You met Lucas in the early days of the outbreak when you were looting and you’d stuck together since. Your companionship was strictly platonic until one night you went to him crying about how you’d never get to experience anything a person would in their life before the world went to shit; dating, jobs, marriage, having a family etc etc. Honestly, he didn’t know what to tell you apart from the fact that he wanted to know what your lips tasted like so naturally, one thing led to another and you’d ended up bagging your first boyfriend at the beginning of the end. Congrats. 

That was all fine and well until Lucas stopped allowing you to do little jobs and clear outs of any houses you came across just in case things were to go south and you hated that felt like you were pulling your weight less and less but Lucas wasn’t willing to take any chances. This refusal to put you in harms way got to the extent of him coming back from foraging with a gash in his eyebrow and a large bruise settling onto his cheekbone after being ambushed. 

You ran to him “What the fuck happened?” 

Lucas smiled holding a bag of goods “Told you I’d provide” 

You swatted his arm out of your face “I couldn’t care less about that, I care much more about you and the fact you’re bleeding, this wouldn’t have happened if you’d let me come with you?” 

He huffed “Out of the question, I’m not risking putting you in danger.” 

That was enough to set off the quiet rage that had been brewing over the past week “ And I can’t keep watching you put yourself in these dangerous situations for the both of us when I’m giving you nothing in return!” 

He smirked, dragging his thumb across his lip to wipe away some dried blood while staring at you “You give me your looove”

This only infuriated you more “Lucas this isn’t funny! Yes you might be thinking you’re doing me a favour by keeping safe by not letting me go but how do you think I would feel if you left and just never came back?” You tried to swallow the lump in your throat to no avail. 

Your voice wavered “What if anything happened to you? I’d never be able to forgive myself because if I wasn’t there, I love you but you have to think of what I want too, I want to keep you safe just as much as you want to protect me. So please, let me do my part” 

Lucas stepped closer, realising the full extent of your upset and realising how selfish he’d been in his thinking. He engulfed you in a hug, arms securely around your waist and face pressed against your neck, his voice vibrating off it when he spoke “I’m sorry, I got caught up in worrying over you without thinking of how you would feel. I promise anywhere I go you’ll come with.” He brought his face away from your neck to press a small kiss to the place he was leaning against moments ago “I love you.” 

“And I love you stupid now let me clean up your face” you huffed, wiping the tears from your cheeks. 

“ Will you kiss it all better for me baby?” He grinned, lifting his eyebrows suggestively. 

“No but I can do a magic trick involving my boot and your ass”

[7:34PM] - Sitting at the kitchen table with Sicheng as he helps you with your studies in Chinese, feeding you a chip or giving you a small kiss every time you perfect a phrase. “You’re doing so well my love, I appreciate you trying so hard”

[2:04PM] - Jaehyun hears a crashing sound coming from the kitchen, he races there to see you surrounded by shards of broken ceramic.

“I’m so sorry Jae”

You shook your head. I’m okay love.” 

“Just hang tight and I’ll get a dustpan, don’t touch anything doll you might cut your fingers.”

[7:03PM] - You unleash a scream as what is possibly the biggest spider you’ve ever seen runs across your apartment, sending Sicheng into a frenzy from the room over, sprinting over to the living room where you were currently standing on a chair in hysterics.

He looks at you with wide eyes, first weapon in hand which just happened to be his shoe “What is it?!” 

You sniffled one word “Spider” 

Sicheng looked visibly relieved, dropping his shoe and putting his hand over his heart, feeling it return to a normal pace. 

He looked back up to you and couldn’t help but feel a little bit of sympathy for your shaking figure. 

He sighed “where did it go?” knowing he couldn’t bargain with you to come down until he caught it.

You whimpered and point in the direction that the spider wandered off to, Sicheng took a glass from the cabinet and walked over to the spider before placing the glass over it. He then opened the window before scooping up the spider with a piece of paper underneath the glass and emptied the glass out of the window. 

He placed the glass and paper down, walking back over to you, 

“baby will you come down now please? You’re going to get hurt.” 

You crouched down as Sicheng came to your aid once again holding his arm out for your to hold onto as you jumped down, wrapping your arms securely around his neck as his hands rested on your waist. Finally breathing a sigh of relief you thank Sicheng, pressing a tender kiss to his soft, full lips.
