First Love
(Azul belongs to @azulsartdump and Marsella is @faehistorian)
"Nation, you ready for finals?" The redhead asked to her friend across from the table where they were all eating breakfast at. The question broke the lantern shark out of their daze as they were fiddling with a small velvet bag attached to a cord.
"Oh, yeah. I have my lucky charm after all," Carnation smiled with a glance to the bag they tie around their neck.
"A lucky charm? Can I see it?" The fae beside the merfolk leaned over out of curiosity earning her a kick under the table from the knight.
"I don't mind." They laughed slightly at Vectra's protective nature as they untied the holder from their neck. Opening the black baggy and pulled out a small conch like shell that's color was a similar shade of pink to the first year's hair.
"How cute!" Marsella cooed as Carnation delicately showed the table the idem, "is there a story behind it?"
"Yea, actually." The shark placed the shell back in the velvet bag and ties it back around their neck. "The first person I think I ever loved gave it to me." They looked up to see the eager eyes of Azul and Marsella begging them to continue.
"It was a bit after I was abandoned and I was looking for a way to make money. No one would really hire a thirteen year old, but I would occasionally find a place that would pay me under the table in return for clean. It was around then that I saw some big jerk bullying some kids on the street. Honestly I acted before I could think to help out. And by help, I tried to tackle the guy, fail, got thrown off, yelled at the guy, I think scared him off, and then went to check on those he was being mean to." The shark paused to take a drink of their juice.
"There were three and I think they were all related, they were all hurt so I took them all back to the apartment that I was still barely managing to live in to bandage them all up. I think they were a couple years younger than me but it's hard to tell when it comes to merfolk. They were all very polite and scared from everything that had happened. But honestly I loved having people back in my house, it had felt so lonely since my mom had left. The three of them were the first people I ever had there even before she left because she never liked having people over. They were also the first people I thought and care about since she left other than myself. Those three lives meant so much to me, but sadly, as much as I wanted to, I couldn't let them stay with me. I was barely able to survive by myself, and adding three more people to feed and shelter..."
"They understood my plight and they left once they were all healed and I thought I would never see them again. A couple week later however that jerk found me, upset about interrupting him and how I would pay. I wasn't expecting one of the three boys to show up out of nowhere to help save me. After that bully was taken away, the boy gave me this shell as a 'thanks from last time' even though he had just saved me. He looked healthier compared to when I had last seen him, cleaner as well. I like to think him and his brothers are living better lives now. I doubt any of them really remember me. Time and the mind are fickle things, but I could never forget the warmth I felt."
"I call this my lucky charm because I had it with me when everything good happened to me. Getting this scholarship, getting the transformation potion, meeting you guys. I owe everything lucky to me to this shell and thus that boy. I truly hope they are all happy now, just like I get to be." Carnation gently caressed the make shift necklace that held the charm, smiling fondly causing the four at the table to gush in their own ways. Shortly after the first period bell rung and the group left to go to their classes. None noticed, or at least no one voiced that they noticed a small group sitting nearby or that three of them had over heard the lantern shark's story.

Birthday Gift
(Strand triplets are @azulsartdump)
"Torben!" Carnation chippered as they excitedly made their way towards the last triplet they saw for the day. "You were the last one I needed to find. Happy Birthday," they beamed up at the eel with a slight glow to their cheeks. The shark had planned to hug him like they had with his brothers, but a sudden sheepishness over came them standing before him.
Torben was admittedly happy they found him too. Earlier in the day the three of them were talking about what they all hot when Donar and Perun started talking about their gifts they got from their pink haired classmate. A very nice fountain pen for the oldest, some nice perfume that smelt like flowers for the second oldest, and a box of homemade cookies for each. The youngest didn't want to admit to the slight curl of jealousy in his stomach, so learning they didn't forget his gift was very relieving.
"You didn't need to get me anything."
"I know, and honestly I had a hard time figuring out what to get you," Carnation paused rubbing their cheek in embarrassment. "I wanted to get you something good so I ask Lilia-senpai and mo- I mean Azul to help and went with something similar to what they said. So could you follow me, it wasn't something I was able to put in my school bag?"
He tilted his head, more curious now about the gift, so he nodded. Smiling even brighter the lantern shark took his hand in theirs and began marching towards their dorm room. Once at the door to their room they let go of his hand and held up a finger signaling him to wait. The electric eel nodded and they went to grab the gifts. After some rummaging they emerged from their dorm with two boxes of different sizes.
"Here's the first, a box of sweets that Vectra helped me make," Carnation explained as they handed him the smaller, but thicker of the two boxes. "The second one I won't explain until you open."
"Okay," Torben set down the first box to undo the ribbon on the thinner, longer box. Lifting the lid of the simple box revealed a... sword? He took the weapon out of the box and noticed that it wasn't sharp, in fact it wasn't even made out of metal.
"It's a practice sword. I know you were talking about becoming a knight and so this was sort of what was recommended to get you. Azul and Lilia probably meant a real sword, but I felt like this would be safer when you practice. I went to a place nearby that Azul recommended thay made really god practice weapons-" they rambled, thankful that the hallway was lite and that they didn't blush like a normal person.
"Thank you," he voice was soft but it was enough to cut them off to smile up at him again.
"I'm just glad you like it." It was Torben's time to feel grateful that he wears his hair in front of his face.

Dance Class
(Azul, Torben and Onyx all belong to @azulsartdump)
"Alright class, today we will be learning dancing," Azul exclaimed while clasping her hands. As soon as she finished Torben's hand shot up with a question.
"Miss Azul, you said the other day dancing with the fae is dangerous."
"Ah yes, you remembered," Lilia smiled as he floated around the classroom, "That rule is for two things mostly. They are, intruding on a dance you were not invited to and it's more dangerous to human than you merfolk."
"Merfolk like you two and fae like us are similar, so certain things humans should not do, you two are more safe to do. Such as dancing when invited to do so as well as eating food."
The two first years nodded as their seniors explained to them how some rules might apply differently to them. After the brief explanation there was a knock on the door.
"Ah our guest teacher is here to help with teaching dance today," the bat fae chippered, floating over to open the door. In walked someone very familiar to the shark, they smiled widely at the tall figure of Onyx.
"Uncle Nyx," Carnation exclaimed before they had thought causing the demon to look over to them momentarily shocked. The shark quickly covered their face as it began to glow, they hadn't intended to say something like that directly to him. They were always so excited to see their new family and ever since they accidentally called the Marquis 'grandpa' they had been trying to be careful with how they refer to their family.
"Hey kiddo," the black haired man absolutely beamed at the merfolk's acknowledgement of him. "Azul asked me to come help out with dance class about once a month while you both are in this course." Onyx gestured for both to stand and come over to a cleared area in the classroom. He circled around the two before pausing beside Carnation.
"Flosculus, do you mind following this time?"
"Oh, not at all, I learned a little bit of dancing for the masquerade the school had, so I promise I won't step on your feet," they said with determination earning them a head pat. Then the much taller male turned to the eel and began circling him again. Green eyes appraising Torben for longer than the first year liked, especially since he kept shirnking away from the alumni's gaze.
"Today you will be watching us dance," the demon explained, "Dancing isn't just about music, it's also about heart and confidence, hopefully next time you will be able to practice with our flos." With that he turned from Torben before bowing and offering his hand to the lantern shark. The pink haired student takes his hand with a bright smile.
"I don't think I could put my hand on your shoulder comfortably," they laugh at themself.
"That's fine, when following someone that is much taller then you just put your hand on their upper arm. It may feel a little silly at first, but it will still work the same. You could also wear heeled shoes, but I know you don't like heels." With a few tweaks to their positioning the two began to dance.
"Eyes up here. Remember the leader will show you the way."
"Sorry, I got nervous I would step on your feet."
"Didn't you promise you wouldn't," Onyx quirked an eyebrow playfully which made both of them laugh. The two continued to dance simple steps for a bit before the demon decided that the song had ended.
"You did wonderful for a simple waltz. Most balls you will go to will mainly be waltzing, but we can work up the speed of the steps as well as to other types of ballroom dance."
"Um, Uncle Nyx, could we learn swing dancing as well? I've seen it in some of the movies we've watched and it looks like a lot of fun," Carnation asked timidly not much. Instead the black haired man picked the first year up in a hug and spun around with them excitedly.
"Is our Flosculus interested in dancing? I'd love to teach you any type of dance you'd like," he smiled widely as he held them. After more talking about dance and pointers to both despite Torben having to sit out for the day, class was dismissed. Once the two first years Azul turned to her brother with a sigh.
"Nyx, if you wanted to dance with Carnation so much you could have asked them instead of bullying poor Torben."
"I think Sir Bloodworth said those things for a reason other than what you are thinking. Torben is a bit of a shy boy," Lilia explained, long since standing on the ground.
"That boy needs to strengthen his heart, I hope a little challenge will help him."

Valley of Thorns Classes
(Azul and Torben are @azulsartdump)
The final bell of the day rung, well for some anyways. Since adopting Carnation, Azul had decided it was important for them to start learning the rules and etiquette of Valley of Thorns. Today after school was the first day and the dragonfly faery mentioned that they wouldn't be the only one in the class which made the merfolk feel slightly more at ease.
"We'll be using an actual classroom for this class. It classroom 3-C, don't be late." Azul's words echoed in the shark's mind, only to be snapped out of it when they bump into someone. Carnation was able to catch themself before falling then looked over to make sure who they ran into wasn't hurt.
"Are you okay?" They turned to see Torben, the easiest of the Strand brothers to tell apart because of his bangs. He didn't appear to be hurt and he wasn't knocked over which they were grateful for. "Sorry for running into you," Carnation rubbed the back of their neck, ears glowing slightly.
"It's okay, I'm fine," the eel stuttered slightly.
"Are you also taking the Valley of Thorns class as well?" The lantern shark gestured up to a classroom sign not too far down the hallway with 3-C written on it. The blue haired boy brightens and nods causing them to smile back at him. Excitedly the two walk to the classroom together.
"You both made it in time for class," Lilia greeted them both as they took their seats. The two fae stood at the front of the classroom as the two merfolk sat in the front row.
"Both of you are going to be going to the Valley of Thorns often, for different reasons, but it is important to know the etiquette and rules there, so Lilia and I decided to teach you both this class," Azul explained.
"We will be teaching you proper manners, how to dance, and generally how to interact with the fae. Of course Torben your teaching will go farther with training and possible knight training if that is what you wish to do," the bat fae continued.
"Knight training, that sounds kinda cool," Carnation said softly, hoping to not interrupt.
"Are you interested in becoming a knight?" The dragonfly faery questioned the shark who squeaked.
"Oh, honestly, a head on warrior I don't think I'm cut out for," they sheepishly explain before tilting their head slightly and saying in a joking tone, "a spy however." The merfolk gave a toothy grin as their adoptive mother began to laugh.
"A knight," the electric eel contemplated under his breath, looking down as fiddles with the cuff of his jacket.
"Anyways," Azul clapped her hands, "back to class. Carnation you will be learning additional things in case you wish to join any high society events. Noble society is different than normal society, especially when it comes to the fae. You'll be learning them now so we don't need to crash course you a week or so before the event, okay."
The lantern shark nodded before pulling out a blank notebook. They were excited to learn and hoped to make their new family proud of them by learning everything as best they can.

First Snow
(The Strand triplets belong to @azulsartdump)
(I'm sorry this got long)
"Wow~" Carnation stared in wonder out at the white covered campus. Snow never really fell onto the ocean so this was their first experience with it. They rushed out into the cold in their new winter coat only to flop into a pile of untouched snow. Bell like laughter could be heard for the shark as they rolled around uncaring of the temperature or those looking at them.
"First time Cuttlefish?" Floyd asked down to the giddy first year. "Can't really say anything, I was the same." The eel chuckled as they nodded to his question before flopping down next to them.
"What are you two doing?" The voice of the youngest of the Strand triplets hesitantly called out. Torben was quickly answered by his own brother.
"Torben! It snowed! Come on let's play! Donar, come on, you too!" Perun chippered as he pulled his coat on to go play in the snow. Well mostly the middle brother wanted to take cute pictures in the snow for his Magicam, but taking pictures in general for the day sounded fun.
"Nation, Floyd, smile." He said to the two in the snow so he could take pictures of them both. The electric eel went back to try to convince his brothers out with him, Torben got dragged out, but Donar was coming out.
After a bit the youngest started having fun and started making some snowmen and Perun started making a snow fort. Floyd didn't want to bug the two already making things, so the oldest was caught in his sights. The calmest triplet was outside but not paying in the snow and the older eel decided to change that.
Quickly packing a snow ball, Floyd hit Donar square in the face with a smug look. The triplet blinked the snow out of his eyes before staring at his senior.
"Mr. Floyd, what's the meaning of th-" he was cut off by getting hit in the face again. The moray laughed at the angered expression of the electric eel and threw another snowball. However instead of Donar the projectile hit Carnation in the side of their head as the sat up from laying in the snow.
"Fuck," the shark yelped and grabbed their ear. The taller didn't try to apologize and kept laughing causing the shark to look at the oldest triplet. "Team up?" Donar nodded and the pink haired student swiftly made some distance away from the second year.
The once level-headed triplet made a break for Perun's currently abandon fort to begin making a snowball stock pile. The other two triplets were busy taking pictures of Torben's snowmen that looked like everyone currently outside. Carnation stayed out of the fort, but managed to dodged all snowballs sent their way.
"Oh my, what a slippery creature you are after Floyd," Jade cooed to his twin after he watched briefly, "Shall we team up as well?" The sound of the vice president's voice made the lantern shark's blood boil, there were only two people they were mad at for what had happened earlier in the year and he was one of them. Donar saw the look in Carnation's eyes and he knew, the shorter of the twins was the main target now.
The field was split, Jade and Donar were in separate forts with Carnation and Floyd standing in the open. Perun snapped photos of the stand off as the two discussed rules of the fight that was going to start. The rules were simple; no magic of any kind, no making the snow into ice, no hitting the snowmen because both sides thought they were cute, and you're out if you get hit in the face. Originally the two triplets weren't in the fight, but were quickly dragged in after each was hit.
---
"Torben, I'm trusting you with an important mission," Carnation explained with a serious look on their face causing him to gulp and nod. "I need you to distract Floyd."
"Going for Jade?" Donar spoke, his face mirroring the shark's and they nodded. "Alright, Torben, I know you are the only one of us crazy enough to actually try to go over after Floyd. Perun, you and I are gonna act as targets. Torben you have your job. Carnation, godspeed." The huddle split up and the plan went into affect.
The triplets ran around distracting the more violitile of the twins, the youngest got some good hits on the twin as well. However, Perun got hit in the face by Jade who was still in cover. The electric eel went to the side, he was planning on being dramatic, but he saw Carnation was almost at their destination and decided live streaming what was abut to happen instead. He quickly retreated and pulled out his phone.
---
Jade was focused on helping Floyd from within the fort he hadn't even noticed the shark get onto the wall of the fort. They had a snowball prepared for him and needed him to look over at them for it to count, so they cleared their throat.
"Ah, so you came for me," the vice president smiled smugly, "what's a little thing like you even going to be able to do against me?"
"I may be small, and glow, but I'm still a shark." They snap causing all to look over at them as they do a flip over the eel. Carnation managed to throw the snowball mid flight and hit Jade right in the nose. They landed on the other side of the fort and Jade fell dramatically. "I do believe you are out of this fight now," they say without looking back at the eel. Torben and Floyd both dropped the snowballs in their hands at the sight of Carnation defeating Jade.
"Jade!" Floyd yelled, running over to his twin and cradling him in his arms, "Jade answer me!"
"Floyd," the fallen twin barely got out, "avenge me." With that his head fell to the side. The remaining twin looked up, eyes ablaze locked onto the back of the fleeing first year. The moray formed a large snowball out of the fort that once protected Jade and threw in at them. Torben acted before he realized and tackled the shark out of the way. Sadly, by saving Carnation, he got hit in the face, which meant he was also out.
"T-torben, did you just save me?" They turned to him and gently wiped the snow from his face. "Why would you do something like that for me?"
"Win this, you and Donar got this for all of us." He smiled up at them, one of his eyes showing through his bangs. They nodded and helped him up so he could walk over to the side with Perun and Jade.
"Torben, why did you do that, Nation wouldn't have been out if they got hit in the back," Perun whispered to his brother who shrugged.
"Honesty, my body moved on its own. They smell like strawberries," the youngest answered nonchalantly causing Jade and Perun to give him quizzical looks before all turn their attention back to the fight.
---
Carnation was dodging like mad as Floyd's main target meanwhile Donar was resuppling the snowballs. No one noticed as more students came out of their dorms and began to walk around the campus. Some watched the snowball fight briefly before moving on since the fight was rather intense, sadly, causalities were inevitable.
Carnation flipped to dodged another snowball and it hit a passerby in the face. The student fell and the shark rushed over to check on them, the snowball was still almost fully together.
"Floyd, what did you do? We said no ice!" Carnation scolded which caused the remaining eels to snap out of the battle. Donar and Floyd went over the shark to see the student unconscious.
"I didn't use ice though, maybe I threw it too hard."
"We should get him to the infirmary."
"Indeed you all should," a voice called out from behind them all. Looking over they all saw a rather ticked Professor Crewel. "I suggest you pups run along, and never do anything so reckless again." The two first years nodded before hoisting the student onto Floyd's back and move to the infirmary together.

Sorry I've been inactive lately, but here's some scenarios I think would happen but don't think I could write into stories.
Ace and Deuce teaching Carnation to skateboard.
Vectra placing in top ten of the school's unofficial arm wrestling contest.
Erik definitely doing that fake hand gag to the first years that don't know he has a prosthetic arm.
Grim and Sol's bird friends being in a turf war because Grim keeps stealing from the birds.
Carnation and Vectra throwing all the Octavinelle students out of the dorm kitchen when they cook because the other students will keep trying to eat their food.
Erik will occasionally help the two cook, but most the time is also kicked out of the dorm kitchen.
When Carnation first learned to knit stuffed animals, they were so excited and ended up making themself a giant knit teddy bear, it's in their dorm room.
Carnation has made so many things for their friends.
Sol and Ortho hang out a lot. Ortho likes to help feed the birds. They also go around bringing students back anything the birds found.
Idia geeked out when he heard Erik made his own arm. The two of them talk robotics pretty often.
Rook constantly brings Vectra gifts from Vil, even after Vil won the fight. Vectra would try to actually fight Vil if he was the one to bring her the gifts. Both Vil and Rook know this.

Home Bound: Erik
(CW: Aré)
Erik and his grandmother were talking in the greenhouse when someone approached.
"I greet the queen mother," the voice that spoke caused the prince to tense and made his eyes to turn towards the voice's owner, careful not to fully look over. The former queen scoffed slightly at the presence of the other prince. Finally cherry red eyes met brick red ones.
"Oh, Brother, get kicked out of another school?" Aré asked, noting doing a good job hiding a venom in his words.
"Actually, Aré, the academy is on break after finals," he gently sipped the tea in front of him, turning his gaze away from the male that was almost a look alike. The twin's eyes widen slightly at his brother's cold shoulder.
"I see, well it's great to have you home," the taller of the two finally said after clearing his throat. "Have you gone to greet our parents?"
"I have been to see mother, and I have yet to be informed of father's arrival back home." Erik was again nonchalant which made his brother smirk slightly.
"Well then, I shall take my leave," Aré announced and turned away. Once he was out of sight the prince sighed deeply.
"You alright there?" The king's mother finally spoke since the other prince arrived.
"I'm fine grandmother. If I'm being honest I expected a bit worse, but he's probavly just trying to save face." Erik stood up suddenly realizing his brother's reaction to one of his answers. "Excuse me queen mother, I believe my father might have returned without me being informed. I must leave."
"Very well, make haste then." With that the boy bowed and went back to the castle. Exiting through the door of the greenhouse, he didn't notice his twin waiting by the door to trip him.
"That's better, looks like your off your high horse now." Bright red eyes turned frosty looking down on the smaller twin as he put his foot on the other's back to keep him in the snow.
"Listen closely," Aré knelt down to speak in his brother's ear, foot still on his back, "No matter what you do, or who you suck up to you won't win against me, so stay on the ground like you were suppose to in the first place." With that he stood and walked away. The black haired boy took a deep breath, 'Don't stoop to his level Erik. You're better than he is.' He slowly stood up and did his best to clean himself off. Once he felt ready he went back into the castle to go greet his father.

Home Bound: Sol
The lion walked through the slightly run down fence long after waving goodbye to the Shroud brothers. His ear twitched at the sound of rustling causing him to turn in time to see a child barreling towards him. A grin spread across both beastmen as the little girl attempted to knock the boy over.
"Big brother!" The girl shrieked as Sol caught the girl in mid air.
"Hey Selene," the blond softly ruffled his sister's hair, careful to avoid the fluffy ears on the side of her head.
"How long are you home for?" She questioned as he carried her into the small, but cozy house.
"A week or two."
"Manoúla, manoúla. The bird was right Sol is home!" The young girl yelled through the small house. A woman with wavy blonde hair emerged from the kitchen with a warm smile seeing her two children.
"Welcome home, please make sure the door is fully closed, it's cold this time of year."
"Don't worry mama, I did. It smells like soup in here."
"Chicken lemon rice, Lene's favorite. She waits all year for this, you know." The two lions smile at the sheeplike girl as her brother sets her down. Selene ran off and Sol approached his mother for a hug.
"I missed you both."
"We missed you too. I fixed your bed after we got your note, so feel free to get comfortable."
"Thanks mama."
