        Brow creased when she began to speak, unaware of where she would go from there. But as her face reddened and the words came out more certainly, Li Jing broke into a wide smile. His cheeks hurt almost in an instant to hear she wanted to be his wife. How they would go about it, he didn’t know. They would work on that later, but for now he stared at Feng Jiu with the most love filled eyes. 

        He followed suit in slipping out from beneath the covers and stood up, arms snatched her waist to pull her flush to his body where he look down at her. What she just said was marvelous- and it was so easy to picture her as his bride. Because in that moment she was. Nothing could stop them from marrying right that second- and oh, how he wanted to. And oh, how they would. 

         “You are my bride. And will be my wife in however long it takes us to go through with this,” Li Jing said, forehead pressed to forehead, his heartbeat fast with anticipation. “And the mother of my children.” 

         He could only hope for that, however. 

»»———— “Yes, yes - ” Laughs breathlessly, dark eyes glittering with joy as she peers up at him through wet lashes and smiling as though she might burst, whispers the last affirmation with a low and reverent voice.  “ - And YES.  I want to have a family with you.” She wants to be all of those things, has wanted them for perhaps longer than she could say.

The beginnings of the plan formed shortly after she had stumbled upon him mourning yet another child lost to Xuan Nu’s ruthlessness - witnessing as she always did, heart falling to pieces but HELPLESS, how sad he was, and how much he aches for a family. She had thought then - that she could give him one, wanted to give him one, if he would only let her.

Winds her arms around him and steps onto her tiptoes to whisper the words of the vow against his lips, sealing it with a kiss. It seems to her then as it did even clearer now that they practically WERE family anyway - and it isn’t hard at all to imagine raising a child with his eyes, isn’t hard at all to imagine them a life, isn’t hard at all to imagine loving him like this FOR FOREVER.

        “And I love you.” Kisses placed one after another to petal soft lips. The freedom to say that, after years, an opportunity never missed once he had gotten permission that it in fact was okay. That she wanted him to say it as much as he wanted to say it. The permission for them to have a life and future together. Donghua couldn’t be more grateful than he was. 

        A deep, warm chuckle escaped his throat when she attacked his jaw with kisses. Ah, the middle of the night playful naughtiness he came to enjoy more than he originally thought upon seeing it for himself some time ago. And in turn, he dragged fingers teasingly slow over her sides.

        “Perhaps you’re worn out between Li Jing and I spending time with you as well as Gun Gun waking up in the middle of the night for someone to change him,” Donghua said thoughtful, taking in the adorableness of her scrunched up face. 

»»———— “Mmm, maybe that’s what it is. Somehow I can’t complain about being kept BUSY though.” Wriggles slightly beneath his touch trailing over her side - she grins at him, eyes sparkling, full of HAPPINESS for the way their little family has been pulled together.

They had a rocky start but - it worked out well in the end. For Gun Gun, too - three parents instead of two and all of their love and care.

“Still, not being able to get up on time must be affecting EVERYTHING ELSE.” She makes a little face, reaching her arms over her head to stretch out like a cat, before draping them casually over him. “I feel nauseous a lot somehow - maybe I should go see Zhe Yan in the morning, just in case I’m coming down with something. Don’t want to get you or Li Jing or Gun Gun sick.”

        “I’ll never get tired of you.” Unimaginable to think of even being tired of her in the long run, everyone got tired now and again, but she was too good of a person, too kind. Who would ever think of throwing the girl aside. Of growing tired of her. “I’ll never.” A kiss planted to the side of her neck. 

»»———— “...Everyone always does...” Sighs softly at the warmth of his breath on the side of her neck. “...But is it weird that I believe you?” He's too good and TOO KIND to do something like that. Smile touches her lips at the thought, mischievous, as she leans her forehead against his, whispering. “I’m going to take that as a promise. Promise you’ll come visit A LOT once you’re well again?” Admits, a little embarrassed. “I’ve gotten used to...this.”

"You're pregnant," Zhe Yan announced, a few beats passing and he took a pill out for her from his sleeve and placed it in her palm. "Take this. It's a prenatal."

»»———— Pill jumps in palm as she startles, looking up quickly with GLITTERING EYES - “I am?” Smile blooms, already stretching wide across face - she takes the medicine without usual complaint to the taste of Zhe Yan’s concoctions. “ - That’s really fast!”

FASTER than they’d been expecting - ah, if only Li Jing hadn’t left. She wants to tell him right this second, wants to press herself into his arms and give him the news - but no matter, it gives her time to think up a way to tell him the second he comes home.

»———— “That’s good...” Head too LIGHT to think of it properly, though there’s a crease in her brow. “Just - just remember to take care of yourself too. Who’s going to feed me that gross potion if you get sick too?”

She makes a face before she drinks the medicine, hand rested feather light on top of his, the one that was holding the bowl. Has NEVER liked the taste of herbs but - he’s gone to the trouble of making her some, and then gone to the trouble of feeding it to her. The least she can do is drink it.

        “I do most of what needs done whenever you sleep,” Lian Song answered, holding the other question in his heart. That had no answer, but how she said it meant more to him than she may ever realize. 

         Steam still rose from the medicine and he blew on it before lifting it to Cheng Yu’s lips. He worried about how much pain she was in that she couldn’t even get out of bed very long, or handle light very well. But the only thing he could do was take care of her and ensure she got medicine.
