Bobby probably waited right by the stage, with the audience full of people, on the verge of tears, repeating "they'll be here. They have to be." Knowing they would NEVER stand him up on the biggest night of their lives, with Rose comforting him, and then police officers have to go up and tell this 17 year old kid that his best friends, his family- is dead. He probably felt his blood run cold, felt his throat close up, Rose looked at the boy who just lost his family just to flirt with her. Bobby starts muttering things about it being his fault. That he should've stopped them, that he should've suggested they do something else, that he should've died with them. The cops bring him in for questioning, knowing it's strange that one member of the band made it out alive because he chose that one time to stay behind. Bobby almost wants to say he did it. That he killed them. Because he believes it. He didn't stop them from going, who says he couldn't have saved them if he had simply gone with them, too. He puts all the blame on himself, then once they let Bobby go and find out he did nothing, Bobbys immediate thought was to go to the studio. The boys would probably be there, he'd have to tell them about the crazy time he just had, they'd comfort him. He runs to the studio, feeling the need for comfort. Halfway there he knows they won't be there. But he has to believe, he needs to believe more than anything that they're there. So as soon as he set a foot in the dark garage, he collaped on the ground. He felt hollow, empty. He just lost his family. He doesn't even realize he's full on sobbing until one of his neighbors come out to check on him. He can't even form words. Luke, the one he let stay in his garage. The one he got to see almost every day for the last few months, who he grew close to. The one who wrote incredible songs and sang better than anyone else he'd ever met. Alex. His friend who spent several nights at his house, trying to think about anything other than his shitty family. The one who was sarcastic as hell. The one who got anxious every time before a show who Bobby comforted. The one who was too modest and too kind. Reggie. The dork who almost died because he tried to fix his amp in the rain. The one who loved pizza and dogs, the friendly social butterfly of the group. The one who was oblivious to most things but made up for it with all his kind words. They died. He lost them. His best friends. His family. His neighbor brings him inside of bobby's house, his family grows worried seeing him so upset. He can't even look at them. He just feels... Empty.
Tv tropes can be fucking hilarious sometimes but the jatp page calling Alex the ‘most laidback member of the group’ is the funniest thing thing I’ve ever read
Y’ALL NOW OR NEVER WAS ON THE BAND’S SET LIST FOR THEIR ORPHEUM SHOW WHEN THEY PLAYED WITH JULIE I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS
Edit: ok I just noticed this pic is even worse quality than I thought but the quality is better if you click on it. I’ll try to get a better one and then I’ll edit that one in later but I’m sorry it’s so blurry. Luke’s handwriting combined with a terrible picture makes it really illegible
If you look closely you can see it (the “ever” in “never” is the clearest part) but I can’t believe that on the night they thought they were either going to be destroyed or cross over, they played the song they never got a chance to play at the show they never got to do. Like. Wow. Just.
