About: Fjor needs comforting in the middle of the night and you're the only one he can think about.

A/N: Hello everyone! So in this fic Fjor didn't end up with Gry. He did play along with Vidar's plans. Gry is alive and out of Edda. It's in season 2 so please watch before reading! Hope you'll enjoy this one ☺️

There was a small drizzle making Edda seem even darker. Shadows stretched across the streets. It gave you an eerie feeling, so going to sleep earlier was a way of escaping. Your mind was at peace.

It felt like minutes when a weird sound woke you up. You didn't open your eyes at first just listened to the surrounding. The droplets hit your window, wind met the walls of your house and footsteps neared your bed.

You shot up in fright. Your gaze falling on a silhouette. Before a scream escaped your lips a hand covered your mouth. From up close you could see familiar facial features. Your breath slowed down when you recognized Fjor, your best friend.

"Sorry I woke you up." He whispered removing his hand and sitting down.

"You gave me a heart attack." You hissed before falling back on your pillows. "What are you doing here?"

"I couldn't sleep." He sighted playing with his fingers. You observed him carefully. There was a frown on his face, his movements betraying nervousness and even in the dark you could see a broken look in his eyes.

"Tell me." You said softly and patted the space next to you. He leaned his back on the headboard.

"There's a lot going on. I have so much on my shoulders." Fjor admitted and you sat up to grab his hand drawing soothing circles on the back of it.

"I told you that maybe Saxa should lead the company. She's though." The both of you already talked about everything that has happened in his life. But Fjor still believed it was his duty to make Vidar proud.

"I can't just give it all up. I'm the oldest son." He almost growled, but you knew it wasn't directed at you. Fjor was frustrated, angry and exhausted. A fight wasn't what he needed right now.

"I know." You sighted tiredly. Waking up in the middle of the night and having deep conversation wasn't on your to do list. "Do you want to talk or would you like to lay down and just relax?"

"I'd like to have a rest." He admitted and you nodded.

"Then come here. I'll play with your hair." You said laying in your old position and Fjor slipped under the covers.

"I might fall asleep." You chuckled at his confession. "Haven't slept in two days. If you don't count one meeting when I dozed off."

"You fell asleep in front of important people?" You turned your head to look at his face. There was a shadow of a smile.

"Yeah, they talked nonsense." Fjor mumbled into your chest.

"I feel like you're about to do the same." Your playful tone was met with a chuckle of his own. You were happy that at least for few minutes Fjor could forget about all the worries. It was him and you.

"I might. But I'm not scared of it. You're my best friend, you know everything about me." He breathed out relaxing further. He needed this, the lack of overthinking, just simple talk and your affection.

"That's something. Especially since you're the most mysterious boy in this town." You muse slowly combing your fingers through his hair.

"I'm an open book." Fjor huffed squeezzing your sides lightly.

"Oh really? Then what's the most obvious thing, written in bold letters?"

"That I love you." Your moves stopped and Fjor seemed to held his breath for a second. He lifted his head up and looked at you with pleading eyes.

"You.. Love me?" The question was ridiculous. He just told you that, maybe it was a moment of weakness or just his tired mind. But he said it, he confessed his love for you and your mind went blank.

"I do. I had for awhile. (Y/N), please say something." Fjor begged with desperation. He was scared you'd tell him to leave and never come back. He would do it if that's what you'll wish for, but it wouldn't make it any easier for him.

"I'm either dumb or you're an amazing actor, Fjor Jutul." You shook your head smiling before leaning in to kiss him.

There was no rush in your kiss. It was slow and meaningful. It was full of emotions the both of you hid for quiet some time. The kiss would linger in your mind for years to come, but you looked forward to it. You couldn't wait to build a future with your best friend and now lover.
