I am the most basic bitch rn when it comes to music. I’m listening to a lot of my comfort playlists: The Stones, George Harrison, Traffic, Small Faces, The Kinks, Fleetwood Mac…a lot of mellow 70s. Then I have my rock playlists: White Stripes, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys. Some days it’s Tyler Childers. I haven’t heard anything new that gets me really excited in a while, so maybe someone will help us both out :)

Notes: I wrote this for @zablife's 2k follower celebration event, An Evening at Arrow House. Congratulations, Lee! I swear it was not intended to be so long, and the prompt got away from me a little bit, so I hope that’s okay! I don’t know what happened, I just started writing the party scene, decided I needed to go back and write a little more backstory for the characters, and all of a sudden this thing had ballooned to 8K words. But I hope you still enjoy it! This is an AU and not part of the main story timeline. Please heed the warnings the can be found in the notes of each individual chapter.

The prompt was: Tommy has eloped with a young bride the family has deemed untrustworthy from reputable sources. The couple has just returned from their honeymoon in Paris and now the new Mrs. Shelby would like to meet those closest to him. The couple spares no expense for their lovely housewarming party, but it's ill-fated from the beginning as those Tommy holds near and dear try to run her off with tales of horror. Every room holds a surprise and each guest a secret, but what could they be?

JFC *sigh* I make it a rule to stay out of shit that does not directly involve me, but for this, I’ll make an exception.

I blocked them as soon as I saw the way they were stirring shit on the posts of others.

I’ve been a part of this fandom for years, and I can’t remember seeing so many red flags so quickly as I did with this one… and I had never seen so many people gleefully pole vaulting over land mines to interact with them. I unfollowed a lot of accounts that day because it was the antithesis of the vibe I want on my tumblr.

The thing is, some of y’all were fine with him being a bully and ganging up on others, but then want to holler like a scalded dog because he turned on you.

Remember that you don’t owe shit to anyone and that no is a complete sentence. Especially online. Always remember that you don’t know that motherfucker. I don’t care if you think you know them. You don’t.

Regular viewers will know I like to live a silly and uncomplicated life on here - enjoying my downtime with writing my smutty stories and chatting to my friends. But as someone who has somehow managed to convince a lot of you to click follow, and who a lot of Cillian fan anons come to to chat about our blorbo (I love you, beautiful nonnies) I feel it’s important that I use this blog to highlight not just how pretty Cill looked yesterday (which was very!) but to tackle the dreadful business that has been going on in the heart of our little fandom world.

Namely the very brave call out from a whole host of users who have been victimised and/or manipulated by @mrkdvidal1989. Because I want my friends and followers to be aware and stay safe.

First and foremost I want to share my love for all those who have experienced horrible things at his hands - his behaviour has been abhorrent and my heart goes out to all those he hurt. He preyed on your vulnerabilities and your kindness. And none of you are at fault for his disgusting and despicable actions. I applaud you for standing up and sharing your stories because that takes such courage 🤍 And for both those who have and haven’t shared, please know we are all beside you.

I do not have a story of my own to tell, beyond that he tried numerous times to engage me in conversation and I politely avoided being drawn in. From the beginning I wasn’t keen - for no reason I could put my finger on other than ✨bad vibes✨ - but after watching his behaviour in taking what appeared to be some kind of extremely sadistic pleasure in actively starting fights with Grace stans in our community, I didn’t want anything to do with him. Ship who you want, I don’t care, but there’s no room for bullying or attacking people just because they don’t agree with you.

But in all the horror he has created, I think this has served as an important reminder for us all to think more about how we protect ourselves online.

Anyone can be anyone in a place where we live behind our blogs and screens. It is devastating that this happened in a community like ours, where we are so kind and welcoming - exactly the reason why we love it here - and that someone would exploit that as a weakness. But it’s a wake up. I never want us to be less welcoming to newbies but we all need to be more confident in listening to our gut feelings, not accepting things at face value and being careful about how much irl stuff we divulge to strangers on the internet.

And above all, I’m begging you friends, please never EVER send nude photos of yourself to someone you don’t know (or even someone you do - I’m serious).

I also wanted to write this not just to condole but because am pretty certain I have found another account he is using - because it followed me a few days ago and I know from speaking to friends it also followed them on the same day. However, as I can’t prove that it is him, I don’t want to name it, in case I am wrong. It is entirely based on instinct from looking at it - but given this was the same gut instinct that made me avoid him originally, I’m sticking to it and have blocked the account.

If you want to know, I am happy to discuss in DMs so you can have a look and decide for yourselves. I am acutely aware that he has no qualms about creating new accounts to stay amongst us and I want all of us to be vigilant and stay safe.

Thoughts under the cut:

For a season that harbours a lot of iconic looks for Polly, I actually found this the hardest one to scour for these gifs. For the most part Polly can wear the same outfit for a whole episode, which makes sense partly because there's less time skipping but also since this change in style suggests these outfits are mostly new, and she doesn't have many like it. I think it's key this season to look at Polly's outfits because it's when she is most concerned with how she presents herself to society. It's a great difference from season 2 - her hair is cut and it's conservative, there are more muted colours and grays introduced, but with only subtle patterns unlike her monochromatic suits in season 1. Speaking of suits, they're nowhere to be found, another hint of her efforts at conformity. Her necklaces and extravagant jewelry pieces, proudly displayed in season 2 and tied to her heritage like the Black Madonna, are notably absent. While she still looks stunning, the personality once presented in her style is gone. It's also particularly incredible to note the method of taking a knife to the painting and the fact that she runs up to it barefoot. It echoes the Polly we've seen in previous and future seasons with her blades, and how "Young she is, when she's barefoot on the cobbles". It screams of how this is her taking back her old self, her true self, destroying what she thought she could be and being devastated by the reality, reluctantly yet instinctively embracing it.
