i know it is quite literally a decade old joke by now, but despite all the hooey people toss around about MLP being secretly an adult show because it featured themes of racism and slavery, the one running theme i am actually shocked they got away with depicting was day drinking

like, there are multiple episodes where it is established that what these ponies love after a good hard day of work is a frothing glass of alcohol. Not milk, not ice cream, not some kiddie alcohol metaphor, but just straight up hard apple cider. Even Fluttershy loved to drink her mind out. We didn't even need Berry Punch jokes, the show did it for us. Smegging fantastic.

'fuck rich people' is always a good message. please dont think im defending rich people. but there are much better ways to do that message than by making a group of rich people and having every line come out of their mouth be snobbery and having your poor character trying to educate one of them on how to be a good parent and having your musical number be the flattest 'fuck rich people' song ive ever heard and ending your pilot with an angel killing every rich person. Ramshackle (at least the pilot, again) wants so badly to be punk but it isnt there. Its saying the right thing but theres just no substance.
