Sorry that I haven't been active in a while, medicinal issues that I have been dealing with for a bit now.
Anyway, I made this. This is the fusion of Steven and Oaks, also known as Stoaks.
Tumblr media
They're designed to be like a dog with a Lizard-like or snake-like tail (which is reference to Cerburus, a three headed dog sometimes shown as having a snake tail). This shows three things, how they bonded over not being human (if only partially in Steven's case, and even that's not there any longer), the fact that they are on the very edge of what Steven can fuse with (this can literally only happen because of how magic works in Collapsedverse, as they wouldn't normally be able to), and how much Steven and Oaks want to protect the other (they are literally a Gaurd dog).

"So, Ruby? What can you tell me about yourself?" Mrs. Maheswaren asked.
That was actually a pretty hard question for the Red Gem, mainly because she didn't choose to know herself all that well. She was always with Saphire as Garnet, their Alter Ego. She was usually focused on being a part of Garnet, so she couldn't have been focusing on anything else.
Ruby refocused, this time without a physical trigger.
"I honestly can't tell you much. I haven't been myself in a long while. Uh..." Ruby thought back for a second, and winced when she pulled up the memory "...nearly four thousand years, I think, that was the last time".
Mrs. Maheswaren just nodded, meaning that she had probably been told about how Gems age (or rather, how they don't) by Pearl or Connie.
"I see. So, Amethyst mentioned you were a component Gem to Garnet? Can I ask what that means? All Amethyst said was that she wasn't the right person to explain it" Connie's mother said.
It took Ruby a second to get what was being talked about, but then got it.
"Oh! Right, sorry, not used to it being phrased so technically. Um, so the physical form of a Gem, that being everything except for the Gemstone itself..." Ruby held up her left hand, showing the Gemstone set in her palm "...is made out of light. It allows us to interact with the world, but is expendable if an accident occurs or we get attacked. So long as the Gemstone itself isn't hurt, we'll be fine. Which is pretty great" Ruby said, before flapping her fands to realign herself.
Once refocused, Ruby continued.
"So, because we are mostly made of light, we can share that light with other Gems. Uh, I don't really know how to explain that-"
"So it's like distributed computing? Where you link a bunch of systems together so that they can be used as one unit?
Ruby and Priyanka turned in shock. The speaker had been Connie. She still had her legs pulled up against her torso, with her arms crossed on top of them, but her head was no longer pointed down, hidden by her arms. Plus, she spoke.
Ruby had to refocus, shaking herself back to her point.
"Um, yeah actually. The two Gems start working as if they were one Gem. Things that are similar or complimentary between the two are brought out more, and things that aee different or clashing are repressed"
Ruby paused, taking a deep breath. She didn't need to breathe, but the physical action helped keep her on task.
"We tend to think of it like how a relationship works. Where people can connect is where it's strongest points are, where they can't connect is where things can fall apart"
Mrs. Maheswaren nodded along.
"So, you and Saphire have been... Connected? For a long while?"
Ruby nodded.
"Yeah, the term we use is "fused", but yeah. We've been together for over five thousand seven hundred years".
Priyanka seemed to have understood the mechanism, but raised her eyebrow at Ruby's last sentence.
"Why is that?"
"Why is what?"
"Why would you stay fused for so long?"
That, that phrasing in particular, made Ruby's non-existent heart pound. She knew that Connie's mom didn't mean anything by it, but it was still hurt.
"Um, are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" Priyanka said, sounding worried.
Ruby began trying to calm herself down. It was harder for a Gem than for a human, but deep breaths still tended to work.
"Uh, yeah. I mean, I know you didn't mean anything by it, but yeah" Ruby refocused again, this time by flapping her hands, and then continued. "To answer your question, we stay together because we want to. Garnet is our way of showing who we are"
Priyanka nodded.
"Sorry for the insult, I didn't meant to hurt you." said Priyanka.
"It's okay".

Priyanka left the tea with them, having finished hers. She was tired, but trusted Connie with Ruby. The red Gem seemed nice and polite, if a bit easily distracted.
Besides, she's over five thousand years old, she is pretty much certainly a responsible person.

Ruby was not having a good day, actually, she was pretty certain she hadn't ever had a worse day. Even the day she nearly got shattered by Blue Diamond was also the day she first fused with Saphire. The only thing that came close was the day Rubicelle... left.
Thinking about it, that day might have been worse than this one.
Shaking her head to get that thought out, she looked to Connie.
"So... uh... Sorry that we had to meet?" Ruby said, before immediately regretting.
Who in the world apologized for having met someone? There are very few things that could have been more insulting to say.
"Uhg! Sorry! I'm not thinking right today."
Shaking her head once again in order to put her focus back on the task at hand. She then stuck her hand out to Connie.
"Um, I'm Ruby. Nice to meet you"
Connie eyed Ruby's hand, and then grabbed it. It was a bit of an awkward hand shake, mainly because Connie was rolled into a ball, her knees against her chest.
Connie mumbled something, but then began to seem scared, pressing her face into her knees.
Ruby panicked and went up next to her, giving her a hug. Connie didn't stop her, but didn't seem to be comforted by it. Not visibly.
Ruby stopped hugging her and just sat nearby.
Then Priyanka came back into the room, holding a tea kettle and some cups.

This is my main account. I had a lot of trouble writing Ruby today, so gave up and just wrote this. Hope this works for you!
For @peribytes, I hope you enjoy.
When Steven began acting strange, specifically around the full moon, Greg knew what was up. He knew it as a feeling in his gut, much as it was something that Greg had hoped his child would not have to deal with.
He thought about just giving Steven the pills, the dilute aconitine compound that Greg had learned a long time ago could weaken the wolf enough that the transformation could be resisted, and telling him that it was some form of home remedy. He decided against it though. It wasn't technically lying, but it felt dishonest nonetheless.
Steven had had to deal with a lot of dishonesty over the years, and Greg could tell how much it had hurt him. He needed to talk advice, but he didn't know who to talk to about it. Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst were all out, they'd just tell Steven at the first opportunity even if they decide that keeping the secret is for the best. They had simply been too hurt by Rose's secret keeping to even consider it anymore (Greg would still never understand what they were so mad about, people were entitled to their secrets).
Connie was also out, albeit for a slightly different reason. Her sense of justice and fairness is so high that she'd likely put Steven on speaker as soon as he mentioned trying to keep something from him.
Maybe... yeah, that could work. She was even on Earth right now for little homeschool.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh... my... that... is... hard..." said Flourite, after Greg had explained to her the situation, albeit while leaving out the exact nature of his secret.
"I just... I don't know what to do! I kept this from Rose, the love of my life. I don't know how to tell him this."
"Com-mun-i-ca-tion... is... key... to... any... re-la-tion-ship...... Stev-en... loves... you..., and... won't... hate... you... be-cause... of... a... se-cret..., but... he... may... re-sent... you... if... you... don't... tell... him" said Flourite.
"But how do I do that!? I've kept it from him his whole life! How do I tell him now!?" Said Greg, barely short of yell.
"Do... it... on... his... terms..." answered Flourite.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What is it Dad?" His son asked him, innocence in his eyes. It was as if he was trying to make this as hard form him as possible.
"I..." Greg tried to start, before stopping and wincing "kiddo, you know I've always loved you, right?"
Steven scoffed "What Kind of question is that? Of course I know!" His only child snickered comically "is that all this is about?" He asked.
Greg shook his head somberly.
"No Stevo... I just wanted you to know that I wasn't trying to hurt you when I did this"
A look of shock spread across Steven's face, wide eyes stared at the serious look on his father's face, as if looking for some hint that it might be a sick joke, and found only sadness.
"You're... you're keeping a secret from me?"
Greg nodded.
"Not specifically from you, I kept this from pretty much everyone, even Rose. It's just, hurting me to not tell you this any longer" Greg readied himself for what he needs to say next "do you... do you want to know it?"
That, giving him a choice, is what Greg and Flourite had worked out. It gave Steven freedom, and made it feel like he wasn't being forced into something he didn't want to do.
"Dad... You can tell me. It's okay" Steven said, the compassion in his voice just barely masked the anger that tried to escape, not that Greg couldn't sense that.
Greg nodded sedately and closed his eyes, and with a deep breath, reached down for the wolf inside him, and asked him to come to the surface.
Steven looked confused for a second, before noticing the fur poking out of his father's skin. He instinctively covered his mouth to mask his shock as his dad grew larger and more beastial in front of him. Claws grew on his hands, his face stretched out into a snout, and his ears moved to the top of his head.
Greg opened his eyes, and looked at his bewildered child.
"Surprised?" He asked, his voice deep and nearly monstrous sounding.
Steven barely managed a silent affirmation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time Greg had turned back into his old self, as well as explained everything, night had fallen.
"So, those pills stop you from turning during the full moon?" Steven asked.
"Yep. Not sure if they'll work on you, sense they are essentially just a very dilute poison, and your Gem might not like that. Couldn't hurt to try"
Steven went wide eyed, this time in surprise.
"You... you know about that?" He asked.
"Uh-huh. It's why I'm telling you this now. I had hoped it wouldn't effect you sense you're part Gem, and werewolfism only effects humans" Greg said, before noticing the question on his son's lips "What? Did you really think you could keep running off during the full moon and have no one notice?" He said with a smile.
"Heh, I guess I kind of was" Steven said with a laugh.
"We care about you kid, you're not getting away that easily"
Yeah, I need to take a break from collapsedverse for a bit. Really from tumblr in general. It's become a source of stress for me, and I can't afford that mentally right now.
So, on hiatus until further notice, thought I'd let you know.
Stay safe!
Rubicelle waited outside the temple door for the rest of her friends. She'd given them a call, and had made it low priority. In other words, she was giving them all the time they needed to prepare, mentally and physically.
She scratched a little at her gloved wrists. The originally white gloves had turned a peach color since the Diamond Attack a little over a thousand years ago. She only got hit with the last tenth if a second or so, but that was enough. She'd been fighting it, but she knew she was losing.
Soon, Pearl came through the door, followed by Garnet, and then Amethyst. Pearl and Garnet looked confused, but Amethyst seemed on the verge of tears.
"What is it, Cel?" Pearl asked, using the nickname that she had given her after rescuing her from the Garden.
"I... this hurts to say. Um..." she tried to begin, but having to fight her own programming with every word.
"You're losing, aren't you?" Said Amethyst, nearly in a sob. So she had guessed it then.
Pearl and Garnet went wide eyed, Garnet even took off her sunglasses. They stared at Amethyst, and then back at Rubicelle.
Rubicelle, much to their horror, nodded.
"What do we do?" Asked Garnet with panic in her voice.
Rubicelle looked away briefly, not wanting to face her friends, but then she turned back to them.
"I'm on my last legs here guys, have been for a while. Don't know how long I'll last now, but it won't be long"
"What do we do?!" Interrupted Pearl, before her hands flew over her mouth in shock.
"Pearlie, I don't like being interupted. But to answer your question, not that I wasn't already, we prepare. I've already readied Ame to lead the team in my absence. The only thing left is to tell you the last thing you need to know-"
"And that is?" Garnet said, cutting off Rubicelle.
The Orange Gem glared, and took a deep breath.
"As I was saying, before being interupted... again, the last thing you need to know before I ask you guys to bubble me-"
"Bubble you! Why would we bubble you?!" Screamed Pearl in tears.
"Because I don't want to end up LIKE THE THE REST OF MY FRIENDS!" Rubicelle screamed back in anger, the red marks along her form moved threateningly as her eyes gained three more pupils. "I don't want to hurt you" she whispered in fear.
Rubicelle took a deep breathe, and counted to ten. Her eye returned to her normal pie-cut pupils.
"As I was saying, the last thing you need to know before I ask you to bubble me is that Bismuth- ARGH"
Rubicelle had been cut off again, but this time by her own screams. She collapsed to the floor, writhing in pain as the red marks overtook her form. Her limbs thickened, her hands and feet twisted into paws. Her rhombus shaped pig tails twisted into rabbit-like ears, while head was drawn into a muzzle. Her eyes became concentric rings as her screams were turned into beastial roars.
Her form had stretched into the size of a small bus as she roared at the Crystal Gems and began her four footed charge, before a violet whip went around her neck and forced her onto her hind legs.
While Pearl and Garnet had been gawking in horror at their worst nightmare made reality, Amethyst had been getting into position.
"Garnet, topple her! Pearl, get her Gem!" Amethyst yelled.
Garnet and Pearl snapped out of their shock, and with a nod they began a charge of their own. Garnet moved to the rabbits side and made a jumping punch attack, knocking the newly made corrupted gem over onto the sand. Pearl took the opportunity to jump onto the rabbits chest and expertly jammed her spear right above the orange, rhombus shaped gemstone.
With it's power flow suddenly separated, the Corrupted Crystal Gem poofed. Amethyst ran forward and grabbed the Orange gem, now covered in reddish spots, and bubbled it. A single tap sent the purple orb back to the temple.
Pearl was shaking, tears streaming down her face. Ruby and Saphire were sprawled out on the sand after it had finally hit them what had just happened. Amethyst, cried silently, and fell into a kneel.
Rubicelle, was gone.
(Also, yes, Rubicelle did try and tell them where Bismuth was with her last words).
Connie jumped at the ringing of the doorbell. Priyanka was saddened, whatever her daughter had seen, it had really shaken her. Worse, Priyanka didn't even know what to do for her daughter for this, not so soon. If the problem persists without getting better, Priyanka was going to get her daughter into therapy, but doing that too early could make things worse.
It had only been a day or two, and Connie had been getting better, if slowly. She probably wouldn't need therapy, just support, but Priyanka was pained watching her daughter struggle through this.
Priyanka got up from her chair, and walked to the door. It was early, and the sun was rising, so it is a little odd that someone was ringing their bell.
Opening the door, Priyanka was at first confused. She didn't see anyone at eye level with herself. When she looked down, thinking it might have been a package of some form, she got her answer.
A familiar short, red figure filled her vision. Ruby, if Priyanka remembered correctly. The Gem didn't seem to register that she was there.
"Hello?" Priyanka asked eloquently.
The figure at her door turned upward in slight surprise, then seemed to blink it out of their eyes.
"Um, Hi Mrs. Maheswaren! I... uh, sorry. It's been a bit of a day. How is... How is Connie doing" The red Gem stuttered as she spoke, seemingly because of stress rather than a speech impediment.
"Oh, she's getting better. Would you like to come inside?" Priyanka said, noticing now that the Gem had a different outfit on then when she last saw her.
"That would be nice, thank you..." The Gem commented sorrowfully, before trailing off when she saw Connie.
Priyanka went to the kitchen to make some tea. She wasn't sure if it would help the Gems nerves, but it sure would help hers.
Instead of Garnet forming, the Gemstones morphed into the shapes of two different figures. They were both chromatic in the way only gems were, with each part of them simply a shade of one color.
One of the figures was red, and did look a bit like Garnet, if only for the hair. She was short, even more so than Amethyst, and already had her hands in the odd, rhombus shaped salute.
The second figure was blue, with rather long, pale blue hair that covered her eyes. This one wore a dress that looked like it would be more at home on a princess. Her hands were folded in front of her in a regal pose as she and her partner descended to the ground.
As they landed on the ground, the red figure turned to the blue one.
"My Saphire, as my sworn duty and sole purpose I will protect you with my life" they said. It nearly seamed practiced.
"I know, my Ruby. Now, let's stand over there, I predict we're about to be introduced" said the blue figure, likely Saphire, in an ethereal tone.
Priyanka shot a look toward Amethyst, one that had been copied from her husband. It was a look designed to silently convey a single message. Explain, now.
Amethyst looked at her, sullen.
"Priyanka, Connie. Let me introduce Ruby and Saphire, Garnet's component Gems"
Priyanka kept up her look.
"Component gems..."
"Later"
Amethyst walked over to the door.
"You two should head home and get some rest. I'll get this mess worked out as soon as possible" Amethyst said.
Connie had gotten off the couch on her own, and had begun walking to the door. Priyanka followed behind her and comforted her as they left.
Amethyst turned toward the three Gems that had lost their memories.
It was going to be a long few days.
"Rose Quartz?" Asked Priyanka, trying to be calm for the sake of her daughter.
Amethyst took a second to answer, not entirely removing her hand from her face as if chastising herself for something.
"The Gemstone that powered the Android thing we faced. It was a Rose Quartz" said Amethyst, her embarrassment loosely disguised as frustration.
"And that's important because..."
Finally removing her hand from her eyes, but still not quite looking Priyanka in the face, Amethyst answered.
"Rose Quartz's have the ability to scatter the memories of their opponents. It's called rejuvenation, it took me a bit to recognize sense the last time we faced a Rose Quartz, I was on the receiving end of it" Amethyst stated, trying not to sound like she wanted to hit herself.
Pearl was just standing placidly, her arms folded over her torso in an odd, rhombus shaped pattern. It looked odd, stiff really, like a soldiers salute. It certainly didn't suit the Pearl Priyanka knew at all.
"So, why is she acting like this?"
Amethyst stiffened.
"Um, ask her when she gets back to her old self? I am not the right person to explain that"
Suddenly, Garnet's two Gems began glowing and rising into the air.
As Amethyst stared on, a look of worry shone her face.
Hey if you're an SU blog of some kind, especially if you're making an AU, do me a favor and like or reblog so I can follow! I follow quite a few already but I know there's more. Alternatively, you can just recommend some.
I'm more partial to AUs that change aspects of the story or plot rather than the world itself but anything is fair game.
Priyanka burst through the door to see her daughter shaking under a blanket while sitting on the couch. Her eyes were wide and Priyanka didn't think she noticed her walking in the door.
"Connie!!" Priyanka said as she ran over. She wanted to say more, but as she pulled her daughter into a hug she decided that she didn't need to.
It took several minutes before either of them were willing to let go, at which point Priyanka sat by her daughter on the couch and held her in her arms.
Turning to Amethyst, Priyanka only had one question.
"What happened?" She asked, a stern note to her voice.
Amethust began the rather long explanation, if only from her perspective sense she didn't yet have Connie's. So from receiving a text from Pearl's student just as they got back from a mission, to arriving and having their buts kicked, then reforming and comforting Connie, and finally calling Priyanka.
"So, they're going to be fine?" Priyanka asked, refering to the three gemstones resting on the table.
"Yeah, once the reform they should be okay" said Amethyst, even picking up Pearl's Gem to emphasize her point.
Suddenly, Pearl's Gem began glowing in Amethyst's hand, and began to fly into the air.
Amethyst raised an eyebrow questioningly
"Well that's odd, usually it takes weeks for Pearl to-"
A holographic shell appeared around the white ovular Gemstone, and a voice emitted from it's surface.
"Please identify yourself" it said.
Amethyst looked shocked, but answered calmly.
"Amethyst, facet-5, cut-8xj"
"Greetings, Amethyst. Please state prefered customization options"
"Default settings" Said Amethyst, obviously confused but sounding nearly relaxed.
"Default settings selected, please stand by"
The shell surrounding Pearl's gemstone descended, and then a figure of white light expanded out. At first it looked like a doll, with odd edges at all of the joints. Then details shot out, and the white light vanished, revealing the familiar shape of Pearl.
When Pearl opened her eyes, Priyanka knew something was wrong. Pearl's eyes were observant, intelligent, and sharp. These eyes looked like the came off of a baby.
Looking at Amethyst, Pearl bowed.
"How do you do, My Amethyst." It was simple, to the point, and complete unlike the Pearl Priyanka knew and trusted.
Priyanka turned to Amethyst.
"Is this Normal?"
"No. I haven't seen anything like this before-" suddenly, Amethyst slammed her palm into her forehead, earning a yelp from Connie. The first sound she had made in a long while.
"Right, Rose Quartz" Amethyst said, as if that explained everything.
