This is more of a concept than anything, and it's definitely one that's been done before, but I am an unapologetically Leo-centric writer. As such, I can't let go of the missed potential tmnt 2012 had with the healing hands.

You're telling me that's just a thing that suddenly became a thing and is a really useful thing that is just never brought up at all?? And it's a useful, all-healing thing with no drawbacks??? At all??

I hate that, not only is this never relevant again, but that it was so haphazardly thrown in and never given a proper background. Like sure it's a good plot device for the episode it was a part of I guess, but but. When you just put it in there, it makes viewers look back on all the times Splinter could have used it, but just didn't. I know that's just how things go sometimes, but like..??? When they're out getting hurt so often, you need to have a good excuse for why this is just suddenly a thing being introduced so late in the game.

There's been fics out there that explored this concept and I love them dearly because this bugged even 11-12 year old me. However, there's a small twist I wanted to give this idea >:)

Only snippet I can share (which is still subject to change) is this one:

His brother's there, witness to his selfish act; to his head poised over that steady rhythm, a hand grasping on for dear life. Thump, thump, it sings to him. It brings a smile to his face, one that pulls at muscles long forgotten. Donnie's eyes are wide, incredulous and disbelieving. A tremor goes up and down his hands, an accusing finger locked on target. "What did you do?" He takes aim and fires. As the brilliant person he's always proven himself to be, he doesn't miss. The words are dripping with disgust. And Leonardo can only flinch and look away from those searching searching, scared eyes, not able to say a single thing.

Main thing keeping me from finishing this is that I have to rewatch episodes and haven't had the time :']

Okay, so, I’ve seen other people post about this quite a bit—but it’s always bothered me how, in the season 1 finale, Splinter tells Leo that he has to save the world and that nothing else matters, blah blah blah, including that bit about sacrifice and junk and I just.

Why.

Why would you say that to your Teenage Son—who you know would do anything to protect his brothers? Who had already been shown to have those self-sacrificing tendencies in “Follow the Leader”?

Just makes you think about some things…

And I will never be one to suggest that Splinter is a bad father (because have you seen the way he interacts with his sons??). Like yes, he’s old fashioned and his wording can seem stilted or distant at times, but c’mon people! He makes sure to spend time with each of them individually. He is constantly helping Raph work through his anger issues, gets Donnie to see that his brothers rely on him more than for his intelligence and what he can make, makes Mikey see that being a goofball with a tender heart can be a good thing, and helps Leo see that not every decision needs to be made alone and/or at his own expense.

Yes, Splinter does make it clear to Leo that his brothers’ safety is of the utmost importance when they leave the lair, but at no point in time does he say that Leo is less important than his brothers or that he wants Leo to sacrifice himself!! Leo reads into the messages way too much in the moment (or perhaps doesn’t read into them enough??) and makes decisions that HE thinks are for the best.

okay so for my fic “i’m not too claustrophobic (but i lose my breath sometimes” i have 9 chapters i’ve yet to write but i’ve named: “i’m better off (not feeling stress or feeling bliss)”, “now i can’t eveb talk to you”, “maybe someday when i’m older (i’ll be better off like you)”, “i won’t be feeling much (at least i won’t be feeling this”, “why the hell can’t i get mad?”, “i wanna feel that now (sorry if i can’t see how)”, “someday, won’t this be long ago?”, “someday, someday, someday”, and “but i know i’ll never get there.” All titles are from ajr’s touchy feely fool. Honestly 50/50 on whether i finish this fic at some point or keep it abandoned.

as for other wips:

“i’ve fallen down a well (with a ladder made of vines” from august greenwood’s in the black. Rest assured that i will be titling a fic after that song sooner or later, even tho this fic is abandoned.
