I finished reading Roxxon Presents: Thor and immediately wanted to throw up, which is a testament to Al Ewing’s excellent writing, but this page in particular stood out to me for a couple of reasons.

I think this page has a few more layers past being just a callout on big businesses putting out art “content” about the evils of big businesses… I doubt Al Ewing would keep writing marvel comics if that were case.

For starters, if we go with the theory that this comic is partially meant to parody the MCU and it’s take on Thor, then this could be seen as reflective of how the MCU started to stop taking itself seriously and have all of it’s characters treat the very world they inhabit like a joke, to act like all they’re battles have no real stakes, and constantly make jokes when they’re supposed to be protecting civilians. People often criticize the MCU for all too serving as propaganda for the military industrial complex (I thought the MCU was moving from that aspect for a while, only for phase 4 to double down on it) and I think a big reason that that aspect usually slips past people’s heads is because the MCU rarely ever takes itself or the sociopolitical themes it tries to tackle seriously and instead opts to focus on quips and jokes.

Secondly… him refer to the as an in-universe work of self parody, an in-universe joke at the people at the bottom of society’s expense… really brings to mind how an entire generation was radicalized by jokes and memes. For the longest time, fascists and fascist-leaning trolls on the internet cloaked their beliefs under the guise of ‘humor’ and ‘irony”. Right up until they had grown their base large enough to actually impact the real world.

With that in mind… I can’t help but wonder how certain people in the marvel universe are reacting to this comic that is supposedly a work of self-parody. I imagine all the people who put thin blue line Punisher skulls on their cars all looked at the page where The Executioner calls down an army of Roxxon crowd control drones to electrocute some protesters (in the interest of good taste, I am not going to post that page) would all applaud that scene on social media, and then immediately walk that back by pointing out the scene where The Roxxin’ “Thor” advertises some Roxxon engine oil and hot sauce scented body gel and saying “what are you getting so upset about? It’s just a joke!” I also imagine Dario himself has his fair amount of simps who act exactly like the Elon Musk fandom in real life and still continue to do so even after the Xemnu debacle from The Immortal Hulk. I imagine they’d all look at the page at the end of the comic where Dario essentially bribes The Roxxin’ “Thor” into doing his bidding and say: “wow! If only the real Thor was more like this!” (Side note, maybe all right-wingers’ and fascists’ craving for a more right-wing version of Thor, ignited by this very comic, is what Amora is actually using to fuel her spell?)

This whole comic feels like it was ripped straight out of The Boys and, in this case, I mean that in a good way.

This is a sideblog, and I follow back from my main @grimmusings. Please direct IMs there, since it's easier for me to keep all my messages on one blog. In general, I follow an MCU timeline with Steve and mix in comics connections/plots as needed, unless specified in an AU verse. All details vary based on verse, and I'm happy to write him into AUs and fandom crossovers. However, I do not include Endgame/Old!Steve in any of my interpretations unless it's a fix-it verse. Regardless of verse, I pretty much always include Steve's Remender comics backstory of an abusive, alcoholic father, but I default on his MCU history with Bucky and transformation into Captain America.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, and I can roll with most muses as far as basic interactions. I'm happy to ship Steve with other Marvel characters and OCs/fandom crossovers based on chemistry, but unless they're on my OTP list, they need plotting and interaction first. There is never any pressure to ship with me, even if they're on my list.

endgame: An MCU verse with any events that take place during the Blip or the second fight with Thanos. The primary verse for Nomad!Steve.

mcu: An MCU verse with any events taking place after Steve comes out of the ice, usually divergent from the above timelines.

alt!postblip: A post-Endgame canon-divergent MCU verse where Steve passes the shield on to Sam and stays in the current timeline like a character who didn’t just undo 3+ movies of development. He’s there to help Bucky and Sam re-adjust to the world post-blip and learn the ropes on being Cap.

616: A mix of 616 and headcanons, typically written for comics muses who don't acknowledge things like the MCU Civil War or Thanos. It may reference other comics events, like the time Steve spent in Kobik's mindscape with Red Skull controlling his body.

multiverse!madness: Various comics universes collide, whether Marvel/DC/etc. have always existed on the same Earth, or other-dimension shenanigans are at work. Duplicate friendly!

alt!tfatws: An MCU AU where Steve returns to the past in an attempt to alter the timeline to keep Bucky from Hydra and Natasha from the Red Room. Instead, he’s captured by the Time Variance Authority and held for four months, until he conspires with Loki to break out. He returns to his own timeline the night of Sam’s Captain America speech.

castaway: An MCU/616 mashup where the events of Castaway in Dimension Z happen two and a half years into the Blip. Steve is abducted to Dimension Z, a twisted sci-fi dimension ruled by Arnim Zola and his mutates. Steve rescues an infant from Zola's lab and raises him as his son, Ian, for ten years on the run, and often ends up in other universes using the multidimensional elevator. Duplicate friendly!

dark!winterverse: An MCU AU where Steve and Bucky both fall from the train and are captured and brainwashed as Winter Soldiers. They work together for decades until Steve starts to regain his memories. (winter!soldier)

earth-3490: A blip comics universe where Steve is married to Natasha Stark (Iron Woman). When he discovers the Winter Soldier file, he takes it to his wife, she has time to adjust to the idea, and the Avengers’ Civil War never happens.

hydra!world: A comics universe set in Earth-85826, where fascist dictator Arnim Zola rules the world with Hydra. Steve Rogers leads an underground resistance alongside the Avengers and his kids, Ian and Ellie Rogers.

superhusbands: An MCU AU where Bucky doesn’t fall from the train in the Alps. Steve catches him, and they go after Red Skull together. They’re both on the Valkyrie when it crashes into the ocean and wake up together seventy years later.

welcome to westview: Roughly a month after Endgame, Steve ventures into Westview to investigate and gets stranded there in a false happily ever after scenario.

what if: For Steve Rogers, the fight with Red Skull for the cube and the the Battle of New York are only two weeks apart. Feeling disillusioned by fighting the same fights and getting nowhere, he looks for other ways to help. When someone jokingly suggests he run for Mayor of New York City, he decides to give it a try, expecting to lose but gain experience. Instead, he wins by a landslide and is started on the path to presidency. (president!rogers)

I've gotten a few requests for a list of Jewish characters to help people brainstorm for the bingo -- just as a reminder, Jewish headcanons and fanons are totally allowed for the event, so if you don't KNOW whether your character is Jewish, it's totally fine to make them Jewish for your fanwork! :)

Thor Odinson had been going through the Nine Realms, doing his best to bring peace and prosperity. He now stood, slightly uncomfortable as the leader of a planet expressed their gratitude to him, thanking him for saving them from what their civilisation had called The Great Danger. He had absorbed much of the energy of an exploding star, and in doing so prevented a black hole forming, thereby saving the planet and their civilisation.  Now they were offering up a ‘payment’ for what they believed to be a debt; an attractive young woman in a thin dress and a collar with her wrists bound. He had tried to turn down the generous offer, but been told if he didn’t accept she would be otherwise ‘sacrificed’. So now he watched as she was lead over to him, trying to hide his concern and discomfort.

The Deities Project: Part 1

An early notion for the Keys & Kingdoms universe was to divide its world into sections ruled by three pantheons, and those would be the historical pantheons of Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology! As it turned out, the 3rd Edition D&D supplement “Deities & Demigods” included stats for those exact three pantheons, and I carefully studied that for guidance on how to reinterpret those legendary pantheons for use in a fantasy world.

And so began this project: drawing all 53 historical deities depicted in that book. Casey Gosselin drew their symbols and Stacy Lord drew the characters themselves. Neither saw the illustrations in the D&D book, but we stuck to what the book claimed as their symbol, their sacred weapon, and very general appearance. The big project lasted from October 2019 to August 2020. Since then, we’ve been putting more research into the real myths and other gods, but these will still form the foundation for the core members of the pantheons and what they’ll look like when the K&K universe begins.

This is an 11-part series presenting all the art anew and talking about the ideas behind it! Presented in the order in which they were done, which is approximately in the order of strongest to weakest according to their rankings in the D&D book. Here’s the most powerful god outside the three kings, Re-Horakhti’s undead father. I wrapped him up like a mummy, dressed him up like a pharaoh beyond that. I like the notion of the bronze wing ornament on his shoulders, think they should look more wingy in the end. His symbol and weapons are a flail and a shepherd’s crook… I think we lost the symbolism there, the crook looks like a nastier weapon than the flail, ought to switch that around to better represent the war-and-peace imagery.

The Mighty Thor! Did my best to disconnect him from the Marvel Comics version. For starters, the mythic version was always a redhead, so that’s easy, and he wore one hell of a beard. More of a savage warrior than most of his fellow Norse, so lightly attired like those of the other pantheons. He has the Chris Hemsworth physique here, but I don’t think that’ll be the right call ultimately - he should be huge. Not necessarily big-bellied like the upcoming “God of War: Ragnarok” version, but along those lines; a weightlifter’s physique. I figure we can stick some way bigger wings on his helmet. His lack of nipples is not a design choice we'll be sticking with, Stacy didn't do that anywhere else, that was just... a one-time thing. And from there, well, a real warhammer is actually quite small, comparable to a modern claw hammer, but… screw that, I think we as a civilization have established by now that fantasy warhammers have gigantic stone block heads that are impossible to lift. Especially Mjolnir.

A few interesting features about Frey in the D&D book - one is that he and his sister Freya, statistics-wise, are listed with the “elf” subtype. Yeah. For some reason, they just are elves, even though they’re gods. No other gods have a specified race like that. That’s kind of interesting. Then again… most of the other gods appear human. Which they do because they were created by humans, but in a fantasy world, it would make more sense for some of these gods to look elven or dwarven or even something else… like I said earlier, the gods will take on different appearances depending on when we see them! And, yeah, Frey and Freya will usually look like elves. More so than here.

And then there’s his sword! First of all: Casey drew an awesome sword. Eh, Casey had a tendency back then to draw weapons with weird proportions, handles too short to hold and blades too short to be of use, not the point! Look at the design on that blade, it’s freakin’ sweet. And Stacy drew the sword as, you know, just blue. Still gorgeous. Now, I bring that up as an interesting point because, in most Norse stories, Frey is a pacifist and carries no weapon - the D&D book states that if your campaign is set way, way pre-Ragnarok, it can be a time before Frey has given up his sword. And, er… I’m finding it hard to reconcile the Norse cosmology, where everyone is pretty confident of where they’ll be during Ragnarok, with the world of Cosmos which… you know… I hope doesn’t ever face a massive apocalypse that leaves most of the gods dead… it’s a hard creative liberty to take. Ragnarok is a big deal.

Lord of death, earth, wealth, lots of “eath” words. Now, I definitely don’t want to cast this guy as a villain. Modern perspective on his actual stories makes that impossible. Still… I would imagine he’s a little self-centered, greedy, covetous - evil in a legal sense, perhaps, but not someone who would hurt innocent people or seek to overthrow Olympus. He’s good where he’s at. And… yeah, I like his design. I wrote it up, and Stacy did it good. Nice details: gray skin like an ashen corpse, pure black eyes, devilish widow’s peak, no eyebrows or mustache, lots of gold. The ram’s head symbol being a profile instead of the usual Satanist front-view… I mean, heck, it might work. Less Satan-y. Hades is not Satan.

Always been a fan of Poseidon myself. I like… oceany things. Casey drew up an awesome symbol, which Stacy replicated for his actual trident - I don’t think we’ll stick with that, I think his symbol will be this elaborate trident head, but the trident he carries will be more of a practical fishing trident. Loving the shade of blue he wears! His suntanned skin, black hair, and lagoon-green eyes are straight out of Percy Jackson, which I didn’t specify, but Stacy clearly detected it. Noice!

Synopsys: She’s shy. He likes her. She likes him. But every time something gets between the ex-Winter Soldier and the cute lab rat that works with Stark. The team has had enough of the pining.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x f!Reader

Warnings: swearing, as per usual, nothing else really. Just some cute lil fluff I wrote (also this is defo not my best work :D)

It was a seemingly ordinary day when the ex-Winter Soldier’s life changed forever.

        Bucky’d plopped down onto the sofa with a disgruntled sigh, making Steve smirk and divert his attention from the show on the TV to his friend.

        “You know, she likes you,” Steve said to Bucky as he sipped on his coffee giving him a side glance.

        Bucky just grumbled and crossed his arms, mind still reeling on the absolute failure that he had experienced earlier that day. It'd been a trainwreck of a mission. No lives lost, but he'd made an absolute fool of himself by making a few bad calls. “Who?”

        “Y/N.”

        “Yeah, as if,” he snorted. “I mean I know she likes me, but she likes everyone. There’s not a single mean bone in her body.”

        “No, I mean,” Steve huffed placing down the cup before he spilt some of it on himself, “she likes you. As in she might want to pursue a relationship with you.”

        Bucky was choking on his spit the second the word ‘relationship’ came out of his friend’s mouth. Y/N? Liked him? As in more than a friend? He’d be lying if he said that thought didn’t send him over the Moon, but it seemed like such a far reach, especially with the interactions they’d had, that he had to give Steve a glare, especially with how she didn’t even give a single sign she might be into him. 

       He raised an eyebrow. “Because you’re the expert on flirting and getting it on?”

        “Wow.” Steve put a hand on his chest in mock hurt. “That’s a low blow. I might’ve not had any game when I was skinny, but let me tell, you after the serum th-“

        “When was the last time you went on a date?” Bucky interrupted his rant.

        His friend broke the eye contact and paused, chewing on his bottom lip before deflecting. “Look that doesn’t matter.”

        Bucky rolled his eyes so much he feared they’d be permanently stuck like that.  

        “What matters is that she likes you, but she’s too shy to do anything about it,” Steve stated.

        “We had a pretty good conversation a couple of hours ago.” They did. If you take saying 'hello', an awkward wave and bashful smiles as a conversation, then yes, it was very successful.

        “Shy doesn’t always mean ‘incapable of holding a conversation’. Shy can mean not talking about how they’re feeling or how their day is because they think no one cares or would get annoyed with them,” Steve said looking over his mug.

        Bucky was baffled. “How – why – how could anyone think she’s annoying? She’s – she’s amazing!” But that’s when it hit him - Y/N never looked him in the eye, she always apologized for talking ‘too much’, and at any point in the conversation, she always diverted the attention away from her or her troubles.

        “So…” Bucky swallowed hard. “You think I should go for it?”

        Steve shrugged. “I think if you don’t, you’ll never know what it could lead to.”

        It was about an hour later after his enlightening chat with Steve that Bucky found himself walking towards where their resident lab rat usually stayed at when he heard muffled cursing.

        “Work, you absolute piece of shit!” Y/N exclaimed each word emphasized with a harsh hit against a machine’s side. “Top-notch technology my ass!”

        “Everything alright, doctor Y/L/N?” His voice was gruff as he interrupted her conversation with the computer. 

Not that Y/N would ever admit it, but usually just his presence alone set her body ablaze, but this time, it was a distraction and not a good one.

        “Just fucking peachy,” she grunted and slammed her hand against the computer with every uttered syllable.

        “Alright,” Bucky chuckled and entered the lab. “What did that poor computer do to you, since you seem so inclined to completely destroy it?”

        “For starters, it decided to shut down,” she growled at the computer, and if it was alive, it would hang its head in shame. “Then, when I rebooted it, the files were not lost, oh that I could live with, but they were corrupted. Meaning I do have them, but they’re useless, and that means I have to redo everything.”

        “You’d have to redo everything if the files were lost either way.” Bucky gave her a small smile, teasing the woman as she whined.

        “Yeah,” Y/N threw back her head. “But it wouldn’t be as humiliating. I mean, if they’re gone, they’re gone, but they aren’t!” She threw the screen a scowl. “The files are there, just sitting… and useless… just like me.”

        “Well, I wouldn’t say you’re useless." Bucky smirked at her, and she sighed.

        “Please, do tell what I’m of use here right now, right this moment.”

        “Company?” It came out more as a question than a statement, and that’s when Y/N realized how much she’d rattled on, how much of his precious world-saving time she’d taken up by a stupid mistake she made.

        “Sorry,” she muttered, shying away from Bucky’s gaze. “Didn’t mean to bore you with my crap.”

        “You don’t bore me. You could never.”

        He had that love-sick look on his face as she gave him a small smile, and her eyes dropped back to the ground. Not that Y/N ever noticed, but Sam never stopped teasing him about that fucking look. The one where his eyes glimmered like stars in the night sky, and his lips involuntarily lifted up in the corners. More than once Steve had to tell him to close his mouth or someone would slip on his drool. And each time, Bucky would slap his friend on the back of his head.

        “I’m not drooling,” he’d contest and go back to watching as Y/N moved around the lab, delicate fingers replacing whatever was fractured in his metal arm.

        “No, saliva just generally spills out of your mouth when she’s around.”

        Bucky would just grunt and say, ‘fuck off’. But he couldn’t help it really. 

        “Anyway." Y/N brought him out of the daydream. “Did you need anything? Is the arm acting up again?”

        Although she'd never think that Bucky had any feelings for her, there was some suspicion rising in her mind. Tony was the acting engineer, but on more than one occasion he had called her up and asked if she was available to take a look at Bucky's vibranium appendage.

        “Need some assistance, sweets,” the genius would mumble, and then when she would slip into work mode, he’d slyly exit the room and leave the two of them alone. And given how Tony knew, Y/N’s primary thing was chemistry and using the nanotech for cell regeneration, not engineering, it raised her suspicion level. Especially when the super-soldier came to her lab to have a check-up on days Tony was out specifically. 

        But she would never do anything about it. He could be standing at the altar with someone else in white walking towards him, and even then, Y/N, knowing it was her last chance, wouldn’t move a muscle to say what she felt. How could she when Bucky was the walking epitome of a Greek God while she tripped over her own feet while standing? For fuck’s sake, the man even fostered puppies in his spare time as if his day job wasn’t saving the world already how could her watching cells split in a petri dish match up to that?

        “Oh, uh,” he stammered fidgeting with his fingers. “No, I uh, actually came to ask you something. Nothing work or arm… related.”

        If Y/N’s heart wasn’t already beating out of her chest, she was pretty certain she’d vomit it up with the way he was looking at her. “Sure,” she whispered. “Umm, what do you want to know?”

        He twisted a ring on his flesh arm. She had gotten it for him two years ago during a game of ‘Secret Santa’, which Tony promptly had added her to the list. It made her feel all fuzzy and warm on the inside for being included, but then dread settled in. What the fuck do you get a bunch of superheroes that could afford literally anything they wanted? And then she’d pulled Bucky’s name from the tacky Santa’s hat.

        It wasn’t bad enough he was her crush, now she had to get him a gift he’d actually like, and she could barely hold a conversation with him that didn’t involve Avengers stuff. But from the looks of it, he had enjoyed the jewellery immensely, as any time he came over for whatever reason, he was wearing it. He liked it so much there was a lighter line of skin underneath the ring where the sun couldn’t get.

        But the words wouldn’t come out of his mouth. Bucky just froze as Y/N stared at him with hopeful and inquisitive eyes. All the things he wanted to say and ask just vanished from his brain as if he’d been put back into that horrible machine that used to wipe his mind.

        “Buck?” Her voice was small as his mouth hung open like an idiot. But he didn’t even get a chance to collect himself when Bruce rushed in.

        “Sorry to interrupt whatever this is, but Y/N I need you. There’s a problem with the cradle.”

        And that was her cue. With an apologetic smile, she pulled off her latex gloves and rushed out of the room, but not before leaning back in through the door. “Hopefully I should be done in two hours tops. Raincheck on that question?”

        Bucky shook his head. “You know what, it wasn’t that important anyway.”

        Y/N furrowed her eyebrows, hand reaching out to touch him, but he pushed past her and was gone, leaving the woman a bit stunned, and in all honesty - heartbroken.

        The rest of the day she spent in utter confusion, and Bucky in self-wallowing. Y/N couldn’t understand what had changed his mind so suddenly, what she’d done so wrong, and Bucky beat himself up the whole time about choking and running away. Which is why Steve was absolutely done with it.

        As Bucky sulked on the couch, stuffing his face with M&Ms and the pop tarts he’d stolen from Thor’s stash, Steve with Natasha, Clint, Tony, Bruce and Y/N in tow, all came into the room. 

        Seeing her lab coat swish behind her as she walked, Bucky slid down into the couch even more, as if the granite gray leather could absorb him and erase him from existence. God, how he wanted to be erased from existence. 

        “Hey, Y/N?” Tony drew everyone’s attention as he handed a coffee to her. “Would you mind taking a look at F.R.I.D.A.Y’s intercom system? She’s gotten a bit rusty here.”

        “Umm yeah.” She nodded, kinda confused as to why she'd have to do it, but Tony was her boss, so Y/N rarely asked him much. Unless something he said was absolutely dumb. “Mind getting me a ladder?”

        With a wink from Steve, Clint nodded. “Sure.”

        But instead of just him leaving, all of the Avengers slowly started to ‘disperse’ throughout the living-room, before bolting towards the hallway and telling the A.I. to shut everything down.

        “What’s going on?” Y/N asked looking around the common room, spotting the bright fiery hair of Natasha as she rushed out of the room, asking F.R.I.D.A.Y to override the lock code and not let either of them out. “Why are the doors locked?”

        The smug smile she received from the assassin only infuriated Y/N more. “Tony!” she yelled through the glass, but the genius put hands over his ears and screamed back at her.

        “Not until he talks to you!”

        That’s when she felt someone towering over her from behind. 

Two beautiful Y/E/C eyes looked up at him as Y/N turned around, confusion swimming in her irises. Bucky almost swore he passed out just from that look alone. 

“Buck, what’s going on?"

        The second he’d seen the group walk in, he knew what was happening. He wanted to murder all of them. Rip them apart piece by piece, but not in front of Y/N. No. He’d do that in the middle of the night, blending into the shadows and delivering slow and painful deaths to all of the conspirators. 

        But at the same time, this was his chance. There was literally nowhere for either of them to run unless you counted jumping out through the window and the ninety-story drop, you’d face. Which seemed very appealing to him at that moment, but Steve’s words rang through his head – ‘You’ll never know what it could lead to.” And he hoped it would lead to something beautiful, so taking a deep breath, Bucky confessed.

        “Because I’m a coward…” he sighed, “and I can’t do it without someone telling me to.”

        “Why?”

        “I’m scared,” it came out as a whisper, and Y/N had to take a step back hurt flashing across her face thinking back to all of the times they’d spent together, while in truth Bucky’d been terrified of her.

        “Of me?”

        Instantly he shook his head seeing the pain on her features, and once more Bucky scolded himself. “No… of what your reaction might be.”

        “Buck, you know I would never judge you. You can always talk to me… about anything.”

        “Yes, but this will change things.”

        “How?”

        “I don’t know… that’s what I’m scared of. I don’t want to lose you.”

        “Never. You could tell me you’re hiding a body in the tub, and I would offer you my help to get rid of it.”

        And it was this firm statement that solidified his decision.

        “Would you maybe,” Bucky exhaled deeply not daring to turn and look at the team that was gawking at both of them like hawks pressed against the glass, the same team that had bolted shut every door and window to prevent either of theirs escapes, “would you maybe want to go out… with… me… on a date?”

        Y/N was stunned. The cup of coffee she was still holding in her hand went slack, and it would’ve smashed against the ground had Bucky not quickly stepped forward and caught it stepping to stand in front of her.

        “You don’t have to,” he mumbled, looking at the milk infused drink. It was a light beige colour with a white foamy swirl in the middle like a little vortex that was sucking him in. God did he hope it would pull him in and never let out after what he was going to say. “It’s just that… I really like you.” There. Now it was out there. “I really like you. And not the way a friend likes a friend. I like you in a way that I want to hold your hand when we walk out together. I want to buy you coffee in the mornings and wake you up with breakfast in the bed and smooth out the hair that’s fallen on your face…”

        She wasn’t breathing as with every single word said Bucky seemed to move closer. “I think I might be in love with you, Y/N…” his hand gently lifted and cupped her cheek.

        She just stared at him, mouth slightly agape, shallow breaths escaping into the air as her heart beat out of her chest in a manner, she thought it might hit Bucky directly in the stomach. 

        “Say something,” he pleaded, blue eyes searching for an answer in Y/N’s Y/E/C ones. “Please.”

        “I – I don’t know what to say,” she whispered back. And it wasn’t because she didn’t feel the same, not at all. In fact, when he had started his whole confession, she felt like she was about to pass out from all the love that invaded her body, but the thing is - Y/N has never been good with emotions. She never knew how to process them, how to give the correct answer and make people happy. She was shy, awkward and a recluse. And now she was supposed to come out of her safety shell. Which is why for the first time in her life, she expressed herself with her actions by leaning up, grasping onto the nape up Bucky’s neck and pulling their mouths together.

        When her lips touched his, Bucky knew there was no going back. Not that he’d ever want to. He couldn’t help the giant smile that bloomed on his face, as he pulled Y/N closer to him, wrapping his arm one around her waist, the other trailing up to settle between her shoulder blades, pushing their chests together, so impossibly close an ant couldn’t crawl between the two. 

        It became even more of a beautiful moment when Y/N’s own lips pulled up in a smile, breaking the kiss apart, but leaving them grinning and feeling dizzy from the happiness. 

        “Guess we needed a gentle nudge in the right direction,” Bucky gave out a small laugh, both palms securely resting on Y/N’s hips and bringing her closer.

        “I’d say it was more of a shove with a rifle at our backs,” she said, holding onto Bucky’s shoulders fingers skimming against his clavicles and making his breath stop halfway to his throat. “Let’s… let’s go somewhere… the two of us without a bunch of people watching our every move.” Her eyes flitted over to where the rest of the team stood behind the doors listening in on the two, and suddenly the heads of their teammates disappeared from the view, making Y/N and Bucky shake their heads.

        “Yeah,” he chuckled, squeezing her side. “That’s probably the best idea. You truly are a dream, aren’t ‘ya?”

        Y/N could only chuckle and hide her face in the crook of Bucky’s neck as her hold tightened around his middle, and he responded much the same by weaving his fingers in the hairs on the back of her neck and pulling her closer if that was even possible, burying his nose in the Y/H/C locks.

        “Don’t go all shy on me now.”

        “Can’t,” she mumbled back. “You make me turn into mush.”

        Bucky chuckled, pressing a kiss to Y/N’s forehead. “A cute mush.”

        “Shut up!”

And he did by pulling her in for another searing kiss. God, how he loved his shy girl.

REQUIRE LEVEL 8 ACCESS   ...   ENCRYPTING   ...   ACCESS GRANTED  :   PERMANENT PLOTTING CALL FOR WCRLDLIAR.      hi everyone!  this is a permanent plotting call,    the only plotting call this blog will have,    as to combat my own    ...   incapacity ( ? ) because i’m generally not a very good first-time plotter.   what does this mean ?   this usually means,   i’m much better at just throwing our muses into a random situation,   and then once i’ve seen the chemistry from thereon,   only then would i be able to plot more thoroughly with my partners.

obviously,   this method cannot work any longer due to various of reasons.   one of the main ones are the fact that mcu has clearly expanded so much beyond what i can consume   —    both from the fact that i mentally tied the knot of the mcu world when  endgame  ended,   and the fact that real life affair became more significant thereafter that i no longer kept up [with mcu as religously]   —   and i understand that many characters have moved beyond that point in endgame.

as stated in my rules,  i’m trying to catch up on the series and movies which i’ve missed beyond endgame,  just so i can have a clearer picture on where maria stands generally.  so here,  i’ll state whatever i’ve watched and what i’m planning to watch to establish what i have an idea on,  and what i don’t.  this will clearly be updated with each new mcu show and/or film that i’m consuming:

with that said,  due to my hectic schedule irl and me still having to combat my inability to casually have plotting calls without stressing myself out,  i’d like to establish this one permanent plotting call for those roleplaying partners who are plot-driven,  or those who needed to plot before any interaction could occur  ( example being that you may be a 616 interpretation of the character,  or you write a thoroughly canon divergent of said character etc ).  for whatever reason it may be,  i do not want you to feel like you’re left out once we do follow each other.

SPECIAL NOTE   ...     this can also apply to long-time rp partners though.  if you guys want to goof around with a new concept,  or a new writing idea,   or a hell of an AU,  you know what to do.   i’m already waiting.

Hello! Thank you for enjoying my tag, and for giving me a really pleasant walk down memory lane, as I just went through the tag to find some fics to rec!

Disclaimer: I am not actually IN all of the fandoms for these recs, so if you want to go exploring the original canon or fandom proceed with caution as I have no idea what's out there in them hills.

It's really hard for me to pull together a GOOD, COHERENT rec list for subby murderbot fic, because (1) I have been a fan of this trope for a good long time, and I simply cannot be arsed to go through over three thousand pages of bookmarks because I get distracted and start re-reading, and (2) there isn't a clear tag for it on ao3? And I understand why not, because it's hard to distinguish between "this is a character dynamic in the text" and "this is a kinky fic I am writing specifically for physical kink purposes." And THEN there are the fics where those two overlap!

So...*waves hands helplessly* I tried?

If you are looking very specifically for fealty-related femdom stuff, I made a not-so-giant femdommy fic rec list here a couple years ago, it's a good starter. It could probably use some updating at this point, but I have well over three thousand bookmarks on ao3 and...well...see above.

Tbh, I'm just going to link my AO3 bookmarks and accept that this may lose me a GREAT deal of respect from some of you pr0nbots who thought I was Better Than That (TM) for some of the stuff in there (spoilers: i am NOT and i AM embarrassed about it). Search "Dom/Sub" or "Light dom/sub" or "Fealty" or even just "BDSM" and you'll probably turn up a bunch of fics from different fandoms. Since authors don't always tag themes, you can also use the "Search within results" bar as well as the tags search, which might net you more results.

You could just search my Helen Wick tag - most of my John Wick stuff tags end up being vaguely kinky anyway. Sadly, not a whole lot of subby John Wick fic out there, but hope springs eternal I suppose!

The Clocktaur Verse is a fantasy book series by T. Kingfisher that I HIGHLY recommend as far as subby, respectful murderbot paladins!

@astolat's fics are always quality, but @fahye made a definitive astolat fealty rec list! I haven't read the merlin, thor/loki, and stargate fics because I don't happen to be in those fandoms, but I CANNOT recommend enough "And I Alone Have Escaped to Tell You," because despite the fact that it's forkin' Transformers, I have never ever read another fic that gets literal "subby murderbot second-in-command" quite so well. "Duende" from Master & Commander is also very good, although neither of them is precisely what I would call "subby."

@theragnarokd's Person of Interest fics on ao3 are incredible, as is the series they wrote with maculategiraffe, which is ALL about fealty. In fact, Person of Interest in general as a fandom is pretty rich for subby murderbot content, since the main character is an archetypal subby murderbot. astolat has a GREAT POI collection.

I would highly recommend Jupiter Ascending, a glittering ridiculously fantastic space angel werewolf of a movie where the male love interest is a literal dog soldier. Generally, anything written for Jupiter/Caine in the Jupiter Ascending fandom is choice subby murderbot content. I am also, shamefully, several years into a hiatus for a JA fic of my own.

Leverage is another fandom with a subby murderbot in it, but since Eliot Spencer is also a lot of other things not all of the fic involving him focuses on that dynamic. One of my oldest bookmarks is "Before Red Cape and Foil" by egelantier and somebraveapollo, which is a crossover with a fandom I don't go to but you don't need to be familiar to enjoy the whump. The Rope Studio AU by synteis is also good, if sadly unfinished. In fact, the first couple pages of my Leverage bookmarks should be a good resource.

I really, honestly don't think I can get much better than just shoving all of my thousands of ao3 bookmarks at people (I should start using bookmarker's tags someday (ㆆ_ㆆ)), but I PROMISE that somewhere in that mess is a bunch of subby murderbot and subby murderbot AU content! Just... a little buried in the slush.

So this verse will be anything relating to Steve prior to taking the serum. Probably mostly before the film is set. This will also be the dump tag for anything au until I sort out a tag for our au. But you can definitely talk to me about anything relating to this verse. I’m sure I will have a lot sorted out down the line.

So this verse is for any muse that is specifically set during this time or any muse that would like to do a verse with Steve set during the time of the series. Steve has definitely been retired since Endgame in this verse as with most Phase4 based verses. The general public probably has no idea what happened to him and yes the rumors are that he’s on the moon which is really just a gag someone started on the internet. Probably a meme gone wrong. He is still youthful in appearance and is single and unattached in any way to anyone. Depending on plot needs, Steve can take a role in the plot involving John Walker as Captain America and the shift from John to Sam as Steve definitely intended for Sam to take the shield and not John. He would not be a fan of John whatsoever and you can pry that from my cold and dead hands. Steve in this verse is more of a secondary or underlying presence and won’t actively join the action/fighting unless he is asked or the plot lends to it in the way that Steve is worried about Sam or Bucky or Sharon. He will not be kind to Zemo if there are Zemo and Steve interactions and I would say that he will be aggressive towards John especially after what he did with the shield. Steve gave the shield to Sam because Sam knew what it meant and how to wield it properly for the right reasons. He saw a lot of good in Sam and that he could change the world for the better, in ways that he hadn’t, and probably couldn’t during his tenure as Cap. So he is not going to be on board with anyone else having the shield, especially someone the government cherry picked as his replacement. 

You mean he’s not on the moon? ~ post endgame

So this is essentially my post endgame verse for Steve that is open to everyone who doesn’t want to go into my main verse. If you have expressed wanting to ship in any capacity or filled out the interest tracker with it as a possibility ( but not specified a verse ) then I will likely place you here. Steve is retired, living quietly off the grid, in a nice enough cabin that I will get pictures together of once I find something that fits. He’s not fighting or doing anything related to the Avengers anymore ( unless it’s lending to the plot in some way ) and is mostly spending his time volunteering to work with veterans, leading some group therapy sessions, and creating some various foundations to work with veterans and their mental health. He’s also not much of a writer in his opinion, but with all the books about his life that got most of it wrong he’s read, so far. He’s decided to start on his autobiography which he knows he has plenty of time to complete with his lifespan. But it is still sort of a daunting task.

This is a verse where everything that happened in the mcu aside from any divergences that I usually take happened. Except in Wakanda, Thor went for the head instead of the gauntlet, and Thanos was defeated. No one snapped. There was no Endgame. Tony and Nat did not die nor did Steve return to the past. The team is still a unit and he and Tony are working through what happened in Siberia while they rebuild anything lost in the destruction of Thanos’ efforts. Willing to play this verse as a variant meaning that Steve can cross over to the canon mcu timeline if you are not wanting this to be your characters canon. But you still want to use the verse with him.

disclaimer: I havent watched this show in full for like 5 months at least, probably gonna get something wrong and/or forget some more important bits. also this wasnt proof read I just word vomited

going from least to most prominent queer characters, let's start with mylene cruz!

so, from the beginning of this show she has an established romantic relationship with ezekiel (although the status of their actual relationship changes frequently throughout the show) and though this was a relationship she was hesitant to pursue, it is clear that she does have romantic feelings for him and if not for them both having growing careers in very different music genres (zeke specifically working in a genre that she repeatedly labels as bad because she thinks they're ruining records + that it isnt real music because they're using someone elses piece and rapping over it, that's not really important here tho lol) they probably wouldve had a much healthier, smooth sailing romance. that being said theres a few things that happen in the show that, while not explicitly clear, or even really good coding at that—to the point where you wont catch if you really arent looking for it (and trust me, I always look for coding, hers was just so little that it flew over my head until I saw someone else mention it)—are still cool to think about!

so, for starters, I wanna mention the toy box performance, which was performed by mylene and regina, who are best friends. that's all cool and shit, and you dont really think much about it...until you hear about the fact that the show runners purposely colored a lot of the scenes in that performance with the bi colors. like. the writers after the show ended basically said "oh yeah there was plans to make her coding more explicit, but our shit got cancelled soooo" and then dropped the fact that she was gonna be bi (or at least implies bi) in the series, which puts a new twist on a few things.

now, besides the bi coloring in the background of the toy box performance (which was mostly on scenes with her and regina, which involved a lot of uh,, lowkey lewd dancing. with each other. in very revealing outfits. wooooo), there's her music! I dont tend to read too much into this one bc, like I said before, her coding is fucking light and the writers themselves said they didnt really get to do much with it, but I think some stuff with her music is interesting. specifically how her, yolanda and regina's song set me free blew up because dizzee, resident (lowkey enby coded) bicon, got their song played in a queer club. also that the song was majorly important to dizzee and started playing literally right as he kissed a boy for the first time and realized "oh shit I like boys that's bonkers". also that the song can be taken in a gay way since literally the entire thing is about becoming your true self, fully and unapologetically, which is what both dizzee and mylene's entire character arcs are about. dizzee (and a lot of other queer people, apparently), heard this song about being set free and it resonated with them so much that they got that shit most of its popularity.

speaking of dizzee and mylene, they parallel each other a lot in the way that their arcs are about them realizing who they are, coming into themselves and no longer just letting people treat them like shit in a sense (dizzee starting to tell people essentially that they can call him weird all they want, they can make fun of how he acts, what he likes, how he dresses, etc. but he likes how he is and quite literally saying "it's okay to be an alien" as he has consistently compared himself to one throughout the show vs mylene learning that if she wants to be a disco singer she needs to put her foot down, not let anyone, not even the love of her life, not even her abusive father, stop her from achieving her dreams, etc. and continuing to pursue her career with or without their support). one more little parallel that I think is interesting is during I think s2 towards the end of the show is when dizzee and thor are shown together having fun with each other, painting all over the building and each other and are basically just being happy and in love together and then they have these clips of them being interspersed with clips of mylene at a party where she is starting to realize that if she wants to get anywhere she needs to be her own main priority and that she needs to put her career and her dream, which is what makes her the happiest, above all else if she wants to succeed. idk I just think how the show made these two into a weird parallel, accidental or not, is neat. maybe not an explicitly queer parallel, but I think at least how her music and whatnot helped dizzee, the main queer character in this show, blossom, is important.

moving on we got shaolin fantastic also known as "oh no your internalized homophobia is showing-"

so, heres a quick list of...interesting shao facts:

Consistently referred to as fag/faggot (shaolin fanfaggot is my personal favorite); he gets really defensive about this despite nobody actually thinking he's queer, it's just people being assholes to be assholes, and he is the only character consistently referred to using a slur, especially a homophobic one, especially for a "straight" character. dizzee, a canonically queer character, is called a fag less than shaolin is even though dizzee actively goes to gay clubs, has a not so secret dude he "hangs out with" and wont let anyone properly meet, paints his nails, wears less than straight clothes even by the 70s standards and is just all around the definition of fucking queer (and I mean like in the weird way, not the gay way). in fact theres only like once I can remember him being called a fag and it had nothing to do with him actually being gay it was literally just like thrown out there the same way you would call someone a bitch.

Has only shown sexual interest in women, yet refuses to have deeper relationships with women in general (possibly because of trauma but who knows) but takes his relationships with his "brothers", specifically zeke, very seriously

Tells zeke and zeke ONLY his real name when zeke was planning to stop being his friend bc shao more or less got boo boo, a like 14 year old black kid, arrested for selling hard drugs; he was clearly scared and trying to do anything to keep zeke around, literally chasing him down the street and hounding him until he got zeke to stop and argue with him

Kept threatening to beat up zeke in the end but couldn't actually bring himself to do so, instead saying that zeke is "fucking lucky" before walking away

Let's zeke get away with things that nobody else can, in general just has a weird soft spot for ezekiel that he shows with nobody else

when shao found dizzee with thor in a vaguely compromising situation (like they were just shirtless covered in paint sleeping next to each other but shao had also seen everything they painted on the walls ((which some of it was sus)), it was clear they had painted on each others bodies and dizzee had been routinely disappearing with this guy for weeks now yet not producing nearly as much art, at least, as far as we audience members know) he didnt judge him but instead, waited for him to get cleaned up and then told him something along the lines of "theres a reason why im so secretive blah blah blah [not everyone needs to know everything about me]", which, in context, kinda implies that he might be a lil. a lil homiesexual. jus a lil.

whenever even the possibility of zeke leaving him comes up he absolutely loses it. he has literally cost ezekiel life changing opportunities because he thought zeke would just up and leave him for them. this could be abandonment issues bc he's a severely traumatized character, and that probably does contribute to it, but it also is just not a reaction he has to any of their other friends just randomly dipping in and out of his life soooooo

generally speaking, this mfer has got either bisexual with a big hard on for zeke coding or homosexual with terrible internalized homophobia and still a hard on for zeke coding. either fucking way, that nigga gay. he gay as hell. gay as fuck man. there wasn't really much to analyze here tbh bc the coding is just so fucking obvious if you look for it or you are/have been a gay person who's dealt with at least a little bit of internalized homophobia.

also, just a sidenote, idk how fucking old shao, but I'm praying hes like at max 19 bc I'm pretty sure zeke is a minor in this show and shao definetly is not so the whole him being heavily implied to have a crush on ezekiel thing is kinda. oof. not oof if zeke is like 17 but any younger than that? OOF.

edit: apparently the characters are only supposed to be a year apart in age but i had no clue about that before writing this post and since shaos age was never actually stated in the show i naturally assumed he was an adult since his actor Looks Like An Adult. this is definetly on me to a certain extent, but i also never saw anything about this when trying to find our their ages so 🤷‍♀️ maybe i just didnt look deep enough, sorry!

now moving on to the main event...marcus dizzee kipling :]

so, first things first, let's talk enby coding bc him being bisexual was already confirmed!

um, to start off, I just wanna say I dont think this enby coding was intentional or even really coding, it's just moreso me being a dizzee kin on main and knowing as a transmasc enby he has very transmasc enby vibes. for example:

cool, gender neutral nickname that everyone calls him

paints nails various different colors

the whole wardrobe is just a transmasc enby heaven...fishnet shirts, jean overalls, jackets and cuffed pants galore, the big colorful pins, etc

gender neutral hairstyle (when I had my fro it was very sexy and made it easy to transition between hyper masc and vaguely fem, which is pog)

comparing himself to/representing himself consistently with an alien character (though this is meant to represent his sexuality, it could also double as a gender thing too, not neccesarily bc of the whole nonbinary alien trope but bc an enby who likes aliens might heavily identify or compare themselves to whatever their idea of an alien is, whether that just be a genderless entity or a motherfucker with fly style and no need to be perceived as anything other Wacky As Hell)

moving on from there, let's talk about how his queerness is presented to us and how, while it may be a really good piece of representation, especially coming from netflix, it still lacks in A Lot of places.

so, let's start with good things!

i personally really like the get down's queer rep with dizzee bc it's (for the most part) nonsexualized and very very soft, about dizzee figuring himself out and realizing there is a place where he fits in, and about two teenagers in the 70s falling in love over their shared passion for street art. it also features an interracial couple where both boys challenge stereotypes both about queer men and men of color, which is epic poggers and very sexy. this piece of rep specifically is very important to me bc I am a queer black person and even tho interracial relationships are mostly normalized now, I've still had people give me shit for primarily dating white people in a town that is...primarily white lol

mm anyways, I can also appreciate how in the get down, dizzee being represented by rumi the alien is not a thing specifically related to gender (as it often is) and instead is about his sexuality and just in general weirdness and how it has led to him being alienated amongst his peers, poc or otherwise. him seeing himself as an alien is not about just his queerness, which is important, it is about him being a queer black man who talks different, acts different, dresses different and is "soft"—he isnt a walking black male stereotype and he wouldnt have been seen as masculine back in the 70s by any stretch of the imagination. this can be relatable to a wide spectrum of queer poc, from queer black men currently who still have to deal with this shit or to people like myself who are afab neurodivergent mixed race enbies that have always been signaled out as weird and alienated for it. dizzee is god rep bc while he has a small part in this show, his parts are very impactful, hard hitting and show queer poc of all ages that they arent alone and that it's okay to "weird", you just need to embrace it because somebody will love you for you, as thor did for dizzee.

that being said theres um. some minor problemas here,,,

namely:

dizzee and thors first kiss

the lack of development this pairing got

the way dizzee was confirmed bisexual off screen, he never said the words himself, just showed interest in both genders

the way dizzee and thor were never even confirmed boyfriends or just fwb so most of the fandom just calls them boyfriends bc Why Not

dizzee was implied fucking DEAD??? AT THE END OF THE SERIES?????? AND THOR WAS IMPLIED ARRESTED?????????????

now, these might have been things that wouldve been fine had the show been given it's full run but it wasnt which is why we are now left with probelms.

so, from the top, let's go over these: dizzee and thor's first (and only "on screen") kiss was one that was shown in a montage of other queer people making over and doing other vaguely romantic/sexual things, one of those things being a whole ass naked titty being mouthed at, but the actual kiss...was just not shown? like they really did just say "yes they kissed <3 you know this from the context clues of it being in a montage with kissing, hickey giving and titty sucking <3 but no we will not show it <3" LIKE HELLO? I SAW A NAKED BOOBIE BUT NOT TWO MEN KISS??? HUH????????

also, dizzee and thor were both fucking high as hell during this bit like this isnt a terrible thing but it's also like sometimes you do shit when you're high that you wouldnt do sober and they just never kissed again on screen so like?? like idk that's not that bad but it does kinda irk me since they deadass got no other on screen intimacy after that unless you including painting on eacher other or sleeping next to each other on a shitty mattress but not touching at all during it bc they were both at opposite ends of the mattress like half way off it

so yeah, that was trash. then we got lack of development, which kinda goes with the "dizzee being a bisexual but he never says it in canon" thing cause like...okay dizzee was already sort of a side character from the get go like he wasnt the mc by any means, but he became way more of a background character as things continued until we basically only saw him for performances or when he was with thor, yet they got no fucking development as a pairing other than "dizzee realize he gay, he like thor, he and thor spend time together and ig probably do some gay stuff but we dont really know bc we only ever see them do graffiti together now" like?? tf am I supposed to do with that shit. answer. quickly. and then theres dizzee not being confirmed bisexual, which is just a running problem with shows literally doing everything to say a character is bi except for having the character just...say they're bi? which would be so easy? like a good way dizzee and thor couldve had some development is by thor teaching dizzee things about the queer community that he didnt even know existed, thor couldve helped him understand what being bi meant and helped him label himself and whatnot but instead we got an off screen confirmation that the writers had bisexual in mind when writing him. which is garbagé.

the whole thor and dizzee never having a confirmed relationship status is also a development problem cause like literally nobody knows if they were just friends who made out, maybe fucked, who knows, or if they were dating bc dizzee does give a love confession but a love confession doesn't mean there is a relationship, especially since thor didn't say he was in love either (as far as I remember, I could be wrong, plus whether or not that really happened or was apart of dizzee literally overdosing during a performance is unclear so 🤪)

and now for the biggest issue...bury your gays trope.

during the season 2 finale, dizzee and thor are chased by cops after they are found doing graffiti, one of the cops is able to catch thor while the other chases dizzee into a train tunnel and there is a train seen headed straight for him before the show cuts to black on a train horn. the show writers claim that if they had gotten another season, dizzee wouldve been alive but since they didnt and since that's essentially super fan trivia knowledge, most people dont fucking know that and instead had to watch a black queer teenager chose death over being fucking arrested by a white cop. on top of that, thor didnt see any of that shit because he was caught and the cop started hauling him off while dizzee was still being chased so thor literally has no clue where his friend/possible boyfriend fucking is or that he's likely dead in a goddamn tunnel all alone, unless you count the fucking pig that chased him in there who wouldve died too. this shows rep was so fucking good as far as most shows go on not having major fucking problems, on not being toxic and over sexualized, etc, etc. and then they just. killed a black queer teenager for no fucking reason. like it was literally the last episode ever, it would add nothing to the plot, it would just devastate fans and devastate it fucking did. I dont cry easy but seeing a character I identified with, who I had hyperfixated on, die because he'd rather that than be arrested is terrible. it fucking sucked.

so yeah. that's my all too extensive thoughts/analysis on the get down's queerness. theres definitely stuff I missed, or misinterpreted, or looked too much into, etc, etc., but this was a fun thing to spend time writing sooo yeah!! thanks for the ask anon, sorry this was just a big rambley info dump, but hopefully you get some enjoyment out of it since it took like 3 hours at least 😭😭 feel free to ask clarifying questions lol

Where everything is highly complicated and everything offends something. Like even the nick name “doll” your friends heard him call you that and you LOVE IT! But your friends jumped on his back saying you aren’t a object and you agreed you aren’t but you also agreed that Nothing sounds better then him calling you “Doll” or sweetheart. Bucky quickly apoglized as you had too tell him if he stopped calling you Doll you would be mad.

it’s been a Long two weeks. Steve, Bucky, Nat, Hawkeye, Wanda and the kid Peter were on mission in Russia. You knew that they would be safe. I mean four outta six have superpowers. And you know Nat can protect herself and she’s a badass and she scares everyone and then thier was Hawkeye he was a basically a god with a arrow so you weren’t worried. But two weeks without Bucky was tough!

the Only people who knew about your relationship with Bucky was your friends who are not involved in the “Avenger” life mainly cause they don’t even know who your dad is. It was two different worlds and with your friends and Bucky you can be a regular couple no one questions it.

But if the Avengers KNEW!

If they knew Everyone would have questions, Nat would be supportive, Wanda would want too talk about how it happened. Tony would. Ask completely inappropriate questions , Steve would be silent but supportive. Vision wouldn’t care, But Bruce!
