Found my favorite spot on campus! I’m definitely feeling a bit disappointed with my master’s program, but only 1.5 semesters left!

First week of classes and internship down! Since things aren’t totally crazy yet, I’m going to try and get a head start on some reading. I just know that in a couple of weeks, I’ll be swamped

I've always loved bullet journaling. It was a creative way to be productive, and it gave me a way to stay organized. In the past year or so, I slowly stopped making time to create new spreads. This was the last one I created, and that was probably about 9 months ago. With everything going on in my life right now, bullet journaling just isn't practical for me anymore.
It's taken me a long time to come to terms with that and to accept that it's okay. The guilt/feeling that I was dropping the ball on something turned my once beloved creative outlet into a dreaded chore, and that pisses me off.
For now, I'm content with using a premade planner to organize myself. Maybe one day, I'll have the time and inspiration to bujo again..

studying tips for ex-gifted kid academics :)
Just thought I’d share some of my personal tricks to make studying easier and efficient;
• Planning one week ahead
It’s super important to stay ahead of schedule, especially in university, so organize your planner as efficiently as possible and make sure you stay on top of your assignements and readings
•Sticky notes
Write down key aspects or vocabulary, whatever it is you need to memorise, on sticky notes and put them in your textbooks. This will highlight the main ideas and make it easier to retain information.
•Find a study cycle that works with you and stick to it
Personnally, studying in 20/10 minutes cycles work best for my attention span. Other popular cycles include studying for 40min/break for 15, or studying for 15min/break for 5min. However any tempo that suits you is what you should try to keep. I try to aim for at least 6 cycles daily (add up to about 2 hours of actual studying)
• Summarizing
After each class, try to mentally go through what you learned and write it out on a piece of paper. This will help you train your memory and help you retain information easier. Also try to make recap sheets for your classes and put them at the beginning of your notebook/textbook.
• Keep in mind your goals
Keeping in mind your long-term and short-term goals will really motivate you to do your best and study more.
•Don’t overwork yourself
Now,I know that time can pass really quickly once you actually get down to work, however, overworking will cause more harm than good. Please do take breaks, keep hydrated and do things that you enjoy, otherwise you will very likely experience a burn-out.
• Music
Finding a playlist, podcast or background music that you can work to will both make you more efficient and definitely more focused. I personnally recommend classical music or cafe/library asmr or lo-fi beats (I find that music with lyrics end up distracting me when i study)
That was it, feel free to comment if you have any other tips!

My first step is taking notes on all of my previous class PowerPoints. With classes having been online through Zoom this past year, I feel that I wasn't able to fully absorb as much of the information as I otherwise would've. It'll be a lot of material to sift through in such a short amount of time, but it will (hopefully) be worth it!

Wow, I haven't updated this account since I was a pre-med junior in undergrad and apparently an Evolutionary Biology major??? Not sure when that decision was made, but it certainly didn't last long.
I'm currently in my second (and final!) Year of my Master's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program while also working to complete my internship and study for the CPCE and NCE.
I'm hoping to revive this account to document my journey, motivate myself and others to not procrastinate, and have some fun!

Every single time I say the phrase “I was classically trained in the art of multiple choice tests” everyone in the room who’s not a millennial laughs at my joke while all the other millennials in the room immediately look like they just walked in on a funeral by accident.

here is a gentle reminder: it’s ok to have a rest and treat yourself. call your friend you’ve been trying to agree on meeting up for months, grab your classmate, fellow student, your family member, treat them with some huge ass pizza and wine, get dizzy together, laugh, tell embarrassing stories, cry if you feel like it, because for gods sake this is what life is for ✨ academic success is important and all, but what is more important is you and your well-being, so put the goddamn pen and that piles of beautufullly written notes and have.a.rest.
p.s. treating yourself with a huge ass pizza and wine is perfectly ok too! i do this every now and then absolutely alone when I don’t feel like being social or talking in public so this is a perfect getaway 🍂
