one of the biggest things I can advocate for (in academia, but also just in life) is to build credibility with yourself. It’s easy to fall into the habit of thinking of yourself as someone who does things last minute or who struggles to start tasks. people will tell you that you just need to build different habits, but I know for me at least the idea of ‘habit’ is sort of abstract and dehumanizing. Credibility is more like ‘I’ve done this before, so I know I can do it, and more importantly I trust myself to do it’. you set an assignment goal for the day and you meet it, and then you feel stronger setting one the next day. You establish a relationship with yourself that’s built on confidence and trust. That in turn starts to erode the barrier of insecurity and perfectionism and makes it easier to start and finish tasks. reframing the narrative as a process of building credibility makes it easier to celebrate each step and recognize how strong your relationship with yourself can become

Something that schools don't teach you but is much needed: how to have a work/life balance that works for you.
As someone who works fulltime and does classes and attempts a social life and hobbies, this gets very hard and stressful. But here are some tips I have for helping:
Learn to say no and not feel guilty. Picking up that extra shift when you had plans? Politely decline. Your friend is begging you to take ANOTHER class when your plate is full so you can have one together? Just be honest and say you can't.
Prioritize your sleep and eating. You can't function well if you don't sleep and eat enough. These are not things you can just push aside and do when you get the time. These are basic things you need to survive. These are literally basic needs. Don't throw them to the side. Your body does its best to take care of you. Make sure you take care of it too.
Have boundaries and be firm with them. If you tell your manager you can only work x, y, and z, don't let them add a or b to it. Respectfully but firmly let them know that you can't take on those things and if they have you do a or b, your work overall is going to majorly decrease in quality. Schedule time for yourself. For studying. For going out. And treat those set aside times just like you would if they were work or school times or appointments. You are the most important part of your life.
Understand that some weeks are going to be absolute hell. You're not going to have enough time. You're going to be exhausted and cry and throw things and want to quit everything. You got this babe. Take breaks and remind yourself how amazing you are and treat yourself after.
Prioritize things and adopt better habits. Wash your dishes right after using them. Get a set bedtime. Get easy breakfast things. Take a walk.
Your friends will understand if you just need time alone. I promise. They love you and don't hate you because you're overwhelmed. I PROMISE. And if they don't, maybe they aren't really your friends.
Not everyone is a friend. Some people are acquaintances. Some people are a 5 minute smoke break at work for your sanity. Some people are drinking buddies. Some people are library study date friends. And that's ok! Not everyone has to be your bestie. And trying to put that much energy into that many people will drain you.

actually since im taking java again i will have two projects to deal with this semester but for java im actually preparing for it already; while on my intro to soft. engr. class we are genuinely Working on it since two weeks ago
so, for this semester, we have a class project of building a website for our institution's room reservation system. i will 100% document my journey on this here since we are formally starting the sprint #1 this week. special tag will probably be #undeuxhuit because im lazy (its literally the course code) and im trying to put the french duolingo streak in use. tech stack is quite fun with nextjs (god sent)

I'm back from hiatus! My finals are starting from Wednesday and on top of that, I have a coding test for an internship the next day. helpp😫
During the semester, I pretty much stop coding since I was always tired/demotivated. I'm revisiting those coding problems I've solved before and brushing up on my Java concepts. I'm not sure about getting selected but I'll just try to do my best!

Look how cute it's looking!
All the logic is done, so I just need to implement the interaction with the user. There are some aspects that might prove a bit difficult, but we'll see. It's due on Thursday, guys. I can do this!
(I think this entire part about rules and cute intros was probably unnecessary, but if I don't have any fun with it what's the point?)

pre-going back to college plan!
So, I'd been away for almost two semesters already due to financial struggles. The current semester is about to be over and this is me trying to find a way to kickstart the learning juices. Or in this case, grasp back the discipline I had from when I was studying because for the last few months, I've been part of the workforce, to come to help my family with living costs.
I can't believe I'm going to type this but goddamn I'm starting with Math, of all the topics I could possibly decide to learn. Now, there's a logical explanation to this. It's one of those subjects I take much longer to digest and the pacing my university has with Math is ...abysmal. It is not poor attention span friendly. So I'm confronting my demons starting tonight. [clutching the James Stewart book and calculus made easy ++ khan academy close to me]

At the end of the day, if it's eating you alive, if you can't take it anymore, you're allowed to take a BIG step back and tell yourself that you're a small speck on a small planet floating around in the universe and no problem is that deep, if that's what helps you. You are important, your feelings are important, your pain is important, but also you will recover from this and find a solution eventually. You're allowed to take a break from this pain, to put it into proportion, to calm yourself down now. It's gonna pass. It's ok. Put it aside.
