The Night That Never Ends {Minzel}
Marzel’s thumb rubbed over Minnie’s arm, she didn’t need to worry about him but he couldn’t exactly say that he was a siren and that was why. That he would heal just fine and there wasn’t too much of a risk in general.
Unless of course someone saw/heard him use his voice and knew what it meant.
If Simba remembered. Marzel would have to find out later.
Either way he did follow, silently looking at the chaos of everyone running around before taking the ice pack. “I know. I’m not too sure I could have handled seeing you hurt at all. Even just bruises. I don’t think I trust myself not to hunt the person down.” And kill them.
Minnie smiled up at Marzel, which was probably an odd reaction to have when hearing your boyfriend just confess that he would hunt someone down on your own behalf, but it was the fact that he was protective of her that had her smiling.
It wasn’t something the brunette really experienced much from anybody since well the death of her parents. No one really cared so much about her after that.
“It’s a good thing then that you don’t have to worry about that.”
She reassured him, placing a very, very gentle kiss on his lips so as not to further hurt him. Simba had managed to get Marzel there too and the fact that all Marzel’s bruising was Simba’s fault was still so mind boggling for the brunette.
“Is the ice helping?” Minnie asked as she caught Marzel taking a look at the unit around him. “Believe it or not, this is actually calm now.” Which was why her charge nurse had given Minnie the okay to head home and get some rest.

Just Your Typical Swynlake Disaster Night || Mibbie
Tibbs didn’t need to watch Minnie as she worked; he trusted her to get on with what he had asked her to do, and not only that, but he trusted to take the next step, to know what needed to be done and to do it without being asked. Minnie was good at anticipating what Tibbs would need, and what he would want her to do, and that was why they usually made a pretty good team.
“Well, at least you got to enjoy the night for a time, eh?” He said to Minnie with a fleeting smile before he looked back to the patient; there was blood covering his hands, up over his wrists and even across his forearms, more of it than he had realised. The poor lad probably wished he had never gone at all, and Tibbs couldn’t blame him. He was just glad he’d been at the hospital to prepare, to get things ready for the carnage that had tumbled into A&E just moments after they’d gotten the phone call.
“I think a pinch is the least of his worries.” One of the interns muttered, but she quickly shut up with a look from Tibbs.
“Go and chase up that blood, please,” He told her, looking to one of the others. “Who was meant to be pushing the morphine?”
“I’m on it!” Another intern echoed, scurrying round the room. The whole room was one big flurry of activity, people rushing to deliver new bandages, to hand over the patient’s previous records, getting the tetanus shot ready and now grabbing the morphine. Tibbs was used to that, though; he worked best in situations like this, when there was so much activity that it should have been overwhelming, but in fact it helped him to focus. To zone in on what needed to be done, and delegate properly.
“Pushing 5mg!” The intern cried above the din, only pausing until she’d gotten a nod from Tibbs.
“We have the blood!” The two who had run to the blood bank skittered in through the door of the treatment room, carrying the bags carefully.
“Nurse Muysken, if you could,” Tibbs nodded, his arms still locked, still trying to stop the bleeding. He was going to need an intern to swap in for him if they wanted to get up to theatre, but there was time for that. “You’re not hurt yourself, are you?” He asked her, watching Minnie as she worked.
Honestly, if they have all been in a less hectic situation, Minnie would have snapped back at the interns reminding them of the importance to explain everything to a conscious patient. The more the patient knew of what was going on, the less panic they well feel, and with less panic came a steadier set of vital signs, which is one of the key factors doctors looked at to see if the patient was stable enough to be transferred to the OR.
Again, this was a hectic situation so Minnie had other priorities to focus on as she administered the tetanus shot and proceeded in grabbing the blood that had just finished arriving.
Thankfully, Tibbs had taken care of that remark for the brunette, another reason she always loved working with him. He respected the nurses.
It was in the midst of hanging the blood and making sure that everything was running smoothly with the IV pump that Minnie had looked at the intern who was about to administer the morphine. Immediately she had stopped what she was doing to grab that doctor’s attention.
“Don’t administer the morphine there! That’s the line the blood is going to transfuse through. Use the other line that I already have set for all medications and IV fluids.”
You don’t administer medication through the same line as blood and the intern quickly realized that fact she had forgotten giving Minnie a sheepish look as she moved to the other side of the patient where the second IV line was found. Once Minnie was sure the intern was giving the morphine in the correct line she went back to finishing up with the blood.
 “No not really, a few bruises and scratches but nothing detrimental. I got lucky, which I’m grateful for, it gives you guys an extra pair of hands.”

The Night That Never Ends {Minzel}
“I don’t think I want to know.” Marzel lied, because everything in him wanted to know and then kick that person’s ass, even Bors agreed with him. Of course they would go in with a plan of attack and then kick someone’s ass but Marzel also wanted to be here with Minnie, walking her home.
Wincing at Minnie’s touch even with as gentle as it was, Marzel knew he probably didn’t look too pretty. Simba had done a number on him. “I’m fine, I wouldn’t even worry about this it will heal no problem.” As long as he wasn’t going for any testing though, he wasn’t going to stop her from getting an icepack.
Minnie caught Marzel wincing and so she very gently moved her hand away from the bruising. She placed a quick kiss on his forearm and sighed a little more so from her feeling as tired as she was then anything else.
“I know that it would, but an ice-pack will help it feel better for right now and it could stop any swelling from forming.”
Pulling back at bit then, the brunette extended her hand with a smile that practically told Marzel that he should just concede to her very well meant nagging and follow her. The smile worked because he took her hand as Minnie gave it a squeeze and had him follow her into the unit.
She took him to one of their supply closets as she found the ice-packs, opened one up, gave it a pop and shake to make it cold and handed it to him.
“Although I hate to see bruises on you, I’m very glad that is all you have. I saw some... heavy stuff tonight and I’m just glad I didn’t have to see any of that on you.” She confessed, curling herself back to his side.

It’s Not as Bad as It Looks ~~ [Tominnie]
@sweetheart-minnie
Just in case you weren’t counting: Tom had been hit in the head, hard, twice in the last few hours. He had a hard head, his ma teased him about it constantly, but even he knew that it wasn’t that hard. They’d gone to the hospital as a group, seeing as Rose, Henry, and himself had taken a good beating. John and Phil had made it out more or less unscathed, for which Tom was grateful for.
As soon as they’d made it through the doors, they’d been split up. Tom hated this. Both because Henry was his responsibility (well, his and Phil’s and John’s) and Rose was his bloody girlfriend. The one he’d almost killed earlier. Maybe it was good he wasn’t with her, but that didn’t make him feel any better about it. So, he’d grumbled and grouched as he was bullied onto a bed and told to wait his turn. Tom hated the hospital. Not because he was afraid of them, but because he always felt like he was taking up space that should go to someone more injured, more sick. The A&E was chaotic. Machines blared, people shouted, gurneys rattled.
He hoped it would be a while before someone got to him. Even if he felt nauseous and exhausted and really just–wanted to sleep…
His eyes had fluttered closed and he only jerked awake when the curtain pulled back to reveal the nurse, looking down at his chart.
And, lo and behold, that nurse was none other than Miss Minnie.
“I promise–” he started, holding up his hands, “it’s not as bad as it looks.”
To say that the hospital was jam-packed was a complete under statement. Swynlake General Hospital was under complete chaos, organized as best as chaos can be organized but chaos nonetheless. Patients kept on arriving by the second, sirens kept blaring around the clock, vital machines were constantly beeping from low battery charge, transporters were playing musical stretchers and wheel chairs, and the health care workers were all running like chickens without a head.
It was bad. It was bad enough that when Brenda (the A&E charge nurse for this current night shift) heard that Minnie was coming in with a patient, she was thanking the heavens above for that busted up patient that brought her another nurse.
Talk about messed up nurse humor.
Minnie didn’t even have time to switch into scrubs while juggling the multiple patients that were pouring out of her ears. It was why she appeared to her next patient as if she had just ran off on her date.
And oh it was Tom with multiple skin lacerations, sort of slouched with drowsy eyes and when Minnie caught a quick look at the back of his head... in need of stitches. His head immediately became her first concern and priority.
The brunette laughed a little with a smile on her lips. “You know, most of my patients that start off with those words end up far worse. I don’t know if I would want to stick that bad juju on myself. Just saying.”
Immediately, she began vital signs and got to work starting an IV line on Tom’s arm. He was going to need antibiotics and probably some pain medication, but Minnie was extremely relieved and happy to hear Tom speak clearly. It lessened the chance of a severe head trauma.
“Want to tell me how you got those head lacerations? Was it on the job? Any change of vision, headache, and/or nausea?”

Just Your Typical Swynlake Disaster Night || Mibbie
Tibbs knew he was lucky. He so often took the back seat when it came to events, letting the interns and the other staff members have an opportunity to let their hair down. It wasn’t like he didn’t also like an opportunity to get dressed up and have a nice time, but he also really didn’t mind the work. And this time, it had almost worked out in his favour; he was caught up in the after math, perhaps, but at least he hadn’t been there to get caught up in things in the first place. He might’ve been able to do some first aid on the scene, but if he’d gotten injured, the trauma team would be one surgeon down, and that was the last thing they needed tonight.
He had absolutely no idea how much time had passed when he heard Minnie’s voice beside him, offering her help. He had flitted from one bed to another, he’d been into surgery, and as soon as he’d gotten back to the ward he’d been thrust straight into another room with another patient.
But he was very much glad to hear Minnie’s voice. He knew he could trust her to do her job, and to do it well.
“Patient’s just come in, paramedics dropped him off. Multiple stab wounds, one to the abdomen, one to the thigh, could be more but the paramedics identified those as the worst.” He informed her, his words quick and clipped as he worked. “We need to get him his TIG, and we’ve called up for some o-negative until we can get his records. Could you get the Bleed Kit?” He asked her, nodding to the bright red pack on the wall, though he doubted she didn’t know where it was. “We need to get him stable enough to move.”
Stab wounds, Minnie had just heard Tibbs mention the word stab wound. It wasn’t an unusual word for the brunette, they have had there good share of such in the hospital before, so this definitely wasn’t her first case.
Nor did it halt her movement as she was already heading towards the wall to grab the kit Tibbs needed before he had even mentioned it.
Her head, however, was certainly in shock about the information. How in the world did the town go from a totally normal mixer night to people randomly stabbing others in less than a blink of an eye? What in the hell had happened in that quick amount of time?
Minnie told herself that now wasn’t the time to think about any of that, her priority at this moment was her patient and getting him stable to move. She immediately opened the bleed kit and passed the contents to Tibbs. While he began to add pressure, Minnie got straight to work in placing an IV line as fast and efficient as possible so that they were prepared the moment the blood arrived.
“I think it would have been loads easier if I had just been assigned to work tonight.” The brunette started some IV fluids and then quickly went to retrieve the TIG so that she was able to administer it. “It went from normal to hell in hand basket in a blink of an eye.”
Preparing the medication, Minnie now looked over the poor boy as she smiled warmly down at him. “You are going to feel another pinch okay? We are going to get you through this the best we can.”

The Night That Never Ends {Minzel}
Marzel wasn’t sure the night had ended, there was still so much going on. The hospital still felt like everything was rushing around them. Having Minnie in his arms safe and sound was more than enough for him at the moment.
He had gone radio silent and he hadn’t even thought to text Minnie or check his own phone during it.
“Yeah she was acting the same as others I ended up dragging her home.” She hadn’t done too much damage with her voice. “Come on we should get you home though. Surely after this night you need a good night’s rest.”
Minnie was glad to hear that Marzel was able to find his sister, and apparently without harm. Hopefully, he had found her in time to prevent her from causing terrible harm that would have her feeling awful about in the morning.
“I wonder what happened...” She whispered out loud before sighing.
Normally, the hospital was a great place to find out all the ins and outs of what was happening in town, but tonight had been far too hectic for anyone to gossip around. It was a miracle they had been able to make it through the night and bring some sort of semblance of calm.
The brunette drew herself the tiniest of bit back so that she could get a good look at Marzel. His features were still colored in black and blue hues and Minnie hated to see that on him. She very gently ran her thumb across his cheek.
“Let me at least get you an ice-pack first. You need to be looked after too.” She teased tiredly, although she was serious about the ice-pack.

All Hands On Deck || Minzi + Isabel
@zira-blackwell
Minnie was very grateful to have reached the hospital safely and in one piece. Everything about Swynlake right now was under chaos and entering through the A&D entrance of the hospital, the brunette knew that she would be seeing chaos as well.
But now wasn’t the time to think about all of that, Isa needed immediate hospital attention. The poor girl was looking worse by the second and for as much as she was worried for her, she knew Ollie was ten fold. Her priority right now was to get Isabel the care she needed.
Thankfully, Minnie was able to get a hold of Lily before reaching the hospital. There were very very specific instructions she left her dear childhood friend who was also a nurse in the hospital. One, have a room and bed ready because they were coming, and two no residents. Minnie did not want a resident she wanted a doctor because this was not the time for a new baby resident to learn on Isa.
Ollie needed for Isa to pull through, Minnie did too and she was sure her sister needed that as well, so no resident.
Lily delivered and as soon as everyone entered Isa was stably transferred from Marzel’s arms to a stretcher. Ollie waited in the waiting area and Minnie gave Marzel on final hug before he had to head back to the chaos to find his sister.
Lily was now by Minnie’s side handing her a hospital phone as they both got the stretcher to a room. “It’s all hands on deck.” Lily mentioned. “Brenda is charge, she knows that you are on and will be taking this one. Zira will be the doctor.”
Minnie gave her friend a huge hug before she rushed out of the room. Immediately, she got to work getting a set of vitals, starting an IV line, getting labs she knew Zira will be ordering, grabbing meds and comforting Isa all up until the curtain opened and Zira arrived.
Knowing that there wouldn’t be a chart on Isa since she didn’t arrive through a medical pathway, Minnie began the oral report.
“Isabel Flores. Eighteen. Was at the mixer and was found being beaten on by a man twice her size and height. Multiple bruising, pain in the abdomen, chest and head but is alert and oriented. Has coughed up blood twice. Vital signs are currently trending down.”

BDRP Wrimo Task #7:
5 headcanons for your/your character’s favorite place in Swynlake.
Swynlake General Hospital:
Swynlake General Hospital has a very cute nifty gift shop by the main entrance of the building. Inside the gift shop one can find enchanted options to buy for their loved ones such as, but not limited too: adorable animated stuff animals that will physically give a patient a hug, comfort clothing (socks, sweatshirts, etc.) that will change colors according to the patient’s wishes, balloons that will not deflate for the entire duration of a patient’s hospital stay, personalized blanket throws that adjust in temperature according to a patient’s needs and so much more!
Every time a baby is born a quick lullaby snip is played over the hospital’s intercom system. It’s never the same lullaby tune and it lasts for about five seconds. If anyone is ever grumpy about hearing the lullaby snip-bit that tune ends up staying stuck in their head for the rest of the day.
There is a ghost that haunts the Swynlake General Hospital morgue, Edith Ackley. She died in Swynlake General Hospital after swallowing a chicken bone. Since her death was so humiliating, she enjoys playing tricks whenever someone needs to enter the morgue. She finds it hilarious seeing workers run off scared shitless.
There are multiple directions sign within Swynlake General Hospital because the town’s magic always switches up the hospital’s entrances. So, if you enter through the children’s wing but instead find yourself at the main entrance, don’t worry, just look up there will be directions right there for you.
During fall back and spring forward all of the wall clocks in the hospital will glitch. The clock hands begin to spin around in all sorts of alarmingly fast directions and some clocks even swap places. All night shift workers know to have their own wrist watch if they are due to work one of those two shifts. All OR’s those nights have a designated person that is solely on wrist watch duty.

The Night That Never Ends {Minzel}
Marzel had gotten Isa, Ollie and Minnie all to the hospital pretty easily. But it was there that he had to leave again looking for his sister. It was only a couple hours later that he had shown back up to the hospital expecting Minnie to sill be there having told her not to leave until he could come back just incase something else happened. Who knew who was out there and doing what?
You couldn’t even trust Simba and what did that say?
He was rushing back now heading through the halls easily as he texted Minnie that he was here.
He only relaxed when he saw her as unharmed as he left her. The weight of the world slipping off his shoulders for now.
“How are they?” Marzel questioned reaching out to touch her arm and bring her in gently.
@sweetheart-minnie
Minnie was exhausted.
Actually, exhausted didn’t even feel close enough to describing how she felt right now. First of all, it was some god forsaken hour in the night right now, probably close to morning, but definitely some awful hour where the human body shouldn’t be awake for. Then there was the fact that Minnie had not stopped since she got to the hospital.
Literally, there hadn’t even been time for her to find some spare scrubs to switch in to. She was still in her mixer outfit and that outfit did not include sneakers.
Needless to say, she couldn’t feel her own legs right now and the rest of her body was sore, like sore in places she didn’t even know could get sore.
Yet, even under all of that exhaustion nothing felt more beautifully relieving than to see Marzel back at the hospital safe and sound and in one piece. So when Marzel had brought her in closer, Minnie was only too glad to curl right in resting her head over his chest and wrapping her arms around him in an embrace. She had been so terribly worried since he left taking every single chance she could get to look at her phone so as not to miss any messages from him.
Marzel holding her right now lifted a world of weight from off her chest.
“They are okay.” She answered softly. “Isa ended up needing surgery but she pulled through. Ollie is with her right now. Did you find your sister? Is she okay?”

Just Your Typical Swynlake Disaster Night || Mibbie
@exsgttibbs
Minnie had just gotten out of Isabel’s surgery with Zira and she was... well there was a reason medical workers were told not to treat loved ones. The thing was, however, that Swynlake was a small town and with all that was happening tonight recommendations flew out the window.
So did scrubs.
The brunette had actually had the night off and so she had attended the same mixer that went up in flames with Marzel. She had made her way into the hospital with Isa and it was now all hands on deck. She was here and the hospital was not releasing her when all hell was breaking loose everywhere around them. It didn’t matter if the brunette was in civilian clothing, her charge nurse put her straight to work the minute she spotted her.
Which was completely okay with Minnie, she wouldn’t have turned back anyways. The hospital needed the help and she wanted to help. She also needed the distraction because her boyfriend had left to go right back in that chaos and find his sister. If she wasn’t occupied she would turn into a puddle of worried mess.
Swiftly placing her hair up she entered the first room she spotted that needed an extra pair of hands.
Tibbs was in the room beside a patient that looked pretty busted up and with no back up. The patient was a kid, couldn’t be older than Isa or Ollie and he was not looking in great shape. He looked like he came out the short stick of a brutal fight.
“Tell me what to do. I’m your extra pair of hands.”

Baking For Two || Minzel
Pulling Minnie close Marzel pressed his lips against her forehead. She was so immensely strong and brave for taking this step with him. It made Marzel long for Valentino too, Something more than just a necklace that once was his. There were no books, or trinkets. There was just stories and memories for him to hold onto.
Ones that faded with time.
“I think they’d like the choice. The ability to compare and potentially vote which one they like better. Perhaps they could even guess which flavour is which.” Anything that turned something into a game Marzel had learned they had loved.
When Marzel pulled her in closer, Minnie simply remained in his embrace for a good moment enjoying the warmth that wrapped around her. She knew she could stay right where she was nice and snugged inside of Marzel’s arms for the rest of the day and be more than perfectly content, but then she would forget about the pastries.
And she absolutely loved the idea of the kids enjoying the pastries having different fillings.
“Then we have to make sure to give them different choices. The pastries are normally made with this custard like filling that I could make too and I have some chocolate chips I can melt so that some of the others will have chocolate fillings.”
Minnie pulled away from Marzel’s arms, even though she really didn’t want to, and pulled out the bag of chocolate chips she had in her pantry to place it with the rest of the ingredients. She then quickly scanned over the recipe book and grabbed her whole almonds and sugar to blend them together on the blender.
“Want to help me separate for egg whites?”

It’s Always Nice To Catch Up || Minti
Tiana hadn’t thought of it that way. She had always believed that, growing up in a magic-friendly town like Swynlake, she knew everything she needed to know about Magicks just through experience and proximity. She would have assumed Minnie would think the same. But maybe there was more to it than Tiana had thought.
Now that she thought about it, she didn’t really even have that many friends who were Magicks. Aurora, of course, but they had just moved in together. She didn’t think Lou really counted as a friend… was that really it? It wasn’t something that ever really occurred to her.
“That’s true. Good for you,” Tiana said warmly. “I’m surprised they don’t require that, now that you say that. It seems like something everyone should know about if they’re going to work in a hospital. And in a school. But I suppose not everyone’s as thoughtful as you are.” She laughed.
Tiana’s phone buzzed. “Oh, I think that’s the person I’m waiting on. I should probably go meet up with him– we should do this again sometime, you know? It’s been too long.”
“You would think so right? Especially considering that both schools and hospital are located in a heavily populated magick location. Sometimes the system is just so backwards.”
It made Minnie shake her head. She hoped with the town board election this year that maybe that could change. It wasn’t fair that only great healthcare can be extending to only parts of the town’s population and not the other simply because of lack of knowledge.
It was inexcusable really and Minnie was done with being part of that problem.
The last thing she ever wanted was for something to go wrong with Peri because of this or even any of the kids in her school that were magicks. It was absolutely horrible and if the change couldn’t happen well, maybe Minnie was going to have to start being that change.
Just then, Tiana’s phone buzzed and that brought Minnie back to the present and away from her own thoughts.
“Yes, yes we have to! And maybe outside of the hospital next time, like getting a bite to eat? Or a walk in the park. I’ve missed seeing you around!” Minnie got up from her seat to give her friend a nice warm hug. “And I will definitely be there for your grand opening!”

It’s Always Nice To Catch Up || Minti
Tiana raised her eyebrows at the mention of going back to school. What could Minnie possibly be doing with magick studies classes? Tiana didn’t disapprove, of course– magick studies was the perfect thing to study if you lived in Swynlake, and there was plenty of application for it.
Maybe she was trying to boost her CV– nurses had to know how to work with a variety of patients, after all. But it still seemed like a lot of work to add to her already-full schedule, and as far as Tiana knew, neither the hospital nor the school was requiring it. Then again, Tiana had always had a pretty simple view of education: you put in work so that you could advance your career. Culinary school had been fun, but it had always been about the degree more than the process.
“That’s great, Minnie! Peri’s lovely,” Tiana agreed. She could definitely see the two of them as a good pair. “That is quite a lot though, two jobs and schoolwork. Do you need those classes for some kind of certification? Or is it just because it interested you?”
It did sound like an awful lot, Minnie was aware of that, but she had people watching over her in case it became far too much for her. See, the brunette was horrible at realizing when too busy was really too busy, so while it sound like a lot it felt doable for Minnie, just like everything else.
It will honestly be the death of her one day.
“Honestly, the classes came about because of this conversation I had with Marzel once. It made me realize that I don’t know as much as I should about all the different magicks and that’s awful for any of them if they ever came to the hospital to get treated, so I wanted to correct that.”
The hospital itself didn’t know as much as they should especially considering they were located smack in the center of a very magic-friendly town. It simply wasn’t right.
“I thought of Peri too, heaven forbid she would need the services of the hospital and because the staff doesn’t know that much about fairies, she gets treated wrongly enough so that we cause more damage than good. I would never want that for her, so I’m taking classes now. I want to be part of the solution rather than the problem you know?”

Baking For Two || Minzel
Marzel barely even glanced down when Minnie took his hand but instead threaded their figures together and stepped a touch closer so she wasn’t reaching out.
And he was rewarded with her head against his arm and well Marzel didn’t have a problem with that as his thumb moved to make circle on the back of her hand.
“That’s an interesting story I’m glad that we’ve got the timing right for this treat.” Marzel offered a smile as he looked over the recipe book scanning the page for directions and ingredients that he understood.
“How do you feel dusting it off?”
Minnie watched as Marzel scanned through the recipe pages and it reminded her of when she was little her feet on a step stool as she eagerly flipped through the pages to read of all the goodies that could be found. Her mother would always laugh at her, challenge her to find the recipe she needed and then read all the instructions out-loud. It was how Minnie got good with her Spanish.
The brunette didn’t know if she would have been able to open this book and look at it fondly if Marzel had not been around. He made the heavy weight guilt fizzle away so that only the good memories replayed in her head.
And so when he had smiled down at her, Minnie couldn’t help but to return his smile with a warm one of her own.
“It feels good. I thought it would feel heavier you know? But it doesn’t. I have a lot of good memories with this recipe book. My mom used it a lot too to teach me Spanish, she would have me read the all the instructions out loud. I would never get mad at her because I was going to get me some yummy pastry in the end.”
Minnie laughed. “She knew all of my weak spots. You think the kids will like more strawberry filling than raspberry? Or should we just do an even mix of the two?”
