leave soon, he was going to be later for afternoon mess. Poe always worried about him when he arrived late to mess. Even if theyâd just seen each other minutes before. It was as if his friend worried the ground had sucked him up and swallowed him in the ninety seconds, theyâd been apart.
Friend. Finn didnât really know why, but idea of being friends with Poe Dameron always made his stomach feel like it was doing backflips. He always assumed it was because Poe was the first real friend heâd had. Poe had given him his name. Before Poe heâd just been FN-2187. He owed a lot to Poe, including the jacket he was wearing.
The brown leather jacket, which Finn now studied himself wearing in the mirror, had been a gift when heâd first met the Resistance Pilot. It was the first piece of clothing Finn had ever owned that belonged to him. Not standard issue trooper armor or underclothes which were laundered and shared amongst the other storm troopers. Even now that he had a respectably sized wardrobe, the tattered old jacket remained his favorite garment.
âPoe gave you that jacket, didnât he?â A voice appeared so suddenly it had Finn jumping out of his skin. He didnât realize the door to his quarters were even open. He turned to see Rose Tico leaning casually in his doorway. He didnât answer her question because he hadnât exactly heard what she asked.
âHe sent me to see whatâs keeping you from mess.â She explained. âYou know, in some systems, giving someone your jacket is a sign of romantic interest.â
âI-Wha..â Finn sputtered unable to formulate a response.
âRelax.â Rose laughed. âI was just teasing you. Are you ready to go or do you need to preen for a few minutes?â
âIâm not! Letâs go.â Finn sighed before rushing out the door.
Poe had saved them both seats at the mess hall because of course he did. He smiled when he saw Rose, but his entire face lit up the second he laid eyes on Finn. Being around Finn gave him the same feeling as zero gravity on the cockpit of his X-Wing; weightless, free. Finn never told Poe that he was talking too fast. The former Stormtrooper never chastised him for acting rashly. Instead, heâd nod along and simply ask, âHow can I help?â
âSorry.â Finn apologized, even though they werenât even technically late yet. âI got caught up in something. Lsot track of time.â He lied.
âYeah, looking at himself in the mirror.â Rose mumbled. Poe hadnât heard what she said and was about to ask her to repeat herself when Captain Elav, a Twiâlek Security Officer approached their table.
âCommander Dameron, Iâm sorry to interrupt your meal, but The General said youâre scheduled for overnight watch on the eastern gate this evening.â Elav asked.
âI believe I am. Did something happen for The General to reassign me?â Poe asked. Typically, his assignments came directly from Leia herself.
âNo, Sir.â The Captain replied. âLuroon was meant to join you, but they were injured during weapons training this afternoon. Iâm afraid weâre having trouble finding a replacement for them.â
âWeapons training? Are they alright?â Poe wanted to know.
âNothing a day or so in the bacta wonât fix.â Elav promised.
âWell thanks for letting me know. Iâll be sure to check in on Luroon tomorrow and Iâll find someone for watch tonight.â Poe said. Captain Elav nodded before leaving the trio to their meal.
âIâll do it.â Finn volunteered before the Twiâlek was hardly a footstep away.
âDidnât you just come back from that weeklong mission with Rey? You couldnât have gotten much sleep on the Falconâs hard bunks.â Poe asked.
âIâve slept in worse places.â Finn shrugged. âCâmon, itâll be fun. Itâs been a while since weâve hung out.â
Poe wanted to say no. Â Despite what Finn said, he had a hard time sleeping on ships. Heâs told Poe before it was a problem heâd had since childhood. There was nothing compared to a soft cozy bed. Poe had been inclined to agree with him at the time. He knew his friend likely needed rest, but truth be told watch duty sucked. It sucked even more when you were stuck for eight to twelve hours with someone you didnât know well or like.
âOkay.â Poe agreed with no further push from Finn. âMeet you at the east gate at moons up?â
âIâll be there.â Finn agreed.
After mid-day mess Finn, Poe and Rose returned to their posts. Poe anxiously kept an eye on the time stamp near the bottom of his monitor in the command room. Heâd never been excited for watch before in his entire life. Finn tried to keep himself busy helping Rey and Chewbacca with the Millennium Falcon. It seemed the ancient ship was never short on repairs that needed to be done. The Wookie and the Jedi were happy for the help, there was a very short list of beings they trusted with their ship. Finn just barely managed to make the cut.
At long last the planetâs three moons were just barely visible in the sky. Finn nearly tossed down his spanner in excitement. He did his best to maintain his composure as he informed Rey that heâd have to leave for his watch shift. She thanked him for his help and waved him off, turning her attention to the perpetually on the fritz hyperdrive.
Poe was nearly late for his shift. Heâd been with Leia and some of the other high-ranking officers. Theyâd been in a debrief so long that the words of the presenting Mon Calamari had stopped making sense to him. Heâd been just about to nod off when the alarm heâd set at his workstation sounded off. The Commander apologized to everyone and excused himself to night watch, promising to read the complimenting documents before returning to the war room the following day.
âI thought I might have to actually send a search party out for you for once.â Finn joked as Poe finally arrived, out of breath.
âI might ask Leia to knock me back down to Captain if it means I donât have to sit through any more of those debriefs.â Poe huffed.
âI donât know,â Finn shrugged. âCommander Dameron kind of flows better than Captain Dameron.â
âYou think so?â Poe asked, leaning against the baseâs exterior wall. âAlright Iâll keep it then.â
Finn studied his friendâs features. The planetâs three moons lit the sky so brightly it could compare to another planetâs daylight. Poeâs bronzed skin was practically glowing in the moonlight. He had his shirt sleeves rolled up, and his collar buttons open. Coolant in the command room must have been broken again.
âYouâre from Yavin, right?â Finn asked suddenly.
âFourth Moon of Yavin, born and raised.â Poe nodded. âYou ever been?â
âHave IâŚno.â Finn shook his head. âIâve heard itâs got massive jungles.â
âYeah, sounds about right.â Poe agreed. âItâs muggy, large trees, but not as big as the ones on Keshyyyk. Why, you planning a trip?â
âNo, I was just thinking about something someone said earlier.â Finn replied.
âSomething someone said about home planets?â Poe pushed off the wall heâd leaning on. His lighthearted smirk changed to serious quickly. He tried to voice his concern in a delicate way. He didnât want to offend Finn. âIs someone harassing you about not knowing your home planet? Because If they areâŚâ
âNo! No!â Finn interrupted him. âNothing like that.â He was embarrassed to admit that he was still thinking about what Rose said earlier about gifting jackets. Finn took in a gulp of air before recounting to Poe that on some planets giving your jacket to someone is seen as a romantic advance. âSo you know, I was just wondering if that was true on Yavin.â
âOh.â Poe digested what Finn had said. He then remembered that the jacket that fit so perfectly on his best friend had once belonged to him. âOhhhh.â Poe chose his next words carefully. âWe didnât have anything specific that I remember on Yavin 4, but you know if youâre trying to ask me out, Buddy, you could just do that. Jacket or not.â
Poe bit his lip. Heâd hoped the suggestion came off as playful. If Finn wasnât interested in him, he could easily flip it as a joke. But, well, if Finn was even remotely interested maybe that sort of line would be just the thing to tip the scales.
Finn was speechless. Heâd waited so long for Poe to make the first move. Poe always made the first move. Poe made all the plans and did a lot of the talking. Maybe just this once he could be the one to act without thinking.
Finn stepped forward so suddenly, that Poe stepped back. Finn used this to his advantage. He moved even closer pinning Poe against the wall. Their hips crashed together. He thought he may have heard a moan escape Poeâs lips.
âIâm sorry, should IâŚâ Finn pulled away, but a pair of hands were gripping his waist, pulling him close again.
âKiss me.â Poe whispered.

Pairing: Ted Lasso x Reader             Â
Summary: After some light convincing from Reader, Beard agrees to go along with following Ted and Rebecca to The Crown and Anchor.Â
âHave I mentioned what a colossally bad idea I think this is?â Â Beard asked quietly. The two of you slipped into a small two top table tucked away to the left side of the bar at the Crown and Anchor.
âIt may have come up once or twice during the walk over. I know you think Ted would have asked us to come along if he thought something was up but he doesnât know what we know about you-know-who.â You reminded him.
âCan we just start calling her Voldemort?â Beard wondered.
âFine. Weâre here to make sure Voldemort doesnât do anything to make Ted look bad or further hurt the club.â Mae came by to take your orders. As she made her way back to the bar some familiar faces entered the pub. âShit is that Rupert and the girl who bid  on JamieâŚBex? What do you think theyâre doing here?â
âDonât know.â Beard straightened in his chair.
You and Beard would get your answers soon enough as Rebecca and Ted arrived. It was clear from her body language that Rebecca was not expecting Rupert to be at the pub. Ted spotted you and Beard in the corner but decided to engage with Rupert first. It seemed the Milk Sisters, the minority owners that Rebecca had arranged to meet with were no longer minority owners in the club at all. Rupert had lent Bex enough money that she was now Richmondâs newest minority owner.
âWhen weâre married whatâs hers will be mine and whatâs mineâŚwell, that will still be mine âcause I learned from you.â Rupert told Rebecca.
âDamn.â You whispered to Beard. âIf it wasnât going to displace workers and ruin the careers of two dozen men, Iâd almost help her tank the franchise myself.â
Rupert then announced to the room that he and Bex were engaged, and drinks were on him. This earned a celebration from the locals all of whom seemed to share a great deal of loyalty more to Rupert than they did Rebecca or Ted. You got up from the table and approached your two bosses pretending to just notice them.
âRebecca? Ted! What a surprise! Beard and I were just having dinner,â You nodded your head to your table in the corner. âTed, you mentioned having a meeting with Rebecca, I didnât realize it was here. What a small world!â The expression on Tedâs face made it clear that your ruse wasnât fooling him. Heâd told you exactly where his meeting would be. Youâd come up with a good explanation for him later.
âAh, what a surprise.â Rebecca greeted you and Beard who had followed you over to the bar.
âYou know now that weâre all here, why donât we go grab a bite to eat together. Roy took me to this great place down the street.â You tried to give Rebecca and excuse to leave the pub without giving Rupert the satisfaction of being the reason for her departure.
âThat sounds great [Y/N] but ah, before we do that, Iâd like to challenge our friend Rupert here to a game of darts.â Ted drew the attention of the former Richmond owner.
âDo you like darts, Ted?â Rupert asked him.
âTheyâre okay.â Ted shrugged. He loosed a dart casually at the closest dart board. You didnât know much about the game but based on the reactions of the patrols around you Ted had made an unimpressive hit on the board. âIâm more of a cornhole fella myself.â
âHow about a wager?â Rupert offered. âSay, ten thousand pounds?â This certainly got the attention of the entire room.
âWell, thatâs a little rich for my blood.â Ted informed him regrettably. âHow about this, if you win, Iâll let you pick the starting lineup of the last two games of the season? But if I win, you canât go anywhere near the ownerâs box, at least not while Rebeccaâs still in charge. What do you think?â
âYouâre on.â Rupert agreed. âDouble in, double out.â
âOkay.â Ted nodded. âWhatever you say Rupe-a-dupes. Just let me know if Iâm winning or losing.â
âOh, I forgot I had these on me.â Rupert produced an expensive looking case from his pocket. He opened the case to reveal a set of professional grade darts.
âThatâs okay.â Ted smiled. âI forgot, Iâm left-handed.â He tossed another dart and it landed in the dead center of the board.
âShouldnât we stop him?â Rebecca looked to you and Beard, realizing neither one of you appeared all that worried.
âHe knows what heâs doing.â Beard told her confidently. It was the confidence of a man whoâd accompanied his friend on many drunken nights out. Someone whoâd seen this hustle firsthand and watched it pay off almost every time. Youâd seen Ted hustle someone at darts only once before, it was at a late-night budget meeting with the Dean. Heâd managed to secure a ten percent budget increase for the athletics and art departments rather than the fifty percent cut to both that had been proposed.
âShall I be giving you the lineup card now, Ted?â Rupert asked when the game came down to Tedâs final turn.
It has been a nail biter of a game with most of the room hoping for a Rupert Manion designated roster. What had started off as a nearly tit-for-tat game had soon turned to Rupertâs favor. Â Youâd managed to work out that darts scoring was similar to golf. The player with the least points at the end was the winner. Rupert and Ted had started the game with five hundred and one points each and while the former had managed to end his final turn with just ten points, the later was still holding one hundred and seventy points.
âI shall be putting Obisanya back on defense where he belongs.â Rupert continued to taunt Ted.
âThatâs exactly what I said!â One of the patrons agreed.
âNow! Itâs not all Tedâs fault.â Rupert told the crowd. âMy ex-wifeâs the one who brought the hillbilly to our shores. I know sheâs always been a bit randy, but I never thought she would fuck over an entire team.â
âHey!â Ted said loudly, calling the attention back to himself. Â âBetter manners when Iâm holding a dart.â He ordered. âYou know Rupert guys have underestimated me my entire life. And for years I never really understood why. It used to really bother me. But then one day, I was driving my little boy to school, and I saw this quote by Walt Whitman and it was painted on the wall there. It said âBe curious, not judgmental.â I liked that.â Ted fired a dart and it landed in a skinny red strip on the dart board. Those amongst the crowd in support of Ted cheered.
âSo I get back in my car,â Ted continued his story paying everyone else no mind. âand Iâm driving to work and all of a sudden it hits me. All them fellas that used to belittle me, not a single one of them were curious. They thought they had everything all figured out. So they judged everything and they judged everyone. And I realized that their underestimating me? Who I was had nothing to do with it. âCause if they were curious, they wouldâve asked questions. You know? Questions like âHave you played a lot of darts, Tedâ?â
Ted loosed the second dart of his turn. It landed in the exact same red square as his previous shot. Â This stirred loud âooooohsâ from even his non-supporters in the pub.
âTo which,â Ted said as he plucked up his final dart. âI wouldâve answered, âYes, sir. Every Sunday afternoon at a sports bar with my father, from age ten till I was sixteen when he passed awayâ.â
Tedâs final dart landed in the dead center of the board. A shot even you knew was a bullseye. The room was loud and rowdy as if Richmond had won a championship game. Even Rebecca was cheering. Bex whispered something to Rupert and the two made a quiet exit.
âHoly shit that felt good!â Rebecca shouted.
âThat was fun.â Ted agreed. âOnly one thing left to do now.â He leaned over and whispered something to Rebecca.
âDo I have to?â She sighed before rolling her eyes. âAll right then. DRINKS ARE ON ME!â
The cheers and chanting continued as Mae and her staff kept the beers and drinks flowing. You and Beard approached Ted who was collecting the darts and wiping away the chalk scoreboard.
âYou two were checking up on me, werenât you?â He asked you. âYou donât have to worry about me having a mental breakdown at the pub. Mostly âcause I donât think Mae would allow it.â He joked. âIâm glad youâre here though. Saves me the trouble of having to tell the story later.â

No Place Like Home (Part 43)

Words: 1031
Pairing: Ted Lasso x Reader             Â
Summary:Â With things between Reader and Ted finally heading in a good direction, Reader turns their attention to a bigger issue. Rebeccaâs purposeful sabotage of Richmond.Â
After your chat with Keeley, you headed back to the Managerâs office. It was still technically a workday so most of the players were sticking around to work out or practice on the pitch. Ted was alone in the office, but he was smiling when you walked in.
âYou and Keeley get your girl talk in?â He questioned.
âYup. You get to talk to Beard?â You countered.
âI did.â He nodded. âI guess all thatâs left is to tell the fellas when weâre ready.â
âWe should plan on doing that soon, Iâm sure theyâll figure somethingâs up.â You moved to your desk only for Roy to take your place in the doorway. He growled.
âSomething on your mind, Roy?â Ted asked. The captain glanced between you and Ted before sighing.
âMe and Keeley might be starting up a thing,â He announced, stuffing his hands into his jacket. âBut every time I think about her, all I think about is Jamie Fucking Tartt.â
âI know exactly what to do here.â Ted picked his phone up and began texting someone.
âWhat are you doing?â Roy asked him nervously.
âNo need to fret my fine furry fella for I am rounding up the Diamond Dogs!â Ted explained with conviction.
âWho the fuck are the Diamond Dogs?â Roy looked to you. You offered him a shrug of uncertainty in response.
âIâm going to give you twoâŚâ You started to get up but Roy stopped you.
âNo. You stay.â Â He ordered. âPlease?â He added. âYouâre her friend and you know how she thinks and feels.â Roy stepped out of the doorway as Beard approached. The assistant coach sat at his desk. Higgins entered the office from the weight room.
âSo this is about you and Keeley right?â Nate asked, bringing up the rear.
âSaw this coming.â Beard added.
âOkay, this is my fucking nightmare.â Roy gestured at the three men whoâd joined the conversation.
âI think you and Keeley are like cookies and cream.â Ted said. âTwo great tastes that go great together, right?â
âYes, I am into her, but we all know who her ex-boyfriend is!â Roy complained. âThe prince prick of all pricks!â
âI didnât think youâd care so much about who someoneâs ex was Roy.â You jumped in. âI mean heâs her ex for a reason.â
âKeeleyâs just so kind.â Nate remarked. âTo be liked by someone like her must be wonderful.â
âNow, câmon yâall! Sure, Roy here has slept with a bunch of different people in his past.â Ted got up from his chair and clapped Roy on the back. âBut Keeleyâs got her own romantic and sexual history that predates Roy. And Thatâs not okay!â Â
âOhhh he means the opposite.â Nate pointed out.
âI love it when Coach does sarcasm!â Beard interjected.
âI canât control my feelings.â Roy argued.
âWell, then by all means you should let them control you!â Ted agreed sarcastically. He moved back to his desk and sat down. âLet me ask you something Roy, you kissed [Y/N] before didnât ya? You canât deny it, everyone in this room saw you kissinâ at least once.â
âWhatâs your point?â Roy grumbled.
âWell, do you think I shouldnât date [Y/N] just because I know you and her kissed before and was living together?â Ted probed.
âWho said we were living together?â Roy demanded.
âI put two and two together when you started coming to work with each other every single day.â Ted replied. âYou didnât answer my question.â
âNo of course not, but thatâs different.â Roy snarled.
âBecause youâre not the prince of all pricks?â Ted wondered. Roy didnât say anything. Ted had brought up a fair point.
âRoy, you asked me to stay because Iâm Keeleyâs friend too, right?â He grunted in agreement. âKeeley likes you. She really likes you. Who she was with before you shouldnât matter.â
âCoach, you wanna bring this home?â Ted asked Beard.
âGrow up and get over it.â Bead remarked.
âThe Diamond Dogs have struck again!â Ted proclaimed. The men in the room began to bark like a pack of wild dogs.
âPricks.â Roy muttered before leaving the office.
âThank you, gentlemen, as always for your service.â Ted offered up a salute to Higgins, Nate and Roy. âSpeaking of service, that reminds me, I promised Rebecca Iâd go to a meeting with some of the minority owners with her. I believe weâre meeting at the Crown and Anchor, just gonna pop upstairs and confirm that with her.â He left the office in search of Rebecca.
âI should get out of the pitch. Theyâll be nearly done with training.â Nate also excused himself from the room.
âWhat and eventful afternoon.â Higgins remarked, but when he headed for the door Coach Beard stopped him.
âHiggins, do you got a minute for me and [Y/N] to chat with you?â Beard asked. Higginsâ eyes darted towards you.
âWould this be about what I said on Friday before you got on the bus?â He questioned.
âWe just want to know if you have any proof that You-Know-Who has been doing You-Know-What.â You responded vaguely.
âOf course, youâd want proof. No one is going to believe a club owner could do something soâŚsoâŚâ Higgins appeared to be at a loss for words. He heaved a great sigh. âUnfortunately, I cannot provide proof of any wrongdoing. Rebeccaâs been very crafty, not leaving a paper trail of anything.â
âOkay, well then can you be our man on the inside? Keep an eye on things let us know what sheâs planning next?â You asked him.
âIâd be glad to! The trouble is,â Higgins frowned. âIâm afraid Iâve been shut out. I doubt Rebecca will tell me any of her plans. Sheâs been cross with me since Daniâs injury and the cleansing of the treatment room. She wasnât pleased I assisted Ted with boosting the teamâs morale. But I shall try my best to help in any way possible.â
âIn the meantime, I guess itâs up to us, Coach. You have any plans tonight?â You looked over at Beard.
âI assume youâre going to suggest we have dinner together at the Crown and Anchor?â He guessed.
âItâs like you read my mind.â You smirked.

Fighting Dragons With You (pt 3)
Part 1 / Part 2 /
Words: 1954
Cast of Characters: Young!Leia, Obi Wan Kenobi & Reader Â
Summary: Obi Wan has arrived to rescue Leia and Reader, but the trio have a long way to go before they are returned safely to Alderaan.Â
Leia, ever vigilant in her effort to not leave you behind, had stopped running when you dropped her hand. She could tell from reading your body language, or maybe it was the force, that the man who held on to you wasnât a threat. She approached slowly and stood behind you. Obi-Wan let go of your wrist. He wasnât sure where to look.
The ten-year-old girl standing just barely beyond his grasp was so clearly Leia that it made his chest ache. Her hairstyle, though frizzing slightly from her travels was just the sort of fashionable thing a younger Padme would have worn. The scrunch of her brows and the cautious gaze she was assessing him with was all Anakin. That punch heâd taken to the gut? Well, that could have been either of them.
And you. Looking at you, it was as if no time had passed at all. Yes, your jedi robes had been replaced by garments of Alderaanian style. Your eyes looked just a little more tired and the faintest of wrinkles had begun to form on your features. But you were still so completelyâŚyou. Alderaan had been good to you. He could feel it in The Force.
With one arm protectively extended to shield Leia, you looked over Obi-Wan. You were searching for some sense of familiarity, but everything about him felt different. The twin suns of Tatooine had not been kind to your old friend. Aside from the tanning of his skin and the permanent lines etched into his face, the sand planet had taken Obi-Wanâs confidence, his trust.
The guilt washed over you in waves. While youâd been living comfortably on the Organaâs credits heâd been left alone, haunted by things you couldnât imagine. You hadnât even managed to keep a little girl safe. While he was carrying the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders. As if the ghosts, the grief, and the isolation hadnât been enough, heâd risked his own safety to chase after you.
Bail had to have been the one to contacted him. The Viceroy was the only person, other than you, who knew how to get in contact with Obi-Wan. Heâd put himself at risk by leaving Tatooine, by exposing himself. Still heâd come. Bail had asked and heâd come. Because thatâs who Obi-Wan was.
âAre you crying, [Y/N]?â Leia was the first to notice. You brought a hand to your cheek to find that yes, you were crying. When did that start? You wondered. You dried your eyes with the sleeve of your tunic.
âItâs okay.â You reach down and took Leiaâs hand again. âWeâre going to be okay now.â You promised. âLeia Organa, this is my very good friendâŚâ You paused. Youâd been living under pseudonym on Alderaan and assumed Obi-Wan would do the same. Even something as simple as changing your name might keep the Empire off your scent.
âBen.â He introduced himself. âMy name is Ben. Itâs a pleasure to finally meet you, Princess.â
âHow do you know Iâm a princess?â Leia questioned suspiciously.
âBen is also friends with your father. Iâm guessing thatâs how he was able to find us so quickly.â You looked to Obi-Wan for confirmation.
âBail contacted me as soon as he realized you were missing. He was certain I was the only person who could ensure you were both returned safely to Alderaan.â He nodded. âHe also, wanted to make sure you had this in case you needed it.â
It took most of your will power not to snatch the object held in Obi-Wanâs outstretched hands. Not weighing much more than a blaster, your lightsaber had been an extension of your own arms for so long. Beautifully carved with elegant swirls up and down its metal hilt, with leather wrappings for grips. Small coppery accents that had taken the longest to forge. It was a work of art.
âIâve missed you old girl.â You whispered before accepting the saber and quickly tucking it away. Jedi were supposed treat their saber as a tool. They were not supposed to anthropomorphize them or assign a personality to them. But it was a new era and all the condescending nay-sayers were long gone. You were going to treat your lightsaber like the friend sheâd always been to you.
âIs that a lightsaber?â Leia remarked just a little too loud for yours or Obi-Wanâs comfort. Out of habit you both shushed her. âAre you a jedi?â
âWeâd better get moving.â Obi-Wan urged.
âThereâs not time to explain right now.â You told her. âFor now weâre going to do what ObâŚBen says.â
âOh, so this is Obi-Wan.â Leia gave you a knowing smile.
âHow did youâŚwhat have you told her about me?â He asked.
âWe donât have time. Have to move right?â You reminded him.
âYes, very well. This way.â Obi-Wan sighed, agreeing under duress. You were right, you really didnât have time right now. So heâd plan a lecture for the dangers of oversharing when you were safely on a transport off world. Instead he led you out of the storage facility and onto the streets. Even with a crowded street of eccentrically dressed off worlders you, Leia and Obi-Wan stood out.
âI donât suppose youâve got three changes of clothes with you under that robe yours.â You asked him.
âNo, I donât.â He answered a little gruff. âJust as I assumed you didnât fill your pockets with any credits before getting kidnapped.â
âWeâd certainly be in a better position if I had.â You sighed. âSo whatâs the plan?â
âDid my ears deceive me or did [Y/N] just suggest we have a plan?â Obi-Wan teased. It very strange after everything youâd been through for him to joke so easily. For the two of you to slip into familiar banter. Then again, it had always been easy with Obi-Wan.
âWe need to change. Leia and I are overdressed for this place and youâŚhave you been wearing the same robes for ten years?â You tilted your head to the side, pretending to assess his attire.
âIâve changed them!â He countered defensively. âMy cloak isnât even the same shade of brown.â He adjusted his robes, disappointed you hadnât noticed. âThe shopping stalls are this way.â He remarked impatiently. âThereâs a port on the other side of the city, we need to make it to the last transport.â
You and Leia browsed the first shopping stall you came upon. At first the princess protested at wearing the plain green cloak you selected for her. You reminded Leia that half the city was looking for you. You needed to blend in. She groaned but allowed you to wrap her in the green cloak jus the same. You stripped off your tunic behind a rack and quickly replaced it with a pale grey poncho. It had a roomy hood that could cover your face, and a hem that went past your waist which would hide your saber.
Leia had somehow managed to persuade Obi-Wan into purchasing a pair of gloves for her as well. Once the tab was paid you ushed the pair of them away from the stall. If you hadnât the Princess may have charmed her new Uncle out of all his emergency credits.
âWeâll need a story.â You pointed out. The three of you walked together with Leia between you and Obi-Wan.
âSimple enough. Weâre a family of farmers from Tawl.â Obi-Wan answered, it was clear heâd already been thinking of it. âYou are my wife and Leia is out daughter.â It was silly, and all a lie of course, but hearing Obi-Wan call you his wife made your heart skip a beat.
âHow come Iâve never seen your lightsaber before, [Y/N]?â Leia asked.
âBecause it was hidden. If I were to carry it all the time it could get me in trouble. We talked about this in your studies.â You reminded her.
âYes, but you said all the jedi are dead. Youâre both still alive. What else have you lied to me about?â She wanted to know.
âLeia Iâve never lied to you. I said the Jedi were extinct which is true enough. Neither Obi-Wan nor I are Jedi anymore and weâre the last two left, as far as we know. As soon as weâre home, this lightsaber is going right back to your father and weâre both going to forget about it, is that clear?â Leia nodded.
âYouâve taught her about Jedi?â Obi-Wan asked.
âOnly what the other children her age learn when talking about the Clone Wars. Iâm sure youâve had similar conversations withâŚyour young student.â You had to remind yourself that it was still much too soon for Leia to know everything. You also werenât exactly in the clear yet. The last thing you needed was for someone on Daiyu to hear that Luke Skywalker was safe and sound on Tatooine.
âIâm afraid my pupil and I donât have quite the relationship that you have with yours.â Obi-Wan replied. There was a hint of sadness in his tone. Maybe even jealousy.
The three of you continued moving through the shopping area. You found an alley that appeared empty until a Bounty Hunter rushed forward out of it. You thanked the force for your reflexes as you were able to take the hunter down quietly. His bounty puck still had to be delt with since they sometimes contained trackers. You reached over and detached the puck from the Bounty Hunterâs wrist as Leia and Obi-Wan followed you into the alley. You tossed the puck to the ground about to step on it and reduce it to pieces.
âThatâs going to be a problem.â You complained when you realized who the high prized bounty puck was for.
âWhat is it?â You felt Obi-Wanâs hand rest on your lower back as he looked over your shoulder, trying to see the puck. You tried not to focus on the touch. The alleyway was a little tight and he needed the extra support to balance on his toes. âOh my! Thatâs quite a large sum of credits.â
âHigh treason.â You remarked, reading the bounty puck. âWho did you tick off on the wrong side of the galaxy?â
âI donât know, but I wouldnât rule your capture as unrelated just yet.â He sighed.
âYou think someone sent those first Bounty Hunters to capture Leia as a way to lure you out?â You sucked in a breath. That was something you hadnât considered. The idea that someone knew Obi-Wan was still alive and wanted him found badly enough they would place a bounty on him had your stomach turning. âYou think they werenât targeting the Organas at all.â
âI canât be certain.â Obi-Wan reminded you. âBail did inform me heâs put forward a fair amount of unpopular legislation as of late. He thought someone might be trying to force him into backing down. I was willing to consider alternative motivations.â
âYou though someone was looking for you, but you came anyway?â You asked. You werenât sure if you wouldâve had the courage to do what Obi-Wan was claiming to have done.
âI know you would have.â Obi-Wan remarked. After reading you through The Force. It wasnât like he was trying to pry into your mind. You just always seemed to be screaming your emotions to him through The Force. He stepped forward effectively crushing the Bounty puck.
âHow can you be so sure of something that Iâm not even sure of?â You asked.
âYou would have come to rescue me for the same reason Iâve done for you and Leia.â He insisted.
âYou were offered a large sum of republic credits?â You asked.
âIâd do anything to know you were safe.â He told you.
