“Worn Eyepatch” - Armor DF 3

Lack of depth perception is all the rage these days!

“Walking Cane” - Wpn AT 3

This cane is good for walking AND whacking.

* Janus was the fourth human to fall into the underground.

* He did not climb the mountain for a very happy reason. Has a deep hatred for humanity.

* His eye and part of his face are missing due to an accident in his youth.

* Uses a walking cane due to a weak knee.

* His play style is usually pacifist. Due to his sharp tongue he can talk his way out of any situation. He’s also not a great fighter anyways.

* When he woke up alive in the underground to say he was confused was an understatement.

* Toriel finds him still laying on the bed of flowers and is quick to check him over for injuries.

* Janus is wary but he doesn’t let it show, instead putting on his winning smile persona.

* While he appreciates the kindness, Janus hates how coddling she is.

* He hates being perceived as weak, due to bullying in his past.

* He doesn’t end up staying with Toriel for long, sneaking out the Ruins door during the night.

* His trip through Snowdin is a very long and painful one.

* Walking through snow with a cane and a bad knee is absolute torture, not to mention all the fights on the way.

* The amount he had to fake laugh at ice puns was insane.

* He’s about to collapse by the time he makes it to the town’s inn.

* The innkeeper lets him rest free of charge.

* Waterfall is a heaven send compared to the horrible cold he just endured.

* The tranquility of the area gives him time to think.

* What was he even doing? He came to the mountain to end his pain but here he was, continuing.

* Why?

* ... He settled on spite as the answer.

* It’s then that he’s interrupted from his thoughts, as the realization that he’s being watched strikes.

* His eye suddenly catches another, his cane being held in front of himself defensively.

* The one eyed stranger drops from above, wielding a large hammer and a smile.

* He’s staring down Gerson, the Hammer of Justice, head of the royal guard.

* “Wahaha! Wow, look at you! Between the two of us we could have a whole 20/20 vision!”

* Their battle is interesting to say the least.

* Gerson is a very worthy adversary, but he’s more interested in talking than winning.

* Janus is giving no information away, dodging the questions and the swings of the hammer.

* It’s when Janus is knocked onto the floor that Gerson looks down at him curiously.

* Janus prepares for his end to come right then.

* But it doesn’t.

* “Yer holdin’ your cane all wrong by the way,”.

* “I’m what?”

* Their battle pauses for a moment as Gerson adjusts Janus’s hands on the cane for a stronger grip.

* Janus decides to push his luck.

* “Aren’t you supposed to be killing me?”

* “Yeah, but we don’t always do what we’re supposed to hm?”

* The two talk for a while and Janus learns a few things about the head of the royal guard.

* He doesn’t agree with the king’s plan to leave the underground.

* He also is curious about Janus’s strength.

* That gives Janus a moment of pause.

* This great monster thought HE was strong? When all his life he’d been reminded over and over how weak he was.

* Janus agrees to shelter with Gerson on the condition that he’d teach Janus how to fight.

* This condition is accepted easily.

* Gerson laughs, but not in the mean spirited way Janus was used to hearing. It was jovial, in a way that made him feel accepted.

* Gerson believed in his capabilities without question.

* Janus smiled. Maybe spite wasn’t the only reason he was still around after all.
