OK THOSE PROMPTS SOUND PERFECT FOR RUTGER pls consider it requested by yours truly…i mean the friend that was asking ha
warnings: minor language, suggestive material under the cut
“what’s the password?” you call out after three knocks sound against your bedroom door, tightening the strings of your bikini bottoms against your side. you quirk an eyebrow at the lack of response, a smirk playing at your lips, “no password, no entry.”
“oh, um,” there’s a thump on the other side of the wall and you can only guess that rutger had slumped his weight against your closed door, “i- uh- starburst?”
you cross the room and allow him to slip inside before closing the door again. you throw your arms gently over his shoulders and his hands come to rest on your hips, “now, i don’t remember telling you that little secret…”
“your brother mentioned it awhile back and i may have stored it in endearing things about you,” he mumbles as his fingers pull at the ties of your bikini bottoms, “why do i need to use it? i’m not a stranger.”
“that’s exactly why you need to use it, honey, because about thirty seconds before you knocked, i was topless and don’t really want just anyone seeing my boobs,” immediately his cheeks started to turn red and you cackle, “almost a year and you’re still so easy to make squirm.”
“y/n,” he pouts as you pat his cheek before moving past him to grab a towel off of your bed, “you’re leaving? now? but i just got back.”
“you’re the one who decided to go and work out with my brother, on my birthday might i add, and left me alone all morning. now, i’m going down to the pool, but you’re free to join,” you shrug as you go to the door, but he stops you.
“hey, you weren’t alone. you had your mom and kennedy-”
“would’ve been nicer if it was you though. might have had plans that involved me, you and the shower but i guess that we’ll never know,” you let out an overdramatized sigh as his face falls and you take that as your queue to leave, knowing exactly what you were doing to him.
“look at the birthday girl,” cutter calls, already bobbing in the pool as you walk through the open back door, “sorry i stole your man this morning. had to get a workout in before the celebration tonight. 21 is a big number and we probably won’t feel like it tomorrow.”
“i wasn’t born yesterday, cutter. i know what you did, you know what you did, but it’s fine,” you drop your towel onto your favorite lounger and push your sunglasses off of your head down to cover your eyes, “he still sleeps in my bed at night.”
“you-”
“cannonball!”
a shout interrupted what was surely about to turn into an argument between the two of you and you watch as rutger runs across the backyard and dives into the pool, blissfully unaware of what he had just ended with a gigantic splash.
or maybe he did.
“my bad, y/n,” he calls, a lopsided smirk on his lips as he breaks through the surface of the water. “didn’t mean to get you wet.”
you click your tongue, knowing full well that he had caught onto the little game that you were playing with him. before you could come up with a smart remark, he wraps cutter in a headlock and they start to wrestle in the middle of the pool just like the buddies they were. it was nice to see them like that, not cutter being too protective over you or rutger being too scared to even hold your hand in front of your brother sometimes, just friends. old teammates with history.
you watch them for a little while, before a light bulb goes off in your head and you clear your throat,
“rut, baby,” you call out as you start to loosen the tie on your bikini top, quickly lifting your arm to catch it before it slips too far, “can you do my sunscreen? or at least just get my back? i can’t reach it all the way and i don’t want to be burnt in pictures.”
the pout you send in his direction makes it hard for him to say know and through the dark lenses of your sunglasses, you watch cutter roll his eyes as your boyfriend clears his throat, “yeah, y/n. gimme a sec.”
“i wish that i never would’ve introduced you two,” cutter grunts as rutger slowly makes his way out of the pool, not so subtly adjusting himself as he makes his way over to your lounger, “or allowed you to date, matter of fact.”
“allowed? cutter, i’m older than you. i don’t need your permission for who i date,” you roll your eyes, sending a rutger a smile dipped in faux sweetness as he sits on the end of your chair. “besides, technically you didn’t introduce us. your boy slid in my dms.”
“you did what, mcgroarty?”
“she’s lying, cut. i wouldn’t- jesus christ, y/n,” his voice drops to a whisper that only you could hear as you undo the other string of your top and move it to the side, covering your chest with your arm. you spare him a glance over your shoulder and find him practically shaking at the sight, “it’s like you want to get me killed.”
“me? i would never, baby,” you reach out to pat his thigh, “i just asked you to apply sunscreen and now you’re blushing, you idiot. i’m innocent.”
“innocent my ass,” he scoffs, ignoring cutters warnings of keeping it pg as you hear the tube cap pop. you jump as the cool cream touches your left shoulder, “how am i supposed to survive the next week? genuine question.”
“if this is getting you so stirred up, you’re going to be miserable at dinner tonight.”

Little ways Clint accommodates Nat, and Nat accommodates Clint? Like things they just know that the rest of the team has no clue about?
Ohh good question!
Clint’s a nervous knee bouncer when he’s in a very loud places like bars or Tony’s annual Avenger’s Charity parties. It reminds him too much of the bars that him and Barney would sleep outside of when they were kids. Anytime there’s more than twenty people he gets overwhelmed so Nat sticks close to his side the entire time and will pull him away from the party. They have a nonverbal queue when either of them wants to leave the party early without being rude: two taps on the elbow.
Natasha’s sensitive to the cold. Despite being born in Russia and spending the majority of her time in the cold she hates it. Clint doesn’t mind the cold, he prefers it over the heat anyway so he always has an extra hoodie or jacket handy. If they have to wear something fancy he brings along a black shawl just in case. If that doesn’t work, well he’d gladly give her the suit jacket off his back. (Which she likes the best because it’s ohh so warm from his body heat. And it smells like him; rich and woodsy.)
Clint’s not really a picky eater. Growing up dirt poor doesn’t make for a particularly picky palette, but he will pick off the mushrooms on his supreme pizza. He told Natasha that he does it because he knows she likes them! Natasha hasn’t had the heart to tell him that she also doesn’t like mushrooms, but the goofy grin he gives her when she accepts the pile of mushrooms he’s piled on her plate melts her heart. (Ahh the things we do for love!)
Clint’s not that well versed on history, as he missed a good chunk of his schooling thanks to being in the circus and a neglectful foster father. He’s a bit self conscious about it, so Natasha will take over the conversation should the conversation ever gear that way. One time they had a mission escorting a foreign dignitary across enemy lines who had a fascination in early American history. He was absolutely over the moon to have two American history professors escorting him (their covers). Clint hammed up his deafness and let Natasha handle the conversational reigns which eventually become a very hilarious inside joke between them later. (“It’s a little ironic that the Russian knew more about the Revolutionary war than I did.” “I’ll gladly offer tutoring sessions, Clint.” “Ohhh yes please Professor Romanoff.”)
Natasha sometimes forgets a word in English, and instead says it in either Russian or any of the other myriad of languages the Red Room put into her head. She tries not to of course. Nothing blows one’s cover more than a polyglot brain fart. When it happens she sort of stops mid sentence and looks a bit like a deer in the headlights which is usually when Clint swoops in and says something dumb to bail her out of it. A couple minutes later he’ll lean in and give her the correct word with a quick kiss to her cheek. Later she’ll reward him for his quick thinking by telling him exactly what she wants him to do to her in every language she knows. Usually in Russian but sometimes Spanish. Clint’s gets hot under the collar for rolled R’s. (They’ve definitely said some of the filthiest things known to man to each other with the rest of the team none of the wiser.)
Anyway just some little ways these two help each other! Thank you for asking!

Hey, I, well I guess I’m wondering how you know if you have autism. Like, if I do have it, it’s on the what-used-to-be-considered-asperger’s side, I interact with people weirdly, jokes and sarcasm go over my head, I miss or purposefully ignore social queues (sometimes people want to change the subject and it’s like no, I want to talk about this right now). At least two close friends of mine have straight up told me that they’re sure I have autism, one of which has been diagnosed with autism themself. But like, it’s all pretty mild, and I haven’t had many other signs, like my speech wasn’t delayed and I do very well in school (alright, calculus went a bit over my head, but like other than that…). I do get hyperfixations, but they’re a lot shorter than most hyperfixations associated with autism. Like, I have a lot more emotional stamina than my other friends with autism (maybe not as much as most neurotypicals, but, idk). I have GAD, and my therapist believes that I’m neurotypical and everything I experience (in the way of autism symptoms) is because of that.
IDK, I’m not asking you to diagnose me anonymously over the internet based on a single paragraph.
It’s just, I want to know how you knew/why you got your late diagnosis sort of thing.
Anyway, thanks for any help, bye!
-A very tired and confused high schooler (I’m sorry to do this anonymously, but I’m too anxious to put my username to it)
No need to apologise. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 36, but I knew I wasn't "normal" my whole life. I told my mum at 5 that I had been born in the wrong country because I just didn't understand anyone. But, I did not know I was autistic. I just knew I did not feel like other people. I saw things differently.
So, first things first: there is no "mild autism" in that sense. You're correct that Asperger's is no longer used because the diagnostic criteria was so similar to autism it was indistinguishable. An autistic person can have milder traits than another autistic, but it's a very personal experience.
Next, not all Autistics experienced delays. And not all struggle in school or have an intellectual disability or learning disorder. They are common, but not universal.
The next important point to make is that signs of autism are from birth or a very young age. Your therapist said your traits may be due to anxiety and that is very true. But if you were struggling to understand people at 3, it's less likely to be anxiety. This is why a thorough history is important.
However, important caveat: high masking Autistics can "appear normal" to everyone else. A lot of soul searching and honesty is required in this. Example is knowing you have friends but asking yourself do you genuinely enjoy what they do? Do you find them mentally exhausting? Are you quickly ostracised from groups? Etc
Also, online tests can be helpful.
Here's a link to Embrace Autism.

OC 15 Questions
Tagged by @duckingwriting to answer some questions about my OCs.
Gently passing the tag onto: @queen-tashie @kaiafosterwrites @deanwax @writingamongther0ses @tate-lin and anyone else who would like to take up the mantle of the open tag!
(Sorry, this has been sitting my drafts for so long, and then in queue purgatory before it's even seen the light of day!)
I've done a couple of these for characters in Memento Mori, so figured it's time for a shift in focus to Blood Harmony.
Answering for Arnauld Beaufort, Mave's nemesis.
Tumblr media
Are you named after anyone?
No
2. When was the last time you cried?
I haven't cried in a while. The last time would probably have been shedding a single tear over the rubble where I thought Mavis had died. A good opponent is hard to find.
3. Do you have kids?
I have over a thousand demons at my beck and call. They're hard enough to handle; I wouldn't add children to my workload. Unless you count Connor? He's not my biological son, but I look out for him nonetheless. He'd walk into traffic otherwise.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Moi? No. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, after all.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
How short their lives are. When you live for several centuries, people come and go in the blink of an eye. Although, there are several mortals who have piqued my interest in them over the years. They leave lasting marks...mementos...
6. What’s your eye color?
Blue, like my mother's.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
I don't find movies to be particularly scary, being a demon.Happy endings are too contrived. I prefer psychological thrillers myself.
8. Any special talents?
I'm difficult to kill. Just ask Mavis; Hell knows she's tried hard enough.
9. Where were you born?
The province of Alsace in the Holy Roman Empire. Where I was born has been many countries over the years, and it's currently near Strasbourg, France.
10. What are your hobbies?
I've been many things over the centuries; a sell-sword, mercenary, politician, musician, smuggler, pirate...
I enjoy model ship making. I particularly revel in building windjammers and clippers for display in my library.
11. Have you any pets?
Would Mavis count if I compare her to a feral cat who continually tries to hunt me?
12.What sports do you play/have played?
Sword-fighting, jousting for a brief period, general marksmanship... I've tried my hand at badminton, but it's not for me. Any sport that involves a ball, apart from basketball; too undignified. I'm excellent at billiards.
13.How tall are you?
5'11" or thereabouts
13. Favorite subject in school?
I never went to school; my mother paid for private tutors for me. I enjoyed History the most. I've found, that over the centuries, it often repeats itself. Mortals often fail to learn from their mistakes, but I've lived long enough to see the patterns, know what is coming, and can then avoid the worst of the fallout. You just have to look at my portfolio to know just how good I am as a student of history.
14.Dream job?
Benevolent Dictator, which I suppose I already am, as the head of a law firm. I'd just like to expand my reach from the moral realm, in the infernal!

The TA discord was talking about first OCs today (or like a week ago by the time this gets posted because I'll probably queue it) and it made me think of this really old OC I had when I first read the books and never since.
When I read the books I thought it was weird that the gods kept having hundreds of demigod children over the centuries but never with each other so the OC was this son-adjacent of Ares and Aphrodite because I thought they were the most likely to have gotten knocked up over the years. His parents never actually gave him a name but his dad was always dragging him into wars so he would get referred to as 'soldier' and just kind of accepted that as his name.
Also he born at some time during WW2 and because of magic god-aging he actually fought in the battles as part of the American Army? and was possibly there on the beaches during D Day? idk why all the war stuff was there, I might have just been studying the world wars in history and watching documentaries about it so I just deposited all the information into my hcs. Anyway since the Titan War was happening, Ares was always sending him on jobs to do stuff against the TA but since he was just a himbo-esque, awkward, god version of a teenager that was trying to make his parents proud, he was mostly just hanging out with the TA demigods while they harmlessly fought against each other and they kept trying to get him to join like:-
Alabaster: Why do you still fight for your parents? They didn't even give you a name?
Soldier: Well, his mother didn't give him a second eye.
Ethan: Yes she did! She just took it back!
Soldier actually had a kind of similar relationship with his parents that Ethan had with Nemesis. They were always too busy with themselves so they hardly gave him the time of day. Aphrodite was much more affectionate with him on account of being Aphrodite but she never really went out of her way to spend time with him or let him know she loved him. Ares pretty much only saw him as a soldier, hence his 'name' so his relationship with Soldier was more like that of a commander and a subordinate than a father and son. It left Soldier kind of desperate for parental affection, especially from Ares, so he tries his best to be a good soldier and always pulls out all the stops to impress him in order to 'earn' his father's love, kind of like Clarisse does in pretty much all of her major appearances.
However, Soldier doesn't make much progress in getting Ares to like him and any affection he gets from impressing him is very short-lived. He starts getting pretty disillusioned but he forces himself not to acknowledge his doubts and tells himself it's fine but the TA demigods he bumps into from time to time are always giving each other the concerned side-eye whenever he brings up his extremely worrying daddy and mommy issues like "Dude, are you good?"

Hello everyone!
I haven’t posted many music updates here recently because I have just been forgetting to use tumblr as one of my platforms (even though tumblr is probably the one I’ve had the most growth on out of any of them cause of how long I’ve been here). However, although it’s two years too late I wanted to have a talk in depth about my latest E.P because one thing I love about this place is how I can talk in depth about what I’ve made more than I can anywhere else. I did it for the last E.P, now it’s time to talk about this one.
Last week, I got word from one of my friends that my music was no longer on Spotify so they could listen to it and it made me realise I’d forgotten to pay my Distrokid bill. So when I sorted it out and fixed all issues with accessibility I decided to take a trip down memory lane and have a listen for the first time in a while.
Unlike Made With Blingee which was one impulsive idea I came up with in 2018 that I rushed to finish within that year, leaving it a perfect time capsule of my scene days - Thing Is Me is not a snapshot of one year, but a snapshot of evolution from 2019-2022. While I was making it I changed a lot as a person, but also with the help of my collaborators the songs changed too until they settled to where they are now.
The oldest song on this E.P was Lola Bunny, the first inklings of it were born in late 2018 but it came to life in the way you know it in 2019. Lola Bunny was supposed to be just my voice and an acoustic guitar when I first began brainstorming it. It was fresh in my mind after I found out a boy in school who I thought I liked was taken. (It was one year before I learned I was a lesbian). In hindsight I wasn’t really in love with him, I just liked the idea that he could’ve been my only shot at love. My dating pool at school was small, the few people I pursued had found someone else, were straight, or were repulsed by me. I couldn’t go on dating apps or look for people outside of school at clubs or concerts. It was either school or the fandom circles on the internet, and I was sick of E-Dating people from completely different countries. When I found out that boy was taken, it’s a miracle that I didn’t lose hope that I’d ever be loved at all. Instead I thought I’d just never have a high school romance like the movies promised. (spoiler alert: I was wrong). In 2019 when I revisited Lola Bunny I got into shoegaze and realised the song would sound even better as a crushing wall of sound akin to Cocteau Twins, Ride or MBV. Me and my cousin recorded it together in 2020, the rest is history.
The second oldest song is The Hotel Song. In late 2018 I went to a friend’s birthday party and another traumatic incident involving two of my bullies happened. They taunted me and in a fit of pent up rage I confronted them about everything they did to me. They denied it all, called me delusional, and laughed in my face as I broke down on the side of the road outside my friend’s house. I was already traumatised but that sent me to a low point I believed I’d never recover from. The only place I remotely felt safe in afterwards was my bedroom and I coped with the intense depression and anxiety by drawing, eating two minute noodles for every meal of the day, and listening to the same queue of songs on repeat. One night I fell into a deep sleep and had a dream about going to a hotel with my friends and meeting one of the bullies from the incident there by accident. My friends invited her to go to the spa pool with us. Despite my initial hesitation, the time we all had together was pleasant, almost innocent, and I didn’t get hurt again. Later as we dried off, I got an apology from her for everything she did to me. Just as I forgave her I woke up thinking about how everyone has the capability to change for the better at the drop of a hat. As the next year rolled around the dream was still something I thought about a lot, so I decided to make it a song. I was getting into The Moldy Peaches, Neutral Milk Hotel and other weird folky stuff. I felt like the more oddball lyrics due to them coming from a dream suited that sound so I had that in mind as I put it together. I arranged to make it with a wonderful family friend. It was the only song he fully contributed to before I switched to working with my cousin, but he was really important and taught me a lot of great things. I’m very proud of what came out.
The third oldest song is from way into 2019. I was getting better. I had a great network of friends now who gave me the safety net I needed to recover, I’d gone on a long road-trip that made me see beauty in the world, I was getting into new music and other new interests and those new things kept me calm. I still had outbursts of anxiety from time to time though. One of the bullies from the party still scared me to death. I was growing stronger in all other areas of my life, but the looming fear that he could hurt me again was the only thing holding me back from completely recovering. At that time all I wanted was a resolution, ideally an apology but I was just coming to terms with accepting that he wouldn’t ever do that based on how he acted the last time I saw him. I wrote Post Mental about finding that acceptance. Learning to recover in spite of him. In this song I go through all the history we shared, then at the end I let him go. Like The Hotel Song, Post Mental has a lot of the same influences I discussed earlier but with an added flavour of Sufjan Stevens in there. My favourite part of recording this with my cousin was towards the end when we decided to become a two person choir. We did all kinds of things with our voices to make that part special and it was incredibly cathartic for me.
Post Mental Reprise came a few years later in mid 2021. A lot had changed since then, the most shocking thing of them all though was that the bully in question I wrote part 1 about finally did apologise to me! He’d grown up a lot since the incident, realised the friends who made him act the way he did weren’t good people, found better friends, and then apologised to everyone. Including me! We’re not friends now but we are civil. My cousin suggested the E.P should get rounded out with a part 2 to Post Mental, so that’s what we did! I acknowledged the positive change in the lyrics, and we decided to give this ending a 60s pop inspired sound with a Lo-fi twist.
Finally, the E.P’s youngest song is A New Sunshine. This is a breakup song, but probably the sweetest breakup song you’ll ever hear. I’d been in a relationship that was not perfect, but definitely meaningful for about a year and a half. In early 2021 I realised things were coming to an end as the two of us started University. The flaws in our relationship that we could handle in high school were more difficult to deal with as new young adults, so we calmly broke it off and remained friends. They are one of my best friends to this day and they even came to the listening party for this E.P while cracking a few jokes when this song came on about how they knew it was about them. I wrote this song the exact day we broke up. It definitely got a few tweaks as I started making it come to life though. In this song I talk about my excitement in moving on, not just from that relationship, but in my life in general now that I was fresh out of school. Kissing off the last of my teenage blues this E.P was tying up the loose ends of. For this songs influences I blended the shoegaze/dream pop influences from Lola Bunny and the alt-folk of the other songs and came up with something akin to Angel Olsen’s first album or Linger by The Cranberries. This song along with the first part of Post Mental took probably the longest to perfect, but it was a true labour of love that I’m glad finally came together eventually. Especially thanks to me and my cousin’s good friend Carson who gave us the twangy guitar solo towards the song’s end that I had envisioned in my mind but definitely couldn’t play.
I hope you enjoy the deeper insights into each Thing Is Me song and you enjoy the music if you haven’t already listened yet. Keep giving it love, and lemme know what you think :3 thank you ily

15 Questions for 15 Mutuals
Was tagged by @twosides--samecoin a bit ago but can finally get to it. I'll tag @pumpkinov @purkinje-effect @makkuromurasaki @alphedhel @blazefire2012 @space-kase @fuzzyizmit @coyoats @sparrowsingsstories and 9 is all I'm gonna be tagging.
1. Are you named after anyone?
Not that I can remember from what my parents said. I DO know I was going to be a Justina but there were too many Justinas in both families, so thank god I dodged that bullet.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I was gonna say 2 days ago from my PTSD from the car accident being triggered, but turns out I was this morning from art related incompetence :'))) Gotta love random thoughts that cause rapid mood swings.
3. Do you have kids?
No.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
The moment I step into the office at 6am I don't stop which is why I'm called sunshine at work now.
5. What sports do you play/have you played?
Volleyball and I miss it.
6. What's the first thing you notice about other people?
Their demeanor and how they shift their body even tho I suck at social queues, so it's prob why I fixate on that first to try to understand how I should respond without being a pos.
7. Eye color?
Pale blue. They used to be a bit brighter but it seems that my life has been slowly sucked away as I got older.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Scary.
9. Any special talents?
I guess researching and finding information of any kind out of sheer stubbornness and wanting to know more? It's mostly history and torrents. Sometimes I wonder if I would have enjoyed becoming a librarian if I wasn't a social mess.
10. Where were you born?
The shittiest borough of NYC 😬
12. Do you have any pets?
I technically have a dachshund but he's more my parents since I rarely see him. So not really? Tho I have been taking care of the roommate's two cats for the last several months bc she's such a responsible pet owner.
13. How tall are you?
5'6" / 168 cm
14. Fave subject in school?
It was always art thru primary schooling followed by history. In college when I was able to make my own decisions of what to take, I realized I enjoyed math as well.
15. Dream job?
It was and still is being an illustrator. I just want to try to convey a story thru it (since I'm terrible with writing) and make people happy with art if commissioned. I guess my dad had a lot of influence about making art and the humanities important since he loves reading and loved reciting Russian poetry as well as learning it as a kid when Poland was under communist control.

4, 8 and 17 c:
Hiya!
4. Link to a great meta you’ve read.
Unfortunately, this is where I reveal that I don't normally read a lot of meta unless it's pretty short. I do just so happen to have accidentally saved some to my drafts (I meant to queue it I think) but here it is (Maeglin meta). I'm typically a fan of anything that calls into question the narration of the Silm and deals with potential bias son the part of its in-universe writer(s). Especially where Maeglin, Eöl, and Aredhel are concerned, because I think there's a lot of bias in that narrative.
8. Best thing about canon
I really like the themes of Tolkien's work. Arda Marred and the thread of sadness woven through the song of creation really tug at my heart in a way that no other piece of media really does. I love the fact that the weight of history is felt in every part of Middle-earth and that though things bear the marks of the past, they sometimes cannot be restored. It's one of the things that I try valiantly to include in my own works based in Middle-earth.
17. Something you love that you don’t often share because you’re worried what others will think
There was a hint of it earlier there - did you see it? It's that all three of Aredhel, Maeglin, and yes, even Eöl are my blorbos. I have a very different interpretation of that situation than most people do; one that is borne out of my own life experience and so is a little vulnerable to discuss. I see the situation more as a slow-motion tragedy in which two people who were completely wrong for each other met, married, and realized far too late that they'd made a horrible mistake, influenced by the magic of the ancient trees of Nan Elmoth. My heart aches for them that this is what happened - they all deserved better. Other people's interpretations of this passage as evidence of abuse are absolutely valid, of course. But I don't interpret it that way, and I think my analysis is also perfectly valid (for the Silmarillion's text at least - not talking the HoME versions, which I see tagged as Silm more often than not). I have a fic in mind that would flesh out the version of events in my head, but I'm not sure I'll ever write it, since it goes so much against the grain of common fanon about them and is likely to make a lot of folks unhappy.
Thank you so very much for asking, my friend.
Asks to spread love

Was trawling back through my AO3 history and I started deleting deleted fics, which reduced the page count by like, 20 before I’d even gotten a 200 pages back from the oldest entries, so this is your reminder to check out and regularly use @nianeyna‘s ao3 downloader!!
(all gods bless you for sharing that, for serious, especially the pinboard functionality as apparently I AM a fandom dinosaur which is hilarious and somewhat inspirational at the same time)
(I am having some difficulties now finding and downloading the stuff I missed because it isn’t bookmarked on Pinboard from the AO3, only from LJ or whatever, which is why I started trawling my history in the first place and huh it looks like for the first few years I only left kudos when my head had been practically blown off, unlike my current categorizing system of ‘seen - tried, didn’t like’, ‘kudosed - read, liked’, ‘pinned to pinboard - read, liked enough to re-read’, ‘bookmarked on ao3 - read and holy shit i need a quick link to this fucker so i can read it again immediately on demand, and/or oh hey! series!’)
(I’m trying to make use of some other Python utilities I found for scraping my personal AO3 reading history but uh. I keep running into problems. u_u)

D&D as Disability Metaphor
N.B. Most of the ideas herein about spell slots/cantrips and mana/health points were sourced from various tumblr posts; please reblog with links if you have them! Also reblog with additional links to those tumblr posts about forks and knives!
In this metaphor, YOU are a D&D/RPG character!
Your CHARACTER BUILD reflects your strengths and weaknesses.
First: you have your basic STATS – INT, CON, WIS, DEX, STR, CHA – these are primarily determined by your baseline nature and your early nurture. (e.g., you may be born with a certain facility for learning, a natural sense of balance, perfect pitch, etc., or you may have spent much of your life playing sports and building strength and dexterity, or have been forced by circumstance to become Very Good at identifying people’s true motives and/or playing the part you need to play in any given situation, etc.)
Secondly: You have your basic ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES. These are primarily determined by your baseline nature but can be affected by nurture and change over time just as you do!
For example, you may be vision impaired – any task requiring good vision will have you at a natural disadvantage that can be mitigated by the use of an accessory or tool. So long as you have your accommodation, your natural disadvantage is entirely or partially nullified – instead of a negative 3 to skill checks involving vision, you might have a modifier of only negative 1 or even zero!
Another example:
You might be autistic or have other sensory processing issues that mean certain textures are ILLEGAL – any time you’re required to interact with that texture, you have to roll a WIS save to see how it impacts you.
On a bad day (in the metaphor, you roll a 1), you might be completely incapacitated for a time. On a good day, you might be able to use a positive modifier from a learned skill like DISTRESS TOLERANCE or DISENAGE to overcome the badness and only be partially incapacitated, or maybe not even incapacitated at all, just inflicted with a DEBUFF of some kind for a period of time. (This gives you a negative modifier for future skill checks and saving throws until the debuff expires or you take a LONG REST.)
On any given day, your disability (physical, mental, developmental, etc.) may give you a GENERAL DEBUFF that affects your skill checks and saving throws.
For example, if you have bipolar disorder and are in a depressive episode, you might have a negative 1 modifier to any social interaction, even if ‘normally’ you have a plus 3.
Or you might have chronic migraines and be having a debilitating headache that actually precludes the use of some skills/spells/actions at all – you might be incapable of leaving a dark room or of using your computer/phone.
Thirdly: In general, you can think of your overall capability to COPE as mana points, stamina points, spell slots, or anything similar. SPELL SLOTS is the easiest metaphor, just because of how the magic system is structured.
You have a given number of SPELL SLOTS on any single day, although a DEBUFF might reduce your baseline of slots for the day or a BUFF might actually give you an extra one! These spell slots correspond to the energy needed to perform various activities/tasks. The more difficult the task, the higher level of spell slot is required. BUT! If you’ve already used your third level spell slot for the day and need to “cast” another third level spell (another difficult activity), you can sacrifice multiple lower level spell slots in order to do so, with the disadvantage of having fewer slots left until your next LONG REST.
Some activities don’t drain you at all and can be done at any time (in this metaphor, they can be considered CANTRIPS). Some might even return used spell slots! (Think of this as taking a SHORT REST.) CANTRIPS are typically less effort or are of such benefit that they cancel out the level of effort required. They vary wildly based on the individual. An example for one person might be listening to an audiobook or taking a hot shower, while a different person might consider both of those first level spells.
Finally: The final part of this metaphor switches genres a little bit, so bear with me. This doesn’t tend to happen in the most well-known tabletop RPGs, but you’ve probably seen it in other popular media. Sometimes, you’re completely out of spell slots / mana / stamina, but you’ve got something you absolutely HAVE to do – either because it’s a necessity for your survival, or because you simply care about the thing so much that you’re willing to borrow against your future self.
In this kind of situation, you can ‘borrow’ spell slots from your future self (meaning you use it now, and therefore don’t have it available to use the next day), or you might start using your own health points in place of the missing mana.
Think about in fantasy media, when the magic user runs out of magic in the FINAL BATTLE and starts sacrificing their own life force to continue powering the spell. In some circumstances, they might drain themselves so completely that they can never use magic again, or it takes them years to recover. Similarly, a person with CFS who pushes themselves too hard one day might end up bedbound for days, weeks, or even months following.
Another example:
Someone with a torn ACL who stresses it during the healing process might find that it never heals completely/properly, permanently affecting their athletic ability.
TL;DR – D&D is actually a great extended metaphor for both short-term and long-term disabilities and how they impact a person’s life!
But it does. Uh. Require some background in RPG terms and tropes in order to fully understand it. If the person you’re trying to explain the concepts to is completely unfamiliar with RPGs, you may be better off with sticking with something more basic like Spoon* Theory (or the Unified Cutlery** Theory).
Citations etc. under the cut.
*See Christine Miserandino's spoon article here: https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/. Learn more @thespoontheory
**Unified Cutlery Theory, very overly simplified: Spoons = Energy, Forks = Things That Make Your Spoons Worth Less, Knives = Something You Need Help Addressing Or It’ll Make Things Worse
See @jenrosess' original post here: https://www.tumblr.com/jenroses/635100154258735104 and the update including knives here: https://www.tumblr.com/jenroses/635100154258735104/sheepscot-cipheramnesia-jenroses-have-i
(Apparently there are two competing Fork Theories? The one I'm used to is the one referenced above.)
***Mana and spell slots metaphors are really hard to source, y'all, so if you have links please add them in your reblogs!

first of all really admiring and enjoying your stonesford fics, and excitedly rereading sin city chap 1 over and over for the summer+nostalgia vibe (amazingly captured btw). just wondering as you seem to really get it: how do you think the physical attraction between John & Jordan happens (like specifics of their responses/reactions)? been trying to write them myself but it’s hard to grasp their nsfw dynamic :/ (having this issue with Hendo & Jack too so thoughts on them welcome 🙏)
Obviously everyone is going to be different in how they write attraction between two people, but for me it was apparent from the moment I first watched them in the last World Cup that they had bags of chemistry. The way they argue - really fucking going for each other in the middle of a game - is the direct opposite of how they care for each other - eg. John going to him first after the euro penalties, the way they laugh together, the way John has always had time for Jordan even when he was on the outside of the group because he was new and different to the rest of the guys. They’re one of those rare pairings that are physically very similar. They’re the same height and of the same age, both born in 94, and they’re the same emotionally because they were brought up under similar circumstances (north England, normal school experiences, neither went to a big club academy). This context is important because half the work with writing fic is trying to justify and create these threads but with John and Jordan they already exist and you just need to tie them together. With all of this in mind you can begin to understand how it would make sense that amongst this crazy world of senior men’s football, each of them serves as a homing beacon for the other where it doesn’t matter if they explode at each other during a game because they can be that for one another and it’s understood that it never leaves the pitch. The opposite effect of this then would be that they’re able to blow off other sorts of steam together and it wouldn’t be a big deal after the fact either. You’ve got hyper social and happy John, who’s just everyone’s favourite all the time, and quiet and reserved Jordan, who’s only John’s favourite. Jordan never ever has to fight for John’s attention and he’s never ever phased when John’s attention whoring himself out because he’s known him so long and because he knows he always comes back. This would drive anyone with a personality like john’s crazy. The eagerness to please would be astronomical, the desire to let this person take every bit of you because they don’t seem to be arsed whether they get it either way would be enormous. On the flip side Jordan gets to worship and adore this man without having to lower himself in any way, without having to queue up and beg for it like everyone else, and they just sexually mesh perfectly. They play football together seamlessly, repeatedly making saves that you watch and think how did they do that, how did he anticipate that he’d be there, so you can imagine they’d treat each other’s bodies with the same unspoken instinct. Slotting together flawlessly, long legs and long fingers, strength in a stocky form but also in a sinewy purely muscular way, soft hair and kisses that don’t need to be bent down for, and reams and reams of history that at once justifies, explains and sustains the whole idea. If John liked looking at Jack’s crotch and he liked playing with Mason’s hair and he’s always working to prove himself as worthy of playing beside Rúben, his entire relationship with Jordan is the opposite. It’s unthinking, automatic, instinctive. It’s being taken care of and being eager to take that care. It’s only wanting to be together at the end of the day when the cameras are off and everyone else is doing their own thing and you’re left with your thoughts and nothing else. Hendo and Grealish are more obviously physical without having to know the back story to justify. There’s power dynamics, old vs new, captain vs captain, there’s slutty, disaster jack and cross wearing straight laced Hendo. Bodily worship and having sex to claim dominance, none of it gentle or soft, all of it completely filthy. John and Jordan = fucking because they need each other. Hendo and jack = fucking because they want each other. I hope this makes sense……

Abortion in Poland - ‘Hell for women’
‘Why should old men decide on my body!’ - that’s what were asking many girls and women in Poland in 2020 22nd of October.
‘They never went through this emotional and physical pain of not considering your body as your own but as a ‘machine to make babies’ because that’s what women were born for, right?!’
It’s been three years now since the decision to make abolition illegal in Poland. Of course the government says it’s protect women and their children but is is really true? How many examples of women being left for death and endangering their lives you have to see to understand that you’ve just made them suffer more.
Even in such extreme cases like rape, women are still obliged to show some proof of prohibition act which makes it almost impossible for the rape survivors to obtain abortion. If there is a possibility of life threatening complications from pregnancy, still the doctors will say to a woman: ‘there is nothing we can do now, you have to wait because they might think we did it on purpose.’
As a woman in my country with current government I don’t feel like my body belongs to me, it doesn’t and maybe in everyday situations I won’t think about it. But when it comes to those decisions, it’s not going to be my choice. And this is not right!
"STOP KILLING US"
"WE WANT DOCTORS NOT MISSIONARIES"
Protesters shouting.
Polish people are demanding their rights and they are going to fight for it. Looking at the history of Poland we were born with anger and power inside us. It doesn’t matter how many years or how difficult it’s going to be, we won’t give up until we get our rights back, rights to decide on our own self.
Last month, the election was held in Poland. Many Polish people came back from different countries just to vote. But also, thousands of others voted in the UK. I myself went to one of the district in London. I was waiting for 5 hours in a queue outside the building because no one was prepared for this amount of people showing up. But still like everyone else, I stayed in that queue. No matter how long you have to wait especially it that cold weather, when it comes to your rights and your family’s safety, you will do everything.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
Overall take on project
I am really happy I could work with people that are as passionate about this topic as I am. We created an environment where we could freely share our thoughts and feelings about quite controversial issues. At the beginning of our work together we discussed and sectioned which one of us would do which topic. That’s why we didn’t have any problems and difficulties to finish everything on time. What was also interesting about working together was seeing different approaches and life experiences on certain subjects added in our manifesto. I think this combination gives us more personal and powerful tenor on our final project.

Exploring Nathuram Godse and Related Books
Tumblr media
Today is a digital age. The world is running at a fast pace. With that pace, the need to know has never been higher. The quest for knowledge is never ending. Book play a major part in a seeker’s life. It helps him explore the depths of unknown realms of this world. The need to stand at long queues and wait for to rent books has drastically reduced. Many people turn to book buying sites to explore a wide range of topics and authors. One such topic that ignites the curious readers is the life and beliefs of Nathuram Godse. The most debated figure in Indian history. This essay aims to shed light on books related to Nathuram Godse and his ideology. We will discuss his life, his role in history, and the books available on this subject.
Who Was Nathuram Godse?
Tumblr media
Nathuram Godse was an Indian patriot who had strong idea towards a better India after freedom. His ideas were mostly radical ones. He was born in a small village in Pune, India, in 1910. Growing up, he walked with several groups in a vision to build that nation. He often felt isolated as his ideas differed from the group. He went on to build his own group of young patriots. He gained notoriety for his heinous action of killing Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. Godse grew up in a radical and politics filled world. His early years were marked by his interest and visionary ideas on the building of the nation and its future.
Godse's Role in History
Nathuram Godse's was just another guy with radical ideas on the nation until he lifted his gun to shoot Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948. Gandhi, known as the father of the Indian nation, advocated non-violence. He believed that with peaceful protests, one could win anything. Gandhi played a pivotal role in India's struggle for freedom from British colonial rule. Godse, on the other hand, held opposing views and believed that violence was necessary to achieve India's goals. Varying ideas has always been a part of political discourse in India. But, the reluctance of the Congress to include harsh measures to drive out the British angered many patriots. This finally condenses down into the terrible act of killing of Gandhi.
Godse's killing of Gandhi shocked the world and had far-reaching impact on  India's history. He was arrested, put on trial, and was hanged to death. His execution took place on November 15, 1949.
Books on Nathuram Godse
Tumblr media
Interest in Nathuram Godse and his beliefs has led to writers of differing ideas writing books on Nathuram Godse. The books delve into his life, ideology, and the events leading up to Gandhi's killing. These books speak about the political air of the nation at that time. At the same time, these books implore, upon studying the mind of the killer. Here are a few noteworthy books on Nathuram Godse:
1. "Why I Assassinated Mahatma Gandhi" by Nathuram Godse
This book is notorious to be one of the brave attempts where the killer goes on to write and justify his own act. Godse wrote this book while serving jail after he killed Gandhi. He doesn't sound to apologize about his action. The book is filled with his efforts to justify the act.
2. "The Men Who Killed Gandhi" by Manohar Malgonkar
   - Manohar Malgonkar's book offers a detailed account of the events leading up to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, with a focus on the conspirators involved, including Nathuram Godse.
3. "Gandhi and Godse: A Review and a Critique" by Sita Ram Goel
This book makes an analysis. It puts either ideals to test. It examines the ideas and vision of Gandhi. Godse’s ideas are also written. The author tries to take a middle ground, putting forth the facts and records.
4. "Nathuram Godse: The Hidden Story" by Dhaval Kulkarni
This book sheds light on the life of Godse. It is a biography. The main focus of the book is upon the childhood and growth of Nathuram. It explores in the study of topics that made him a patriot. Mr. Kulkarni has made an in-depth research on the life of Godse. This could be the singular best biography of Godse.
5. "The RSS and the BJP: A Division of Labour" by Walter K. Andersen and Shridhar D. Damle
This book doesn't speak more about the personal lives of either Gandhi or Godse. It is one of the books on Nathuram godse where the past incidents are explored. The situation that was in the country, the mindset of communities and sects are written about. The political condition of the state at that time is put down to words with good clarity.
Conclusion
Nathuram Godse remains a debated and puzzling figure in Indian history. His action remains as one of the bitter stories in the freedom of India. The act will never be forgiven. The freedom for us to research on the issues with an open mind lets us be the judge. It makes us to study and understand the ideas and conflicts that lead to this killing. Books on Nathuram Godse provide readers with insights into his life and ideology. They speak about the dominoes of events that led to this tragic event. By reading these books, one can gain a deeper grasp of the complex history and the conflict of the ideas that led to Godse's actions. Book buying sites offer a convenient way to access these texts and engage with this important aspect of India's history.
The reason that we are allowed to study on such a bitter matter speaks loads about our country.
Let us make use of the chances and engage in a healthy debate about our country.

Classic songs with a long history
You were born to be a camera
Time After Time was my least favourite song
So lets go way back to the ancient times
She was a January girl
She never let on how insane it was in that tiny kinda scary house
Who’s in a bunker? Who’s in a bunker?
Let me hear both sides
We're not scaremongering
Mobiles skwerking, mobiles chirping
“Your servants.”
In a couple of years tides have turned from boos to cheers
The youth are starting to change, are you?
I believe in watching you
This is where we are and this is where you are and this is what we’re doing and this is what it is and that’s now, and now is a good thing
“What do you want from me? Are you trying to punish me?”
Every face on every train is you and me and him and her
If I walk out the door
A thousand eyes
Fish are dangerous
Now if you’re a fish
One anchovy fucks it up for the rest
“I guess I can lick it.”
They used to shout my name, now they whisper it
But I got my fingers laced together and I made a little prison
And I'm locking up everyone that ever laid a finger on me
Boy, watch your jaw
You will be married and you'll be gone
It'll be right in a little while
This question I found in a gap in the sidewalk
Someones on the bathroom floor doing her cocaine
(By grace, my sight grows stronger)
We won't say goodnight until the last minute
This may be our last chance
Live stream, I'm sweet for you
Callin' out, bang bang, kiss kiss
“You write, I tour, we make it work.”
(The early storylines were that Jakk was either shot, or while the blondrichclosetwitch was touring with HRC, that she got herself pregnant in November before she went on the road. I remember doing the math with the calendar when it was announced to me that she forced herself on him, and got pregnant from it. Meanwhile psychic Jakk listed off violent acts that were being done to make him go through with things, like whipping him with a strap and holding a gun to his head, aka bang bang kiss kiss…all this I was told about when blondie was on the road. From a letter to my analyst: “on August 4 Jakk told Blond he was done and wanted to be with me. The violence had not yet started. It started on August 5 with a strap/whip. On August 7. She used a gun. Blond raped Jakk 51 times using a whip, gun, or knife, often all 3, telling him, he would never see me again and that he belonged to her forever. He was forced to wear a gag. He had to go home every night because she said if he didn’t, she would take the gun and kill me. ”
And the “you write” part, was her fanfic counterpart.)
he’ll get to you and shoot you with his gun
New Orleans….very strange!
I don’t think we have the key to the pulse of the nation because we made more mistakes than we’ve been right. We are universally despised.
“They’re like part of our psyche.”
The music keeps getting better and better it gets more subtle and sophisticated.
It’s gonna open the scene up for a lot of people.
There’ll probably be a big trial.
Maybe I’ll keep it a diary of the whole thing and publish it in Esquire, I must have been out of my mind. If I had the whole thing to do over again I wouldn’t do it.
I thought I knew what I was doing.
Horrible thing about a photograph is, once it’s done you can’t destroy it. It’s too late.
Talk gets around crazy talk like that and what happens?
I was stuck in the queue when you came
Nobody wants to be a slave
There's a heartbreak beat playin' all night long down on my street
And it feels like love got the radio on
And it's all that we need
I have some scars from where I've been
I can never keep my eyes off this
All we do is think about the feelings that we hide
All we do is sit in silence waiting for a sign
Sick and full of pride

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
Tumblr media
"Germany will soon be empty"
For a handful of years after college, I never read a book. I obviously had to read things in everyday life, but the most progress I made in any single book was getting halfway through American Psycho before putting it down for three years. By the way, that book gets batshit disgusting in the second-half stretch, and makes me shudder at the thought of a rat as much as the book our film of the day was based upon.
When 2022 rolled around, I thought about what resolutions I could pretend I'd follow through on. Exercise, diet, all the usual ones you give up by the Lunar New Year (January 22nd this year, I had to look it up). After looking at the near empty bookshelves in my office, I thought 'why not start reading books this year?' And a resolution was born, and I'm proud of myself for reading 12 titles total, one per month, before Christmas. My last book ended up being Stephen King's It. A book so thorough in it's set-ups, themes, and length (1100 pages, go fuck yourself Stevie) that it made me hate the 2017 movie adaptation and its sequel after revisiting them. For the record, I think the TV movie with Tim Curry is a better adaptation of that story.
I kept today's movie in my Netflix queue forever, waiting to get done with It and move to this title so I had a chance to read the 1929 novel before seeing the most recent adaptation (apparently there were 1930 and 1979 movies made about the book). 159 quick pages breezed by, and I finally sat on my bare mattress, with the sheets in the wash, to watch Edward Berger's 2017 offering.
When I was reading All Quiet on the Western Front, I realized I was becoming the very thing I rolled my eyes at for years: people who can't stop telling you how much better the book was than the movie. Even when I was a kid, I loathed the classmate that talked about how much better the Harry Potter series was than the films. Yeah, shithead, we all read them and yeah, asshole, they were mostly all more detailed and richer than the movies. Except Order of the Phoenix, yeesh that book is a slog to finish. Snooze city.
Therefore, I'm not going to spend much of this review talking about the differences between All Quiet on the Western Front (2022): the book and the movie. I'll save those points for the end if anyone is interested in reading the major ones I noticed. With that out of the way, let's get on to the review--
First, the movie is all in German (as it should be) so make sure you're in for 2 1/2 hours of intently watching this film. I have no idea if there is a dub available since I know Netflix likes to do that sometimes, but please don't watch anything dubbed. Just read the damn movie, it's so much better when you don't have to suspend belief when words don't match moving mouths.
This movie follows a group of bright-eyed, young adult German recruits enlisting in the army during World War I, sent to fight in the trenches on a path to Paris in what they believe will be three days long. They are subjected to the brutal, grim, unforgiving reality of trench warfare and beaten down from idealistic teens to emotionally dulled war fodder. It is realistic and critical of its depictions of combat, war politics, and loss.
I'm a big fan of war movies, and was always fascinated with World War II history like every young white boy who couldn't fight to save his life. However, I had not researched World War I as much but was fascinated with the release of 1917 and was looking forward to this film, expecting it to be another vicious depiction of The Great War. And fuck was this movie heavy and took a more Hacksaw Ridge approach to the violence.
The cinematography in this movie is perfect in my opinion. The trenches and battlefields are constantly muddy and fog mists down and blinds the viewer and soldiers from the terror hiding within. These scenes are countered with the warm-lit luxury of political leaders' offices far from the front lines, and French countryside. I've seen some complaints about the movie feeling dreary and depressing. Uh, yeah that's the point. Nobody claims Saving Private Ryan is too dreary because it's the fucking point.
The acting, all by German actors I've personally never seen before, is also great. I swear the lead actor Felix Kammerer who plays Paul is just the German version of the kid in 1917. Albrecht Schuch is fantastic as Kat, who ends up having the closest bond with Paul. Everyone else is decently well-rounded or just play their character trope before being horribly killed, frankly.
I liked the addition of the political storyline headed by Daniel Bruhl negotiating Germany's terms of surrender (although refusing to say it). I thought is was a good underline of the movie's theme that government and politics think of soldiers as means to an end and second priority to their own desires.
There's nothing I can really mention that could have been done better in this movie. While it was an important part of the book, maybe they didn't have to show the scene of Paul stabbing the French soldier half to death and watching him die in a crater. That could have taken the 2:30 hour runtime and cut it down to 2:15 by cutting that alone, which is a bit more palatable of a runtime. I'm annoyed by the recent wave of movies with 2:30+ runtimes that really have no business being that long. Marvel, I'm looking at you in particular.
Overall, this is a very successful war film, a decent adaptation of the source material, and a movie I'm sure will garner a few awards.
All Quiet on the Western Front: 8.2/10
Now, for those of you interested in differences between the book and the movie, and what I thought of their choices, here we go-
The major difference I noticed is the removal of the plotlines where Paul goes on leave to visit his family and when he serves as a prison guard, and when he and Kat lie in the hospital. Instead, they have written out the political storyline of the generals hammering out details of surrender, and giving background on the mustached general who eventually sends off the troops on a fools errand at the end of the movie. Personally, I liked the political storyling to emphasize the disconnect between the government and it's soldiers, but I think the book did it the better way.
In the book, it shows not only the disconnect between the leaders and men, but also the soldiers and their families, neighbors, and fellow citizens. They've been through so much shit they can't function normally in society, and begin feeling sympathy for their captured enemies. I think that would be a bit more interesting than the film's choices. If you haven’t read it, I recommend you do so.
