Summary: jinx took over silcos crime ring when he died and you are her second in command

My days are pretty boring and monotonous for being second in command for the biggest crime ring in Zaun. I wake up, make my tea, go to work, take inventory, and go home. Obviously my days aren't exactly the same but they are similar enough. Today was one of those days.

“Jinx wants to see you.”

Ugh sevika. She thinks she runs this place since she's been with the ring the longest. She thinks she deserves to run this place.

I rolled my eyes at her in response

“Look just because your girlfriend is uppity about me doesn't mean you have too.”

“Just because my head is between her legs, doesn't mean it's up her ass too.”

Sevika grimaces and I groan and walk away from taking inventory. I don't feel like dealing with her bullshit today. Or ever really.

I push the door open with my shoulder to jinx’s office. The doors are heavy and made of rusted iron. The handles are vials of shimmer. The doors creak as I enter.

“Hello y/n”

Jinx turns around to face you in her chair behind the desk.

“Hi baby, what's up?”

“Don't call me that you know I hate pet names. But can you grab my shimmer for me? My eye is fucking killing me.”

Sometimes I feel more like a monkey than her girlfriend. Just another one of her employees but with more sexual benefits.

I grab the shimmer from the table and straddle her to get a better angle. A part of me only uses that as an excuse to get closer to her.I take her chin and angle her head upwards, take the syringe, and inject her eye. Her left eye looks like a nuclear sunset with a void in the middle. She winces in pain for a moment.

“Ah fuck. That never gets easier” jinx groans

You take her face and plant a soft kiss on her forehead and she raises her hand to yours. You step backwards to put the syringe away.

“This wasn't the only reason i called you in here”

I think she wants a sexual favor from me. That's usually how this goes but she keeps talking.

“ I have a job I want you to come along and it's a pretty serious one. I wanted my assistant to come with me. Id send one of the other employees but i feel like theyd fuck this job up. And we have the power they don't.”

Finally I'm starting to feel important. Jinx usually did the negotiating while i kept things running on the inside. But I never really felt like I had the power people claimed I had as jinx’s girlfriend and assistant.

“Sounds good. But what's the job?” i questioned

“We have to go to piltover and talk to jayce talis about importing more shimmer through their harbors. Business is booming right now and we need to make bigger shipments. And I need you there just in case things go wrong.”

“Like a bodyguard? Am I getting a demotion?” i joke

“Ha. ha. Funny. You think I'm some joke? You don't think I can handle myself? You think im gonna fuck up the job like i fuck everything up right?!”

“No, I-Im sorry” i raise my hands in defeat

“Good. Because it sounded like my girlfriend and assistant were doubting my abilities. Remember who's above you y/n. I'll let you know the details later. Now get the fuck out of my office.”

“Hello ladies, glad to be in your presence.” Jayce bows sarcastically

“Yeah whatever, let's just get to business.” jinx groans

I follow them into an empty alley. I thought maybe we’d be in an office or something but maybe the guy doesn't want us knowing where he resides. Jayce starts the convo

“Ok you called a meeting with me and i only have 15 minutes. So get to the point.”

“We want to import more shimmer through the harbors. Business is booming a-”

“No.”

“No? What do you mean no? This would benefit both of us in the long run and youre fucking delusional not to think so.”

“I already have the council up my ass. I can't import more shimmer without it being suspicious. The answer is no.”

Jinx pulls out her gun and points it at jayce

“We import more shimmer through your harbors or you get a bullet in the skull. Its honestly your choice”

Next thing I know there's a flash of blue illuminating the sky, the boom of a gun, and a warm feeling running down my chest. I slip into the void at peace.

I flutter my eyes open and see a distorted jinx next to me

“You're nothing to me. You're just a dog that I bet on and you're losing.” she laughs maniacally

I try to sit up but I'm paralysed. What the fuck is going on? Before I can process anything I drift away again.

I squint my eyes open. I'm in a sketchy room, on a twin sized mattress on the floor.

“Oh god, baby I'm so glad you're alive!”

You feel jinx’s warm lips against your clammy forehead

“Wha- ow fuck” you clutch your chest

“I'm so sorry baby, I'm so so sorry. I shouldn't have brought you along I jinxed it like i do everything this is all my fault im sorry”

“What are you talking about?”

“I-i accidentally shot you when jayce let off a bomb. I got startled and I shot you. Jayce died when the bomb went off but I got lucky. You… died when I shot you. I brought you to singed because i knew he could revive you…like he did me and it worked. Now you have to inject yourself with shimmer where you were injured to stay alive. I shouldn't have ever threatened jayce in the first place. This is all my fault.” she sobbed

“This… is a lot to process.” i wince in pain

“I'm so sorry. I've been cold and distant with you and you don't deserve that. Even though I keep you at arms distance, I love you. I didn't realise how much I loved you until I lost you. If I lost you…then I would have no one left. I need you in my life. You make my days brighter, you support me in ways no one else does, and I never want to take you for granted ever again. I want to love you the way you deserve, if you'll let me?”

I try my best to sit up to kiss her but I can't. Jinx fills in the space and kisses me passionately and deeply. Like if she stopped kissing me she'd lose me again. I break the kiss.

“I know. I love you too”

She climbs into bed with me. We are so close that we could almost merge into one. She pushes my sweaty strands of hair out of my face and kisses me softly on my nose and we drift off to a blissful sleep. And even though this is the most pain i've ever been in i'm the happiest i've ever been.

Forward, but Never Forget/XOXO - A Mel x Silco Outline Type Thing

Just a rough outline of factoids to keep in mind as I delve deeper into the sheer political and trauma-related dramatics of this ship, and all that it entails.

It likely will make little sense, but it's how I like to 'map out' character arcs and where I'd like them to go:

Archetypes: superficial layer - Mel as the slyly demure fox and Silco as the patiently bloodthirsty shark. Vibes - a shapeshifting kitsune (Mel) meets classical horror story merman (Silco). Forbidden romance with a touch of eldritch horror ensues. Tarot characters - the Lovers in the Ryder-Waite-Smith deck, but trapped in the Devil energy. They evolve into Emperor and Empress energy by the tale's end, albeit rulers of different 'kingdoms.'

Mythology: Hades' abduction of Persephone; Chthonic versus Solar themes.

Interactions: Push-and-pull under playfulness. Smooth strokes on the surface. Mel is a savvy and experienced swimmer, but Silco is an oceanic entity unto himself. He'd prepared to lull her into complacency - before sucking her in. Mel has escape strategies at hand, though, and a talent for evasion. Her undoing comes when she has no exit left. His undoing comes when he discovers he prefers her not as prey but as a partner.

Weakness: Two absolutely different worlds and yet so unexpectedly well-matched. Their minds meet; sparks fly. But too much sparkage shuts down higher thought. They push each other to grow, but also push each other to take reckless risks.

Ultimately it nearly gets them killed.

Convos/Relationship:

Master strategists in their own right. Artistry vs rhetoric. Lots of poetry swapped.

She cultivates in him an appreciation for the Venusian aspects of life: a leisurely dinner, a late-night stroll, witty banter leading to nowhere. He's torn between hateful avarice and grudging admiration - she's Piltover's literal sun, and he longs to drag her down. But the warmth is a wonderful thing to bask in.

He tempts her down a darker path - literally. Appeals to her need to surrender calculations and to finesse fools - and just be in the moment. His ruthlessness repels but his struggles inspire respect - particularly his love for Jinx. She's intrigued by the seemingly reconciled dichotomy of wolf and fox.

In time, Mel develops a fascination for the Undercity. Silco, in turn, enjoys showing her the sights. Chapters where they interact to be typically standalone, heightening the sense of a 'lovers oasis' - even with other characters around. Good chance to sprinkle in world-building and history re: Zaun, our third character.

Slow evolution w/ every meeting. They first square off post-war in a wrecked harbor. Gradually, as the plot develops and Zaun matures, the venues/settings grow increasingly more elaborate, signifying how Zaun is on the rise, and Silco obtaining a political parity with Mel.

Meetings also become increasingly "date-like."

They swap periodic correspondence. Facetious with a flirty edge. Are they being sincere? Are they antagonizing? Leave it hard to tell.

Mel is more sophisticated, with old-money sensibilities. Silco is coming into wealth and enjoying the benefits. Clash in outlook is mild, however; their tastes run somewhat parallel.

Mel is, despite self-interest, more morally anchored, and remains so until the tale's end. Silco's arc is not one of morality, but of consequence.

Mel develops feelings first. Doesn't fight them, though there is shame and misgiving for stepping out on Jayce. But she also wants what she wants, and is unaccustomed to being denied.

Silco does deny her. In this respect, he is older, colder, and more calculating. His ruse is not one of seduction, but a slow cultivation of intimacy. It would be nothing to take her to bed, but he's after something else.

He plays the long game. The very long game.

The two have zero privacy. Each chapter - barring final few - occurs with their security entourages present. Few opportunities for hanky-panky, but by god do they push every limit.

Shades of teenaged hilarity in lighter moments of dodging scrutiny. Reminder that in another life, they might have been good friends - or much more.

Consummation soon after she sees Silco's 'fangs' in action - and isn't frightened of them. Silco realizes she has a dark streak and can handle herself.

By the end of their sexual encounter, he brings Mel's own she-wolf out.

Sex is detailed, bittersweet, but also dark and with themes of degradation and depredation. Afterwards, both are drained and confused on where they stand strategically.

Relationship to act as the 'hinge' for plot politics and character meetings (Jinx and Vi, warfare and espionage, trade and peace treaty). Nothing moves forward without these two hashing it out first.

Contrast to other ship: SilcoxSevika. Feet on the ground and head in the game. Old life long gone. Present commitments. Duty and loyalty. Bond/tether themes. Mild vibes of an extramarital affair re: Mel - with Sevika as the pragmatic spouse who has been there thru thick and thin, multiple dalliances, sickness, death, war, bankruptcy, a crazy step-child.

After each Mel chapter, more often than not Silco will have sex with Sevika. Expending pent-up energy and keeping his head clear. But also, subconsciously, reaffirming 'vows.'

He will rarely revel in his own disloyalty. Try to rationalize in his mind - but by the end he faces consequences for that, too.

MelxJayce. In fact, Mel's actual chance at redemption, repeatedly pushed away and kept at a cautious distance because of her past traumas. Compounded guilt as Jayce becomes caught up in certain political dangers. She is a gray character and unaccustomed to the black and white world he inhabits. Finds it endearing but unsustainable in real life. Tries her hardest to nurture that idealist's streak in him, and to make the dirty decisions herself.

By the end, Jayce will prove her literal 'knight in shining armor.'

Wraps up: Bittersweet - with emphasis on both bitterness and sweetness. A love lost; a road untraveled. In many ways, they each met their match. Yet the match proved their near undoing. Short-term passion vs long-term compatibility themes. In the end, who leaves you spellbound - but who steadies you?

Meanwhile, Silco's crew breathe a sigh of relief. "She would've ruined you, sir..."

as a consequence of the alcohol, jayce slept well until the afternoon. right before he drifted off, he set up a sleeping bag and a few pillows for his brother. in the morning, layne folded the blanket and hitched a ride home with a friend after he woke up. he wrote his number down on a piece of paper signed with a small note:

jayce was sluggish getting out of bed. the pressure from his head pounded through his temples. suddenly, blurry memories from the previous night wash over him. “oh my god,” jayce throws his pillow over his face. he knows he’s got to talk to yuna. this whole time he’s been trying to find ways to make her hate him less. last night had to of made everything worse. he struggles to put all the pieces back together. he can only recall fragments from the car ride. when the natural light from window stopped blinding him, he dragged himself to the shower.  the hot water revived him but he yearned for coffee and something to eat. 

with his towel wrapped around his waist, jayce shaved his face, making sure not to miss a hair. the fresh smell of aftershave he rubbed on his skin gave him chills. jayce picked out a classic pair of sweatpants; green this time. instead of a white shirt he opted for black. even if he couldn’t remember all the details, he was sure yuna deserved an apology for the way he intruded on her night. the blond runs a comb through the long tendrils and brushes his teeth. what was he thinking? he searches through his bathroom cabinets picking out a cologne he doesn’t usually put on. 

finally, time to put something- anything inside his stomach. he swings his bedroom door open, revealing yuna opening her door at the exact same time. seeing her face filled him with humiliation immediately. his eyes peer down to meet hers. “i’m so sorry. i-i can’t imagine how pissed you are. i don’t even what to say, i should have called an uber or anything. -and i’m sorry if my brother bothered you at all. just, uh, very sorry all around.”

Wooooooo!!! Only just saw the latest comic and it defo picked up my mood. My skull feels like it's trying to burst open but seeing V prompt Jayce to talk more about his interest warms my ADHD heart <3

I've been shut down a hell of a lot (it's why I always try n get people to keep talking if they're cut off or told to hush, to the point where I make others wait until I've finished a convo to start a new one) and it gets really disheartening at times. I was also lucky enough to find a friend like V who doesn't mind my long ass rambling so that comic connected deeply!!!! It feels so raw and I love it!!! Makes me want to go poke that buddy about his interests now...

On an entirely different note I would die if someone gave me a lil quartz cat. Cutest thing, straight on ny shelf. I don't suppose you have the full script or written up rock facts because I'm genuinely interested but straining to see the tiny print hurts my head rn lmao and I'd love to see more of them if they didn't make it into the final cut!!! You're bout to send me on a rock googling spree, oh god XD

As I said, this is very much a personal experience of being on both sides of infodumping about my hyperfixations and having friends who feel safe enough to share their interest with me. I really wanted it to feel real and let others feel what I’ve felt in the hopes that they know what it’s like too. And ack the wonderful messages I’ve received!! 🥺 I’m so happy we have a little community like this (I mean Crank It wouldn’t exist if everyone didn’t let me fully indulge in my hyperfixation hahaha)

Hahaha. So as you can see by the *rock facts* note, I was pulling from a Wikipedia rabbit hole and a stream of consciousness for Jayce rambling. The most important part was just having a lot of things being said. Haha

But I have the high res version so the bubbles say:
