Fixed the emulsion problem on the screens and made my screens.

Since I missed one class, I worked my butt off to finish but there are so many people who aren’t done. 

Here are a few lessons that I’ve learned:

1.) Bad emulsion and dirty screens suck.

2.) Aligning each color is really important when it comes to this project

3.) CMYK prints are pretty intersting and fun to do

Found the image I want to use for this project and turned it into 4 channel transparency. 

I successfully made one screen but the emulsion on  the other screen decided to die on me. I’ll need to redo the emulsion and do the exposure again.

Currently I’m making a pretty good progress and im happy about it.

In class, Erwin showed his amazing CMYK screen prints and we tabbed our paper to get started. 

I need to bring in my image to turn it into a 4 channel CMYK and make the transparencies.  

So far so good...

Such a late post about this but this was our presentation day.

It always amazes when people come in with their work when I rarely see them work on them (LOL)  

Even though I ended up flipping my images, everything was great.

AVT 346/419 Digital Printmaking Project #1 - WHAT IF? 4 Layer Print with a Structure Part 5

Screen printing began today!  For a weird reason, the image on the screen didn’t line up with my box cut out. 

I had to tape one side of the image and print it two separate times. It was a struggle but I’ve learned little bit more about the screen. 

After folding everything and putting it together, I’ve noticed that the image and the text is reversed.

I figured out why my image was reversed. When the transparancy was being expoesed tho the screen, the transparancy was reversed!! 

Kind of too late to fix it now but at least I’m learning from my mistakes... Next time.

AVT 346/419 Digital Printmaking Project #1 - WHAT IF? 4 Layer Print with a Structure Part 4 After successfully (kinda) getting my design made up, I made the transparency print.  I exposed my screen with the UV lights and washed the screen to let it dry for printing. Up next, screen printing.

AVT 346/419 Digital Printmaking  Project #1 - WHAT IF?  4 Layer Print with a Structure Part 3 Today we learned how to make our own paper and it was quite interesting. It felt like one of the activities that I did as a kid. (Not Pictured) the struggle of coming up with the Vincent Van Gogh x Keith Haring idea on the computer continues.

More brainstorming happened today.  As for the sci-fi idea, I came up with the idea of what if Vincent Van Gogh was still alive and had a collaborated artwork with Keith Haring. 

I ended up buying some neutrally toned cardstock to work on this project.
