David Jenkins was a playwright before he was a TV showrunner and it so clearly shows in how OFMD was designed as a stage play. Indeed, our logistical questions around how Stede managed to find his crew with just a dinghy or why distances don't matter only come up because we can see the ocean and the distances thanks to the power of CGI movie magic and wouldn't even ping our collective consciousnesses if this was all happening on a stage as the story in its bones was clearly meant to, in this essay I will...

I am once again overcome by the sheer magnitude of pranks Mikey and Leo could commit on the world of archaeology through their combined abilities of time and space
With enough time for Mikey in particular to be strong enough to make a small time portal - again within Leo’s portal opened in Someplace, Somewhere - they could plant so much shit just to mess with historians.
Like - Mikey wanted to try painting Greek-style pottery and Leo is like “hey hey wait…”
And now there is newly discovered evidence of Greek depictions of humanoid turtles laying around.

Now I'm sitting and looking at the Willow Tail trend stirring up around here that I've apparently triggered by being a troublesome snitch
Feels like throwing a tiny fish in a dusky scary pool to watch a magnificent legendary monster emerging to swallow it
I am satisfied, Willow Tail deserves better than she got
It always seemed odd how they just made her up to be the bad guy seemingly out of nowhere
no worries, you'll never find that take, it was a local not-English-speaking social media
It's me, the DOTC mosasaur, lunging up out of my tank to devour all the bad takes that come from weirdo Clear Sky stans lmao
I LIKE the bunny bones plot. I think it was cool to let Willow Tail be doing something kind of sneaky, holding a grudge from the last book. I enjoy the way she still have love and concern for Moth Flight, while also having beef with Red Claw. Dynamics like this are interesting and what I want more of in these books.
But the writers treat it like a woman lying is the most evil sin they've ever heard of. So they let Clear Sky carve her face like a pumpkin, killing her slowly in a stomach turning way, all while their precious writer's pets keep all of their power and never have to confront the fact that THEY ESCALATED IT. AT EVERY TURN.
The woman who lied pays for it with a slow, agonizing death, while men who murder and abuse don't even have to squeak out a "sorry."
I'm deadass, Clear Sky is forced to make peace and he says, "It was a dumb fight." Like, oh ok? A dumb fight? Did it fall out of the sky, asshole? Or did you make a hostage out of a leader's daughter and only doctor because you blamed HER for killing that son you let die?
Awful. Justice for Willow Tail. The punishment for lying should not be DEATH BY EYE GOUGING.

Lance: Coran, what's the Altean word for 'bisexuality?'
Coran: Why, that would be kv-linockxm'nar'xilta'atli
-
Shiro, much later: Hey, Allura? Pidge says you guys have a word for, 'Vague sense of existential dread based on loss of faith'
Allura, brightly: Ah, yes! We call that blob

Special shout-out to the little additional things Ed/Taika occasionally murmurs in scenes, which I would assume to be improvised, such as his “Toodle-ooo~” when Lucius is starting to count backwards, and his “That was embarrassiinnngggg :)” when he’s coming to confront Izzy, Fang, and Ivan after hanging for 20 minutes

I am here once again fresh off listening to that vegan teacher reaction videos to share some dairy farm information and wisdom that was not asked for but you get anyway
Calf hutches are used to provide the calves with safe, clean living spaces and offer airflow in the summer and protection from the wind and cold in the winter, and using calf hutches often leads to better health for the calves and easier tracking of any issues they might have as well as making sure they all get the same amount of milk (also, the milk substitute for calves smells amazing)
Essentially, they're cribs for babies. Calves have really bad immune systems, and if you can't easily see which one has diarrhea, then that calf could very well die and spread the issue to the others. Farmers dont want their animals to die. (Farm animals are not cheap. Even if they were born on your farm, if they die you're losing out on the money you could get from them. 5 month old steers can go for over 1000 dollars)
And just as an example as how people twist calf hutches
