when I was younger I didn’t understand why “may you live in interesting times” was considered a curse in ancient greece.
I get it now.

Hello! Your blog is wonderful. Just wondering, how long have you been learning the ancient greek language? And how difficult have you found it? I want to study Classics at uni so so so bad but have no prior experience with the language so just interested in how you have found it personally. xox
hi, thank you so much! I’ve been learning ancient greek since september. It’s a really challenging language but I absolutely adore it. I love crosswords and chess and those sorts of puzzle games and greek feels like that a lot of the time.
though it’s challenging, it’s even more rewarding, and I had no prior experience before taking the course this year. I say go for it - study classics if you’re so passionate about it! loving what you’re doing makes anything much less difficult.

I think that one of the most underrated novels is Le Sang noir by Louis Guilloux. Few people know it even exists, yet the ones who do say it is a masterpiece. Myself included.
unfortunately, I’m in the population who has never heard of it! thank you for the suggestion - I’m putting it on my reading list now.

Have you ever read a book that you loved so much that you're afraid of rereading it because it might not be as good as it is in your memories?

how are you doing? everything’s really overwhelming right now but I’m trying to just stay calm and wash my hands because there’s not a lot else to do really
i'm doing alright! i'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed but we all have to remember to take things day by day and not worry too much.
it's important to be concerned but it can be harmful to be overly worried about it! i'm trying to practice that myself. i hope you're well:)

What are you in that lets you study mythology in college? I’m about to graduate and it’s always been something that interest me, so I was just wondering?
i study classics, focusing on ancient greek. my notes in my recent post were regarding aeschylus’ prometheus bound, and there’s quite a lot of mythology to learn to contextualize it!
if you’re interested in greek/roman mythology, i strongly recommend studying classics, though the field isn’t just the stories, it’s the language, too.

hi! your pictures are amazing!! :( I’m in love. sorry if this may sounds random but I’m currently learning french and do you have any specific tips to learn this language? ( my pronunciation sucks) always sending love. hope you’re having a great day ( also I’m trying to create a studyblr this year)
hello! thank you so much. i got a few anons asking the same so i’ll just answer here.
french isn’t my native language, it’s my second. i started learning it around 5(?) years ago. what helps most for me is speaking with native speakers. i was an exchange student in the south of france during high school and that helped me build my vocabulary base (and confidence!) up.
i learned most of it in school, but often that’s not enough to be truly fluent - i did a lot outside of class, reading books, writing, and speaking with natives. i find that writing is very helpful, but that might be because i write a lot of poetry in english. writing poetry especially can help you really personalize your grasp of a language.
pronunciation is hard! i agree! i recommend listening to interviews in french and repeating words you’re unfamiliar with/have difficulty pronouncing. sometimes i find myself copying the speakers on the metro announcements, even.
i wish you good luck with your french and your studyblr :)
