february is for finishing 🏃‍♀️💪
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are the goals i actually care about achieving this month!
i probably won't actually finish all of them — the goal is mainly to make good progress, but i wanted the ✨ alliteration effect ✨
finish listening/reading all these Korean A1/2 stories 🤩
finish listening/reading all these Chinese HSK2/3 stories 🤓
try all the exercises in this this workout plan now that i'm pain-free 🥺
finish reading Sophie's World 🌎
finish re-watching Exclusive Fairytale 🐇
finish watching CYZJ 🎤
💌: that's it, just a short(?) list for a short month, especially since i have swe work and psych classes to keep up with on top of these 😅

Exclusive Fairytale

noticed a dip in posts about palestine on my dash, so i think it deserves to be said again: palestine is not a trend. caring about genocide is not a trend. there are still reports about humanitarian aid trucks intentionally blocked off from gaza, meaning so many fucking gazans, a big portion of them children, are just bleeding out with no help. it just came out recently that israelis disguised as women and medics infiltrated a west bank hospital, at which point they killed 3 palestinians (whom they claim were militants. right). these people are living day to day without even the most basic utilities. anyone who claims to have “activism fatigue” needs to question why they’re so severely lacking in the most basic forms of compassion. you don’t get to just grow bored of talking about palestine. please never stop calling attention to the genocide happening full force in front of us.

I think it's important to share the calmer days when I don't exactly tick off everything on my to-do lists as well so for the sake of transparency here goes:
I didn't study as planned today and instead went out for a meal with my coworkers!
I didn't finish the book I was reading because I was so tired, I fell asleep during the audiobook and only woke up again as it was finishing the ending credits.
I had to redo some marking at work because of a mistake.
Here's what I've learned from all that:
Days off are healthy and they are allowed!
If you fall asleep in the middle of something, your body is trying to tell you something - listen to it.
Your social life is just as important as anything you need to study! Don't neglect your relationships for the sake of words on a page.
Tomorrow, I'll work harder, and slowly catch up on everything going I planned to do today and that's okay!

First day back at work today, and I thought I'd show off some of my journals for this year^^!
Did so much at work, felt very productive - finished books, started new books, organised the classroom and the like!
Didn't exercise today, but I think with all the hugs I gave to 5-year-olds today, I must've done 50+ squats and a couple deadlifts or whatever.
Finished reading Winter by Ali Smith
Read to 25% of Court by Tracy Wolff (I am finishing this silly little paranormal romance series or it will finish me).
Made pasta for dinner (it was 👍)
Did almost 2 hours of writing ^^
Did some recreational journaling~
Flipped through some verb flashcards during my work breaks for a total time of almost 10 minutes :)

quick question,
I’m planning to come to Seoul this summer to learn Korean in an immersion school, and I booked my trip for the entire month of July thinking that the weather would be lovely since it was a summer month. I wasn’t aware of monsoon season, and now I’m quite anxious about how heavily the rain will affect my trip. Do you have any insights or advice about monsoon season? Should I be worried?
thank you for your time!
Hi! Great question! I think, for the most part, you should be okay - it doesn't exactly rain for the entire month, so you can still experience things like the Gyeongbuk Palace and N Seoul Tower.
That being said, when it does rain during monsoon season, it really comes down, so I think your packing might be affected. Bring some solid waterproof shoes, and either pack an umbrella or pick one up immediately when you get here.
Also, just because it's raining doesn't mean it's going to be jacket weather - the temperatures are still high, and it's ridiculously humid, so if you want a waterproof coat, go for like a thin parka instead of anything bulky.
I hope you have a great time in Korea! Hopefully the monsoons won't be too bad and you can enjoy a lot!!

Another day, another book finished! Here are some other things I finally got around to doing today :)
Finished reading Miss Kim Knows by Cho Nam-Joo
Did a 15-minute daily yoga workout
Cooked pancakes for breakfast and had leftover soup for dinner
Went to my very first Korean lesson! We practised some connective grammar such as (으)니까, 어서, (으)러 and I showed off my very, very small vocabulary lmao.
Cleaned my bathroom!
Did some journaling and a face mask at the same time (Aloe Vera please fix my skin 🪴)
Talked to some friends online :)
Tomorrow is my first day back after the holidays, and I'm excited to see the kids again even if I'm not too happy about the 6:30 wake up time ㅠㅠ 내일 봐요~♡

Happy New Year! One of my resolutions for the new year is to get back into posting regularly on here, so here I am! I also started making progress on some of my goals for this year, including:
Finished a book - Shakespeare: A Biography by Peter Ackroyd
Started a new book - Miss Kim Knows by Cho Nam Joo
Went out for a New Years Day walk!
Updated my journals (using my hoshi stickers well ♡)
Did some studying at a cafe - Korean reported speech (대요 & 래요).
Cooked for myself - 돈베고기 국밥 (pork broth soup and rice).
Did some evening yoga
Cleaned my bathroom
Did an hour of writing!
I'm happy that 2024 is starting in a productive way, and I know that I won't be able to do as much as I did today as the year carries on, but I'd like to carry a little bit of this positivity throughout the year ♡

I'm feeling very motivated to start posting daily again from January onwards, so I would really like to find other language learning friends to follow:
Here's a little about me:
I'm 22 and I live in SK
I'm studying Korean in my free time after work, and I have previously studied Latin too!
I'm a big reader (currently set to reach like 240 books finished by the end of the year!!)
I have a degree in English Literature
My favourite musical artists include NCT, Seventeen, SHINee, The Bee Gees, Sleeping At Last, and Rina Sawayama
My favourite authors include Elena Ferrante, Jane Austen, the Bronte Sisters, Sally Rooney, Rick Riordan, and Brandon Sanderson
My favourite movies include The Princess Bride, 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless, Emma (2020), and Along With The Gods
I'm hopefully going to aim to post every day about my studying and reading, and I'm starting in-person Korean Lessons in January, so I can hopefully share some tips from my teacher as I prepare for the TOPIK exam!~
Please rb to help me find langblrs to follow, I don't mind what language!
Happy New Year!
