This cool artist's home in Houston, Texas is amazing. It has the artist's house/studio, guest quarters, a vintage Airstream, and 4 rental studios. The house has 3bd 3ba and the entire property is priced at $925K. It's so unique, it already has a pending sale. You gotta see this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We will begin in the house and studio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is so nice, it can be adapted for any kind of business.
Tumblr media
Shower room in the studio.
Tumblr media
It would be nice if they left that cool art, but I doubt they will.
Tumblr media
Look at this sweet little pace at the top of the stairs. It's so narrow, though- one misstep and you could fall to the floor below.
Tumblr media
The kitchen's kind of DIY, but it's artsy.
Tumblr media
Nice cozy modern living room.
Tumblr media
The bedroom is cool, too. I guess they'd leave the fan, but I like that hanging metal shelf unit.
Tumblr media
Vintage rustic bath is cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interior of one of the rental studio units.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Outdoor area for the residence.
Tumblr media
Deck in front of the rental studios.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wish they would've shown the interior of the Airstream.
Tumblr media
The property, surrounded by trees, is 0.5 acre.

Nude Hiking!
So a friend of mine just bought a GIANT plot of land, like 100 acres and invited me to see the place and for some nude hiking. I've always wanted to try it but didn't want to shock anyone along the way so this was the perfect opportunity. I don't have many pictures cuz 1) I had no pockets 🤷‍♂️ and 2) I don't think I'm comfortable yet to be posting anything like that, even if it were legal on here. I did see a shit ton of blackberries as usual here in August though and made sure to take a pic of that before leaving my stuff behind. (Yes I could have brought a backpack but I wanted the full exp.) A few things I learned from it: -Shoes are amazing! We were barefoot around the stream to go for a dip and the rocks around it'll cut you up real quick. -Sweat is SO efficient when you're naked omg. Sweating isn't bad at all, it's the clothing that's making it suck! -Be on the extra-lookout for thorns! 😬 All in all it was a good time, would do again. Now if only he'd let me put a tiny home on like 0.5 acres of that 100. That place was HUGE!! We needed to be in his Jeep for most of it and where traveling and hiking around for a couple of hours. I don't think he'd notice if I moved in even if he came by every weekend. I hope all of you get a chance to get naked in nature before summer ends.

The articles are here and here.
From the second one: “In 1910, Black farmers owned more than 16 million acres of land, according to experts. In 2017, when the most recent agricultural census was done, that figure was just 4.7 million acres, about 0.5% of all farmland.” The value estimate is for “1920 and 1997 in the 17 states where almost all Black-owned farms were documented.”
They concluded the article with: “A Biden administration effort to provide debt relief to farmers of color as part of the American Rescue Plan Act, framed as repair for past USDA discrimination, is currently stalled in court after white farmers argued it was discriminatory.”
Tumblr media
“People of color,” “BIPOC,” whatever "of color” is harmful and they know it 😒. When there is a specific thing that deeply affects Black Americans, they love to shoehorn “POC” or “Black and brown” just to make everyone feel included even tho it’s not their fight nor does it affect them. God forbid if Black Americans finally receive restitution for this country’s unpaid debts towards us huh... Lump everyone in 🙌🏽... This is how things never benefit Black Americans, but others...if anything is actually done...
Just how Biden shoehorned in Native Americans (italicized for the Dawes Rolls $5 Indians) as a stipulation when it comes to Black Americans (despite our lineage reflecting American Indian descent through the US census records going as far back to the 1500s and those oral familial tribe stories generationally passed down) finally receiving federal and state reparations for chattel slavery and lost land, and federal and state-sanctioned laws that created and still heavily piles atop the the centuries deep wealth disparity between Black Americans and white Americans/others immigrating in.
Tumblr media
So why was the land seized? You know why. But for clarity:
- It’s more profitable for stolen land from Black Americans now headed by white farmland owners (to generate more wealth disparity in favor of white wealth) and Latino farmland owners to enlist cheap (illegal) labor through Latino farming in America. Just as with carpentry. This was originally filled with Black Americans who built this country and their descendants soon became less sought after to keep the monetary payout low. Trading places. Cheaper (illegal) labor. This is where you insert mass immigration which leads to food insecurity 🙃 and land disparity 🙃 for new residents. Mass immigration has never/will never benefit any country.
- White South Africans have been coming over here displacing Black American farmers in states like Mississippi. A continuation into the wealth and land disparity. They’ve been in court for a minute where Black farmers are suing in regards environmental racism (pay disparity, benefits they weren’t allowed to receive, accommodation disparity where white South African acquired rent free housing, racial slurs; the works). South Africa is even keeping track.
Tumblr media
- Bill Gates and his now ex-wife, Melinda, quietly became the largest individual farmland owners in the United States. How is this allowed? You know how and why.
Tumblr media
- “China is buying up American farms. Washington wants to crack down. By the start of 2020, Chinese owners controlled about 192,000 agricultural acres in the U.S., worth $1.9 billion, including land used for farming, ranching and forestry, according to the Agriculture Department.” This isn’t unfamiliar territory for a number of countries in Africa who’s seeing the same happen in their countries .
There’s a lot that goes into undermining an ethnic group. These are just a few. Meanwhile people say all we do is complain and look for (non-existent) handouts. Comedy...

blog intro i guess
hello everyone, this is a side blog unrelated to my main or secondary blogs. in an ideal world, Simple Song is my personal growth and sustainability efforts. I don't know where these efforts will lead, i don't even know if they'll get off the ground, but I have plans.
Plan the First;
get meat rabbit breeding pair or trio.
raise meat rabbit kits to maturity to have food for myself, my dog, and my family - if they want it.
use a mixture of forage and commercial rabbit foods to ensure that my buns are healthy. plan to increase forage as i get better at it.
butcher the rabbits and use every part. this means learning to tan, making bone broths, dehydrating parts for dog treats - or human jerky, canning, freezing, stewing, etc.
use tanned furs/leathers to make useful things. at the moment i want to learn to make slippers and mitts, but eventually i want to make other useful items that i can use, give away, or sell.
use rabbit poop, pee, and blood for fertilizer, possibly sell or give away fertilizer.
Plan the Second;
buy property. there is no way at the moment i can afford to buy any sort of property, but if i start saving now, i might be able to finance something in a few years. especially if i can sell rabbit things to subsidize my income. however, selling rabbit things is not a priority at the moment, just a potential side effect.
focus on property without existing houses - or houses that need to come down. lots of at least 0.5 acres is preferred, but not so big its unmanageable for one person.
pay property taxes to local Nation. begin - or continue - supplying Nation food bank with rabbit in a few forms.
build a home. depending on location, build an earthship or other similarly principled sustainable housing. in this house have root cellar, bedroom, indoor/outdoor rabbit warren, kitchen, living room and not much else.
home should have in it; grey and black water systems, solar heating/geo-cooling, solar power, rain water catching system, local and recycled materials.
Plan the Third;
build a chicken coop on property. coop must be safe from local predators including my dog-s. also build chicken and rabbit 'tractors' - movable 'cages' that give access to the ground for free foraging.
build up soil. dependant on the state of the soil but, either full or partial hugelkultur - buried wood, manure, leaf and loam litter, topped by straw or more wood. use rabbit and chickens to help with this.
plant cover crops - use cover crops to feed rabbits and chickens.
plant several perennials and berry bushes - blue, rasp, Saskatoon, etc
plant a kitchen garden - herbs etc - and a food garden. focus on foods that do well in root cellars. i.e. potato, beets, etc.
at that point i don't think i'll be able to work in my current industry, but i should be able to get a part time, low stakes job to help pay for things like mortgage and... cows milk lol.
as i plan on being mostly urban - if rural small town type place - i don't think i can get any dairy goats or a cow. i don't really want chickens for butchery - happy to have them for eggs. but that might change after i get used to butchering rabbits.
i don't want to get rich or anything, i want to survive, which does mean i'll still have to make some money to pay off the property/taxes/etc, so i'll have to sell somethings - even if it's only my own labour. but i want the majority of my surplus foods to go to people who need it. food banks, family, new mothers, refugees. so long as you're hungry, you're welcome to my supplies.
i am pretty close to plan the first at the moment; i have bought rabbit meat to try - if i don't like it as a foodstuff, i don't think i can justify getting meat rabbits - and i've ordered some cages. once the cages get to me i can actually start looking at buns to buy.
plan the second is... much much more challenging. i have very little in savings at the moment and as a single person - in my industry - it will be a challenge to get financing on property... but i am keeping my eyes out for interesting land - there are a few parts of the country i'd happily buy in at the moment - and socking away any extra pennies.
plan the third is entirely contingent on plan the second. so. no movement there yet other than planning.

A Reservoir Runs Dry Water levels in the Cerro Prieto reservoir, near Guadalupe in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo León, have been declining for years. But a persistent and deepening drought over the past two years has brought the reservoir, built in the 1980s, to its lowest point yet. In July 2022, the reservoir dropped to 0.5 percent of its capacity of 393 million cubic meters (318,000 acre-feet). The images above, acquired by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8, show Cerro Prieto reservoir on July 7, 2022, at right, and on July 20, 2015, at left. Monterrey, the state capital of Nuevo León and Mexico’s second-largest metropolitan area, depends on the Cerro Prieto reservoir for part of its water supply. The reservoir’s depletion has hampered industry, agriculture, and tourism. In the second week of July 2022, when temperatures soared to 40°C (104°F) in Nuevo León, water levels dropped so low in Cerro Prieto that water could no longer be extracted from the lake. In response, Mexico’s national water commission, Conagua, announced emergency measures that included redirecting some industrial and agricultural water allotments to ensure residential supplies. At the end of June 2022, two-thirds of Mexico was in drought conditions, affecting more than 21 million people. The northern states along the United States border were most affected. Nearly a quarter of the state of Chihuahua and a third of the state of Coahuila were in exceptional or extreme drought. The map above shows drought conditions in the south-central and southwest U.S. and northern Mexico as of June 30, 2022, as reported by the North American Drought Monitor, a supplemental program to the U.S. Drought Monitor—a partnership of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The map depicts drought intensity in progressive shades of orange to red and is based on measurements of climate, soil, and water conditions from more than 350 federal, state, and local observers around the country. NASA provides experimental measurements and models to this drought monitoring effort. Across the Rio Grande, the southern plains of the United States are also experiencing a record-breaking heatwave and drought. In Texas, nearly 45 percent of the state is in exceptional or extreme drought, including parts of western and south-central Texas near the Mexican border. Across the state, 15 million residents are affected by drought. In New Mexico, nearly 60 percent of the state is enduring exceptional or extreme drought, with 1.5 million people living in drought conditions. According to NOAA, June 2022 was the Northern Hemisphere’s second-warmest June on record. It was also the 46th consecutive June and the 450th consecutive month with temperatures above the 20th-century average. The ten warmest Junes on record have all occurred since 2010. NASA Earth Observatory images by Lauren Dauphin, using Landsat data from the U.S. Geological Survey and data from the North American Drought Monitor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Story by Sara E. Pratt.

We toured the house today!
There were a few things that weren’t absolutely perfect but we liked it a lot still.
The backyard is amazing. Also easy for me to say that because I never grew up with more than 0.5 acre of land in Southern California 😂
