Paul x Reader: Thanksgiving
Warning: Child Protective Services (CPS) and Adult Protective Services (APS) involvement mentioned. Death of elderly, and implication of abuse and neglect are written
Takes place LONG after the war with the Volturi; Renesmee is 16 and Jake JUST imprinted on her. Not when she was a baby. Let’s just act like Bella didn’t almost die when she had her and they just moved away until recently, okay? Cool.
Also like I said before, all the imprints are the same age as the guys. No pedophilia bs is EVER in my stories.
***
I met Leah in my Sophomore year at Washington State. I was going into Development and Family Structure whereas she was going in to be an RN like her mother. We met in a Health and Sex class that was considered as an elective course. Because we had to travel across campus to make it to this class, we always ended up sitting in the back of the class together. Eventually creating a friendship that you’d rarely see develop and stick together. Now, we’re Juniors and I am currently packing to head to La Push with her and her boyfriend Lajohn for Thanksgiving since I didn’t have a family.
I was lucky if I’m honest. I was given to the state at 12 after CPS finally indicated that my parents weren’t fit to take care of me and my grandmother. Unfortunately, it took the death of my grandmother for anyone to do anything. Although I was given to the state at 12, I didn’t leave until I was 18. The likelihood of getting adopted after 10 is slim. I was happy for those who did, but it hurt to see some of them come back. You realize through others that just because the idea of parenting is wonderful, being a parent is completely different. I was lucky enough to take advantage of resources that were provided for me and some of the other kids that lead me to this point.
I got my first job at 16 and worked from then onward. I applied to college and financial aid as fast as I was able to so that I wouldn’t be alone. I receive enough grants and scholarships for my associates and now working on my bachelor's. My previous roommates were, well, trash; which motivated me to get a job and move into the nearby apartments. My roommates now are chill, we all just don’t talk to one another. Which lead me back to this moment at my apartment.
“I don’t know what to wear!” I said looking in my closet for a perfect outfit to bring to Thanksgiving.
“I don’t know why you’re stressing about it. I told you, no one is going to care. But, if you’re that worried, wear the ripped jeans and the black off the shoulder sweater shirt. Oh! And the booties!” Leah said going through my closet. Even though she says and acts like she doesn’t care about fashion and appearance, I know deep down in the pits of hell that we call her soul, that she really and truly still doesn’t, but she has a soft spot for it.
“Thank you! Oh, and I’m mad at you, you bitch.” I said packing up the outfit.
“What, why?”
“You got your eyebrows done without me! You see mine looking like Chewbacca over here!”
“I’d say more like baby Chewbacca…”
“That’s not the point!”
“Sorry, look, it should be around 12:30 or 1 by the time we get to Seattle, we’ll stop there. I promise.” She says smiling while hugging me. Bitch.
“Fine. Now let’s go before Lajohn comes up here like a brat crying.” We laugh and start heading towards the door. We have a long seven and a half hours to get to La Push. Let’s see how this goes.
~
We stop to get something to eat, fill up, and get my eyebrows done. Lajohn took that time to fall asleep in the car because knowing us, we’d get sidetracked and find some shit for everyone. But we resisted! Mainly because our paychecks don’t come in until next week and I’m barking on this dinner and the leftovers (if there is any based on what Leah tells me about her brothers) to last me until then.
 Paul’s POV
“Alright guys, now Leah is bringing her friend Y/n. can we please not repeat what happened when she brought Lajohn over to meet us.” Sam said, looking directly at Quil, Collin, and me.
“I swear I didn’t start it!” Collin tried to defend himself.
“It doesn’t matter who did or didn’t start it! We can’t have y/g knowing what we are. Lajohn is Leah’s imprint, she’s just her friend. Got it!” Jacob stated. I rolled my eyes but said nothing. I won’t lie though, I haven’t seen someone run as fast as he did, especially when he is almost as big as us and just as human as the next person.
“We won’t, I promise. Scouts honor.” Making a joke about this situation.
“You weren’t in boy-scouts Paul,” Jared said.
“That’s beside the point. Look, we’re not going to do anything to out us again.” I said with a smile. Not one person believed a damn thing I said, hell I don’t think I did either. But it’s worth a shot.
“Well now that we have that settled, we have to meet up with the Cullen’s. There’s going to be some unwelcome visitors stopping by in a few days, and the last thing we need is to deal with this on Thanksgiving.” Jacob said. We all got up and begrudgingly met up with the leeches. Can’t they give us a break?
Y/n POV
We pull up to this cozy small house with a swing set on the porch. A lady who I’ve seen in Leah’s room steps out of the house to greet us. I can positively assume she’s Leah’s mom.
“Lajohn! How are you!” She says, ready to embrace the giant man twice her size. Compared to Ms. Clearwater, he was a good foot and a half above her. Compared to Leah, a half a foot maybe. He was “6’7”, black hair in a fade, soft brown eyes, mocha skin, slim yet buff, and a complete gentle giant. He and Leah met in their anatomy class. She said she walked into class late after getting lost and the only seat available was in the front. The bad news was, she had one of those teachers who was a stickler and a petty asshole. He made it hell for her. The good news was, she met Lajohn who was good at the class and had no problem tutoring her. It was “Love at first sight” for both of them.
“Sounds like some hallmark bullshit. Let me guess, it was raining, you were soaking wet, and by the end of class he gave you his jacket and you looked into each other eyes and BAM! Instant connection.” I laughed. She rolled her eyes and smiled.
“Yeah, yeah, shut up Bunny. One day, it’ll happen to you. $20 says it will”
“What, falling in love or love at first constipation?” she gives me a look, and I just smile.
“Love you too Leah-bird” I laugh.
I snap back to reality to Leah joking around with another person coming out of the house. He looked just as big as Lajohn but resembled Leah and her mom. I can assume this was Seth. I step out and walk over to everyone as Lajohn goes to the car to get our luggage.
“Mom, this is my best friend-”
“Holy shit, Leah can make friends!?” Said the babyface giant.
“Will you shut up Seth! Yes, I can. Can you get a girlfriend? No, you can’t. So, hush.”
“Ouch Leah. That hurt.” He says folding his arms over his heart and rolling his eyes with a sad look on his face. I just want to make him cookies and tell him its okay.
“Anyways, this is my best friend Y/n. Y/n/n, this my mother Sue and my annoying-”
“Yet handsome.”
“-Little brother, Seth.” She says, ignoring him completely.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you guys. I’ve seen pictures of you guys back at Leah’s apartment and she talks about home all the time.”
“It's nice to meet you too Y/n. Come on in and let the guys get your stuff.”
“Yeah, Seth, chop-chop little puppy,” Leah says clapping her hands to rush him. He just looks at her and gives her the finger when their mom isn’t looking and walks towards the back of the car. I can hear him and Lajohn talking about some pack of cold ones. I don’t think Seth is old enough to drink…
The next day: Thanksgiving
For the rest of yesterday evening, Leah and Ms. Sue (who keeps on insisting I drop the Ms. Part; I will not, my grandmother taught me to always say Mr., Ms., and Mrs.,) showed me around town and I was able to meet Emily and Sam, and Jacob and Billy. They seemed welcoming. Emily especially, although, Sam, Jacob, and Billy seemed on edge with me. I told that to Leah and she reassured me that their faces and attitudes are always like that with everyone. Lajohn eased my worrying saying they were worse with him because he was dating Leah. He was more scared of Seth and their mom out of everyone though.
Currently, Leah, Ms. Sue, Lajohn, and I are on our way to Emily and Sam’s place. When we pull up, we’re greeted by her and a few other girls from the reservation. We walk up and I’m automatically hugged by this small “5’8” girl with wild layered hair with streaks of color in it.
“Hey everyone! Y/n, this is my niece Clair. Sorry, she just gets excited about meeting new people. And this is Halulah and Kim, Embry and Jared’s girlfriends. Come one inside, the guys will be back in an hour or so. That should give us enough time to finish the turkey and dessert.” I waved at them and we all went inside. That time was short-lived until we heard wolves howling in the distance and Sam and Lajohn were out the door. I was about to ask what that was about but was cut off by Leah shoving plates in my hands to set up the table.
A little while later, we hear laughter and thumping of footsteps coming from the front door.
“HONEY I’M HOME! Ouch! Jared! What was that for?!” one voice said.
“For being a dumbass, that’s why.” I assume is Jared’s voice.
“Language!” said Seth followed by a loud punch and a yelp from him.
“Ouch, damnit Paul! That hurt!” said Seth.
“LaNgUaGe!” said, who I can assume is Paul with a bolstering laugh. Emily rolled her eyes and looked at Sam, who looked at them before they turned the corner. A choir of “sorry” and “my bad” was said before they showed themselves.
“Y/n, I’d like you to meet my children for all intended purposes. The boy who is giving Clair a piggyback ride to is Quil; the boy hugging Halulah is Embry—the one I told you about. This is Jared, Kim’s—godforsaken—boyfriend.”
“Hey! I’m not that bad!” she ignores him.
“Jake should be here with his girlfriend Nessie in a little bit, and the one behind us thinking I CAN’T SEE HIM STEALING THE TURKEY! Is Paul.” I looked behind her and catch a red-handed guilty-looking, Paul.
“Hey, at least I tri-” he stops mid-sentence as our eyes connect. I felt like I was in my apartment room reaching cloud 9. Everything around me blurred and all I saw was him. I felt my heart skip a beat and was knocked the air out of me. I couldn’t move, didn’t hear a sound, and kind of dizzy. I snap back when I hear laughter.
“Aww! Bunny! See! I told you it would happen!” Leah says laughing. I look at her confused then looked back at everyone else who was laughing too. Paul coughed and I looked at him. His expression went from being shocked, angry, sad, then content and surprised. He looked at Sam then walked over to me. Standing in front of me, he smiles and introduces himself.
“Hey, I’m Paul. What’s your name beautiful?” Damn, I guess I owe Leah $20.

it’s really not that fair
Part four of this bullshit. Here we go.
Bella worries at her bottom lip with her teeth and taps her pencil on the hard plastic desk. A few of her classmates glare at her and she knows she’s being annoying, but it’s Friday, and that means Leah’s picking her up from school.
That is, if the damn clock will ever move.
It’s a little ridiculous, how much Bella misses her. She’d snuck into Bella’s room the night before (just like she had every night since the imprint) and woken her up with a soft kiss before she left this morning, so it’s been at most, like, nine hours. But it still feels like a little part of Bella is missing, and there’s a tug in her chest that goes towards LaPush, towards Leah.
From what the pack can tell, Victoria’s backed off since she realized Bella was under their protection. This suits Bella just fine, because she has enough on her plate, what with graduation coming up, with the imprint, with Leah. She’s just glad she already has her college situation figured out.
Neither Charlie nor Renee were thrilled with her decision to take classes online, but it’s for the best. Her GPA suffered a major hit when she was so depressed, after all, and most places she could have applied to were already closed to applications when she was suddenly reminded of her steadily approaching graduation date a few weeks ago. Her other reason, which had gone unspoken to her parents, is Leah.
Bella knows it’s generally a bad idea to base one’s college decisions around their significant other, but the imprint complicates things. She’s sure she could go away, but it would be painful, both for her and for Leah. And there’s no way Leah could come with her due to tribal issues; her status as a protector to the tribe overrules any other obligations she has. Sam could let her go, but he’s not in any position to go against Old Quil and Billy.
So Leah has to stay. And so Bella will, too.
The bell finally, finally rings, and Bella gathers up her books and shoves them in her backpack as quickly as she can. Her body thrums, and she knows it’s because Leah is in the parking lot, waiting for her.
In the desk next to her, Angela laughs. “What’re you in such a rush for, Bella?” she asks, a teasing note in her voice. “You got a hot date or something?”
Bella freezes.
It wouldn’t be a lie to say no--Bella can’t imagine anyone calling a pack dinner a hot date, unless their idea of a hot date is holding hands with their significant other while half a dozen half naked teenage boys inhale food like they’re never going to eat again.
But on the other hand, she can’t say the whole thing isn’t romantic. This past week, Bella felt like she was dying the longer she spent away from Leah. Leah is like oxygen, like a cool drink of water on a brutal Phoenix day, like coming home. At no point will Leah ever not be the most important part of her life. Not anymore.
But how can she express that to Angela? Bella hardly understands the intense connection afforded by the imprint herself. And with the added... everything surrounding same sex relationships...
Yeah. No. Bella’s not ready to tackle that yet.
So she gives Angela a smile she hopes isn’t too tight around the edges and says, “That’s a secret.”
*
While she wants nothing more than to run into Leah’s arms when she sees her leaning against her red truck, Bella, mindful of her schoolmates’ stares, settles for a faster-than-normal walk and a hug that’s just a tad too long to be platonic. She feels and hears Leah taking a deep inhale of her hair. Bella can’t imagine how hard this time apart has been for her--from what she can tell, the imprint is a stronger pull for the wolf.
“Hey,” Bella says when they separate.
“Hey,” Leah replies. She hoists Bella’s backpack onto her own shoulder and holds her hand out for Bella’s keys. “Do you need to go home before we go to the Rez?”
Bella hands over the keys and nods. “I wanna drop off my books and grab some extra clothes.” At Leah’s arched eyebrow, she flushes and adds, “I-in case I’m too tired to drive home!”
“Sure, sure,” Leah says, unapologetically stealing Jake’s catchphrase.
They climb into the cab of the truck, and they don’t touch again until they’re a mile away from the school.
Bella’s heart aches.
*
It’s easier at LaPush.
There, everyone knows about them. There’s no pretenses, no excuses, no hiding. It’s just Leah and Bella, and they’re together, and no one minds, just like no one minds Sam and Emily, or Jared and Kim.
After the ravenous pack dinner, everyone retires to Emily’s living room, and Bella once again ends up perched in Leah’s lap, and she relaxes against her shoulder while the pack talks shop. Emily and Sam are sharing the big living chair Sam usually occupies, fingers intertwined, and Kim is sitting cross-legged on the floor with Jared’s head in her lap. It’s a testament to the power of the imprint that none of the other guys comment on the couples’ obvious closeness. With any other group of friends, Bella thinks, there’d be immediate teasing.
After a confirmation that Victoria hasn’t been seen around the Rez either, things become much less formal. Emily whips up a new muffin recipe for Bella and Kim to try, “because the pack will eat anything, I can’t trust their opinion on my food, I need an outsider’s voice.” The pack takes advantage of the semi-warm day and starts roughhousing outside, shouting and tackling and just having fun. It warms Bella’s heart to see Leah and Sam being so friendly with each other now, without the pain of Sam’s imprint lingering over them.
“I wish it could always be like this,” Bella says around a mouthful of cranberry orange muffin. It’s delicious, of course. Bella can cook, sure, but Emily’s the expert baker around here. “No teenage angst, no Victoria hanging over us, no hiding...”
“Hiding?”
Bella blushes when she realizes she’s spoken aloud. “Uh...”
“No, no,” Kim says, persisting. “What do you mean, hiding?”
“It’s just...” Bella has to pause for a second, and takes another bite of her muffin to stall. “I don’t know how to explain what I have with Leah to the people in Forks. So I figure, hey, maybe I’ll just let them think we’re good friends, but then Charlie will say something like, ‘I’m so glad you have a friend like Leah,’ or my friends at school will tease me about dating, and I just wanna scream, you know?”
Emily makes a comforting sound in the back of her throat and lays a hand on Bella’s shoulder. “I can’t imagine how hard that must be for you. Like living a double life, right?”
“Yeah.”
Kim leans up against Bella’s shoulder in a show of sisterly support. Because that’s what she and Emily are--Bella’s sisters. Not like Alice, who wanted to use Bella as a living dress up doll, or Rosalie, who seemed to hate the fact that she even existed, but actual, genuine love. In being imprinted on by Leah, she got not only her soulmate, but an entire family of support.
“Buck up, Bella,” Kim says, giving her arm a little hug. “Things’ll get better when you move out here.”
“What?” Move out here? Bella didn’t realize that was part of her future plans already.
Kim cocks her head. “Aren’t you, though? Leah says you’re just taking online classes, so there’s no school commute to think about. And as far as the council is concerned, you being an imprint makes you pack, and being pack means you’re tribe. You have every right to live here.”
“Kim,” says Emily, a warning on her tongue, but Bella cuts her off.
“It’s fine, Em. It’s just not something I’ve thought too much about, is all.”
Her eyes seek out Leah in the dog pile of pack, and when she sees Leah’s smile, everything seems okay.
*
“What was bothering you earlier?” Leah asks, later, when they’re lying in Leah’s bed with their legs tangled together.
Bella starts. “You knew?”
“I wasn’t trying to listen, but I could tell you were upset.” One of her hands comes up to comb through Bella’s hair. “Talk to me.”
Bella sighs and snuggles closer to Bella’s reassuring heat. “I don’t like having to pretend we’re not together when I’m not on the Rez,” she says, voice soft. It’s harder to say this to Leah than it was to Emily and Kim earlier. “I hate it whenever someone calls you my friend, because you’re so much more than that, and I want to tell everyone how much you mean to me, but I have no idea how to.”
Leah grunts. “I wish I could make it better for you.”
“Not your fault.” Bella yawns. “When I told Kim and Emily earlier, Kim said I should just move to the Rez after I graduate.”
Bella feels Leah’s whole body stiffen. “Really?” She’s trying to sound nonchalant, but Bella can hear the excitement in her voice.
“Really.” She reaches up to stroke her thumb along Leah’s cheekbone. “Is that... something you’d like?”
“Absolutely,” Leah says, with no hesitation, not even a little bit. Her lips, chapped and warm, press against Bella’s forehead. “I want you forever. I want your good mornings and your good nights. I want your bedhead and your morning breath, and I want your hair clogging up the drains, and I want to hear you humming in the kitchen while you cook and see you biting you lip while you read before bed. I want everything, Bella. Everything you’re willing to give me.”
Bella feels her eyes grow warm. It’s ridiculous, she thinks, that after less than a week of dating she feels ready to commit. But she wants. She wants so badly to be Leah’s forever, for Leah to be hers.
“I’m willing,” she says, not even embarrassed at the way her voice cracks with emotion, “to give you forever, if you promise me the same.”
And so they talk, long into the night, about a little house by the cliffs, of a built-in bookshelf in the bedroom by Bella’s side of the bed and a kitchen with an island and a big living room so the pack can come over, and they don’t fall asleep until the sun is peeking over the horizon.
“One day,” Bella says, just before she drifts off, “I’ll be able to tell the whole world, ‘I love Leah Clearwater,’ and no one will be able to do anything about it.”
Sleep claims her before she feels Leah go stiff, and before she realizes that this is the first time she’s spoken about love.
Before she can hear Leah say, “I love you, too.”

To see the Future
How does Alice Brandon (Cullen)'s power work, re: shapwshifters ('werewolves')?
I know I still gotta make a whole ass post about prophecies and reading the future in the lucyverse and the multiverse in general, and I will get to that, but for now ffr Alice's power is an action- or decision- based low-range propheceutic power boosted by her vampirism.
In twilight canon, Alice can see humans and vampires, humans because she used to be one and vampires because she is one now. I believe it is also mentioned that she can see her family members better than others. She cannot see shifters at all.
Can she see her family best because she is physically closer to them more often? Because she has looked at their future more often already and is more attuned to their mental or magical signature? Because she knows them best and so can help (subconsciously?) filter out which futures make more sense for them- as a low level prophet, she still sees many (more than the amount future offspring universes) different versions of the future after all? I believe the latter as well as the second idea are plausible, possible a combination, I haven't quite decided yet what makes more sense.
Now to the shifters. She can't see them- why? How? And how does it affect the rest of her powers?
For the first part- is it simply because they are 'other' that she hasn't been yet? Is she also unable to see any other siyee species? Or is it an inherent defence mecianism by the wolves against the 'Cold Ones'? Is it their DNA, or triggered when they first shift? Can she see them again when they stop shifting? I don't really have answers to these yet.
And how does it affect the rest of her powers? Now, I could probably go back to the twilight books to look up circumstancial evidence of how it is supposed to work in canon, but-nah. Instead, my own theses:
1. She can literally not see any scenes the shifters are in, but it is just that protective bubble around the scene if she is actually trying to look at it- it doesn't influence how she sees the rest of the future.
Why do I even have to discuss this? Well, how's that saying about if a butterfly flies in one part of the world, there'll be a storm... Wherever... U know what I mean xD the wolves' actions directly influence their environment which even if the people Alice is looking for aren't directly around the wolves, there are still effects of effects of effects ... to be considered... Which brings me to
2. Alice can not 'see' anything related to the shifters at all, meaning that the future she sees is a fictional one that doesn't have the shifters in it anywhere in the world at all.
I tend to prefer #2 because while I suppose magically possible, #1 just doesn't seem to make much sense to me? It's so needlessly complicated. And I do like a good everything-has-consequences-and-is-connected-to-everything the way it is emphasized in #2.
Actually, did remember a piece of canon now: the one where she sees Bella die in New Moon, and I've gotta say- what's going on here is... Contradictory to say the least, at least if we're looking at my two theories. The fact that she does see Bella jump off the cliff at all- which she wouldn't have done without going to the reservation with Jacob or him telling her about it- means that it can't be #2... No, wait, it can be #2 if she really only sees it happening when Bella is already past all that learning about it because of the shifters and ready to jump off the cliff by herself (I have no idea how that is in canon It's Been A While). Alright so it's probably #2 which is my fav anyway, yay! Because #1 really is out because she sees Bella die- if the fictional future she sees only blacked out the spots with shifters in it but wasn't otherwise influenced, she would just blank on the scene of Jake saving Bella but show her alive afterwards, given that, you know, she wasn't gonna die.

do you ship edward and bella, why or why not? now, do you prefer edward and bella or jacob and bella?
this is a cool mssg thanks anon!!! tbh i’ve experienced varying degrees of obsession w twilight since i was like 11 years old so i’ve definitely been on both teams @ some point. i remember being obsessed with edward and bella at first and then jumping on the jacob and bella train when new moon came out and i’ve got a jacob bag and a team edward hoodie so.. i’ve had the Full Twilight experience, basically. i’ve been Around.
full disclosure: i haven’t read the books in yeaaars so this is mostly based off the movies (i actually started rereading twilight today @ the police station while i was waiting 2 pick up my work card because i am a mess and why read new books when i could roll around in all of my trashy faves.)
i do ship edward and bella, but in a different way than i did when i was younger.
11 year old me was so charmed by the ~romance (what i perceived as romance anyway) of it all, the very typical soulmate i’ll-can’t-live-without-you stuff. older!me understands how fucked up this relationship is and can recognize the flaws in how romanticized it was and how passively bella was written. i get that it’s unhealthy and terrible and not a happy ending anyway you look at it and ultimately couldn’t care less about them being soulmates or destined for each other or whatever. that’s boring to me. i’m over it. yawn.
but i do care about edward and bella being mirrors of each other, each isolated and depressed and misunderstood. i love how weird they both are and how hard it is for them to connect with other people, even the people they love. each of them is so .. odd and it’s so charming to me lmao (it’s the fluorescents bella!!). loners in love!!! nerds in love!!! shakespeare hoes!! i love how utterly unprepared they are to meet someone who sees them and how neither of them know what to do about it. as annoying as it can be to read/watch, i love how ridiculously dramatic they are about the other and that they put the other on a pedestal so high it couldn’t be reached by plane let alone by ladder.
the fact that with edward comes a family full of people who love bella and would protect bella with their lives is of critical importance to me; bella has spent her entire life so isolated and then she meets the cullens!!!!! and barring rosalie, they’re all so charmed with her!!! they love and accept her instantly and i looooove ships that provide the support systems their partners desperately need, not just by providing a significant other but in sharing their familial unit with them. this family is so so fucking important to bella and for once in her life people are taking care of her instead of the other way around and it just!!! gets to me!! i love that she falls in with the group of pale sparkly loner weirdo outcasts.. because of course she does, because of course these are the people bella can relate to, and of course it means everything.
it’s awful, it’s messy, they need serious therapy, but they love each other and in a more realistic story, it would get them killed but i love watching them be dumbos about each other. i find their infatuation with each other a lil dry, but whatever they’re good kiddos @ heart and they can be ridiculous if they want. it helps that rob and kstew have loads of chem and all of the twilight movies are very pretty and i am weak as can be (honestly my affection for edward is very much linked to the fact that i find rob to be oddly charming aesthetically). so much of it is def prompted by plain old nostalgia, too. when i was a little watching them look @ each other with googoo eyes brought me a lot of excitement and i don’t believe in pushing that feeling away just bc i’m old enough to recognize the flaws and general messiness.
as for the second question… jacob is .. my absolute son whom i love w all of my heart and have added 2 this blog out of both love and outrage @ how dirty smeyer did him so i’d say i’m partial to jacob. i do have feelings ab edward from time to time but jake….is so good and he deserved so much better and i… love my baby soooo much. new moon is probably my favorite movie because of the first half and that is largely because of his presence in it.
i’m inclined to ship bella/jacob more because of this, yeah, but mostly because i am so very into best friends falling in love and couples who are best friends first and foremost, who experience the kind of comfort and safety and security around each other that is specific to best friends. there’s a playfulness there that isn’t there with edward and i love how happiness is a– the– theme for their relationship, that all jake cares about is helping bella find a way to be happy again and how essential he is to her recovery. they have such a special connection and can reach each other in ways no one else can and i just oh boy.
i love how easy it is for them to be together, how jacob is the first and arguably only human bella connects to and how much happiness he brings into her life. that, unlike with edward, she doesn’t constantly feel inferior to him and like she needs to compensate– that jake makes her feel more comfortable with herself and that the fact that he just beams love at her leaves little room for self consciousness. that he is normalcy and human goodness and light and a tether and bridge to a world bella has never felt apart of. that he quite literally keeps her warm. that he was her only safe harbor during the worst period of her life and that she would have ran away with him to keep him safe (would have done anything to keep him safe.)
i love that they share a lot of similarities, too, both being caretakers who care for their parents, and have all of this history from their childhood. i love that charlie loves jake as if he were his own son and that the pack eagerly accepts bella into the fold and tries to protect her from the beginning and could have been as much her family as the cullens are and that bella knows in her heart would have been if they lived in a world without the magic. he!! handmade!!! her!! a bracelet!! with!! a!! wolf!! on it!!! he!!! did!!! that!!! he!! gave!! her!! a!! dreamcatcher!! to help with her nightmares!! tragedy tragedy tragedy ya know. so much sadness so much sadness.
i hate so much about how jake was characterized new moon on because so much of it was grossly out of character, but she wouldn’t have had to change for him and it would have been as easy as breathing for them and god what a gut punch that is. what a gut punch it is that bella would have been happy in that world, and that it ultimately changes nothing because vampires and awful unhealthy abusive relationships are a thing that exist and people suck @ wanting what we need. and because i am a sucker for pain, all of this agony is a serious selling point for me.
in summary: yeah i ship everything because i’m me (including bella with all the ladies in the series, girl is the least heterosexual girl to ever exist) and i dig the love triangles everyone hates (what a coincidence that that rhymes with why couldn’t they all date), but i do have a preference for jake/bella.

Google and Youtube Lose Copyright Infringement Battle
Suneel Darshan, proprietor of Shree Krishna International, a film production company, filed a permanent injunction suit against Google India and Youtube LLC in the Gurgaon District Court. The reputed film maker has produced many films including Andaaz, Barsaat, Dosti etc. The claim was that the streaming giant had infringed upon the sound recording, cinematograph films and audio visual songs without the Plaintiff’s prior authorisation and further stated that the ‘unauthorized downloader’ and the defendants were sharing the ad revenue generated from this, causing monetary loss to the Plaintiff.
Although it was argued on behalf of the defendants that they were merely providing a platform for the exhibition of his work, and that they were not aware that copyright was infringed, however, owing to the monetary loss suffered by the Plaintiff, the Court ruled in favour of the Plaintiff.
Disney and Lucas film Sue Mouseprint Media LLC for Copyright Infringement
Mouseprint LLC, also known as Disgear is alleged to have been selling merchandise copying Disney’s logos, designs and products. The lawsuit contains a plethora of examples beginning with the logo of the company itself. A prior trademark application filed by the Winter Garden Business was denied based on deceptive similarity. Disney cited multiple products on the site that can be compared to Disney affiliated merchandise such as pirate Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, Darth Vader etc. Disney had sent the company two cease and desist letters to no avail and were left with no option but to file a law suit for damages that have not been specified.
Bella Hadid Sued for Posting Infringing Pictures
Xposure, a company that maintains the business of licensing photographs to leading magazines, newspapers etc. is suing Bella Hadid for copyright infringement as she blatantly ripped off pictures and posted it on her Instagram account without the license or prior consent of the Company. The Company stands to face losses as no company would pay to have a license on a photograph that is readily available on social media. Xposure further claims that, as the famed model uses her Instagram page for promotion of her business, products, interests etc. her conduct is unlikely to be protected under the fair use provisions of the Act. Xposure is claiming damages to the tune of USD 150,000 per infringement, or the actual damages suffered by the Company.
Liam Hemsworth Sued for Copyright Infringement
Liam Hemsworth faces a copyright infringement suit filed by Splash News and Picture Agency over a photograph taken during the production of the film, ‘Isn’t it romantic’ which he posted to his Instagram account. The picture was originally taken by Janet Mayer during the shooting of an outdoor scene. Splash News and Picture Agency claim that the actor posted the picture, without Mayer’s permission or any mode of payment. The Plaintiff’s attorneys further go on to state that the use of the photograph was to encourage the actor’s followers to vote for him and the Movie at the Teens Choice Awards and that the act was wilful and malicious as part of a deliberate marketing gimmick.
Diego Maradona Cries Foul Against Dolce and Gabbana
The 2016 Fall Alta Moda collection in Naples by Dolce & Gabbana contained a model with a sky blue jersey, with a number ten on the back and the name Diego Maradona in silk and crystals. While initially, Maradona called the design a great sign of respect to Naples, he ultimately called foul through an Italian law suit under the Industry Property Code. The claim was that the brand was using his likeness for commercial purposes and was likely to confuse consumers as to his attachment with the brand when he did not endorse the product.
The suit was initially filed in 2016, with Maradona claiming damages worth USD 1 Million. The Court agreed with the reasoning of the Plaintiff, stating that the use of a distinctive name which signifies an attachment of the footballing icon to the brand without the permission of the former, was a violation of the Italian Industry Property Code. The Courts have prescribed damages of USD 70,000 to be paid to the Argentinian  by one of the pioneers in modern fashion.
Rebel Wilson Hit with Federal Law Suit for Infringement
In another instance involving Xposure, the photo licensing business has filed a suit against ‘Isn’t it Romantic’ star Rebel Wilson for copyright infringement. The Australian Actress uploaded photos without the consent of the copyright owners. The photos in question were taken during an outdoor shoot for the film, Hustle, with Anne Hathaway also a part of the pictures. Xposure had sold the photographs to the Daily Mail in 2018 and in the immediate aftermath of the actress posting the picture, sent her a cease a desist later warning her to have it removed. It was further claimed that this form of piracy deprives the agency of licensing fees as well as devalues the syndication value of the work. The claim for damages is USD 150,000 accompanied with a permanent injunction against the actress from ever posting their work on social media again.
Licensing News
Lawsuit Against Apple: Apple Music Streams without Proper License
Pro Music Rights (PMR), a for profit performing rights organisation, with one sole member, founder Jake P Noch, has filed a lawsuit against Apple for unpaid royalties and copyright infringement related to 15 registered copyrights. PMR with around 7.4% of the market share, has rights to license over two millions songs. PMR claims that Apple has streamed and continues to stream a selection of copyrighted music without entering into an agreement with the copyright holder for public performance royalties.
A letter was sent to Apple notifying that the company must acquire public performance licenses. The Statutory Licensing Division of Music replied on the behalf of Apple stating their intent to acquire public licenses. Further attempts to try and strike a deal with Apple by PMR were rebuffed. There has been no mention of where the streaming service publicly performed this music. The claim for damages is USD 150,000 per each act of infringement and court fees.
Mighty Music Player Now Compatible with Amazon Music
The Mighty music player has now announced its compatibility with Amazon music, providing an avenue for users to add music to their offline library from Amazon Music. The device had initially launched with support for Spotify but has now expanded to include other music services. This new compatibility modification allows for users to stream music without a phone, a screen or an internet connection. Mighty was founded by former Dolby, Google and Samsung employees. The Mighty vibe offers enough storage space for 1000+ songs and offers up to five hours of continuous playback.
The Holy Trifecta to Create an Open-Source Smart Home Standard
Amazon, Apple and Google are teaming up to develop an open source smart home standard that will be compatible with all makes of devices from different companies. The project is meant to guarantee that that your Smart Home device will work regardless of the make and model of your smartphone or voice assistant. The smart home industry at large has provided support to this project. Technology from all three companies will contribute to this new standard. The details of whether this will simplify the connectivity process across platforms and whether it will standardize a wide range of smart home commands is still unclear. However, the customers do seem to be the beneficiaries, not having to worry about compatibility issues of the products during the purchase. Initially, the focus will be on devices to maintain security such as smoke alarms and door locks, followed by other commercial products to supplement this.

What's your opinion of Jason, given all the BTS drama, the disaster that was s3 and what went down with C/exa and now Bella/ke? (what if that ship doesn't sail? even with all the social media frenzy around that one now) Is it possible you're being an apologist for him?
Hi anon!
If your assumption is that I am an apologist for Jason, I’m going to assumeyou’re probably new to this blog (welcome!) and have not listened to thepodcast I co-host, Meta Station.  We recapped all of 3B here and I suspectif you listen to any of the episodes that will put that matter to rest prettyquickly.)
If you are new, you might have missed my “I’m no longer taking anons askingme to defend why I still like this show” policy (which you can read here). I answered that question once, at great length, here, and I try to avoid repeating myself where possible.
My opinion of Jason is that I’m done just kind of bitching about himrecreationally, tbh.  I have draggedJason, you have dragged Jason, we have all dragged Jason, it has been agloriously unifying fandom pastime, and there was a time when we probably allfound it cathartic, but I no longer think it serves us and I don’t think itmakes this fandom a better place.  I am only human, I may slip up fromtime to time, especially if he does something really boneheaded, but I amtrying VERY HARD to get myself out of the dragging Jason Rothenberg business.
That said, if you have a particular, specific question about how I feelabout a writing choice, a character choice, or something concrete like that,I’m always happy to take those.  On our podcast, Erin and I critique hisstorytelling choices at LENGTH and have never been quiet about the places wherewe think the writing has been lazy, irresponsible, thoughtless about tropes,fandom-baiting, or just bad storytelling.  In addition, I think based oneverything we all know and hear coming out of the continual BTS rumors, as I’vementioned many times in recent posts, it sounds like for at least a couple ofthe cast members he creates/has created a really difficult workingenvironment.  And yes, I think there were some catastrophically badchoices in S3 - not just Lexa (whose death I have blogged about before here),but the character assassination of Bellamy, the fridging of Gina, the erasureand the death of Lincoln coupled with the way it sounds like Ricky was beingtreated personally, the gross Murphy/Ontari thing - and I think it’s wise that the network brought in a newco-executive producer as a tactful indication that they know Jason needs alittle reining-in.
That said, I don’t think he’s Satan, I don’t think any human being deservesto have people tweet “kill yourself” at them over and over, and I am cautiouslyoptimistic that he has learned some really key lessons from the fallout ofS3.  We’ll see how S4 progresses, and we’ll know what we know when we knowit, but I’m hopeful and positive that this season could be great, and I’m notinterested in apologizing for that.
If your assumption that I’m an apologist from him stems with some of therecent posts in response to fears about cancellation, what I have been sayingover and over is that the NETWORK continues to support Jason, believe in hisvision, show enthusiasm for the stories he is telling, and speak positively ofhim and the show.
I do want to point out, however, that it sounds to me like the question youare at heart asking is “Jason fucked up Clexa and might fuck up Bellarke, whydon’t you hate him and this show more,” which I am happy to answer because thisgives me a chance to remind you that you have sent that question to A KABBY BLOG.Whether Bellarke or Clexa or neither is endgame isn’t why I watch this show, soit is not a dealbreaker for me.
I have said this before, many times, and I will say it again, VERY LOUDLY,in boldface and italic type:
it is very frustrating for all the rest of us in the fandom who don’tlabel ourselves as “Bellarke” or “Clexa” to be addressed as though absolutelynothing else on this show matters except those two ships.
I plan to continue watching the show with enthusiasm.  It’s fine if youdon’t.  That’s a personal choice.  But I loved a lot of things in S3that had nothing to do with Bellarke or Clexa, and I am sure I will find a lotof things in S4 to love that have nothing to do with Bellarke or Clexa, becausefor me this show is not about Bellarke and Clexa.  If it is for you, that’s fine!  We all consume media differently.  But I don’t thinkit’s being an apologist for Jason to feel, for example, that the show is stilltelling really important stories about all kinds of different representation thatdeserve to continue to be dignified, and I don’t think it’s erasing the crappystuff he’s done to say that he’s also done a lot of things really, really well.
Here, in no particular order, is a list of just some of the many things Iloved about S3 that I want to make sure are not erased or drowned out by thenegatives of S3:
Literally every single moment Kane or Abby wereonscreen, separately or together, especially THE KISS and THE PRISON SCENE and THE CHEEK KISS andTHE FINALE HUG and BEING PLOT-RELEVANT
The whole City of Light/ALIE storyline, especially its connection to Grounder mythology
Lindsey’s performance in “Nevermore”
Briller
Indra
There were a lot of big writing/editing problems in the Bellamy/Pike/Kane storyline, but hot damn those performances were fantastic
Becca and the Polaris flashbacks
Roan and Luna
Kanetavia/Rebel!Dad with Harper and Miller
Jasper’s PTSD arc
Monty getting a new level of nuance and complexity
Sinclair getting all the dialogue they probablywrote for Wick and getting to really flesh out his bond with Raven
The Griffin women finally getting the chance toteam up and save the day
Multiple Wells callbacks
Jake callbacks for both Abby and Clarke (especially “I can’t do this again”)
Niylah
Murphy’s entire arc (obviously not counting the creepy Ontari sexual assault/consent violation thing), especially the Indra/Piketrio and his finale teamup with Abby
Raven’s entire arc – running from her pain, thenpushing through it, then becoming a superhero without her injury ever beingdismissed or minimized
The new Arkadia sets, the Rover, and the waythey depicted the Sky People gradually settling in and building a home
Jaha’s slow-burn three-season good guy tovillain arc
I’m excited and enthusiastic about S4, as is pretty much everyone I know inthe Kabby fandom.  It’s okay if you aren’t.  That’s a personalchoice.  But the fact that I’d never take a job working for JasonRothenberg because he sounds like a really awful boss doesn’t mean I’mobligated to hate the way he tells stories or want his show to becanceled.
I gently encourage you to let go of any assumptions you may have that thepeople who continue to enjoy this show are doing so blindly or stupidly, thatliking the show is a blanket endorsement of all a showrunner’s worst personaland professional choices, or that people who like a thing you don’t like do sobecause they’re not as smart as you are and they haven’t figured out that they’rewrong for liking it.
I love this show enough that I have never kept my mouth shut when thewriters make choices I object to.  I lovethis show enough to believe it can bear the weight of a substantial amount ofthoughtful criticism from a wide and diverse range of perspectives, and Ibelieve doing so is vital.
If you just want to tell me Jason is a garbage person and you’re annoyedthat I still like things he’s doing, then I’m afraid I can’t actually help you. If you are here to be an informed, thoughtful critic of this show and are interested in debate, you will always be welcome.  I would just ask you to maybe consider, for next time, the limits of this binary assumption that Clexa and Bellarke are the only aspects of this show that anyone cares about.

The death of the family photo album but the rise of the family holiday vlog?
I didn’t actually go to my 5 year school reunion. I was on the tram that evening making my way from work to the groovy, hidden, underground bar that someone I had been to school with and probably hadn’t spoken to in 5 years had chosen and thought to myself “why would I want to miss out on dinner with my girlfriends to go to see what all of the people I went to school with are up to?” when, to be blunt, I already know. I had already seen that Frankie and Sammy were engaged, that Bella had, had a baby, Jake had started his own business and Gracie was living in India as a model. How? Because I am from a millennial generation where we share everything online. Every moment, big or small, from an Instagram picture of the lunch someone has had that day, to a drunken Snapchat of a gig, the announcement of a baby or the death of a close family member. We share it all. In some instances, this feels comforting, warm and fuzzy knowing that you can always see what your friends are up and that they’re doing well. At other times, it can start to feel a little pervasive. Vivienne & Burgess (2013) discussed the idea of what we dub ‘material culture’ and how now through user-created content networks and social networking sites, the everyday lives of individuals are being remediated into new contexts of social visibility and connection, more so than aiding memory or prompting nostalgia. We’re definitely moving beyond the point of sitting down with friends after a holiday and showing them a slide show of holiday snaps and memories.  Other school mates of mine are big vloggers. “It’s the way of the future” I’ve heard them say before, and they are probably right. I’ve recently really taken to YouTube myself, for of all things..Financial advice. I found a YouTube channel called ‘Sugar Mamma TV’ which has the owner of a boutique financial advisory firm creating YouTube videos, for females, to help them manage their money better.  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4Apd1uiOZ368g9YEN4A1RQ/videos  In the last two weeks, I’ve learnt about what I need to be doing in my twenties to set myself up financially for my thirties and how to manage my own super fund. How handy! I’ve discovered too that there are names for this type of online interaction, particularly in the case of YouTube, which talks to membership of social networks or feelings of attraction to people, ideas and content. And it’s called affiliation.
Think about it. There is a plethora of content available online, and on YouTube but we are segmented into digital communities based on the content we watch based on what we feel an affinity or level of affiliation towards. Broadly, people have affiliations to many types of things such as hobbies, institutions or ideologies that form the overt content of a video's subject matter. (Lange, 2009)
I’m sure most of you, couldn’t relate to videos about financial planning in your twenties if your lives depended on it. And our recommended YouTube video viewing probably looks very different.

Killed His Family. Then The Love Letters Started
The world was acquainted with Chris Watts, a 33-year-old oil field administrator in Colorado, on neighborhood TV. Tanned and fit, he investigated the camera ― clearly in anguish ― and asked for his family to get back home.
His pregnant spouse and their two little girls had vanished.
Inside multi day, he was in cuffs. Police discovered his better half, Shanann Watts, 34, covered in a shallow grave at an oil field claimed by his boss. Drifting in adjacent oil tanks were his little girls, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3.
Aggressive behavior at home killings are normal and seldom get continued national media consideration. Yet, this case was unique. It had every one of the elements for a newspaper sensation. A pretty mother who recorded everything she might do via web-based networking media. A vanishing. A pregnancy. Also, a horrible, mystifying wrongdoing.
It didn't hurt that the family was youthful, white and Instagram immaculate.
Chris Watts in the long run admitted to every one of the three homicides and was condemned to life in the slammer. When the case was finished, the head prosecutor discharged a huge number of pages of records identified with the passings in light of a Freedom of Information Act ask. A lot of it was standard ― photographs of the wrongdoing scenes, interviews with observers, duplicates of instant messages.
In any case, settled among the records was something strange: a reserve of worshiping letters sent to Watts while he sat in prison anticipating preliminary. To a few ladies seeing from a remote place, Watts was a heartthrob ― and a potential sentimental intrigue.
"I need to become more acquainted with you soooo awful its not appropriate at all," a 39-year-elderly person from Colorado kept in touch with him. "Truly your at the forefront of my thoughts pretty much each and every day since you were in the news." In a subsequent note, she said she would be "the most joyful young lady alive" if Watts kept in touch with her back. She closed down with the hashtags #TEAMCHRIS, #CHRISISINNOCENT, #LOVEHIM and #SOOOOCUTE.
All over, it's hard to grasp why any lady would fall for a man known exclusively to carry out a brutal wrongdoing. Particularly the horrendous murdering of his own family. But then they do.
Pulled in To Notoriety
The wonder of ladies getting to be beguiled by killers in the slammer isn't new: Notorious executioners from the beginning of time, similar to Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy, pulled in female groupies. Charles Manson was locked in to a lady who started keeping in touch with him in jail when she was a teenager.
As of late, the blamed Parkland, Florida, school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, has been immersed with affection letters. So has Steven Avery, the subject of the hit narrative arrangement "Making a Murderer," who was sentenced for executing Teresa Halbach. Simply this week, a lady who traded letters with Dylann Roof, a racial oppressor who slaughtered nine dark admirers at a congregation in 2015, was captured for plotting to assault a bar.
In any case, specialists come to by HuffPost said that cases seem, by all accounts, to be expanding, on account of the general population's interest with genuine wrongdoing and the ascent of web-based social networking.
"We have constantly adored our big names," said Sheila Isenberg, who talked with ladies fixated on killers for her book Women Who Love Men Who Kill. "Before, it was simply motion picture stars. Presently anyone who does anything one of a kind turns into a VIP, regardless of whether they've submitted murder."
No place is this more evident than on Facebook, where genuine wrongdoing groupies accumulate to talk about cases. One such page, committed to the Watts murders, has more than 19,000 individuals. In an ongoing string, individuals discussed whether Ryan Gosling or Jake Gyllenhaal should play Watts in a film.
"Individuals can speak with one another in a flash to examine the case, and they can make saints out of culprits," Isenberg said. "Today like never before, this is a typical wonder."
In transcribed letters to Watts discharged by the express, some represented with hearts, numerous ladies depicted inclination mysteriously attracted to him in the wake of finding out about his case. A couple said they trusted his cases that he didn't execute his children ― he initially told police his significant other killed them ― while others said they couldn't have cared less what occurred and wouldn't ask him subtleties.
"I know I'm an outsider ― yet I care about you and your circumstance. I can't resist. Is there anything you require? Would i be able to send you something ― a book maybe?" composed a 29-year-old Brooklyn lady in a clean content on lined journal paper. "Keep your head up and remain solid. It would be ideal if you know there are outsiders out there (like me) who care about you."
She encased a photograph of herself in a swimsuit.
"I will never get some information about your case," composed another lady, a 39-year-old who said she was as of now imprisoned for a monetary wrongdoing. "For reasons unknown I wind up thinking about how you're doing. So all I'm attempting to state is that I'm here."
Ladies who are besotted with killers frequently stay trying to claim ignorance about the wrongdoing. That way they can live inside a dream relationship, specialists told HuffPost. There is an odd juxtaposition between the loving state of mind of the letters to Watts and the grim realities of his case.
Post-mortem examination reports uncovered that Watts gradually killed his significant other by strangulation, which would have taken two to four minutes, as indicated by investigators. He choked out his two little girls to death. Bella, who was 4, had keep quiet and cuts in her mouth, demonstrating that she battled for her life.
Specialists trust Chris Watts executed his family since he was engaging in extramarital relations and needed another begin without the things of a pregnant spouse and two youthful kids. In the weeks paving the way to the homicides, Shanann Watts, detecting his separation, attempted urgently to settle their marriage, notwithstanding sending her significant other a book titled Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love.
Police found the clearly new book in the junk.
Understanding Why
There are numerous reasons ladies are pulled in to men bolted up for enormous wrongdoings. Some are inspired by a craving for popularity, Isenberg clarified. They need to be in the spotlight and trust that having an association with a prominent executioner could mean a TV meeting or book bargain.
"They don't take a gander at the wrongdoing. They take a gander at his distinction, and they don't do it on a cognizant dimension," she said. "They imagine that by being related with him, they can get their names in the papers as well."
Katherine Ramsland, a measurable brain science educator at DeSales University, said that in uncommon cases, ladies might be explicitly stirred by the possibility that the men submitted a brutal demonstration, a condition called hybristophilia.
"There is a titillation factor of drawing near to viciousness," she said.
All the more generally, however, she stated, ladies are spurred by an impulse to support. They think ― anyway gullibly ― that they can fix such men with their adoration. They need to tame them.
"It engages the lady to trust that she, not at all like any other person out there, can make this uncommon relationship that will change this person and recover him," she said.
In letter after letter, numerous ladies urged Chris Watts to keep his head high and communicated worry about his perspective. Some disclosed individual insights concerning their lives, depicting their everyday exercises and interests, similar to their most loved games groups. Others kept in touch with him offering him passionate help.
"You genuinely have one of the kindest appearances I've at any point seen," composed a 35-year-elderly person from Australia. "I don't know you, yet I don't need you to feel alone."
California therapist Carole Lieberman, who composed Bad Boys: Why We Love Them, How to Live With Them and When to Leave Them, said as far as she can tell, numerous ladies who connect with men in jail have low confidence.
Sometimes, she stated, ladies may have encountered maltreatment before.
"They feel unlovable," she said. "They don't feel they merit a man who has more to offer them, thus they go for this extraordinary sort of association with a killer."
