Norman wasn't a good dad. There was no need to remind Harry he failed at school, nothing prompted it! Harry gets an admission that he was wrong and a handshake. This reminds Harry his dad thought he'd fail again. Then Peter gets a heartfelt talk, leading to Harry feeling second best. Yes, Uncle Ben died but a little more positivity towards his own son wouldn't have hurt. He's still responsible for the Goblin endangering Harry at the parade and the Thanksgiving incident was him.

I never said he was a “Good dad”, just not a bad one. He was trying. Harry was ashamed to be seen with his father and Norman simply reminded him “you’re the one that flunked out of the private schools. Don’t be ashamed that you come from a rich family. Be proud of who you are.” Yeah that wasn’t the best thing to say. But Harry being ashamed of his father and the car isn’t exactly the nicest thing either. That is what prompted it. Basically “If you’re ashamed to be seen like this, you shouldn’t have dropped out of the schools that wouldn’t have judged you.” Like I said, not the nicest, but also it’s just one passing comment. It doesn’t exactly say “I’m the worst dad ever.”

Norman was kind enough to bring him his bag, and he was nice to Harry’s friend in a natural and normal way. Harry is the one that turned it into a competition. Norman was friendly to Peter before he even knew how smart he was.

Now as for Thanksgiving and the Parade, that is entirely the Green Goblin. Norman can’t control him. Norman didn’t even know the Green Goblin attacked the parade until after it happened. He was blacked out. Yes, later in the movie, he gives in to the Goblin- but Norman is now the submissive personality in his own head. He’s terrified of himself. Sure he injected himself- but he was desperate to prove his product and he was willing to endanger himself above anyone else. They were gonna cut funding to his life’s work. To the company that Harry was supposed to inherit. So he did a desperate, albeit stupid, thing. I believe that even before the Serum, Norman was on the verge of a nervous breakdown already. His way of talking, his pleading, his desperation. Poor guy was at the end of his rope. Then his own company forced him out!

And my finally point: in No Way Home Norman is devastated that Harry doesn’t exist and he goes to Spider-Man for help knowing that the Green Goblin needs to be stopped.

Norman wasn’t the best dad. But he loved his son and he made some mistakes. That doesn’t make him a “bad” person. Just makes him human. And blaming Norman for what the Goblin does is like blaming someone for another person’s crime.

I just decided to check the Technoblade tag and apparently there’s people claiming “he has had no narrative losses”???? But not just that, there’s people attacking cc!Techno over it like they have a right to tell him what to do with his character. Sure, have your criticisms and critiques. You’re allowed to have those. But trying to tell a content creator what you think they SHOULD be doing with their character in a bossy “I know better” way, is ridiculous. It’s his content. He’s just having fun.

And so what if he hasn’t had any losses?? That doesn’t automatically make it a bad narrative. Sometimes in stories, there are characters who don’t lose anything and it’s about what they gain because they started out lacking.

But, also, have they watched Techno’s POV? Right after the battle for La’Manburg he literally lost all of his friends and teammates when they formed a government right in front of him. Story wise this went against everything his character believed and he lost them. Sure he sorta gained Phil, but that is one person. And yeah, his sorrow over the loss of friendship and burned partnerships could’ve been played up a bit more. But it’s a minecraft roleplay for goodness sake, not a Hollywood mass production.

Also I would like to remind everyone that this series often plays out like a dungeons and dragons campaign. But instead of dice, random outcomes are dependent on player skill. Some of it is scripted, yes. But, for example, take the fight between Techno and Quakity right after the failed execution. Wilbur and others have said that situations like this are entirely dependent on player PVP skills. Quakity really tried to kill Techno. But skill wise, cc!Techno is just better at PVP. Wilbur has said that there was certainly a chance for the story to go a very different way if cc!Techno lost the fight. But he didn’t.

Techno may not have lost too much in the way of material things or his life. But he has been used, betrayed, betrayed again, etc etc. Techno as a character is seemingly meant to be the OP character that may have all the skill and items, but suffers from being constantly alone. His loss comes in the form of friendships and mental stability. Yes his own actions can be to blame for a lot of his lost friendships but that’s what makes him a character with flaws. And here recently, just when he has started to make new friends, Ranboo dies. And that was not shrugged off. (Unless you count using Ranboo’s death as a way to sell merch lol)

I will end this little rant by saying this: it’s just a minecraft roleplay. You’re allowed to have critiques and gripes with the story and characters. (Lord knows I do) But at the end of the day it’s just friends having fun and you shouldn’t go insulting them just because they didn’t write a story you like. And if you don’t watch his POV, you could start out by saying so. Because that means you don’t have the full story. I don’t watch Tommy’s POV so I’m not even gonna pretend to know what is going on with him other than what I have seen from Techno’s, Ranboo’s, or Philza’s POV.

TL;DR: Please don’t insult Minecraft YouTubers just because you don’t like their content.
