pairing: kirishima eijirou x gn!reader. you know that numb feeling you get when you're down, or that inner turmoil that consumes you whole? maybe this will serve as a reminder that eijiro would be by your side through it all. he understands exactly what its like.

w/c: 0.5k (small comfort drabble for valentine's! <3)

a/n: deadass i title everything based off of songs. my lover by not3s and mabel came into my head as I edited this. yes this is in first person, hopefully you guys will like how this came out!

The lazy hours of the day kick in as I'm lying in Kirishima's arms. It's comfortable like this - loosely wrapped up in a shared blanket, and the warmth of his body next to mine. In the background, the blurred audio of the TV plays. If I'm honest, I stopped listening to it a while ago. Was it playing some music performance, or perhaps the news? Either way, my thoughts jump between their own dangerous spirals and the presence of my boyfriend next to me.

My heart doesn't know whether to pick up or slow its pace when I'm with him. It's been years of us together, but his face never ceases to make me smile. Now I'm lying in his arms, and it's been a day where I don't know if I can find that energy to smile again - but he gives me hope.

He presses a small kiss on my temple. Gentle as always. I relax a little more in his arms, and shift my legs so they entangle with his on the sofa we lie on. He holds me close to his chest; we are heart to heart, see eye to eye from the windows of our pupils until I nestle my head into his chest. Hearing his heartbeat.

The kiss of his pillowy muscles against my cheek. One of his hands holding the back of my head, the other firmly on my waist. Usually, he likes to massage the area with imaginary love notes, perhaps drafting an 'I love you' or simply his initials into my skin. His fingers are rough from his quirk, sometimes still slightly hardened from being overused. When that happens, I like to hold his hands even more and I rub his fingertips softly with my own so he doesn't cut himself by accident. My quirk is somewhat contrasting to his anyway, so I don't get affected by the ridges of the jagged skin. Kirishima is known to be unbreakable, but no one truly knows how I can melt Eiji with my presence. Today is different though - no laughs, no light-hearted smiles whilst I inspect his hands and ask about his day - Eijiro saw me, and understood immediately. Climbing in next to me, embracing me instantaneously. I love how he always knows what to do.

The sturdy hero is my rock. Even though I dangle over a metaphysical cliff's edge, his strong grip suspends me over the threatening abyss below. Eventually, I'm saved as he pulls me upwards. That's the dramatic way to visualize how I am when I get like this, but it feels so real. My biggest fear is that one day I will fall, and I'll take him with me. He already has his own load to bear, but Kirishima tends to hide it behind a reassuring smile, and tells me that "he's a hero too, so that means he has to save others, right?"

But who would save him? Kirishima tells me not to worry about it for now. He hums a low melody that rumbles from deep within his chest, trying to distract me from my own thoughts.

It helps.

His arms feel so strong around me. He rocks me gently as I close my eyes, lulled to sleep in the safety of him, guarded. Eijiro patches each stretching wound of my heart with his time and love - laying here with him is infinite.

OT3 Thoughts

I really like OT3s and poly ships in general but after reading a fair number of OT3 fics as well as some poly original fiction (reverse harem, in particular), I've come to realize I can be kind of picky about them actually.

For me in, in the ideal OT3, the three sides of the triangle should be different from each other. There are a lot of popular OT3s that are basically three friends or three coworkers, and this doesn't tend to work well for me bc I want a variety of dynamics.

For example, Hwi/Seon-ho/Bang-won works well for me bc the three sides are very different. Hwi/Seon-ho is a ship of friends become enemies who are kind of soulmates and can't escape each other's orbit. Hwi/Bang-won is a ship of tenuous fealty with people who like each other but can't entirely trust each other. Seon-ho/Bang-won is a ship of two people with a lot of animosity who are actually very similar. None of these pairs interact in a very similar manner--even when Seon-ho and Hwi have issues, they don't act the same way as when Seon-ho argues with Bang-won, and similarly when Hwi breaks his ties with Bang-won at last, he doesn't act towards him the way he acts towards Seon-ho.

On the other hand, one of my few NOT3s is MCS/Nihuang/Jingyan and I think what it boils down to is that MCS/Nihuang and MCS/Jingyan feel too similar to me. Jingyan has a larger role in the story, yes, and MCS's relationship with him is tied up in knots of fealty and political intrigue, but still you can essentially boil down both relationships to "Nihuang/Jingyan has never gotten over Lin Shu's death, which essentially changed their life, and now in the present meets MCS and becomes attached to him. MCS, who still cares deeply about both of them, lies to them about his identity and eventually gets found out, but their relationship is still complicated bc MCS is but also is not Lin Shu. Also he's still lying about his terminal illness." Of course Nihuang finds out much earlier and has a simpler relationship with him than Jingyan, but bare bones, it's still largely the same. And even Nihuang and Jingyan's dynamic still has the basic structure of "two childhood friends who have been mostly separated due to the Chiyan case come together in the present as changed people." All these relationships are very interesting to me individually but when you put them together, I immediately become bored. I am incapable of caring about such similar relationships at the same time.

This is one reason reverse harem often doesn't work so well for me, or even mfm original romances. It's not bc I don't like V shaped relationships or one person getting together with a bunch of other ppl. (Sometimes I actually think that's better than forcing everyone in the relationship to be equally in love when it feels counterintuitive.) It's more bc often, the relationships will be too similar for me to get into. For example, I've seen a lot of romance novels that focus on one woman sandwiched between two or more alpha males. This doesn't interest me much bc I don't get much of a sense of differentiation between the relationships. On the other hand, my current favorite reverse harem novel is The Glass Princess by Lidiya Foxglove. In it, a human princess gets together with two dragons (a king and his champion) as well as her own bodyguard. (In the sequels, things get even harem-y-er, but I won't get into that.) The relationships Foxglove writes are all very different. The princess and the king are in an arranged marriage but finding each other very attractive. The princess and the bodyguard have been having a forbidden relationship for some time and are star-crossed lovers. And the king's champion... well, his relationship with the princess is not especially complex, but he has quite an interesting dynamic with the king which is all his own.

I think one of the pros of a poly romance where all the dynamics are different is that it makes it harder for one person in the relationship to be overlooked, which is one easy pitfall for an OT3. I've read a number of fics and books both where the dynamic is basically "the ship I'm interested in + someone else who is kind of around in the background." This isn't something that will turn me off a fic--I think it's pretty common when the dynamic is an established couple + an outsider with a focus on the outsider's relationship with one of the members of the established couple. But it does tend to leave me wanting more.

Anyway those are my poly-shipping thoughts of the night. As a random side note my other favorite OT3 dynamic is "two people who are in love and a third person who's unhealthily obsessed with them." Make of that what you will.

I’m currently looking for CaeJose fic recs. Most of the stuff for my ship that I’ve been able to find on AO3 is modern/mundane AUs and fluff. This isn’t really my thing.

What I’m specifically looking for is CaeJose fics that are more like what you’d get in JJBA. Stuff with action, adventure, fights, and monsters to fight against. I’m not interested in “Will he get the guy?” as the sole stake involved with this ship. But I do want to read stories with this ship as endgame. A/N: this one is based off the music video for the song My Lover (Remix) by Not3s Ft. Mabel. In this, COVID never happened and the NHL schedule never changed. Also shoutout to my girls @hockey-and-wine @grenawitka and @pizzasloot for being my cheerleaders in the gc love you girls so much!

Warnings: swearing

You and your three best friends pull up to a local fall carnival near St. Louis to ring in the start of fall. The temperatures in the city have already started to drop which has already signaled the end of summer.

You get your tickets and start walking through the carnival, taking in the bright lights from the booths and the rides. You and your friends get on some rides and scream your asses off. You make your way to the booths with games and take your shot on one of the basketball games. You played on a youth basketball team back in the day, so you definitely can hold your own.

Just as you're about to take your first shot, you feel someone looking at you. You turn your head to the side and see Colton Parayko of the St. Louis Blues staring right at you. You shoot him a challenging look in response.

He turns his attention back to the game and his teammates Vince and Sammy keep stealing glances at you and your friends. You play the game but manage not to get enough points to get the prize. You turn your attention to Colton and see he got enough points to win the prize. He takes the prize and walks over to you with it.

"I'm not really a stuffed teddy bear kind of guy," he says, handing you the big teddy bear.

"Thank you. I'm flattered, but don't you have someone you know you can give this to?" you ask.

"I actually don't. It would just take up space in my apartment," he replies. "I'm Colton, by the way."

"I know who you are. I was at the Stanley Cup parade last year," you inform him.

"So you're a fan then?" he asks.

"Yeah, but I was a casual fan until the playoffs, then I became a bigger fan," you admit.

"Well since you know who I am, it's only fair I at least get to know your name," he suggests.

"I'm Y/N," you smile.

"Well Y/N, will you accept this teddy bear as a gift?" he asks.

"Sure," you nod, a smile on your lips.

You hand the teddy bear to your friend who takes it to your car.

Vince and Sammy finally walk up to the both of you.

"What brings you three to this fair?" you ask curiously.

"We got a few days off before our next game and we wanted to do something different," Colton replies, not letting the others answer.

"Well, I hope you guys have fun," you smile, knowing they'll probably want to have fun by themselves.

"Yeah no, you're not getting rid of us that quickly! It''ll be more fun if we do stuff all together!" Vince suggests, referring to your friends.

You look at your friends and see them nod and smile, letting you know they're on board with the idea.

"Alright, let's do it!" you smile.

You all start walking towards the rides, falling into conversations with each other.

“Can we stop at the concession stands? I want some cotton candy,” you ask.

Colton leads you to the concession stands to buy the cotton candy. You order the cotton candy and before you can pay for it, Colton hands the worker the money, causing you to whine.

“I wanted to pay!” you cry out.

“Too late now,” he replies, causing you to hip check him lightly.

The worker hands you the cotton candy and you take a piece and put it in your mouth, enjoying the taste of sugar on your tongue.

“Is it good?” he asks, as you all start to walk away from the stands.

You take a piece of the cotton candy and feed it to him. He eats the piece and smiles back at you. Your friends and his teammates just give each other knowing looks.

“You guys wanna go on the teacups?” Vince asks.

Everyone else agrees with the suggestion, leaving you and Colton alone to eat the cotton candy. You and Colton go to a nearby empty table and sit down.

“I can’t believe they really ditched us!” you giggle, shaking your head.

“They’ll come back after they’re done with the teacups,” Colton replies. "So what brings you to the fair?"

"I come here every year. I used to come with my parents when I was little, but now I just come with my friends," you explain.

"Funny how I've been in St. Louis for years now and I've never been here before," he explains.

"Well now that you know, you're gonna come back right?" you ask.

"It's obviously difficult with the schedule to come out here, but I wanna come back next year,” he explains.

“That’s great to hear,” you smile.

You two finish the cotton candy, just in time to see your friends and Colton’s teammates come back from the teacups.

“So where to next?” one of your friends asks, as you and Colton get up from the table.

“The bumper cars are right over there!” another one of your friends points out.

“Let’s do it!” you suggest.

The others agree and you make your way over to the bumper cars. You wait in line for a bit before being allowed into the bumper car rink. You get into cars and after a minute or so, the cars start and you all start trying to bump each other. Vince, Colton, and Sammy get super competitive and start trying to kill each other. You and your friends get competitive as well and you start bumping the shit out of each other. You spend the majority of the time laughing as you bump into everyone. After a few minutes, the ride ends and you guys all get out and start walking away. You and Colton walk ahead of everyone else and start walking to the main area of the fair.

“Alright guys, where do you want-”

You turn around and stop yourself in your tracks, when you notice your friends and Colton’s teammates are gone. They were behind you and Colton and decided amongst themselves to leave you two alone.

“I can’t believe they ditched us!” you groan, shaking your head.

“I guess it’s just us two then,” he replies, trying to fill in the empty space.

“So what do you want to do now?” you ask.

“We can play some games or we can get on some rides,” he explains.

“We can go play some games,” you suggest.

You two walk over to a line of games and you decide to play the water gun game. Colton pays the worker and you grab the gun. You start shooting the water but you’re having a hard time hitting the red target.

“Let me help,” Colton says, pressing himself behind you.

He puts his hand over yours and steadies the gun, aiming it at the water. He hits the target perfectly. You win the race and get another bear as a prize.

“Since you gave me the bear earlier, it’s only fair that I give you this one,” you explain.

“Like I said earlier, it would just take space at my apartment,” he replies, shaking his head.

“Your loss,” you tease, hugging the bear tightly.

“So where to next?” he asks.

“We can do the ferris wheel,” you suggest.

“Alright, let’s do it,” he smiles, leading you towards the ferris wheel.

You wait in line for a few minutes, before getting into a cart. You put the seatbelts on and you start feeling the cold breeze hit you as the night goes on.

“Are you cold?” he asks, wrapping his arms around you.

“Yeah,” you nod, resting your head on his shoulder.

The ride starts and you start seeing the view of the city.

“Isn’t the city so beautiful from up here?” you ask, taking in the view.

“Yeah it really is! My place has a nice view of the city too and I’m blown away by it every time,” he adds.

“You live in a high-rise? I might have to invite myself over sometime,” you tease.

“The view is ten times better with you in it,” he adds, kissing your forehead.

You lift your head up and feel the heat rise in your cheeks. You have no idea how to respond to that. You open your mouth but then close it, like a gaping fish.

“Y/N, can I kiss you?” he asks, cupping your cheek.

You nod sheepishly, not being able to form thoughts or words at the moment. He leans in and kisses you softly and you feel all the cliche bullshit that every teen romance and romcom talks about; the sparks, the butterflies, the hummingbirds singing. After your moment of temporary paralysis, you get with the program and kiss him back. Your hands make its way to the back of his head and you dig your fingers into his hair. You two keep kissing for a while before you finally break apart to breathe. You both take in the surroundings and notice you’re almost on the way down to the ground again. You straighten yourselves out and enjoy the last minute or so of the ride before coming off. You come off the ride holding hands and make your way back to the main area. Once you arrive there, you see your friends and Colton’s teammates show up.

“I see you two had fun,” one of your friends points out, referring to you and Colton holding hands.

“Yeah, you can definitely say that,” he replies, as you bury your face in his shoulder from embarrassment.

Your friends start talking about the time and how they have to go do stuff at home. They exchange numbers with Vince and Sammy, with Vince talking about them all hanging out soon. Your friends say goodbye and head towards the parking lot.

“And then there were three,” Colton announces.

“Actually, it’s getting pretty late. So, Dunner and I are gonna head out,” Sammy says, making it obvious what he’s trying to do.

“Yeah, we’ll see you around,” Vince adds, playing along.

They both say goodbye and head towards the parking lots.

“So now it’s just us,” he says.

"How are you getting back home?" you ask, hoping that his teammates weren't his ride.

“I was actually gonna take an Uber back,” he replies.

“Yeah no, I’ll take you back home,” you inform him.

There’s no way you’re gonna let him take an Uber back home, when you can drive him back to his place.

“You just want to see the view of the city from my balcony,” he teases.

“You caught me!” you tease back, giggling lightly.

“So you wanna head out now?” he asks, not wanting you to leave.

“Actually yeah. I wanna see if the view of the city from your place lives up to my expectations,” you tease.

“Lead me to your car then,” he smiles

You two walk hand-in-hand to the parking lot and towards your car. You get into the driver’s seat and he plugs his phone to the speakers. You drive out of the parking lot and make your way to his apartment in the city. After almost half an hour, you arrive at the parking garage under his building. You park in the garage and you both make your way inside the building. You take the elevator all the way up to his floor and he leads you towards his apartment.

“Welcome to La Casa de Parayko,” he smiles, opening the front door.

He gives you a quick tour of the place and it’s very luxurious. But you shouldn’t expect anything less from a multi-millionaire hockey player.

“So, where’s this view you’ve been talking about?” you ask.

“Right here,” he says, leading you towards the sliding door.

He opens the door to the balcony and you step outside. He shuts the door shut behind him and you’re immediately hit with the chilly autumn breeze. He comes from behind and wraps his arms around you. You place your hands over his, as he rests his head on your shoulder.

“You weren’t lying. This view is beautiful!” you cry out, loving the view of the Mississippi River and the Golden Arch.

“Not as beautiful as you though,” he replies, kissing your cheek.

You turn around in his arms and kiss him, throwing caution to the wind. He kisses back right away, keeping his hands firmly around your waist. After a few minutes, you pull away from the kiss, biting your lip.

“We have a game tomorrow night against the Avalanche, one of our biggest division rivals. If you’re free, I would love for you to come,” he explains, looking slightly nervous.

“Yeah I’m totally free, but I’m pretty sure it’s sold out already,” you reply, not wanting to get his hopes up.

“I can save you a ticket for the game under my name. Do you own a jersey of mine?” he asks.

“Actually no. I only have an old Backes jersey,” you inform him.

“Well I’ll have a jersey for you as well. You just have to go to the box office and say you have a ticket under my name,” he explains to you.

“Will I see you after the game?” you ask.

“Yeah, I’ll have somebody bring you back to see me,” he explains.

“Colton, I don’t know what to say. This is a lot,” you smile, not expecting all this to come out of going to the fair.

“I like you and I want to get to know you more, if you give me a chance,” he explains.

“So it’s a date then?” you ask, biting your lip.

“After the game, it’ll be,” he explains.

“What are we doing after the game?” you ask curiously.

“If I tell you, it’ll just ruin the surprise,” he teases.

“As much as I’d love to stargaze with you out here, it’s cold,” you inform him.

“Sure, we can go inside and watch a movie?” he suggests.

“Movies and cuddles? I’m definitely in,” you smile, kissing him sweetly.

You’re so glad you decided to go to the fair again this year.

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

I was talking to @fishklok about domestic Magnus/Charles and probably that, if I’m being honest, because I’m a huge sucker for silly slice of life stuff. Also, @offdensmith and I were chatting and briefly joked about a coffee shop AU and now I’m... tempted. I do want to try and write more light-hearted stuff... but I don’t often do much AU stuff of my own, it’s always been in tandem with @agaricales for our crackships (like the NOT3) so.......... maybe someday. -shrug-

7. What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?

I LOVE COMMAS. And em dashes, and parentheses, and semicolons. Just a big ol’ punctuation salad. This is probably to a deleterious extent; I will often find run-ons in my writing afterwards and then have to snip and trim and rewrite to make it seem like I actually have coherent prose instead of a goofy magician’s scarf trail of connecting thoughts. I hope my love for punctuation and long sentences is noticeable but not distracting. ^^;

17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?

This is a tricky one! I have a lot of instances where I second-guess myself and how others perceive me and my work, so one minute I might think “wow this must sound SO pretentious; I probably come off like that one kid in class who always thought they had something important to say but NO ONE wanted to actually listen to” and then other times I’ll feel like “Heaven help me, I am God’s own fool, His little court jester whom He pokes with a stick sometimes to see how they’ll embarrass themselves next.”

I like to think my writing speaks for itself, in terms of my motivations for writing it, which usually are some form of “I want to see these characters kiss/fight/tenderly take care of each other/have awkward sex/rob a bank together.” Basically, I write what I want to because I want to sljdklfs

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

I’m going to spare you another mini-essay because this is so long and just say, “Answered!”

21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

Ooh, this is an interesting question! I don’t think I’ve ever really considered it. Sometimes I read something and I’m like “oh this person definitely wrote it with TV/movie adaptation in mind (like Josh Malerman’s Bird Box, Chuck Wendig’s Wanderers, and Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff all felt like this to me), and, well, snooty book opinions ahoy, but I never find them as enjoyable and think sometimes the work actually suffers for it by virtue of being limited by what film can do AND what writing can do (I think every medium has its limitations, so this is absolutely not a dig at film or animation or television! I’m writing fanfiction for a TV show fsjdlkfs this is just my stinky onion). So I don’t ever write with another medium in mind! If I had to pick, though, I’d probably say comic/graphic novel, just by virtue of being able to get you really close to the characters and being able to utilize more writing-based story-telling techniques, if that makes sense?

I know you watch a lot of movies and TV, so I’d love to hear your perspective on it, because I know my knowledge of film is pretty limited! (And this goes for anyone else who has film or book opinions or thoughts about cross-media adaptations!)

1. Intro: Spring - KTH = Winter Bear - V

From the very first mixtape skit, Tae suggested having Intro: Spring and Outro: Summer so y’all know I had to call the intro Intro: Spring lol. I based this one off Winter Bear bc even though Winter Bear is about... a winter bear (lmao), I thought it’d be cute to have the message of this song as even though it’s spring, the singer still loves the person they fell in love with during the winter (and winter doesn’t necessarily refer to the season, but maybe a dark time in the singer’s life).

2. Mayday - KTH & JJK = Lay Me Down - Sam Smith & John Legend

So the reason I chose this song is that it’s quite a sad and dark love song and rather than seeing it as an unrequited love song (which is what it is), I see it as more a doomed love song. From the point of view of the singer, they see the relationship as something amazing and beautiful and something they want, but there are doubts/barriers in the way. This could be reflective of how both Tae and JK initially saw their relationships with Chae and Lisa due to the whole idol dating thing, or maybe even their past with sleeping around.

3. Injustice - Jisoo & Jennie = Extraordinary - Clean Bandit & Sharna Bass

I chose this song bc it talks about finding love in an unlikely place; the club. In Outings, the boys sing/rap about finding love in a different unlikely place; on tour. It’s so hectic and busy that you wouldn’t think there’d be any time, but it happened regardless.

7. Possessed - JHS, Jennie & y/n = All My Friends - Snakehips, Tinashe & Chance The Rapper

This song is the ultimate introvert anthem and talks about the idol lifestyle for idols that don’t like the idol lifestyle. y/n wasn’t into all that getting high and drunk and sleeping around kinda thing and this song reflects that mentality, and the mentality of the boys when they used to do that shit.

8. Parents - KSJ, Jisoo & JJK = Boyfriend - Ariana Grande & Social House

This song just talks about how Jin, JK and Jisoo (and Lisa) are in relationships where they really like the other person and they don’t want them with anybody else, but they’re also not quite ready to commit and put a label on it or make it official just yet.

9. Booking Flights - KSJ, JHS, Jisoo, KNJ & Jennie = Finders Keepers - Mabel & Kojo Funds

This song is about how you will not catch Jin, Jisoo, Joon or Jennie booking a flight to see the other person they’re in a relationship with; they’re not ready for that yet and they’d prefer to keep it casual and make the most of the time they do have together before becoming serious.

I start shambling in a dir3ction, for what f33ls lik3 an 3t3rnity.

As I walk though the for3st, th3 fog is always h3avy 3nough for m3 to s33 no mor3 than 10 f33t around, and th3 light from th3 sky is th3 d33p azur3 you g3t wh3n th3 sun is just about to ris3 on a r3ally ov3rcast day. Th3r3 are tr33s about 6-10 inch3s thick, just bar3ly int3rsp3rs3d 3nough for it to classify as a for3st and 3v3ry singl3 tim3, I’m fucking convinc3d that som3 of th3 tr33s ar3n’t tr33s and I hav3 th3 dr3ad of f33ling lik3 I’m b3ing watch3d; that th3r3’s constantly som3thing b3hind m3.
