alright, yesterday evening my supervisor sent me back his edits and comments on my draft. He said - suprisingly - that this was a very good draft. But there needs to be done some work on the focus of the work and what is special about my work in comparison to previous studies. I see that as well.
But reading some of his comments and question marks (?), I feel like, he didn’t really read what I wrote… I know from the (time of the) comments, he spent the Sunday evening reading it but maybe not going over it again. I mean, yes, I understand, the first impression counts and you should read a paper and understand it. But to be honest, I don’t understand genetic papers or papers of other scientific fields either the first time reading them. I think, I don’t need to elaborate on everything I write. And it is normal, that you sometimes forget what was written in the methods part while reading the results, but when you review the paper there should be at least some scrolling up and checking whether I have written something about the part which has a comment: “?”.
Anyway, we have a telefone call in 2 hours. In general, I am glad that he liked the draft and the comments are fair most of the times as well. It is just sometimes you know… I dont understand the comments or have other opinions xD How do you guys deal with comments from your supervisors on your draft?
