@jamkillah and I went to see Olivia Newton-John at Casinorama twice. One of those times she sang Dancin’ from Xanadu. She had never performed it live before so we witnessed the first live version of it anywhere. It’s the one where the rock band mashes up with the 40s big band. At the end Jamillah yelled “You’re AWESOME!” ONJ paused and said “I hope that was a compliment.” Janillah yelled “WHOOO” and Olivia smiled. I think Xanadu is an underrated musical. First of all, the album is the SHIT! ELO and ONJ together? Are you kidding me? An orgasmic pop mixture. And then the movie is just Olivia Newton-John roller skating around and feeling sorry for artistic men. It’s a movie designed especially for me. Not to mention Gene Kelly’s farewell performance. And if you think his earlier films are better I suggest you watch Marjorie Morningstar. My ex-girlfriend and I used to sing “Out Here On My Own” as a duet in front of my entire high school. I always related to Bruno, the grumpy piano player, there on the right. Fame was one of my favourite shows as a child. When they re-released the film I asked my mother to take me. I think we were both a bit jarred by the difference in tone. The heart breaking story of Irene Cara’s character really got to me. All four songs she sings in this film are an inspiration and a classic. I wish I could have gone to this school. Three more Hello fresh meals I made. Chicken Tetrazzini, Salisbury steak meatballs and pork chops. We didn’t choose these meals. We forgot to choose new ones so they just sent us these.
