My copy of FF7 Remake arrived early yesterday as I’m in the UK and Square Enix shipped copies to the EU early to make sure we received ours for the street date. I won’t be spoiling anything here, but I thought I’d post up a piece of fanart I’ve been working on ahead of the game coming out. It’s been literal tens of years since I put this much effort into anything Final Fantasy 7 related (I was one of those weebs who did a ton of fanart back in secondary school and at uni), so it felt really great to connect back in with that version of myself who did tons of game fanart for the sheer love of it. I’m getting back to that state now after a lot of years of putting it to one side due to work. The sky background for this was a very loose wash of purple and fuschia ink with a little yellow thrown in to produce a few peachy bits. I based it off screenshots of the sky behind Cosmo Canyon to try and match the general palette, but I didn’t want to base the picture in town scenery-wise as I thought too much of the sky would be blocked out (the initial location that sprung to mind was the campfire as an obvious setting, but that would be almost entirely surrounded by cliffs and buildings).  I’m really happy with how Red’s lineart came out. I’ve never done much fanart of him in particular, but he was a permanent fixture in my party in my original playthrough of the game, and I’ve always loved his design. Four legged JRPG party members are something I have a soft spot for.  Who was in your party for your playthrough of the original game?

This is a piece I did for myself to explore how I could approach different types of backdrops. This sunset has a background sky layer, then the palm trees, sea and beach were done on different pieces of paper and layered over the top. The Sylveon and other picture elements were raised off the background using craft foam and glue.  Sylveon has my favourite shiny appearance of the Eeveelutions so it was a lot of fun doing fanart of it.

Commission Process and Price Guide
Please note that I am open to commission ideas for a broad range of video game themes, but for simplicity I am outlining my pricing using Pokemon as those are the commissions I’ve worked with so far. I have recently done a Final Fantasy 7 piece for myself and am thinking of doing a Zelda and Animal Crossing piece soon for example. The pieces I produce are semi 3D ink painted pieces in a box frame, so the individual elements that make up the piece are hand drawn, painted, and cut out and glued on pieces of craft foam to give a 3D effect and feeling of depth. If you are interested in mixed media additions for scenery items, such as wool or fabric, I can potentially work this in for you. Price Guide 20cm by 20cm aperture frame with one Pokemon featured: £45 30cm by 30cm aperture frame with one Pokemon featured: £50 30cm by 30cm aperture frame with two Pokemon featured: £55 The above is a rough guide to pricing, obviously the price could differ if what you are looking for has some custom elements that increase the time I would need to spend on the item. I could do two Pokemon in a 20cm frame, but the amount of space would make the picture potentially feel a bit cramped or I’d need to make them a lot smaller, so I would recommend a 30cm frame for more than one Pokemon ideally.  I do need to highlight that postage is not included in the above prices, so please keep that in mind, especially if you are ordering from outside of the United Kingdom. Right now our mail services are still open in the UK, but if the situation escalates and I cannot send your order out, I will of course store it in a safe place until services resume. Commission Process Initially you would send me a message here, or on Instagram or Etsy to start the process of discussing what you are looking for and if I feel I can work with the idea and produce what you have in mind. Details like picture elements, poses, scenery items etc are all discussed as well as what size and colour frame you would like. If you are ordering a Pokemon picture you can decide if you would like the regular or shiny colour palette. Once I get the details I can discuss what the price would be and check that your timeframe works for how long the picture will take to create.  Once the above has happened and you’re happy with the price and timeframe discussed, I can go ahead and draft up your picture. This involves creating the lineart for the picture elements (any Pokemon or characters and scenery items) and arranging them against a plain background. At this point none of the pieces are painted and if I am unsure if I’ve got a pose correct I will leave the character drawn in pencil so I can correct it with your feedback. I will take a photo of the composition to show to you as a draft outline of what I intend to go forward with, and if you have any feedback for me I will rework pieces that need it or add other scenery pieces in that you request.  Once you’re happy with the draft piece, I will put a listing up on Etsy for £10 for you to purchase as a deposit. This covers my materials so that I’m not out of pocket if you have to pull out of the order after I start painting and it also outlines terms for the order so that everything is officially in place for work to start.  After this point I will likely check in with progress pics as I work to make sure you are happy with how the piece is progressing and I will also show you a final photo to ensure you’re happy with the final composition before I start gluing things into place. Once the piece is done to a finished standard, I will show you final photos and check if there are any minor tweaks I can make. I will then put up a listing on my Etsy store for the remaining cost with postage for you to purchase, and then the piece will be sent out asap. You can see my Etsy store for reviews from previous clients.

Hi there! I’m Natalie, a video game loving traditional artist creating mostly nature themed pieces from my Fenland home in the UK. I’ve decided to start a Tumblr because two of my first commissions came to me due to a Facebook post that a friend shared on their Tumblr, so I suspect my work may appeal to some of the fan communities with a presence here. I’m kicking this blog off with the above Leafeon art I created, which was the second experiment I did with cutting out the picture elements and raising them off the background. I now offer this style of picture for commission pieces and have completed one piece for a client which was very well received. You can check out my instagram for images of all the pieces I’ve done recently, and I’ll be updating this Tumblr with them all as I go. Each piece is bespoke and I create everything you see in the picture myself. Pictures come complete with a frame ready to hang on a wall. I’ll do a post outlining my commission process and a rough price guide soon. https://www.instagram.com/studiolumitar/ https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/StudioLumitar
