I honestly love the clothing styles of each of the turtles in this show and I love how these styles really incorporate their personalities as well.

Like, obviously Donnie has the best sense of style, yeah? Think that’s something pretty agreed upon here. Everything we see him put together is very meticulously crafted and clean. That goes with his personality because Donnie is a very meticulous person in general, and he knows what he likes very, very well, and knows how to flaunt it in turn. Him commenting on colors he enjoys or disapproving of outfits that the others see no problem with also shows how he just generally has an eye for this kind of thing. He doesn’t just know what looks good on himself, but also what looks good on others - and I think this ties into his love of gift giving too. Donnie also has a flair for making sure that his things have his “mark” on them, and his clothing is no exception. All that he wears and how he wears them screams “Donnie.”

Mikey is really fun because his styles are honestly a pendulum between super simplistic and incredibly out there. And often, you’re going to see a lot of color or patterns to both. And in my opinion I think that all reflects really well on Mikey’s character - he’s got a colorful personality but even more than that he’s incredible sure of who he himself is. Mikey’s style, I feel, is less what looks good as clothes and more what sparks joy in Mikey himself. His bright stickers he wears are a testament of that! He’s comfortable in his own skin and his style reflects this perfectly, whether he goes for a more out-there look or a more toned down one.

Now, for Leo. Okay, I think I’m actually in the minority here I feel because Leo’s style isn’t really that bad? Hear me out- if you actually look at what he wears, try taking out, like, one accessory. Suddenly, that outfit works! He even manages to put together many good outfits in the series, but his “bad” ones are the ones that tend to stand out, alas (just like how his mistakes tend to be big ones oop-) Basically, my personal look at him is not that he’s inept at styling at all, but that he has a “too much” gene. And like everyone else, this sense of style is completely like him, too. Going too far to impress when all he needed to do was slow it down some to think things through. (And funnily enough, a lot of his outfits take random aspects from his brothers too - “nothing without them” huh?)

For Raph, I feel bad for him since pretty much all of his clothes are inevitably going to be ripped, but he makes them work pretty much each time. Like Leo, Raph tends to go more sporty with his looks, but I also noticed that his stuff often goes in that in between of comfy, cool, and cute. His pajama suit in particular comes to mind in terms of “cute” as it’s more something you’d see younger children in rather than older kids, and I think it can be a subtle nod to the fact that for all Raph tries to seem older, he’s still just a kid too.

I could probably go on, but these are just all off the top of my head - I love how the boys’ personality’s come out in so many different ways.

already seeing people who clearly don’t understand that a lot of us who are upset about what happened to marwa in this episode aren’t upset about the characters’ in-universe morality but the real life misogyny and racism in the way that this plot was handled lol

One thing I enjoy about The Narrative in Princess Tutu is how implicitly tied to gender Drosselmeyer’s story roles are. Take Princess Tutu and the Knight. They ostensibly have the same fate: dying for the Prince while achieving absolutely nothing. But while Princess Tutu gracefully turns into a speck of light after confessing her love, the Knight is gruesomely torn apart. Over and over again in Drosselmeyer’s narrative, femininity is associated with romance while masculinity is associated with violence.

The Princesses are given one goal: earn the heart of the Prince at any cost. Meanwhile the Prince and the Knight are both expected to be fighters. The Knight will fall against the Raven and the Prince will be left to battle for the rest of his days. And while the Prince is strongly tied to love—he loves everyone—he isn’t expected to compete the way the Princesses are pitted against each other. The men are protectors against the Raven while the women are left to fight over them.

We see the strain these toxic gender roles have on the characters. Without the influence of the story, Fakir most likely would have grown up to be a writer. Instead, the combination of trauma and growing up under the expectations encapsulated by the role of the Knight hardened him. In this way, violence was something that was imposed on him, something he learned to embrace. Likewise, Duck doesn’t want to compete for Mytho or make him hers. She’s more preoccupied with protecting her friends than finding romance.

That’s why it’s so cathartic to see these characters defy their fates. Duck is perfectly contented without her Prince, Fakir puts down his sword in favor of a peaceful life that he’s much more suited to, and even Mytho rejects the idea that he must love everyone equally to pursue romantic love. In this way, defying fate is also defying gender.

I’ve always loved medicine bc it’s the perfect intersection of science and humanity—the two things I value above all else in this world. Truly adored it since I was in the cradle. But now I’m thinking about how so much of my journey to neurosurgery will have to involve KILLING my feelings essentially bc how do you survive otherwise

#Not to mention the surprisingly high suicide rate of surgeons that’s been brought to my attention lately #Honestly I just started my neuro internship and just saw my first patient in clinic #And on the day I did I was critical of my neurologist for being so robotic about it #Now I can see why #I’m still at a point where I can’t even do a chart review for a patient without feeling so fucking sad #And I can see how that can get unsustainable after a while #But it’s like if I kill the feelings that drive my passion for medicine to begin with then what’s the point #It’s not like I’m in it for the money or prestige bc that’s so dumb considering how long the schooling is #But literally how to deal #My supervisors at the clinic very much all speak about the dementia patients w a learned impartialness #But I don’t wanna be that way one day :( but how to be anything else and still survive #I’m pre med so I still have time and maybe my opinion will change and I’ll wanna do another specialty #But when it comes to this every specialty will involve human lives and navigating that regardless #That said I can see why surgeons are at higher risk or depression suicide etc #The whole point of this internship is to teach myself how to navigate this stuff but. Oh fuck I have a lot. Let me think of a few. I’m just gonna choose random ones across any of the games.

Paladin Danse is more squeamish than most would take him for. His self-control extends to control over visceral reactions, so in the field this doesn’t really come up, ergo he can see someone sustain a lethal injury in combat and appear unphased. However, Danse is the kind of person who can’t look at a needle going in while receiving an injection. When there isn’t the obligation of duty keeping him together, blood and viscera really bother him.

Raul Tejada is excellent with animals and has a special fondness for horses, as his family had them on their ranch where he grew up. I like to think Raul at some point had a mule sleipnir. Maybe he still does and they were separated when Raul got stuck on Black Mountain.

The Stealth Suit Mk. II is capable of full sentience, however had restraints written into their code to bar them from full awareness. The suit is aware they’re being held back from independent thought. Most of the things they say are automated, but they are capable of limited problem solving and critical thinking. The suit asking do you like me? Is an example of this.

Butch DeLoria has a manageable but noticeable fear of the dark. He insists that he didn’t develop that fear until after leaving the vault.

Has anyone figured out what to do with the undying rage that lives just beneath the surface? Like the fury that you constantly need to be pushing down because you know unleashing it onto others is cruel? But if you never let it out the build up causes you to explode on some unsuspecting bystander?

Okay lads I hate (and I mean hate) to be the bearer of bad news here but like… if the captain wasn’t lying and barry in fact was real then… barry died guys :(

The captain, wandering the halls of button house calling out for his loyal friend. A friend who helped him through thick and thin—when the war started, when havers left, when the looming dread of war became too much. Eventually the whole unit starts searching for him, rummaging through bushes and scouting the nearby forest. Even the sweet promise of treats could not beckon the dog from his hiding spot.

Finally, the captain returns to his office. Under his desk he finds the small fluffy body curled in on itself. Lost in a deep slumber.

“Ah, barry, there you are!” He smiled with relief, placing a comforting hand on his companion.

The captain’s heart drops. He’s cold to the touch.

“Barry?” He asks, pleads, quietly. “Come on, wake up old boy.” A lump formed in his throat, the captain struggled to swallow as tears pricked his eyes.

The little dog’s body lay still under his fingers. His soft breathing had escaped his lungs for a while now.

And so the captain sat there, cradling the small creature in his arms. His fur was made wet with tears. Minutes, or perhaps hours passed. It didn’t matter anymore. It was strange, his time spent with barry seemed so short. From the day he brought him home to this moment felt like it went by in the blink of an eye, now time passed so slowly as he quietly sobbed behind his desk.

He tearfully breaks the news to the unit, and they all agree to give him a proper soldier’s burial. Taking the two shabby rifles and limited ammunition they had, a ceremony was held in the garden. The captain slowly laid his dog into the hole. Watching helplessly as he left the warm embrace of his arms into the cold, wet earth.

“He was very special to me.”

More words were said, but his clouded mind could not keep its grip on the reality before him.

Finally, the two-gun salute was fired and flowers were placed on top of him. A blanket of pale petals.

The captain alone buried him. Silent tears ran down his damp cheeks as each shovel of dirt obscured his only friend. Saying goodbye never got easier, despite the captain becoming used to it.
