“If anyone needs to go camping in my state…” “If anyone needs to visit their aunt/cousin/friend…”
STOP. STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP.
FOR YOUR SAFETY, S T O P.
Tumblr media
DO NOT VOLUNTEER TO HOST RANDOM STRANGERS. DO NOT AGREE TO BE HOSTED BY A RANDOM STRANGER.
DO NOT PUBLICLY POST THAT YOUR HOUSE WILL BE AN ABORTION SAVE HAVEN. OFFICIAL NETWORKS TO DO THIS ALREADY EXIST, NETWORKS THAT HAVE THE ABILITY TO BACKGROUND CHECK, AND SHIELD THEIR VOLUNTEERS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT.
Even IF you personally know every person you’re offering this to and know with 100% certainty that they’re legit: YOU HAVE JUST CREATED A POTENTIALLY LEGALLY DAMNING DIGITAL PAPER TRAIL.
I know how obnoxious this is to say, but please: reblog this. I see these posts a lot, and I know most of you have good intentions. But these unoffical auntie networks are dangerous, both for those trying to help, and those seeking help. Law enforcement sees you. Violent anti-abortion extremists see you.

In light of recent events, I would like to remind everyone that the correct pro choice talking point that will actually pull people to our side is NOT whether a fetus is human or not because you'll never win. The correct argument is how the state should never have the power to force you to give up physical autonomy for the sake of any other being.

i literally do not care if you are pro-birth and thinking - this will save babies! it will not. it will kill, injure, and traumatize grown adults instead.
the law has just decided that constitutional rights to bodily autonomy will be localized. this is not a fucking win for anyone. there will be places in this country that your bodily autonomy will be revoked.
how are people going to travel? will i have to prove i'm not pregnant before leaving my state? will they have border checks to check i'm not a "likely" candidate for an abortion? will i have to travel with a man to prove i'm being safe?
what happens if i get pregnant in a state that has made abortion illegal? do i need to stay there, now, until the forced birth? what happens if i didn't know i was pregnant, and find out in that state - will i be allowed to go home without fear of being fined? what happens if i miscarry while travelling, through no fault of my own?
will every person that might be able to get pregnant have to sign over their rights every time they cross a border? will i have to remember the specifics of every state's laws?
what happens in cases of sexual assault. will i be able to report something happening to me in an anti-abortion state? or will the punishment for abortion be equally dangerous? how does this protect victims at all?
and do you really think - i mean really think - this won't be an excuse for police offices to run fucking unchecked over anyone. we could be pregnant, after all. black women and minorities specifically will be targeted, abused, and controlled.
the supreme court didn't just decide that abortion was a state issue: it decided that your locality in the united states of america will determine your physical rights.
fuck this. and fuck the supreme court, one and all.

make no mistake, the people who just struck roe v wade down and the people who support that decision in other executive positions — they will have access to abortions for their children, their affairs. this will not affect the people in power in this country and this is not about being “pro-life.” it’s about controlling our most vulnerable populations and people in those groups are going to disproportionately die because of it. if you support that, unfollow me and get the fuck off my blog. you are not welcome.

This year, on the 31 March, we lost Gilbert Baker, gay artist and creator of the gay pride flag. Today we would celebrate his 66th birthday. Let’s remember him as the wonderful person he was.

Remember that people who aren’t women also need and want abortions. Include and protect trans and intersex people in this conversation. Keep watch for terf rhetoric and dogwhistles. Terfs will use this as ammunition.
