You're drowning. A sea of emotions, responsibilities, people, things, everything. You just can't handle it all, you need to escape, but you can't. Even talking to someone and being told it's okay, compliments, nice things people say, it all adds up to drown you further. Guilt, for feeling this way when everyone's being nice and you're not enough.

Will you sink or swim?

hi i’m here to talk about characters with aches

aches from old injuries. finicky battle wounds, stiff joints from being restrained in captivity - things that their body never erased, pain that reminds them every day of what they went through. maybe it’s obvious, like a limp, or maybe it’s something that is only clear with early morning stretches and groans. maybe the aches grow worse in rainy weather, or when they think about the injury that caused the soreness.

a character who has to live with aches, and the painful memories behind them.

It’s not that he’s a masochist. Sure he got fucked up by Epsilon trying to self destruct inside his head, but it’s not because he likes pain. He lacks self preservation closer to like Jaune in vol 5 and 6 of RWBY. He doesn’t think he matters, he’s not as important as the others. That’s his mindset for a lot of what he does.

What strikes me about what Monty said about Wash’s fighting style is that it’s… reflective of Wash’s ‘tactical nature’ but also… His plans always seem to involve him taking a lot of hits? He plans to get hurt, and even die in many cases (“I’m sorry, did something about my actions indicated I expected to survive?”) to win. I.e getting his shit wrecked while stalling Locus, “Freckles, shake”, Monty’s example of him getting floored by Tex so he could snatch her rifle in the process, etc etc 

It’s amazing that, as a strategist, he’s so willing to view himself as collateral.
