10 and 11 for Kai!
What do they do outside of work?
kai is a pretty sociable guy who likes to frequent bars/taverns, and do a lot of window shopping for things he can't afford in rata sum. he's got a number of friends and gets invited to hang out pretty often, although he primarily hangs out with his coworker-partner Daizz who is also his Best Bud outside of work. he also cares pretty heavily about his fitness and appearance, and works out + trains a lot!
What are/were their long-term goals in regards to being a part of the Inquest? Becoming an Overseer? Performing an otherwise banned experiment? Or just surviving?
his goal is simply to earn enough to pay off his debt LOL but as he's gotten Into It, he sort of wants to be promoted to a senior enforcer like daizz is (rn he's just a normal enforcer but with a higher than usual clearance/sort of recommendation level), and it's more of an overlapping personal goal but he wants to keep honing his combat & spellbreaker skills

Inquest (or former Inquest) ask game 🐀
For our more morally dubious little rats (feel free to swap is with was for former members)
What is their title and what are their responsibilities?
How well do they get along with their coworkers and superiors?
How and why did they join in the first place?
What would the final straw that would convince them to (attempt to) leave?
How do they feel about the morally questionable goings-on in the Inquest?
What would they be doing if they had never joined?
Assuming they had the necessary approval, what experiment or project would they work on?
How valuable (/replaceable) of an employee are they?
Current Inquest agents: Their least favorite aspect of their job. Former agents: Parts they miss.
What do they do outside of work?
What are/were their long-term goals in regards to being a part of the Inquest? Becoming an Overseer? Performing an otherwise banned experiment? Or just surviving?
How do they feel about the Commander and the whole Elder Dragon thing?

for the ask game, for Gunner; 3, 6, 9, 11?
putting under a cut since this one is long!
How and why did they join in the first place?
gunner is originally a rata novan who experienced a Massive Ordeal when he got flung into the mists via a damaged portal, and then lost his father in the mists in the process, and all of his research is sort of underpinned by the need to 1. make sense of it 2. find his dad. the inquest is the only force that really lets him get his hands on the tools to perform radical mists related experiments and then allow them to do it, so into the inquest he went
What would they be doing if they had never joined?
similar to plex, it's hard to imagine this character lacking the desperate motive & drive that spurred him on to join the inquest in the first place. i think he would've attempted to go at things from a purely synergetics angle potentially with a krewe of his own for a long while, but even then eventually become frustrated and potentially join the consortium. which isn't better tbh. in an AU where he's an absolute goodboy he might end up enlisting in the priory.
Former agents: Parts they miss.
📣 HE WANTS HIS EQUIPMENT BACK
What are/were their long-term goals in regards to being a part of the Inquest? Becoming an Overseer? Performing an otherwise banned experiment? Or just surviving?
the interior of the mists was the most incredible and horrifying thing he ever has and ever will witness, like being strapped into omadd's machine for 130 years and physically getting lost in the sort of eldritch chaos magic maze in there, and it spat him out as what i can only describe as a Mad Physicist.
he wants not just to Study the mists but to actively rip it apart, name, describe, measure, and quantify all of its' entrails. it drives him bonkers. he joined the inquest because churning through theory debates with other synergetics majors wasn't enough. he had to build that big super-collider they've got in spiderverse.

Inquest rattos ask!
Plex~ #4 and #6 Kai~ #3 and #9
answered 4 for plex in the one i just posted !! :D
What would they be doing if they had never joined?
TOUGH QUESTION.. but frankly i think.... plex would basically just be doing the same thing he is now, except not in the inquest lmao. he'd just find some other sort of krewe that needed tech support so he could have a job. even though the inquest has definitely been.. uh.. harrowing for him, i think he'd actually be a bit More depressed than he is now, if only because being in the inquest correlates with him having a Personal Goal to work on (tracking down his dad..) and he's also met-- for better or worse-- interesting people in it who have given his life some excitement.
plex has a great inner need to track down his father and some of the huge personal mysteries that overshadow his life, and that motivation is Why he joined the inquest to begin with, so even though he's a "worse person" for having joined it, imagining a universe where he doesn't have that inner drive to begin with is kind of rough. he'd stagnate and just be a permanently anhedonic min wage guy forever i think (as opposed to a permanently anxious min wage guy!)
-------------------------------
How and why did they join in the first place?
ahaha. oh man. kai is a massive idiot who got into a staggering amount of gambling debt to the very, very shady owner of a rata suman casino, and simultaneously pissed off his father who refused to bail him out, and so despite being reared as a spoiled little nepo baby who almost had it good in the consortium, he got hardcore kicked out and forced to learn the cost of milk. he happens to not be good at thinking but VERY good at punching, and the inquest is ALWAYS hiring + close to where he lives, sooooo
Current Inquest agents: Their least favorite aspect of their job.
well. technically it's having to work with other people who Aren't fellow enforcers-- his feelings about this vary heavily depending on what lab he's been assigned to (he's been transferred a lot), but he has a general disdain for any inquest officer or scientist who's a bit too big for their britches and seems to have an overt need to be the biggest most serious importantest scary guy in the room. cannot stand that type. he'd like to be able to be in the background behind them making little :V :| :V motions with his hand whenever they talk, if only that doesn't risk getting bopped with a magitech stun baton.
on the Down Low, he does still have a shred of his humanity (asuranity?) left, and he does not generally Prefer when enforcer duties require doing things like restraining test subjects, particularly the asuran kind. he's become good at stuffing down his feelings, and he'll do it, but he'd simply rather be off fighting beasties, intruders, or chasing around arcane eye agents like tom & jerry.

4 and 8 for Plex!!
What would the final straw that would convince them to (attempt to) leave?
ah man.. plex is pretty Entrenched is the thing. i think either his dad re-appearing and personally pulling him out (probably by force tbh), his best bud haffa (who is the scientist he very Technically works under) deciding to leave, or his lab's director managing to scare the bejesus out of him bad enough that he simply decides 2 go into hiding LMFAO
How valuable (/replaceable) of an employee are they?
Haha. Lol. Ha Ha. i think plex has.. is it twice now...? maybe three times?? already been threatened with getting replaced/terminated/forcibly reassigned to another project (or to uh, the grave) for being generally sort of nosy or disruptive. he's very much a replaceable ACME codemonkey-- he's really talented for sure and is starting to grow more Now but generally speaking he's just been bounced around between labs and projects constantly because he's just kind of seen as a completely interchangeable object to shuffle around

Um, so guys. We got this item lately, right?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Invisible_Cat_Cape
I ripped another outfit on my boy today, I usually do that in EotN (the one you teleport to via the EotN stone to claim your GW1 rewards). And today, at my character's feet I found this:
Tumblr media
And so it happens my character wears this cape at the moment.
My guess is, invisible item can't just be an invisible item per se, it has to be an object to attach the data to, and well, I think this is it :D It's literally a mesh of a cat probably sitting on your back, that is 100% invisible.

i've been getting heavily back into gw2 RP lately and i've noticed an increasing amount of gw2 rp events popping up, so i wanna give some unsolicited advice that has helped me grow as a roleplayer + have More Fun roleplaying, in the hopes it helps spark that in other folks too:
1 - follow the "yes, and" rule of improv! RP is all improv! "yes, and" basically means accepting/listening to what your improv partner has said, and then building on it. in a roleplay setting, this can mean having yourself + your character consider and internalize what the other person has said, and then building off of it with their own dialogue/reaction/proposal/etc. it does not mean agreeing with the other character, it means trying to not let the scene die right there even if your character would ordinarily do something like just walk off or ignore the other person.
you sometimes have to force your character to be ever-so-slightly ooc in order to do "yes, and", but it is SUPER worth it. RP is often like you and your partner laying out a series of little tom and jerry mousetraps full of lore and character development and conflict for the other person to step in. try ur best to both step in them and also keep laying them out for the other person, and you will have fun!
2 - fully allow your character to be stupid, embarrassing, make incorrect assumptions, get into trouble, get in over their head, be outmatched, have too much confidence, bite off more than they can chew, and generally fail at things. you can still have a "cool" character in spite of all of these things-- but failure can be fun, and helps make interactions more realistic
2a - relatedly, at all costs, avoid seeing RP as a 'game' that can be 'won' by either character or player. this one should be obvious, but a lot of people behave like this reflexively especially if they're worried about the 'coolness' or 'power level' of their character becoming compromised, so it's good to be aware of. this can kill people's desire to RP with you very very quickly
3 - be aware that your character will, or should!!, grow and change over time as you write and rp them more. if you're sitting there thinking through your next emote and you get a wild idea in your head, or you look at what you just hit enter on and thought "wow, they're acting kind of different, is this too OOC"... consider for a second if it's just a new, unexpected Thing about your character surfacing due to the rp! seeing your little brain guy evolve from a couple paragraph backstory pitch into a fully fleshed out person full of surprises is part of the fun! embrace it! ...and if it IS too much, you can always try to fix it in future rps haha
4 - last, but not least... COMMUNICATE! get to know your partner and their visions for their characters, and their inspirations, the types of stories they like, and so on. make sure you have a firm idea of the sorts of boundaries you want to lay out in your RP-- are either of you cool with injuries, your characters knowing secret backstory details about each other, romance/flirting, lore bending/breaking, and so on! don't be afraid to ask them in party chat before you hit send on something if it feels like it pushes a line, and absolutely bring up any cool ideas you get, too!
