Decided to add these creatures to one of my stories, which means stepping away from Alien and more towards mech/industrial. I don’t draw mech so this is all new to me (I even made an “engines” board on Pinterest just for this…). Anyways, the general idea is all of these creatures are pretty much the same, but they’re “customized” with machine parts to fulfill duties that machines (trucks, etc) do in our world. I’m trying to stick to ungulates for the animal/organic part (deer, antelope, goats, etc). And the more wacky the idea, the better! No realism in this story, the main cast are talking magical animals (“unicorns”) after all.

Coloured version vs sketch vs original idea

I had no idea what to do for colour/pattern. Spots were a big mistake though, the marker tip was too big to do them properly so its super messy. Oh well, live and learn. Its a small illustration, so it looks cute if you don't look at it closely lol. Happy to be drawing more octopuses again.
