more things to consider  :     viren knowing very well that he did a yikes with involving dragon blood in the process of healing soren as a child   ( even though at the time it was his best option ) ,  knowing that reavers are hard to not notice in the midst of intense battle & thus nudging soren towards joining the templars as within the circle viren could keep an eye on soren just as much as soren was tasked to keep an eye on the mages, & it was far less likely to run risk of soren revealing himself as a reaver while viren was around,

soren covering for viren & claudia constantly to hide the fact that they’re blood mages, sneaking them tomes & documents & keys, letting them know when & where he’s stationed & when & where not so that they know when to be cautious & when to sneak around   ( soren’s absolutely snuck claudia out once or twice, just because she’s his sister & deserves to run around outside the templars’ watch for a time ) .

ok so bc my brain’s been demanding extra action while i get thru the nature of the beast quest i’ve been thinkin abt timeline junk irt where in the da timeline i would think to place tdp’s da verse & then other stuff popped into my head & here’s what i’ve got

the chantry schism + the exalted marches + the fourth blight = the mage wars aka judgement of the half - moon  :     so, the orlesian chantry & the tevinter imperium’s greatest conflict was over how they each saw magic, tevinter believing that magic was meant to serve the greater good & not to control people & wanted to let mages be involved in politics, while the orlesian chantry went fuck no, so tevinter went ok fuck you too & formed their own chantry, & in return were faced with the exalted marches, which the impreial chantry withstood, & as retaliation for the marches refused to give aid during the fourth blight.     in tdp’s da verse, the orlesian chantry & the tevinter imperium would be elarion & xadia respectively, with the conflict for fucking sure involving blood magic, da’s equivalent to dark magic, with details of events tweaked to fit the da universe & / or to fit tdp lore.

some years or events would have to be sped up or discarded to account for the max separation from that time to the current available present being about 600 years in da as opposed to the millennium in tdp, or the mage wars themselves can just be brought closer to the modern day.

where are the human kingdoms in da!verse ???     uhhhhhh i’m tempted to say ferelden bc Dogs & that’s arguably the place we know shit best about regarding, well, any of how anything works, However Comma i’d say anderfels, i think ??????     they’ve got a monarchy, they’re where grey wardens originated, the weisshaupt fortress aka the grey warden hq is there, it’s pretty damn west of shit, oh & fuck, right, they share a border with the tevinter imperium which i just compared to xadia which shares a border with katolis, so that works out cool.     because we know relatively little about anderfels, i think that’d be a fun location to play with in converting katolis, & other human kingdoms, to the da universe.

of things to consider  :     viren, a blood mage, becoming an abomination through aaravos, an elf mage turned spirit turned desire demon, but in that way where the spirit lets its host have control most of the time so long as they listen to the spirit so it’s hard to know they’re possessed by a spirit unless you know what to look for or they tell you.

rewatching the second half of s3 & damn lines like “[claudia] will be a valuable asset.” “she is not an asset. she is my daughter.” rlly do make ya thonk abt how viren’s a really interesting antagonist because he sees himself as the furthest thing from a villain & genuinely cares about his family & about his kingdom but he also just has the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair, he will do literally anything it takes to achieve his goals & gain the power he deems necessary for said goals all while maintaining that it’s for the greater good, that the ends justify the means, & all while still genuinely caring about people & believing he is doing what’s best for everyone.

#thinking abt how the novel takes place like Maybe 2 weeks after the end of s3 #the whole.
