I don’t really get why people like to have Atem always getting super jealous over Yuugi. Not only is it not romantic, it’s not his character, either. For one thing, Atem is canonically the ultimate peachshipper. He’s actively encouraging Yuugi to get with Anzu and is very enthused about the idea of them getting together. For another thing, Atem is so incredibly self-sacrificing and driven by a sense of duty to his friends that he’s constantly surprised by anyone ever showing that they care about him - he wouldn’t get jealous because he wouldn’t even consider himself to be an option.

Even if he did, he still wouldn’t get jealous because that’s just not like him to do - he’d absolutely want Yuugi (or anyone else that he cared about, as I’m sure this issue arises in other Atem ships) to be with whoever was the best person and brought him happiness, even if that person isn’t him. And in the context of canon he would definitely not consider himself to be a good choice - he knows his situation, knows that he doesn’t really belong there, and believes that he’s constantly bringing misery and danger into Yuugi’s life. Even outside of that context though (say the ever-popular magical post-canon land where somehow Atem has his own body and whatnot), I still think he would have trouble thinking that he was good enough for Yuugi, let alone the best person.

I really love all these adult Yugi designs Takahashi has given us on his instagram, they feel like a balm after years of having just Tall & Buff gx Yugi [of course no offence to people who do like it, I just always felt his gx design was personally kinda off]

UNNNNNderstood, anon. I’ve never been keen on tall, broad shouldered muscles for miles Yuugi, either. Or Atem, actually (except the arms, those boys clearly get arm day). 

Granted, I don’t mind it out of context, and I see great fan content around it. I just can’t separate that Yuugi type from what GX was doing with the Atem parallels, especially in dub, so it left a permanent sour taste in my mouth. Confident handsome compact nerd Yuugi x existing is my true White Flag ship.

(That said, I can’t help but get a bit anxious every time Takahashi does passing post-canon content via art. So far he’s not betrayed any faith but if he ever Harry Potter epilogue’s me, I’m flippin’.)

she’s actually a jock (probably track/swim team)

also extremely new york, doesn’t have an accent probably because she was separated from joey, but she’ll fight you in the street
