its kinda funny looking at my bestiary on flight rising to see the familiars im missing because literally all the familiars im still missing now are 1) elemental sprites, 2) beta/kickstarter rewards, 3) extremely hard to obtain coliseum bosses, and 4) that ONE FUCKING SINGLE SWIPP FAMILIAR that i have ALL THE STUFF NECESSARY to trade for but still HAVEN'T GOTTEN YET because swipp hasn't put that trade up for MONTHS so even though i have EVERYTHING I NEED to get it i still can't obtain it solely because the swipp RNG for deciding which trades it lists has been consistently FUCKING ME OVER for MONTHS ON END

it’s really funny being FR middle class because my lair makes me look like some kinda ritzy motherfucker with my UM accents and fancy apparel and rare familiars on some of my dragons but then you look into my actual value in terms of the amount of cash i have in my hoard and vault and you realize that all my value is tied up in assets and im actually almost perpetually broke because the moment i have even a little money i blast it on genes for my gen1s

every single time i go to list apparel on the AH and i see those godforsaken elemental crowns in my hoard i am filled with violent rage at how useless they are. it’s been years since their release and they’re still all so ugly and unwanted by the entire userbase that they don’t get listed for more than maybe 30-40g / 30-40kt, often going lower than 20g / 20kt. like. the elemental sashes from the year that i joined get listed for like 800 fucking gems on the AH, but these stupid goddamn fugly crowns aren’t even worth having. and i don’t want them, but they’re worth so little on the AH that it doesn’t even feel worth it to list them for auction. they’re just there, in my hoard, taking up space that i would rather have used by actually valuable apparel. and i hate them so fucking much.

part of how ive been motivating myself to play FR again has been setting goals for myself. and one of the goals ive set is that i want to try and collect ALL the coli boss familiars. and i’m close. im really close. im at 25 out of 30 and the only ones i have left to get are the terror toad from forbidden portal, and both bosses from rainsong jungle and the golem workshop.

and man. let me tell you. the pricing for these familiars is absolutely insane. like the goldenbeast and overcharged silverbeast were like 3-4kg, which really confused me because they were the bosses of a lvl 19 venue so i didn’t fully understand why they would be so high priced; then i was like “okay i think i get it actually, since these two are among the familiars that you get a reward for when bonding in fiona’s fantastic familiars, they end up being higher priced than some of the others, right?” but then i decided to look up the rainbowbeast, the reward familiar for bonding the two bosses from rainsong, and it was less than half the price of the goldenbeast and overcharged silverbeast at LAH. so i was completely fucking baffled as to why these two familiars were sooo high priced, esp when compared to the rainbowbeast? like every time ive checked the prices of one of the reward familiars from fiona they’ve been MASSIVELY more expensive than the familiars you bond to get them.... EXCEPT in the case of the rainbowbeast. and it is weird.

conversely, i went to check on the prices of the wartoads from the mire. and i assumed that they were going to be like 1kg or more because the mire is a lvl 24 venue and the wartoads are infamously hard to kill when you’re grinding. but nop. at the time of me checking, there was a MASSIVE undercutting war happening over the molten wartoad on the AH, to the point where someone listed a molten wartoad for fucking 75 gems. seventy. five. gems. i have never withdrawn money from my vault faster in my life than when i bought that fuckin wartoad.

ahh the joys of a fully unregulated petsite economy.

you know i understand that taste is incredibly subjective and what one person might consider a “pretty” dragon someone else might find it to be an unholy fucking abomination but sometimes when I look at a dragon i want to buy and i see a scry or two in its bio i’m just astonished at the sheer boring bullshit gene combos people create with colors that are stunning. like. how can you take a dragon with a color combo that makes me weep tears of pure golden joy and produce a scry that literally puts me to sleep.
