I’ll tell ya, when I was a kid I had a huge love for dinosaurs (and I still very much do) and one day at one of my birthday parties, I was telling dinosaur facts to my family and they went along with it. Asking questions, fact checking me, and so on. That’s one of my fondest memories of my childhood before it all became a blur.

So, yeah, my bad on misunderstanding the post. I thought this was about online spaces not offline.

people are way too comfortable being dismissive of children and teenagers. if a toddler comes up to you and starts explaining skibidi toilet lore or if a 13 year old asks you if you want to hear about their mha ocs you have to listen with utmost sincerity or at least pretend to. this is the only way you will get into heaven.

I mean…there are parts where I agree and others where I don’t.

I think it’s a shitty move to dismiss minors in fandom spaces of their creativity. That they should be allowed to express their ideas, AUs, OCs, etc freely in fandom without adults being assholes about it. Calling it cringe or whatever, because we’ve all been there. We’ve all been the cringe kid at some point and even some of us (me) have never left.

But then, I’m also the person that believes that adults shouldn’t be shamed for not wanting minors interacting with them, especially if that person has certain accounts for raunchy content or just in general don’t want kids interacting with them, regardless of the content. You can be an all around fluffy, sweet, pastel artist that doesn’t draw NSFW, gore, or whatever, and still not want to speak with minors and I think that’s also perfectly okay.

I just say to respect people boundaries and expect that you are not always obligated to be in person’s presence online, and also, to not be an all time dick to children. Telling them to give up their creative liberties is stupid and childish.

I swear, nowadays people have totally forgot the very serious definition of grooming and are now using that word as a gotcha. Like, I've seen people use the word "grooming" to describe non grooming situations and it hurts to see people water down such a term. Now, I can't take grooming allegations serious anymore because people are calling EVERYTHING grooming!

Besides, this is a 31 year old man dating someone who is damn near their thirties...like I just can't anymore

AITA for dating a 27 year old man?

I (31M) have been with my boyfriend (27M) for over a year now. We met in college but didn’t really talk or anything because we didn’t have classes together but met up later on Facebook and actually got to know each other. After months of talking, video chatting and needing out about similar stuff he told me he liked me. We started going out and now we’re a thing.

People say he is too young for me. We’re both at similar life stages though - both moved out, both can drive, both working retail. Only difference is I don’t have my degree yet due to health problems and work making it hard for me to take a full course load but I’m close to done now - only a semester left until I catch up to him in terms of being a real adult.

Anyway, people say our relationship is toxic and imbalanced. They say it’s a case of grooming because of the age difference and that he should be with someone still in their 20s. I could obviously understand why people would be concerned if, for instance, we started dating when he was 20 and I was 24. That would’ve been really weird. That’s two completely different life stages right there. However, I think 27 and 31 are a lot closer together in terms of life stages.

 There is one thing I feel guilty about. I have a physical disability. I mentioned early on that I had issues with my physical health (chronic pain). I’m fairly functional most of the time, but sometimes I have flareups. During these flareups, he made the decision to help me out.  By that, I mean that sometimes he helps me come over and move heavy things or give me rides to places like the doctor if I’m in too much pain to drive. I don’t make him do these things, but he has offered.

Some people have said that, even if we were the same age, it would be wrong for me to date him In this condition. They described me allowing him to do those things as taking advantage of him and that’s something I do feel guilty about. It’s not one-sided. I also try to be able assistance to him whenever he needs it. 

They also mentioned that he can do better than me and deserves someone younger, healthier, who has an actual degree and makes more money. When I bring this up though, he doesn’t seem like he wants to leave. He told me he likes me and he wants to still be with me. Am I the asshole?
