Later seasons episode where Hawkeye gets laryngitis or something, and loses his voice temporarily. He does some slapstick bits, he very enthusiastically mimes the things he means, he carries around a notebook, makes a complete pest of himself to compensate, is very frustrated and pushy, but still he gets easily ignored and drowned out by the rest of the cast. BJ and Charles decide to take the chance to torment him as "punishment" for always being so annoying all the time, but not being appropriately heard visually wears on Hawkeye. At the climax, he isn't able to voice his opinion, and sway a decision at a crucial moment. It's all some metaphor for Hawkeye's waning agency within the US army, and the wear and tear some of the later seasons relationships have on him etc etc

hawkeye actually gets pretty good at trapper’s accent because he mocks him sometimes ( not a ton , just enough to get good at the trapper boston accent ) so sometimes he subconsciously just says things trapper might say in trapper’s voice and unsurprisingly it’s one of bj’s less favorite bits

Just had a thought.

Hawkeye meeting Charles sister, Honoria, for whatever reason.

By accident probobly. He and Charles run into eachother and Honoria is either there, or they go back to Charles house and shes there or somthing like that.

In all of his talking about her, Charles never mentioned she has a stutter. (Why would he? Its not noteworthy. You don't point out when sombody doesnt sutter, do you?)

Honoria introduces herself or starts talking about somthing and Hawkeye just...stares at her. Sort of blankly. Lets her finish talking.

Charles is about to get upset, says with a warning tone "Pierce-" but Hawkeye doesnt say what Charles was anticipating. Instead he says, with awe, or perhaps slightly flirtatiously as he does with meeting any woman,

"You have a beautiful voice."

This was inspired by Garp and Mihawk's interaction in the live action show. The way they speak so easily with each other makes it seem like there's some history between them as vice admiral and warlord. I don't see much content with them, so I'm curious what everyone thinks about it, and those two with their dynamic in the show.

through heavy , heavy tears : hawkeyes first instinct is to be KIND he’s so much less guarded than trapper and even bj when first meeting people ( even ones he probably won’t like ) he always treats them with respect . i’m going to be physically ill

#i have a headcanon that people were kind of really mean to hawkeye as a kid and this little detail about him reinforces it #he very much gives like . i was weird and left out as a kid but people love me now and i never want to be like those people who left me out #i feel like you see it most heavily with radar but he also does this thing when he steps back when he realizes he’s actually hurt someone’s #feelings . #idk like #he’s not kind ALL the time . like he obviously jokes around a LOT and some of those jokes can be pretty mean and even then sometimes he has #trouble apologizing #but at the same time ( most of the time ) if he realizes something has gone too far he’ll do what he can to express that he didn’t mean it i #in his own hawkeye way #i’m thinking about in ‘ for want of a boot ‘ when trapper calls radar short and radar gets upset about it and hawk’s like #‘ hey you know he’s only joking ‘ in that soft voice #or in ‘ house arrest ‘ when radar gets the platform shoes and hawkeye was like ‘ i was out of line for making fun of you ‘ #those are the instances that come to mind but there’s a TON more #idk i just really love that detail about him #that he’s willing to step back and recognize when a joke’s maybe gone too far #he even does it with frank and charles #mash #mashposting #m*a*s*h #mash 4077 #hawkeye pierce #hawkeye

Hadn't really thought about it but something says Hawkeye Pierce to me. 😝

Also they share the whole "being shoved against their will into a horrid situation they have little to no control over and reacting with sarcasm and some times coldness while still trying to squeeze every pleasant moment they can out of their existence" vibe 😝

As for being a ghost I don't think his voice is affected, per se. He himself sounds the same but others might hear his voice slightly differently depending on whether he's in tombstone or human form.
