Ok. There's something going on and I need to talk about it.
We've all seen that AidaIro is posting new art every day, and on the 18th there will be a new chapter.
But I noticed something, all these arts are about the last arc and are telling the story of it again.
Let me show you
Tumblr media
The first one we had was on chapter 111, which shows Yashiro. Everything is normal, but behind her we can see typical theater spotlights, it could just be something mundane or reference her school play rehearsals. Well we started with this.
Tumblr media
So we have this art of 12y Tsukasa. Referencing when Yashiro and Mitsuba ended up in the past and found 12y Tsukasa talking to them. He said a rumor about the big clock that further opened the theme of this arc, really an omen for everything.
Tumblr media
This art by Sakura is worth mentioning, as she is part of the broadcast gang. She is behind everything, and theories about her being the god or something powerful are increasing more and more. It's worth mentioning that she wished something for Tsukasa, everything he's doing is because of her (because of Amane too, but he has a bond with Sakura). Sakura is an extremely important piece in this puzzle.
Tumblr media
Let the fun begin! Next in the series we have Mitsuba and Kou enjoying their time at the festival. Eating and playing together. We were informed, the festival has started.
Tumblr media
More moments at the festival. This scene happened in the manga, it is the beginning of the festival that we see. Hanako and Yashiro in the haunted house made by Kou's class. Until that moment everything was normal (or so we thought).
Tumblr media
This one is curious. We only see seal Tsukasa in this arc after the plan is initiated. But I believe he was also out there enjoying his last moments. And you can tell that it's really Tsukasa and not the creature. Well, now we're getting close.
Tumblr media
Ohhh look what we have here! President and vice-president enjoying the festival as well, despite their work they still managed to find some time to have fun. Natsuhiko had already confronted Akane earlier and Teru had already discovered the black crane, they were probably already alert for anything suspicious. But, everything's still normal.
Tumblr media
We return to Sakura, now in her maid outfit. We also have Natsuhiko's first appearance in these arts. This was possibly before or during the festival, but following the chronological line it must have been during. Note that until then this was the only art that did not have a black border (I will talk about this later). Moving on to the next...
Tumblr media
From here things started to get serious. The plan had begun. This moment happens in chapter 105. Blood had started to spread throughout the auditorium and Hanako noticed that something was wrong. We are just a few steps away from entering No.1 boundary.
Tumblr media
And finally we have today's art. The revelation of the immortal human, Natsuhiko. Breaking the timeline, in this art we go back to chapter 104, where Natsuhiko spreads his blood across the clock, thus executing the plan to go after the last yorishiros.
And these were all the arts released so far, the arts that reference the arc in this case. They all seem to be retelling the story of the Festival arc. Now why? Why would AidaIro be recapping the last arc?
We know that the past has changed and everything has a chance of being different from what we know. We go back to the beginning of the festival, where nothing had happened yet. Therefore, none of these events had happened, if everything really changed, the arts are telling an alternative version of history, the version we know.
Moving from analysis to theory... did you notice that almost all arts have a black border? Black borders are used to indicate flashbacks, the past in JSHK. Now, why would they be using this artifice? Assuming the present has changed, this would be the past. But not a past like something that happened years ago, but a past that no longer exists, in the sense of what it was before this current one. That's why the black borders, indicating that this would be the past.
What breaks this theory is Sakura's art in her maid outfit, as it doesn't have a black border. Maybe the borders are part of the new AidaIro style and are something made to style the arts, or actually have a connection to something. Well, that part is just a crazy theory.
But what do you think of this analysis? The images seem to be telling the arc of the festival all over again, and for what reason? Maybe we'll find out on the 18th, when chapter 112 comes out.

Hanako-kun's Big Puzzle
Tumblr media
I've been racking my brains over Hanako-kun for a long time now, trying to decipher the story is a lot of fun, but when it started dealing with temporal paradox I realized it would have more work than I imagined.
Generally, stories that change time tend to make our heads hard to understand. I like to divide it into parts and by characters and their importance, for example, I think Tsuchigomori is a very important piece here. A guy who can change someone's future (of course, having to sacrifice himself to do so) but this is a skill with a certain importance and that I don't see almost anyone talking about. Maybe it will be used later.
Tumblr media
Each character placed here seems to have an importance in the story, it wasn't done for nothing, it has a reason. We have Nene's mysterious family, at the same time Teru's family with his equally mysterious father, Aoi who descends from the Kannagis, Mitsuba, who mysteriously found Tsukasa, I don't need to mention Sakura or Natsuhiko here.
They all guide us along a path in history, each one has a piece of it in their hands, besides of course, the Yugi twins and their "pet monster" who lives under the house.
The red house itself and the school are important, the details. I've been thinking about all of this and how the story would be summarized so far.
Kou's family, as has been said many times, is a family of exorcists who have been in the business since the time when supernaturals were called Yokais. At some point in time, we arrived at the village of Kannagis, considering that there was a God who should be obeyed, in the sense of being fed within a certain period of time, if this is not done, several supernaturals spread and start to devour the village people.
Tumblr media
Considering that the Minamotos helped protect and create the Kannagis, it means that they still did not have enough power to destroy this "God" and made this agreement to sacrifice young women to him.
We follow Sumire's life, which makes it clear to us how it happens. At some point in time, the last Kannagi in the village was thrown, a young boy. If no others came later, it can only mean that the village ended up being destroyed or the people were devoured, or at best, they left.
Tumblr media
There is still a possibility that the Minamoto managed to seal the passage. After that we have a big time jump. A family that went to live in a house that occasionally whispered to one of the boys. A boy who got too involved with this creature in order to help his older brother. And Tsukasa taught him to speak, even if he didn't mean to.
Tumblr media
He became the new sacrifice right after the last Kannagi. There he started to live in a parallel place that changes and transforms whenever he sees fit, going back and forth in time whenever he wants. But we don't know if other supernaturals came out of there like they did in the village.
After 6 months Tsukasa returns with the creature. Then the house becomes cursed. Then we have Amane, the mysterious older brother who took his brother's life and his own. We don't know much about what happened afterwards, except that no one can inhabit it anymore because it consumed everyone who entered it.
All the people were still there, as Tsukasa said, they were the new Kannagis. So they had to ban it and the Minamoto knew of its existence. Teru mentions that the Kannagi boy being there is geographically strange. Which indicates the connection between the supernatural passages. Everything under the house is a well that leads to an unowned boundary, an empty place.
Tumblr media
But nothing indicates that it was always there, the house changes the way it wants. So perhaps it has a direct connection with the village, which in this case is the current school.
And this is where I wanted to get to. The school, one of the most important characters in this story. It was here that the Minamoto seem to have had the most work. We have the famous boundaries, where some specific supernaturals were chosen (perhaps?) to take care of the passages between the far edge and the next.
Each of them is there to keep the peace, doesn't that seem like a deal made between humans and supernaturals? The Minamotos seem to have done this before. The Yorishiros are seals, and the only difference between them and Hanako's seal is the color, so are they containment seals?
Tumblr media
Perhaps to keep that God contained and under control. In exchange for this, other supernaturals could roam freely as long as they did not harm humans and humans would leave them alone just the same.
But then we have Amane, who transforms into Hanako, we don't know how, but it seems there are signs that this was problematic. He gave the Minamoto a lot of work. What was Hanako trying to do? Was he aware of what he did?
His and Tsukasa's connection with this God is somewhat problematic. The twins could have been trying to free him for some purpose but were stopped.
Perhaps the creature took control of his body, and when Hanako was sealed, he returned to his original form and somehow managed to become one of the guardians of the boundary.
Tumblr media
But Tsukasa doesn't seem to agree with that. Even during that same period, the relatives of the Minamoto brothers never showed a sign of life, at least to us and Teru has an unconditional hatred for all supernaturals, it is very obvious that it is because they did something that apparently hurt him a lot.
Because I still believe that his mother died from something related to the supernatural, but Teru doesn't tell Kou. Where are the other Minamotos?
In short, it is as if the Minamotos had sealed the "God" and forced some supernaturals to take care of it, the Yorishiros have the appearance of everything that their owner loves and wants to protect, so they themselves would not destroy it, guaranteeing that they will fulfill His duty is to maintain peace in the world of humans.
But each time a yorishiro is removed, more supernaturals come to the side of the living, as we saw on the day of separation. So Tsukasa wants to remove the seals, and when he removes them, Sakura said that everything will be destroyed.
A revenge from this God?
Aidairo left the information in the air that if Hanako's seal comes out, the world will fall into disarray. Kou said that his grandmother had trouble sealing Hanako, she couldn't exorcise him, to show how strong he was.
Tumblr media
So, the creature could be sealed in Hanako. Remove all the yorishiros so that the passages are clear, remove Hanako's seal so that God can return and perhaps take revenge.
Yashiro, the Kannagi who has purifying powers, we don't know anything about her or her family, but we know that she has this ability, there was a complete chapter of the manga just to show this.
Tumblr media
Tsukasa seems to play with her from the beginning, on purpose as if he were guiding her towards Hanako, he spies on them and doesn't interrupt when there are even romantic moments between them, as if he wanted that to happen, he stays until the end to confirm that the things are going as he wishes.
Tumblr media
Like in this scene, where Tsusukasa appears right after the Hanene kiss, he was there from the beginning watching them.
He wants to use her as a bargaining chip, to manipulate Hanako, and in order for him to manipulate him, he would have to take away from him what he loves most at the moment. Or, the other possibility would be that he would use her so that in the end she would save Amane, even if she died in the process.
There's no way to know. Tsukasa probably won't be there to see it, as he's Hanako's yorishiro. But we don't know what Yashiro can actually offer us, but as our protagonist, she has an important and crucial role here.
Tsukasa has a strong connection with the creature and Hanako seems to be interested in the wish that this God can conceive if the seals are removed.
So we have the owners of the boundaries. Each with its own history and importance. Yako exists to show us how any supernatural can transform into something totally different from what it really is, but there is still its essence in it, perhaps a future reference to Hanako, who shows signs of being something totally different from what we imagine or even the way we look at Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
Tsuchigomori, shows us not only Amane's past, but that he has a key that can be used, "the curator can change the future" considering that time is relevant to the story, this should be important in the future.
Tumblr media
Each mystery has a narrative function in the story, whether to tell us something about the past or to prepare us for what will come in the future. Now we are in the arc of the clock, of time, where perhaps they will show us why time is important here.
Why is Yashiro getting Amane's key important? Tsukasa did everything so that she would purposely find him there, at that moment, he even left her with Natsuhiko so he could guide her, even if he pretended not to.
Tumblr media
The person moving the story forward is Tsukasa. And he uses Nene for this, he wants to change the past, and of course, for Amane and perhaps for the creature that lives inside him.
But what does Tsukasa really want? No one knows about his desires, what he likes, his dreams (if he had any) everything is always about Amane.
Maybe the creature is using Tsukasa to free itself, the boy helps him, removes the seals, frees him, and lets the supernaturals do what they want. So he uses Yashiro so that maybe she can save her brother when this God is freed, she dies and in return he gets a wish, a wish that goes to Hanako, perhaps?
And what would Hanako want? Save Tsukasa? Save Yashiro? Back in time? Never existed?
There's no way to know. The information is still incomplete. And the role of Sakura and Natuhiko? And Mitsuba? There are still pieces missing from this puzzle, so everything I said could just be a delusion in my head, which even makes some sense.
There are other details that I haven't mentioned here so as not to prolong, but that's what I've interpreted so far. There's still the romance, the possessiveness, their motivations, there are still pieces missing.

“Keiji! Oh my gosh, Keiji! You made it!”
Akaashi looks up to see Koutarou’s sister, Kana, hurrying towards him, a drink in one hand and her phone in the other. She takes the front steps of her family’s large house two at a time, an impressive feat in her high heels.
Knowing full well the force of a Bokuto Hug™️, Akaashi braces himself for impact. “Oof,” he grunts as the woman pulls him in. She’s tall—with her shoes she matches his own height. His face is firmly pressed into a nest of monochrome hair.
“Hello, Kana,” he greets, returning the embrace. “It’s so nice to see you.”
“You too!” She pulls back, grinning. Akaashi takes a moment to take in her appearance. She’s dressed up as a ghost of some kind, wearing a tattered grey dress with pieces falling off the sleeves and a long slit up one leg. Her makeup is powder white with black around her eyes and lips.
“Come in, come in!” She links their arms, pulling him towards the house. “The party’s already started!”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be here early to help set up,” he says. “This is incredible.”
The Bokuto home is decorated like a proper haunted mansion. The outside is covered in lights and tattered cloth, with creepy faces in each of the many front-facing windows. The inside is even more elaborate, with candles everywhere, spiderwebs and dark drapery.
“That’s okay! Kou told us you were at the office late.” Kana pokes his side with one finger. “You work too hard, Keiji!”
His laugh is hollow. “Yeah. I mean, I didn’t even have time to find a costume…”
“Oh, don’t worry about that.” She winks. Akaashi raises an eyebrow, but before he can question what she means, she’s leading him into the fray.
The event is indeed in full swing. There are guests everywhere. He recognizes some other Bokutos—the eldest sibling, Kai, waves as they pass by—as well as a few professional volleyball players, influencers, artists and politicians.
Akaashi knew that the Bokuto family were influential in Tokyo, but seeing it in person is something else entirely.
When they make it to the bar, they find Koutarou on the other side, shaking up a cocktail. His eyes light up when he sees Akaashi. A beaming smile splits his face. “Babe! You’re here!”
Akaashi can’t help but gawk. His boyfriend looks amazing. The man wears a similar costume to his sister, with ripped grey clothing and ghoulish makeup. Koutarou’s t-shirt is torn at the sleeves, showing off his biceps, and a slash in the front shows off a delicious strip of abdominal. The pants are tight. Very tight.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, Akaashi smiles back. “H-hi, Kou.” He allows Koutarou to lean over the bar and press a quick kiss to his cheek.
“Wait for a bit, okay?” He bumps their noses. “My cousin said he’d take over bartending for me soon. Then I’m all yours!”
Akaashi nods, trying and failing not to blush. He doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to his boyfriend’s unabashed displays of affection. It used to make him nervous, at least a little bit, but these days it just renders him dumbstruck.
Ugh, Keiji is so in love with this man.
He settles onto a barstool as Koutarou whips him up a strong, whisky-based cocktail. Kai eventually makes her way over with her husband, Yuto, in tow. They converse about books, art history and Kai’s latest stint with the Australian Ballet.
It’s not until the Bokuto parents show up that Akaashi realizes: The family is doing a group costume. All of them are wearing the same ghostly clothing and makeup. Their father’s outfit is similar to Bokuto’s, and Kai and their mother are wearing dresses like Kana, though each has its own unique flair. Even Yuto had adorned a matching yukata.
“Thank you for inviting me,” Akaashi says, bowing his head. “You all look wonderful. I apologize for my late arrival, and for not dressing up.”
Koutarou's mother chuckles and shoves his arm playfully. “Oh, Kana didn’t tell you?”
“Huh?” Akaashi blinks. He glances at each of the Bokutos and Yuto, all of whom are wearing identical grins. He spins to meet his boyfriend’s eyes, which are full of mischief. “Kou, what are they…”
“C’mon!” Kana is suddenly pulling him off his stool and back through the crowd. Kai is hot on their heels. Akaashi barely has time to hand off his drink glass to a random passerby as he’s guided upstairs.
“Where are we going?” He asks, only slightly nervous. Both women laugh. Kai’s small hands press into his back eagerly.
“To change into your costume, of course!”
Twenty minutes later, Akaashi is staring at himself in the mirror, astonished. The costume consists of a pair of high-waisted pants and a tight, long-sleeved shirt that dips below his collarbones. It matches the Bokuto family; muted grey and white and tattered in various places. His makeup is similar to the others in the group, with dark, sunken eyes, but there’s an extra emphasis on his lips and cheekbones.
He has to admit, it’s a very cool look. "Thank you," he breathes as Kana finishes working his hair into a properly tousled style. "Truly. You guys didn't have to..."
"Of course we did," Kai replies, gently touching his forearm. "It's a family costume, after all."
Akaashi finds his boyfriend waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs as he rejoins the party. He silently delights in watching the man’s eyes bulge and jaw drop.
“It’s not often our little Kou is rendered speechless,” Kai giggles, lightly slapping her brother’s arm. But Koutarou pays no mind, instead reaching to help Akaashi down the last two steps.
“You look so hot, babe,” he rasps. “It’s not fair! How do you look so good in that?!”
Akaashi snorts. “You’re one to talk...”
Together, they head outside to where Kana has set up a tripod and camera. Apparently, the idea is to take a family Halloween portrait.
And they all want Akaashi to be part of it.
It’s strange, the warm feeling that seeps into Akaashi as he stands there, surrounded by the entire Bokuto clan. This big family, as close as they are, have pulled him so effortlessly into their unit. Too often has Akaashi felt like he doesn’t belong—but not tonight. Not with them.
He only hopes that Koutarou will be welcomed as warmly into his own family someday.
The party rages on until early in the morning. Akaashi dances, drinks and eats a bit too much, but so does everyone else, so he doesn’t feel too embarrassed.
Its nearing 2am as he and Koutarou stumble upstairs. They rub most of the makeup off their faces before heading to Koutarou’s childhood bedroom, where they strip out of their costumes and slip under the bedclothes. Keiji giggles as his boyfriend burrows into his neck, hot breath tickling skin.
“Koutarou,” he chides, “your parents are right outside.”
He feels the man smile. “They wouldn’t care. I mean, we’re all adults here.”
Keiji scoffs, pushing him back enough to duck down and lock their lips. The kiss lingers, then deepens, but they are both too tired to go very far with it. Instead, they settle into each other’s embrace, sleep creeping into their bodies slowly.
Keiji feels so content here. So safe. So happy. “Thank you for inviting me tonight,” Keiji mutters into his boyfriend’s chest. The man shifts slightly, tucking his chin over black curls.
“Happy Halloween, Keiji.”
“Happy Halloween, Koutarou.”
//
Hope you all enjoyed this silly little thing. I am only posting it to Tumblr, as I do not want to clog the Twitter timeline with a long thread. So PLEASE help me out with a reblog!  Likes and replies are appreciated, but a reblog allows this story to reach another possible reader. Thank you and Happy Halloween! 🎃

Relationship Kintsugi
A breaking curse manifested during the past several weeks at our house. Beloved cups, bowls and plates slipped out of hands, mysteriously knocked against each other in the drying rack. More than once, we fished around in the garbage can for remains that were prematurely dismissed and superglued them back together. Our aspirations were modest: bring back ‘many’ into ‘one’. We didn’t attempt repairs that could have made the object more beautiful than before it broke.
But I do have that ambition for one particular repair. I started thinking about ‘relationship kintsugi’ when I realized that the bond I had with someone very dear to me had broken. I wanted neither to discard the pieces, nor to fix things as if nothing hurtful had ever happened. I longed for a repair with gold dust, slowly, carefully, lovingly made, unashamed of keeping visible a painful history.
I cannot wait to see how Yoneda Kou sensei, mistress of the universe, will perform kintsugi for Yashiro and Doumeki’s relationship.

DIABOLIK LOVERS CHAOS LINEAGE Stellaworth Tokuten Drama CD: “The Vampire’s Every Day: Board Game Edition ~ Kou/Yuma VS Carla/Shin ~”
Tumblr media
Original title:「ヴァンパイア達の日常ボードゲーム編~コウ・ユーマVSカルラ・シン~」
Source: Diabolik Lovers Chaos lineage Animate Tokuten Drama CD
Audio: Here
Seiyuu: Suzuki Ryouhei, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Morikawa Toshiyuki & Morikubo Shoutarou
Translator’s note: This set of drama CDs has been incredibly entertaining so far and while this one definitely has some great moments as well, I am a bit sad to see that it follows a different pattern from the Sakamaki’s CDs. Instead of playing a magical board game in which all events from the game also occur in real life, they’re instead working as teams and facing off against each other. That being said, there are a bunch of hilarious moments, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a listen!

The crowd cheers.
*Clap clap clap*
Yuma: Fuck yeah! We won this match too!
Kou: Mmh~! Victory is as good as ours now! …Well then, I wonder who we’re up against in the finals?
Carla: …Your opponent would be us.
Kou: Why are you two Founders participating in a gaming tournament organized by Kaminashi City’s department store…!?
Shin: Why does it matter? Is there a rule that forbids us Founders from joining?
Kou: I didn’t say that, did I?
Shin: I mean, you guys are participating as well despite being Vampires, aren’t you? What’s your motive?
Yuma: What do ya mean? ‘s obvious! We have no win no matter what to get our hands on the prize!
Carla: Heh. I see. I suppose you two are also after…that.
Yuma: Yeah, exactly! …Distributed only by Kaminashi City’s department store…
Carla: The exclusive, hand-selected goodie box, is it?
Yuma: Exactly! We need to win that prize at all costs! He…Ruki is sitting at home, eagerly waiting for us to bring back that box which has both soy sauce AND detergent amongst other things.
Kou: Mmh. I mean, it's not actually that serious of a matter. Anyway, Ruki-kun told us to bring the prize back home. It’s such a rare chance to get both soy sauce and detergent for free, so we definitely want to win to help Ruki-kun in his money-saving endeavors! So please, would you be so kind as to let us have the win~?
Shin: Haah? Don’t be ridiculous! We have our own reasons why we want that prize so badly. Right, Nii-san?
Carla: Exactly…One of the items granted to the winner is a cured ham sample set. I need to get my hands on this no matter what. Therefore, we will mercilessly destroy everyone who stands in our path. Yes, for the sake of my cured ham…!
Yuma: Interestin’! We also made a deal with Ruki that in return for helpin’ him save money, he’ll increase the amount of side dishes at dinner by one! So in this match…Founders or not, we’re not losin’ to ya bastards!
*Diiiing*
Yuma: So? What are we playin’? I’m pretty sure the final match has some kind of special ruleset?
Kou: Mmh! Exactly! Let me see…According to the tournament’s official guidelines…
*Flip*
Kou: Seems like it’s a quiz of some sorts.
Shin: Yup, you’re right. Come on, look at your feet. The ground looks like a huge board game, doesn’t it? First you have to spin this roulette over here, then proceed as many squares as the number you rolled, before answering the question written on there. If both of you can give a correct answer, you get to stay on that spot. If you get it wrong, you have to go back to the previous square you were on. I guess whichever duo reaches the goal first, takes the win. As for the quiz part, apparently it’s meant to test just how much you know about your partner. Well, I’m sure it’ll be a piece of cake with the excellent teamwork between Nii-san and I. Heh.
Kou: Hehe~ We won’t lose in that regard either! …Right, Yuma-kun~?
Yuma: Guess so. We’ve got a long history together, so we pretty much have a mutual understandin’ of each other!
Carla: Thoughtless fools. We shall give you a taste of your own incompetence. Let the match begin! Brace yourself, Mukami brothers.
Yuma: Yeah! Bring it on!
Kou: Okay then~! The coin toss decided that Yuma-kun and I will go first. Yuma-kun, please make sure not to break the roulette when you spin it, okay?
Yuma: Yeah, I know! ‘Kay! Time to spin this bad boy!
Yuma spins the roulette.
Yuma: One, two, three, four…Yup! This is the one! Let’s see…What does it say? ’Answer with your partner’s hobby’. …Hah! These questions are even easier than I thought!
Kou: Is it really? I’m expecting a correct answer now, Yuma-kun!
Shin: Hey! You can’t talk with each other once you’ve started writing down the answer, okay?
If you do, I’m getting you both disqualified on the spot!
Kou: Oh shut up! We know that! …Here, Yuma-kun. Write the correct answer on this board. I’ll also write mine, so make sure to get my hobby right, okay?
Yuma: Yeah! Leave it to me!
*Scribble scribble*
Shin: …This quiz really is way too easy. I’m pretty sure he’ll actually get this one right. We might just lose at this point, so isn’t there some way I could…? …! Right!
Carla: Hm? What’s the matter, Shin? Did you think of something?
Shin: Hey, Nii-san! By the way…Have you heard the latest rumor yet?
Carla: …Oi, no need to shout, I can hear you just fine either way. A Founder should know better than to make a fuーー
Shin: (whispers) Oh come on, Nii-san! Just play along with me for a sec! (talks louder again) Word has it that a certain Mukami Kou has been attending yoga classes at the school right across the station!
Carla: Hooh? Yoga, you say? I must say, he has a good taste. I have actually taken an interest in it as of late as well. Yoga is actually quite complex, you see, improving both one’s physical and mentalーー
Shin: (whispers) Sorry, Nii-san! I promise I will listen to your lecture on the benefits of yoga some other day!
ーー No, no! I’ve just been spotting him by the station quite often during the weekend as of late, so I’m sure he’s pretty passionate about it! I was so surprised, I even double checked to make sure it was really him!
Yuma: …Hah? Kou’s goin’ to the yoga school? That’s a first for me though…I thought he liked dance instead? Don’t tell me…Did he change hobbies recently!? Ugh…I’m confused now!
Shin: Hehe…He’s hesitating for sure! You better it all wrong now, Yuma!
Carla: Shin. Which yoga school would you personally recommend to me? As a Founder, I do not want to attend just any run-of-the-mill yoga class.
Shin: Yeah...Right. We can talk about that later, okay?
*Whistle*
Yuma: …Fuck! I gotta make up my mind at some point! I’m goin’ with this as my answer!
*Scribble scribble*
Kou: H-Hey, Yuma-kun? Everything alright over there? It looked like you were struggling quite a bit…
Yuma: Y-Yeah…! I’m fine! There’s no way I’d get this wrong ‘bout you!
Kou: Mmh, you’re right. I have faith in you! Let’s reveal our answers at the same time then! Ready…Go!
They both flip their boards around.
Yuma: Yoga!
Kou: Dance!
Yuma: Hah!?
Kou: Eh!?
*BZZZZT*
Kou: Hold up! Yuma-kun!? How could you get this one wrong!? When did I ever mention liking yoga!?
Yuma: Ah!? B-But they were talkin’ ‘bout it! They said you’ve gotten hooked on the stuff as of late and have been attendin’ some kind of yoga school!
Kou: Why would you believe what our opponent says!? That was obviously a lie! This sucks~ Just how many years have we spent together now!? You idiot! Doofus!
Yuma: Hah…? A lie…? Then, they…tricked me?
Kou: So you actually did believe them…I can’t believe you fell for such an obvious scheme…I had faith in you too…
Shin: Hehehe…! You have to be pretty naive to fall for that. I guess this just proves that Vampires really are the inferior species amongst us.
Carla: My thoughts exactly. It is simply laughable how you would believe the enemy over your own brother and ultimately fall for such a blatant lie. Now be a man and accept your defeat.
Shin: …I mean, you kind of fell for it too, Nii-san. …Anyway, it’s finally our turn! We’ll show you two the true strength of us Founders! I’m going to spin the roulette now!
Shin spins the roulette.
Shin: Five! Come on, Nii-san. Onwards we go!
Carla: Yes.
Shin: One, two, three, four…and five! Let’s see…Our question is also ‘answer with your partner’s hobby!’
Carla: Heh. I see. That’s it? No big deal. …Shin. I can trust that you know exactly what my hobby is, correct?
Shin: Yeah! Leave it to me, Nii-san!
*Scribble scribble*
Kou: Fuck…It’d be so frustrating if this leads to our loss… …Hey, Shin-kun~ Did you know? Carla-kun’s hobby is actually bonsai art~!
*Whistle*
Shin: You must be a fool if you think I’m going to fall for that.
Carla: Truly idiotic. I have only dabbled a little into the art of bonsai.
Shin: Exactly! Nii-san has nevーー …Eh!? You actually have!? Hold up. My current answer is the correct one, right? Your hobby is actually still ‘that’, isn’t it!? I’m going to turn around my board now, okay? It’ll be fine, right!? Ready…go!
*Thud*
Carla & Shin: Collecting paintings
*Ding ・ dong*
Carla: Correct. …Well, I suppose that was only to be expected.
Shin: Phew, thank god…! I was sweating for a second there, but I guess we are the best after all!
Kou: Aah~ I guess they got one step ahead of it.
Yuma: Don’t sweat it, Kou. It’s only the first round! We can still turn things ‘round, can’t we? So don’t give up hope and let’s keep goin’!
Kou: Yuma-kun…Mmh! The game has only just started! It’s our turn again now! Let’s push forward!
Yuma: Yeah! That’s the spirit! …’Kay! I’m gonna spin the roulette!
*Rattle*
Yuma: Three! Let’s go.
Kou: Yes~!
They proceed three squares.
Yuma: So, what’s written on there now?
Kou: Um…Let’s see…’How tall is the Kaminashi Tower? Choose the string with the correct answer.”
Yuma: Haah!? The fuck’s with that serious quiz question…!? It has nothin’ to do with the damn theme either! How are we supposed to know that!?
*Tick tock tick tock tick tock*
Kou: Uwah…They’ve even got that timer music playing in the background…This sort of thing always makes me even more nervous.
Shin: Hey, what’s wrong, Mukami’s~? How about you stop dawdling and pick an answer already? Don’t tell me you can’t even answer such an easy question?
Yuma: Aah…!? Don’t be grinnin’ over there! Shin, that bastard…I dare bet that he doesn’t know the answer either!
Kou: Aah, but what to do? I have no idea either! …Hey, do you know, Yuma-kun?
Yuma: What makes ya think I do!? …Wait, hold up…But Ruki said somethin’ ‘bout the height of Kaminashi tower the other day…
Kou: Eh? Really!? Come on, remember it, Yuma-kun! Quick, hurry~!
Yuma: Don’t be ridiculous! Back then I honestly didn’t give a flyin’ fuck so I kind of just listened mindlessly and don’t remember any of it!
Kou: Poor Ruki-kun…At least pretend to be interested in the things he talks about every now and then…
*Whistle*
Yuma: Time’s up already!? Aah, whatever! It’s probably this one! Ready? I’m gonna pull the string!
Kou: Go ahead! At this point, I just have to trust you! Pull it with everything you’ve got!
Yuma: Ready…go! There!
Yuma pulls the string.
*PANG*
*SPLASH*
Kou: Waaah…!
Uu…This sucks…Why didn’t they tell us we’d get water dumped all over us if we picked the wrong answer?
Yuma: Ugh…What did I do to deserve this…?
Shin: Aah~ That was hilarious! Thanks for giving me such a great show! I guess winning this whole thing will be easier than we thought. Thank god we ended up against you guys in our final match.
Kou: Keh…I can’t believe we haven’t earned a single point yet. I’m feeling really dispirited right now.
Carla: It was only to be expected with us as your opponents. Well then, Shin. Spin the roulette for the next round.
Shin: Good idea. I think it’s about time we end this farce.
*Rattle*
Shin: Six, huh? If we can get the question right, we’ll be right at the finish line! One, two, thee, four, five…six!
Carla: This square, huh? Shin. What is written on it?
Shin: For some reason, it’s the only one in a different color. Let’s see…’Special square’, it says.
Carla: What does that mean?
Shin: Hmー I see…Apparently everyone has to compete for this one, including Kou and Yuma.
Carla: I see. I suppose this is the ideal opportunity to show the overwhelming difference in power between us. Yuma! Kou! Both of you, come join us here!
Kou and Yuma walk up to them.
Yuma: ‘Join us here’, my ass! Don’t be tellin’ me what to do!
Kou: What’s going on? Seems like you landed on a special square? What will happen?
Carla: Apparently we have to undergo a trial in which we are confined to this area and must mercilessly hurl these sheer white solidifications of fat at the opponent’s vital points
Yuma: Hah!? I have no idea what you’re sayin’, mate!
Kou: Sometimes Carla-kun truly speaks in riddles, doesn’t he?
Shin: Are you guys making fun of him!? It’s not his fault that you’re too stupid to understand him! Fine, I’ll explain it in a way that anyone can understand, okay? We’re going to battle it out in what you’d call a ‘pie throwing contest’ by human world standards. Whichever pair can collect the most points by hitting the opponent with these pies, wins.
Carla: Furthermore, it says that whoever wins this battle, will automatically win the entire game. It would appear to me that we can settle the score with this.
Yuma: Hah! I like the sound of that! Not only does it save a bunch of time, but the rules are nice and simple!
Kou: Guess so~! Yuma-kun, this could be our chance! If we can collect a bunch of points, we could run away with the victory!
Yuma: Yeah. They’ve really made a fool out of us the whole time, so I think it’s time we return the favor.
Shin: Ah-ah~ I have to say, you sore losers really got lucky. Our victories from earlier are basically in vain now.
Carla: Oh well, it is fine. All we have to do is win, regardless of the conditions. It is as simple as that. Our mission remains the same.
Shin: I guess you’re right. As to be expected of Nii-san! You always know exactly what to say!
Yuma: Oi, ya fuckers! How much longer are ya gonna blabber on for!? Stop whinin’ and let’s get this battle started!
Carla: Very well. As you wish, I shall have you succumb to me at once.
*Ding*
Yuma: Let’s get this party started! …Take this!
*SPLAT*
Carla: How insolent…
Shin: Hah…!
*SPLAT*
Kou: …Woah! That was close! …Time for revenge!
They continue throwing pies at each other.
Shin: You’re only wasting your time…! Just admit defeat already!
*Woosh*
*SPLAT*
Kou: Wah! We’re going to win this one no matter what…!
*SPLAT SPLAT*
Carla: I must say…You have some nerve to throw those fatty clumps at me.
*SPLAT*
Shin: Hah…!
*SPLAT*
Shin: Fuck! I can’t get any of them to hit…! Stop running around from left to right…! You pesky littleーー God!
Kou: Hehe~ You can throw in the towel if you want~
*SPLAT SPLAT*
Yuma: Ah…Fuck! You’re so damn persistent! Just give up already…!
*SPLAT*
Shin: Why don’t you two admit defeat instead!?
*SPLAT SPLAT*
Carla: Shin. We are running out of time. Let us settle this with our next throw.
Shin: Yeah, I know, Nii-san! This is the end for you two…!
*SPLAT*
Yuma: Hah! Why are ya talkin’ as if you’ve won already!? We’re the ones who will land the final blow!
Kou: Exactly! Let’s grab the win…and bring back home those prizes to Ruki-kun and Azusa-kun!
Yuma: Yeah! This is it!
*Woosh*
*SPLAT*
Carla: Hah. Do not get ahead of yourself. As if we would ever lose to a mere bunch of Vampires.
Shin: Let’s go, Nii-san! …Uwah!?
*Thud*
Shin: Owowow…What happened? My foot slipped…I’m covered in cream now as well…This seriously sucks…
Carla: Ugh…Shin…Shin!!
Shin: Nii-san, what’s wrong!? It looks like you can barely breathe! …Wait? Uwah! I’m so sorry!! I stepped on the edge of your scarf!
Carla: Shin…! Please just…step…aside…
Kou: Hahaha! What are those guys doing? Yuma-kun, I think this might be our chance~! Finish it with those two pies in your hands!
Yuma: Gotcha! …Take this!!
*WOOSH*
Carla & Shin: …!?
*SPLAT*
Kou: We did it! Right in their faces!
Carla & Shin: Ugh…
*DING ・ DING*
*Clap clap clap*
Yuma: Phew…That was the bell signalin’ the end of the game.
Kou: Hooray! Look at the scores! We turned things around and won!
Yuma: Yeah!
Shin: No way…You’ve got to be kidding me…
Carla: Ridiculous…How could I lose…?
Kou: Fufu~ Check that out, Yuma-kun! Their sheer white faces are a must-see!
Yuma: Ahaha! You guys look hilarious! I’m pretty sure I’ll remember this moment forever! Hahaha…
Shin: How dare you throw a pie in Nii-san’s face…I won’t let you make a laughingstock of him like that!
Kou: What are you saying? His face ended up covered in cream because you tripped, remember?
Carla: I cannot believe it…I lost to some lowly Vampires…
Yuma: You should just genuinely admit defeat. ‘Almighty Founders’
Shin: I won’t…I refuse to accept this…!!!

Lately I've been trying to run the simulation of "okay, well, what if Amane and Tsukasa confer with one another more than what we see?" and generally thinking about the possibility of more collaboration, permittance, between them.
Its the sort of thing that's as possible as it is not-possible; there is space for it to be true, but it just as well could not be. Not the sort of thing to have conclusions on, just something to reread top to bottom and consider the plausibility.
To start, I wonder often, if Hell of Mirrors isn't just a game between Amane and Tsukasa. Its not so far as something planned by either of them-- obviously, they are mutually shocked on sight and have completely unrelated reasons to be there, babysitting Mitsuba and rescuing Nene who he unexpectedly called out to via the photos-- but I don't feel certain that Hanako's entire processed response to it is earnest, and its almost easiest to see the scene as being for Tsukasa more than any other players. Nene being passed out for its entirety might be to embellish that... (to be true, she's not allowed in the narrative to see the first Mitsuba/Tsukasa/Hanako confrontation, either. These events cannot and do not impact her personal perception of their relationship, for whatever reason, and Kou exclusively defines their relationship based mostly ON these events... definitely a narrative disparity to create unique impressions)
Hanako: feels very performative in Hell of Mirrors. Hanako's nervousness during his declaration against Tsukasa/Mitsuba is odd-- I don't, personally, think Hanako 'fears' Tsukasa or what he will 'do' to him (well, in a violence sense, lol). That really isn't their power dynamic... we're more likely to see Hanako show no hesitation to manhandle him,
Tumblr media
be openly, casually bothered by him, (even after the events of the first Mitsuba incident, he isn't any more intimidating baseline, to Hanako)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or just corrects him swiftly, not afraid to snip and command him,
Tumblr media
none of which really look like the behavior of someone afraid to get bitten. He's more overwhelmed just by what Tsukasa can say to him, or rather, Tsukasa captivates him with his words easily. It doesn't often seem to be a very physical threat to Hanako-- but Tsukasa is his yorishiro, and we don't have a complete understanding of that, but it sortof seems like Tsukasa is closer to being at Hanako's mercy than the other way around....
Anyway,
Amane's stance, and speech, to Tsukasa feels very… 'put on' to me.
Tumblr media
At the very least, it sure is awkward to be doing your whole responsible superhero schtick to your little brother, who knows your real personality and history ...
Tumblr media
All Hanako's typical heroic epic posturing, dramaticisms, flourish, is for Nene to admire; it's perhaps kind of embarrassing to do around someone who actually knows him, and what this 'job' is, haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe it's a little nervewracking to play along! Or to have the ruse engaged with on the same level he's been: IS this all a joke, a game, to Hanako? It has been, up until now, and for all of these years. And especially for his dynamic with Nene. This has been a sortof comedic game of gaslighting an ignorant girl into seeing you as a dashing hero, and not, perhaps, an imprisoned menace blackmailed into loyalty, eternally punished, and emotionally broken. Hanako himself knows he's not accurately portraying anything to her, that nobody would agree with his narrative.
Tumblr media
If this scene is Tsukasa seeing if he can 'play' with Hanako 'on his level' and his terms (having spectated Misaki Stairs and the tenor of that), then Hanako is being a very good and gracious big brother, giving Tsukasa plenty of chance to take his turn... Tsukasa gets to state his own piece,
Tumblr media
and, er... when it goes wrong, its like... ehm...
Tumblr media
Hanako in general, is utterly performative FOR Nene to observe-- because he wants to propose himself, to her, as a cool, dashing hero.
Something he doesn't bother with for the other mysteries, obviously, who only see him as a lackadaisical pervert bore who doesn't take his job seriously, and doesn't care as much as he ought to.
So, in the event Hanako is doing his little song and dance speech of heroism, it's insincere, and a performance. A performance for who, here? Nene is asleep, so…. for Kou? I guess, though I'm not sure he'd bother with so much emphasis for Kou alone (he doesn't so much in the initial Mitsuba debacle, which lacks speeches and flourish, more somber). I'd almost think he'd want to be quick about things and get whatever nonsense over with. But maybe it's a performance for Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
you're really trying to give your fail little brother a fair shot here maybe, patiently not making your own moves..... and, Tsukasa really isn't doing a great job at joining his big brother in the reindeer games....
Tumblr media
trying to look cool and play with big brother, stop, RUINING IIIITTT come on come on come on do it right!!! Amane is waiting, we're in the middle of playing, come on come on!! Amane said the cool stuff!!! Now you say cool stuff!!! We're enemies in this game, you have to act like it!!!
But maybe for both of them, so 'new' and 'unsure' to this situation… this weird new dynamic… as a first foray into it, is, awkward, Tsukasa is impatient and eager to impress, and, Hanako is sweaty, trying to play along, his delivery isn't confident, and maybe it's a little embarrassing to do this.... in front of people, too.... hoy.... this has to at least 'pass' to Kou.... who luckily is so stupid and busy with his feelings he won't notice Hanako being weird and unserious
Trying to allow Tsukasa into this 'playtime'… surely Amane, of all people, could identify when Tsukasa is playing a role or goofing off, and that's why this chapter is so stupid and goonish nonsense. He knows Tsukasa won't really hurt him, but he doesn't really know what the endgame is here, either.... no precedent.
Hell of Mirrors is a comedy of errors REALLY, if this were an earnest proposal of opposing ideals, I don't think Hanako would be so glib and distractible and inconsistently engaged. And… you'd think he'd want to go back and readdress it, but he never does. Perhaps the scene accomplished all it needed to-- it certainly satisfied Tsukasa… wonderfully, this was no failure to him at all, he did what he wanted to (: which was, make Mitsuba into existence, and then, serendipitously, play with Amane...... an amazing surprise (: he did it ...! yaaaay! I-its kind of endearing if its like this, its good Tsukasa doesn't feel like that was embarrassing or a failure to play with Amane right.....
Tumblr media
He didn't need Mitsuba to maim or kill anyone, not the objective. It clearly wasn't Hanako's objective, to really do anything, either, as he never comes back to this to finish the job.
We know what a 'serious' Hanako, not performing, looks like; he becomes, typically, aloof, tired, and exacting. He likes things to end efficiently. The airs of caring drop. He's annoyed to have to do something with his earnest strength, that people are not just bowing to his will, lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I draw a big distinction between fights Hanako is being 'serious' and ones he is being 'playful'. When dealing with someone contentious, you'll either have him earnestly pissy, sullen, or (to someone like Kou...) belittling (embarrassing for you to try to fight me).
Tumblr media
He's a leetle serious... ffffor a second, in Hell of Mirrors. I'm sure Amane likes to 'win' games with Tsukasa, after all… and, this is his dogma, so, lets grill this set piece....
Tumblr media
this panel is always like... lol. our hero
After this 'test' 'game', comes 'Picture Perfect', which sees Hanako and Tsukasa working together towards a common goal. If 'Hell of Mirrors' was actually a fun little check-in of 'will you play with me, Amane?' then 'Picture Perfect' is a logical next step: 'OKAY, you WILL play with me!'
Backing up,
In the first Mitsuba situation, Hanako becomes alerted to Tsukasa's presence in the school not via seeing or hearing him, but by Haku-Joudai flashing and alerting him after Tsukasa activates his Koku-Joudai to grant a wish. It would seem as if Haku and Koku Joudai, whether by choice or by nature, are linked. Hanako doesn't always come running when Koku-Joudai is used (suchas the crane situation, or just before the bookstacks, as Sakura wields it), so I have no idea if this is just sortof like a walkie-talkie situation they can nebulously use to ping one another at will, or what...
Tumblr media
nonetheless, information about these dang orbs is so incredibly scarce in canon, and I'm sure whatever they have been, or can, be used for, is intentionally ambiguous for some, later drop of some kind. I simply keep it in my back pocket that for some reason, Haku Joudai detected Tsukasa's wish-granting and flickered to inform Hanako, and he already immediately understands how severe whatever it is, is.....
How often could discreet communication happen? How often does either know when the other does something?
A small pocket of time I find amusing, is that, for just a second, Amane and Tsukasa are alone together on the roof, tinkering with a classmate's telescope while Nene isn't observing. I don't suppose the boys have any reason to earnestly engage fakeass classmates once Yashiro is out of sight. I wonder if they had any words for one another here, considering how sneakily Tsukasa snakes in words to Nene in only seconds of company.
Tumblr media
Nene spends some time here catching up with fake Aoi, a reasonable space of time for Amane & Tsukasa to chat. Though he did spend some of that time setting up his . girlfriend box trap and prepping his Antares speech.
Tumblr media
Of course there's also the moment Nene runs off to get dressed, and they try to be patient… they really make the whole walk to the classroom together and wait for her together. So who knows if, while alone, they chatted or at least, exchanged glances.
Tumblr media
and the dubiously canon movie date. I have no idea if Amane is lying, or relaying memories from childhood but pretending it's just happened, or if fsr when setting up and testing the world you had to trial run the movie theater to be sure it would suffice to trick Nene and Tsukasa was there because why wouldn't he be. The setting up of Picture Perfect is so ambiguous....
All of this to say .... there are many random spaces of time across the manga, Amane and Tsukasa could have stopped to exchange a few discreet words! Even without focusing on them always being in the school every night or over the weekend without observation (I wouldn't go so far as to say they are having slumber parties, lol, I'm sure their interactions are always rather brief and loaded and centering on some goal)....
after this moment, I started to feel like... ugh, wait =.= I ... officially have NO IDEA 'where you are at' with Tsukasa!!! How you feel about his shenanigans!!!! This is not a face of, resigned defeated sadness, this is a face that reads to me as WEIRDLY WARM AND FOND?? What on earth do these sequences of events and their exchanges feel like to, HANAKO?? Exciting??? mysterious, alluring, captivating, tantalizing?? Salivating for the next run-in??? Interested in what the hell his endgame is??? What he'll suggest to you next??? THIS HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT TSUKASA AFTER YOU FIND HE'D INVITE YOU TO RIP HIM TO SHREDS??
Tumblr media
alive together, did Tsukasa ever have much freedom, power? In their situation, could Amane even see a Tsukasa flourishing in any sense, moving as he pleased? Did Tsukasa ever have other friends at all, a social life? What is it like, to see Tsukasa seemingly doing whatever he wants to, now, unrestricted? Is not Amane willfully enabling Tsukasa to continue at every step?? How often do they confer, or, how often does Tsukasa at least let Amane listen in on something, or know what he's up to? Tsukasa wants to 'know' Amane and, ultimately, he loves him no matter what he does... and Hanako also seems interested in 'knowing' Tsukasa, too... observing what he will do. Even if it's dangerous, or causes collateral damage.
Trying to be a little worried after all of this, that the Yugi are possibly persistently flirting with one another more than I had originally thought... worried you sortof want to see your little brother do crazy shit.... worried it's way too mutual....
AN ADD-ON:
I do think Hell of Mirrors is a performance, most likely... I think that is why the interstitial image pictures Nene and Mitsuba as circus clowns performing:
Tumblr media
this promotional image for vol7 also features that get-up, and Amane and Tsukasa linking arms
Tumblr media
promotional images are easy to shrug off, but they often do reflect the volume's theme, more often than not... here is the promo image for vol 9, Picture Perfect: everyone drawing together
Tumblr media
while volume 11 is the volume Hanako traps Nene in PP:
Tumblr media
...sometimes images are more incidental, but other times, they are symbolic/referencing what occurs in the volume. Its at least something to think about when theorizing!

Makoto's route. Dark 06
Characters mentioned: Ayato Sakamaki, Kanato Sakamaki, Laito Sakamaki, Ruki Mukami, Yui Komori, Makoto Aomine
Monologue :
So things are going like they are... Nothing interesting, but Ruki sometimes recalls what I should to as far as I'm "snake" like them and honestly, this role doesn't suit me at all. But who asked me? Who asked them if they wanted to do all these things?
I know that my life is about nothing, so...
I don't care!
***
Location: school
Makoto : How will I know who is Adam among them?
Ruki: Simply because one of them is Eve's choice
Makoto: Still... If I'm wrong and seduce the wrong guy?
Ruki: That's impossible, otherwise — just stupid of you. Its being said, watching them in your interests.
Makoto: Puah, it's easier to check all of them!
Ruki: W-what do you mean?
Makoto: I'm gonna ask them straightforwardly : who's dating Komori Yui? That's all, bingo!
*Ruki's slowly covering his face with hands*
Ruki: ...
Makoto: Hey, why are you so disappointed?
Ruki: Sometimes I think of doing a skull  tripanation to you, just to check if there's a feature of some brain...
Makoto: *waves her hands*
Makoto: No-no! I still need my brain for some important things!
Ruki: No doubts, really.
Ruki: However, I assume if you fail, you'll be just replaced and don't even notice this. That's all, now go.
Makoto: It's too sad to say bye, Ruki...
Ruki: Don't embarrass me with your bluntness! And it's better for us not to walk together like we don't even know each other.
Makoto: Oh, I'd like to ignore Kou-kun for eternity. Then... I go.
*She walks away from him  in some direction *
Makoto: (What now? I don't fucking care if I'll be replaced, I'm not here for it. I only need my piece of reality, in the end of this mission, wether it's going to be successful ot fail for them, I'll know facts about my loved ones' weird deaths... I'll know, I see!)
*The bell rings*
Location: History class
Makoto: (another boring ass subject. At least I'm lucky to be with Sakamakis in the same class. Here they are... Ayato, Kanato and... Jeez, where's this guy Laito? I need to chek them first, because it's less suspicious than if I spy on Reiji or Subaru.  We're the same class with triplets at least...)
*PE lesson*
Makoto: (Oh, I see the triplets... Tho, no, only two of them... Where is... what was his name.. Laito, I guess? Where's that guy?.. It's quite rare not to see him at the PE class, I'm sure he's always there for girls. Hmpf. How weird. Moreover, I don't see Komori...)
???: Oh, he-he, watch ya step!
Makoto: Huh?..
*Thud*
Makoto: Hell boy!
*she falls down*
Ayato: Yo, Chichiari*, resting here on the floor?
*she looks up.*
Makoto: You? What's your Hell problem??? Why did you trip me???
Ayato: Ha-ha-ha-ha! Oh, you're so funny! Didn't you understand? It was a prank, so don't be so angry, Chichiari.
Makoto: Chichiari? Are you still in your puberty ?
*Laito appears from behind*
Laito: Hmpf~ I also sometimes think that Ayato-kun is still a little boy. You're definitely right, Bitch-Chan.
Makoto: (Why did he wink to me?.. What's going on... It'd be bad if the third one appeared)
*Kanato appears from nowhere*
Kanato: Ayato, seriously? It seems like you really have something with this girl, but you don't want to make us know it. Why do you approach her another time?
Makoto: Another time? Listen, you three. What is going on with you?
Ayato: No, it's my question! What's wrong with you?
Laito: Oh... And now we have a problem~
Kanato: These two are in the center of attention, I'm sure there disrupting the class.
Ayato: Since you've lost me, you're waiting for a revenge, don't ya?
Makoto: A revenge? I mean, I was offended by the fact you had secrets and was dishonest in a competition. But I just couldn't forgive you! I had a hard time!
Ayato: Firstly, mind your own fucking business and don't try to spy on me after you say things like that!
Makoto: I'm not spying on you, shut up!
Ayato: No, you're everywhere where I go, I didn't know what do you want from me!
Makoto: Am I that disturbing? Excuse me, but it's just a coincidence, and you're being paranoid!
Ayato: Liar!
Makoto:No! Hear that from a liar himself!
Laito:Oh gosh… You guys are noisy today. Maybe, you should make another competition to realize who is right and who's not?
Makoto: It's childish!
Ayato: No, it's okay!
Makoto: *whispers* Are you stupid? You know I can't keep up with you because you're a vampire?
Laito: *also whispers* I can supervise him to make sure he's not cheating, little Bitch~
Maktoo: (Bitch?.. )
Ayato: Are you serious, Laito? Fuck, it wasn't even your problem
Laito: I don't care~ And this adorable girlie want me to help her, right?
Makoto: Actually, I want...
(I can't understand if he's being nice or extremely creepy)
Laito: Yeah! We've decided! You guys are having a pari! And I'm the judge, obviously
Ayato: I wouldn't trust him.
Makoto: He's your brother, why wouldn't you? It's me in a challenging situation after all!
Ayato: Huh, it doesn't matter if he's my brother
Laito: How cold, Ayato-kun... Do I really mean nothing to you?
Ayato: Oi, shut up! Shut up, Laito, I can't stand your annoying tone right now!
Makoto: (Don't blame, Ruki... But I'll hold up there...)
***
Laito: I thought well need to have eyewitnesses as well! So here is Kanato-kun and Yui-chan! Say hi to them!
Ayato: You brought them here... How?..
Kanato: Don't even ask about this, Ayato...
Yui:Eh, and I wanted to come by my own will...
Makoto: Huh, you guys are here... I doubt you like this show...
Laito: Oh, don't be so pessimistic, little Bitch, everything will be great!
Makoto: Uh... Maybe you wanted to cheer me up, but calling me a bitch is rather humiliating....
Laito: Hmpf~ Do I care? Also, some of us can approve you're rather bitchy than everything else... You have this vibe, maybe you can't even recognize, but your scent is screaming of desire...
Kanato: I wanna end myself because I heard this Laito shut again
Makoto: ... (Is he... flirting?..)
Yui: (being a witness of Laito's harassments is another level of humiliation)
Ayato: Fuck off! I'm ready to start already, stop your weird talk!!!
***
Makoto: (we ran a cross again. The first time we did it 2 weeks ago, Ayato used his vampire powers, about which I didn't know. I was fairly astonished by him. I actually was a good athlete in my former school, but he was a thousand times better than me.
My admiration disappeared when he showed his real nature...)
*Flashback starts*
Makoto: Hey, Ayato! How can you be so fast... I can't keep up with you even for a second when we're alone... How do you do this?
Ayato: Hah... I'm not in mood, so ya'd better fuck off
Makoto: ???
Makoto: Uh, oh... Why are you like that?..
Ayato: None of your business
Makoto: Why?
Ayato: Why? Because I won't tell a random girl things which bother me
Makoto: Yeah, but we're mates after all.. We even could be friends, if you wish.. You know, I'm not against it
*she smiled encouragingly*
Makoto: If something is bothering you –
*she extends her hand forward*
Makoto: I'll help! Like friends do
Ayato: Che. "Like friends do"
Makoto: What? Do I sound ridiculous?
Ayato: Kinda. I don't need yer help or something. Ore-sama will solve it himself
Makoto: Then why did you even say this out loud if you're so cool!
*he suddenly grabs her wrist and closes to her*
*he hardly pants*
Makoto: (What's with him... Why is he holding me like that? Maybe... something bad happened to him and he needs someone's support? Why is he so rude???)
*she hugs him with the free hand*
Ayato: ...
*he tilts his head down*
Makoto: (is he calmed ?..)
*he suddenly bites her arm*
Makoto: What the—
Makoto: (What's it? Its burning! No way... what's this agony in my arm... what is he doing...)
*Flashback ends*
Makoto: (Now we ran it again... six circles of the field and I feel just worn out... Ayato is also... not full of beans I'd say. But I don't know if he cheated or not, because the judges are his brothers! Komori also, but maybe for a human eye it's  difficult to identify those moves... Ha... My knees are shaking and lungs are ripping... )
Ayato: *also pants hardly*
Laito:Oi-oi! Looks like you too did a great job... a meaning of which is so irrelevant for me, but now it was fair
Makoto: Hah... What others..
Will say?
Yui: Eeh? I guess Laito-kun is right, I honestly didn't notice any reasons to suspect Ayato-kun was cheating...
Ayato: Hah... Of course I wasn't!
Makoto: Calm down! You're out of breath, dude!
Laito: Eh? So you guys don't even wanna know who won?
Makoto: (Jeez.. I've even forgotten about the meaning of this...)
Makoto: Say...
Laito: Unfortunately for me, because I had a favorite in this competition, the winner is... Ayato-kun!
Ayato: Puah! Easy as... knha knahaah
Yui: Ayato-kun, aren't you choking ?
Ayato: Kha-kha... Khm. I'm fine, Chichinashi.
Ayato: So, Ma-ko-to Have you heard this pervert? I won even the second time! Doesn't it make me great?
Makoto: You're literally a pain in the neck
Makoto: Fu-fu-fu!
Laito: ?
Yui: (Makoto-san is laughing?)
Ayato: Oi, watcha chuckle 'bout?
Makoto: You just look so silly, cheering your victory, you're happiness is contagious!
-----
Monologue:
I think I've forgiven Ayato.
At least, it wasn't that hard as I had expected...
Although maybe now I think like that because previously I had encountered with a cheerful eye...

CHAMPHONE LOOP - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Sometimes the best things are found where you least expect them. Savannakhet is the most populous province in Laos, yet also one of the least explored, as tourists seldom stray from the pleasant and scenic downtown area of the city. On a recent visit, I was advised to get out and see the real Savannakhet on the Champhone Circuit. To find out what I was missing, I acquired some transport and headed out of town.
Tumblr media
THINGS TO DO AND SEE
Champhone District is quite flat and agrarian. It is marked by the Xe Champhone River which flows from mountains in the north down into the Xe Bang Hiang and onward into the Mekong.
Soui Lake
My first stop along this route was to admire the wide Soui Reservoir, jokingly called “the ocean of Savannakhet” which contains water for use in the area. It is a charming lake and popular spot on weekends for local people who flock to restaurants on the lakeside and enjoy fresh catches of fish and shellfish.
Monkey forest / Dong Ling
Driving on a few kilometers, the driver stops. “Monkeys!” he exclaims. We have arrived in Dong Ling – “Monkey Forest”. These rare animals live in a forest believed to be sacred by local people, so they are given free rein. Local shops must protect themselves with metal grating, or the cheeky monkeys will steal things and disappear into the forest. I bought a few bunches of bananas and tried to make friends. They were shy at first, but as more and more monkeys approached, I became uneasy and tossed the bunch at them, before jumping back into the van.
Ho Taypidok – The first library in Laos
Crossing the Xe Champhone River and on to the next village, we came across a real marvel of Lao architecture, Wat Ban Lam Chan. This ancient temple in Lam Chan Village is quite famous for its incredibly tall stilted Ho Tay Pidok library. Traditionally temple manuscripts were etched into palm leaves and bound together into books. As insects love to eat these leaves, libraries were often built on stilts in ponds, so they would be protected from pests. Sadly, many of these grand wooden structures have been lost and this is one of the few remaining. The manuscripts stored here are of such good quality that they are still regularly studied by academics.
Turtle Lake
Our next stop was another fascinating natural attraction in Don Daeng Village, a lake with sacred softshell turtles! The villagers nearby believe that anyone who disturbs these animals will mysteriously fall sick or die. Visitors often bring traditional Lao snacks to feed the turtles and avoid any bad luck. Local children nearby have a special way of calling the turtles to the surface to get a snack and are happy to help bring them up. A few children followed me and one of them called out in Lao. A turtle appeared, grabbed the food I offered, and then disappeared back into the murky depths. There is also a small Buddhist shrine built in the middle of the lake, but due to local beliefs, only men are allowed inside.
Taleo Old Temple
Just a few kilometers north is a striking piece of Lao-Indochinese architecture stained by modern history and one of my favorite stops on this route. In Taleo Village stand the remnants of an old, abandoned temple, Wat Taleo Kao. Built about a century ago, the temple was the target of American bombs in 1969 and many of the structures in the temple grounds did not survive. Thankfully, one building remains and houses a trove of folk-art paintings on its walls, telling local legends and stories of the Buddha’s life. Temples are not made like this anymore, as Lao people prefer more modern styles of art on their walls, so seeing this one in its original state was quite a treat, if it were not for the sad reason it was abandoned.
Wat Phoukor
This singular forest temple has been designed without wall so people can stay in touch with nature while praying Buddha. While walking in the beautiful surrounding forest, you can observe many statues depicting Buddhist hell and famous Lao tales
That Kou
That Kou is the ruin of one of the many pre-Angkorian constructions from the ancient Khmer Empire in Laos. This sanctuary was built at early second millennium with impressive lava stones and used to be a Hindu shrine.
The Champhone Circuit really opened up this section of Laos and showed me a great diversity of fascinating historical and natural places. Visitors to the area should look beyond the city center – get out and see the real charms of Savannakhet!
GETTING THERE
Champhone District is located about 45 kilometers southeast of Savannakhet’s downtown area and road conditions can be quite rugged and dusty, so transport with high clearance is recommended.
Lao Airlines has regular flights to Savannakhet from Pakse, Bangkok, and Vientiane.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
So, what is the best time to visit Champhone Loop?
In general, you can visit Champhone Loop throughout the year though it will be a little muddy during rainy season from May until late August.
The best time to visit the area is during dry season from mid-October until late April. If possible, you can manage to visit Champhone Loop around January when you can join the Taleo Temple Festival. Check with us for the detailed date if you are interested.

Appearance
Though Tsukiko appears to be small and thin, their uniform hides their toned body. They have pale skin and blue and purple eyes. They have short, black hair and straight bangs
They wear the Night Raven College uniform most of the time due to not having any of the clothes they owned from their original world with them. The vest and blazer lining were custom-tailored to be a gray color to represent their dorm color. Their dormitory armband is just a simple black and white ribbon, similar to Grim's, wrapped around their upper arm and tied into a bow. They wear a chest binder underneath to give them a more androgynous appearance
Personality
Tsukiko on the outside appears to be a generally happy person. They're seen smiling most of the time even with their situation. They speak with a cheerful tone and are seemingly never sad. Though this is partly a facade as they only allow themselves to look and feel sad when they're alone
They are kind at heart and is willing to help others. They're able to stay calm, even in the most dangerous situations that might scare others. They try to think analytically about a situation but will go with their heart over their brain when it feels right
Because they're still a teenager, they are not immune to acting recklessly and on impulse or out of rage. They can be blunt and a bit mean towards their friends, but in a teasing, lighthearted way. Though they are still one of the more mature ones out of their friends and often take on a leadership role when they need to
Powers and Abilities
Tsukiko doesn't possess any magical powers or abilities, but still has a set of useful skills
Swordsmanship: They are skilled in using a shinai (a bamboo sword used in kendo) and aren't completely clueless to how to use an actual sword
Exceptional Memory: They can memorize and relay almost all the information they've been given. They can recall past events of their life and describe them in almost perfect detail. Things can still slip their mind, but that's a rare occurrence
Strength: Despite their size, they are able to take on most people in hand-to-hand combat. They are also able to carry heavy objects
Stamina: Due to their kendo training, they're able to run and exercise for long periods of time
Background
Tsukiko was born in the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan. They were the youngest of three children. They spent their childhood on their grandparent's farm where they learn many skills such as sewing, farming, and cooking. They'd often explore the forests near the farm when they had free time. If they weren't on the farm or in the forests, they'd be at school. They had good grades and excelled in school
But, the year before they were supposed to enter junior high, they were diagnosed with tuberculosis which caused them to miss many months at school. Causing them to have to repeat their last year at primary school, which made them a year older than their classmates from then on
Before their last year in junior high, they moved to Toyko due to their father receiving a good job offer there. Though they'd still be able to visit their grandparents during the summer, they were still unhappy with the move
It was around their last year of junior high when they started questioning their gender identity. By the end of the school year, they were certain they were genderfluid. They began to go by Kou, but still used the named Tsukiko
After finishing junior high, they attended Hibari Municipal High School. They joined the kendo club, but because most of the members were third-years that didn't care much for the club, they became the captain in their second year. With the help of a friend, they were able to prevent the club from disbanding. They were in their 2nd year before they were mysteriously transported to Twisted Wonderland
Notable Relationships
Jack Howl: Tsukiko trusts Jack the most out of everyone. They admire his sense of justice and strength. Though they were intimidated by him at first, they came to be the most comfortable when around him. They find his "tsundere"-like nature endearing and they find it hard not to tease him. In the end, they care a lot for Jack and Jack cares a lot for them. Tsukiko hangs around Jack the most out of their friends
Sebek Zigvolt: Though Sebek can be loud and obnoxious, Tsukiko does find his company enjoyable. It did take Sebek a while to warm up to Tsukiko and to stop calling them "Human" but they ended up being good friends. Sebek sometimes feels the need to protect Tsukiko even though they have proven multiple times to be able to care for themself just fine. Tsukiko isn't afraid to call Sebek out if he's being rude to them or others. Sebek treats them with respect and has a slight admiration for them that he will never admit to
Malleus Draconia: Curiosity drew Tsukiko to Malleus in the first place. Their midnight meetings made them want to see him more. They find their company pleasant and as time passes and their meetings became more frequent and longer, they came to consider the fae a good friend and someone they admire. Even after finding out his real identity, Tsukiko still treated him the same
Ace Trappola: Ace is usually the victim of most of Tsukiko's teasing. In exchange, Ace also teases them back. They enjoy annoying each other in a lighthearted way. Even with this, they still love and care for each other. Ace often turns to Tsukiko when he needs help and he appreciates any help he gets from them, even if he doesn't say it out loud. Ace is also one of the main reasons Tsukiko would act on impulse
Duece Spade: They both treat each other with respect and Tsukiko will sometimes coddle Duece unintentionally. He is one of the only people Tsukiko told the truth about their identity to without them finding out first. Though he was shocked at first, the reveal only made Duece respect them more. They are often the one to get Duece to calm down if he ever gets angry. He is one of Tsukiko's most trusted friends.
Epel Felmier: Tsukiko sometimes finds it hard not to want to coddle Epel at any chance they get. Though that's mostly due to his looks. They do respect his wish to become tall and strong and often help him train in secret. Sometimes Tsukiko will give Epel a small, platonic forehead kiss, causing him to get embarrassed, though he doesn't hate it
Grim: Their relationship may be rocky at times, but Tsukiko genuinely cares for Grim. They'll pamper him one moment before playfully bullying him the next. Grim at times reminds them of their cat Momo back in their world. Tsukiko is often found carrying Grim. Grim sometimes complains and says he feels like he's being treated like a baby by them, he actually likes how Tsukiko treats him
Enma Yuuken: Enma was the friend that helped Tsukiko save the kendo club at their high school in their original world. Tsukiko admires Yuuken and harbored feelings for him during their first year. They dated for a while before breaking up due to their own individual duties, though they still remained good friends. Tsukiko still thinks of Yuuken from time to time and wonders how he's doing back in their original world
Kuroki Yuuya: Tsukiko met Yuuya in their last year of junior high along with Yuuken. They had become the three Yuu's after Yuuya gave Tsukiko the nickanme Yuukiko. The two have the kind of friendship where they are just comfortable in each other's silence. They have other ways of showing affection and that they care that don't involve words. Though they became good friends, Yuuya stopped talking to Tsukiko one day, the reason remaining a mystery to Tsukiko
Trivia
They prefer to use the formal/polite ver. of words (Ex: watashi) when speaking Japanese, as they tend to be gender-neutral or used by both males and females
They view both Crewel and Crowley as father figures but prefer Crewel over Crowley severely
They're secretly jealous of everyone for having magical abilities
They get homesick easily
If they get really bored, they'll sometimes become a waiter for the Mostro Lounge for a day in exchange for food, test notes, or money
Azul attempts to get Tsukiko to become a part-time waiter at the Mostro Longue, but they always refuse and say they'll work there when they feel like it
They consider their exceptional memory a curse because they can't forget embarrassing memories that they want to forget
They often spend their alone time laying in the grass, staring at the sky. If they can't sleep they usually go outside and stargaze for a bit

Terukane getting ice cream :]
Ice cream
The moon is high in the sky, Tiara has been bathed and tucked in and Kou has gotten a complimentary kiss on the head. Teru heads out into the darkness.
He takes his usual path for a little while, checking his phone for the time before turning onto a different street. A busier night street with late open food stands and adults milling about.
He searches for a familiar face and approaches when he spots it.
“Thank you for meeting me, Aoi.”
Aoi Akane is leaning against a lamppost, looking through his phone in one hand, and a plate of takoyaki in the other. He's got the toothpick hanging loosely in his mouth, and between that and his unpleasant expression, he looks a little like a delinquent.
“Aah... No hello?”
Teru tilts his head at the other, looking at him sideways with a small smile. His hands are in his pockets.
“Are you mad?”
“No-”
Akane doesn't look up for a moment, pushing himself off the post and walking to meet him.
“It's not like coming all the way out here on a school night is a big hassle or anything.”
Despite the harsh tone, he holds out the takoyaki on offering to the class president.
“You're lucky I needed a break from studying.”
Teru declines the offer politely, but pulls out money from his pocket to hand over.
“Here. I was planning on buying you something anyway as a thank you.”
Akane looks at Teru's outstretched hand, taken aback for a moment, before pushing the money back toward him.
“I can't accept that. If you're gonna insist, just buy me something else. I didn't eat dinner tonight.”
“Hah…”
He takes his wallet back out to put his money away, looking to the open stands.
“Alright then, what do you want? Also, why aren’t you eating dinner in the first place?”
Akane hums thoughtfully while he looks at his feet, just a bit of a blush coming to his face.
“Ao-chan...called me over for homework help. By the time we finished, I was behind on my reading and-
Uh- It's fine, I normally power through with an energy drink.”
Teru rolls his eyes at the lovey dovey talk coming from him. He puts a hand on the other’s shoulder and pulls him over to look for a better meal.
“That’s no good, you know. No wonder you’re so thin.”
He pokes him in the ribs with an unusual air of friendliness. This makes Akane flinch with expectation, but he is surprised that it’s painless. Akane looks back at Teru casually- as casual as he can be with his guard up
“ Ah... Yeah...
I mean...you're one to talk- Is this your nightly routine? Someone as busy as you should really try sleeping. Otherwise that smile you wear all day will start to sag.”
It doesn't sound like it, but he is voicing some genuine concern. It's not like he hasn't noticed the moments where Teru's head is on the desk in the student council room- right before he picks it up and immediately begins antagonizing him.
“Well, it hasn’t yet.”
Teru shrugs and assures with his same smile.
“I do my best to keep the neighborhood safe. If I had more time I would go into town too, where there’s stronger spirits. Besides- I had dinner already.”
He turns their attention back to the topic, pointing to a curry and yakiniku stand.
“This place isn’t bad.”
Akane finds his mouth watering as soon as he catches a whiff of the yakiniku. He just nods, taking some steps ahead- something in him doesn’t want to let the upperclassman know he’s excited.
“ ...You know- you can’t keep the whole world safe. Sometimes I think you forget you’re just a student.”
“I’m not just a student, though.”
Comes the immediate rebuttal. Teru moves quickly to order the food Akane’s drooling at before he can argue.
“I’m a promising exorcist with a long family history to uphold. If I can’t even keep one town safe, then what am I?”
Akane squints at the other with his sharp eyes, cutting through the bullshit easily.
“You’re still just a kid, stupid. Tragedy is happening all over- that’s just how life and death interact. You should narrow your scope a bit to the things that matter most.”
He stabs the last of the takoyaki with the toothpick, holding it out as a final offering
“You’ve done a pretty good job keeping your brother safe. He’s still kicking, I think that’s a pretty solid track record.”
Teru leans forward and takes the food into his mouth with a blank expression. Chewing thoughtfully and shaking his head.
“ I’m not out to make a pity party.”
He takes the finished order from the vendor with a smile, pushing it into Akane’s hands.
“I’m here to thank you. For helping me today.”
“Ah-”
Akane definitely hadn’t meant to feed him couple style like that. He frowns, focusing on the meat in his hands instead.
“That’s what this was about? I thought for sure you were gonna wrangle me into some other business with you.”
The flustered look he receives makes him remember how much he likes messing with Akane and he has to stifle a chuckle with his hand, looking away.
“Well... I was curious about something…”
“What would that be?”
(His smile grows as he watches Akane take a bite, his face lighting up only a moment at the savory barbecue before he hides any less-than-annoyed expression from him. Has Teru ever bought someone food before that wasn’t his siblings? Has he ever hung out with friends?
“Ah... I was just wondering about your powers. Are they only effective at the school? Can you use it anywhere?”
It’s another moment where Akane chews another piece contently and swallows. Should he be telling him everything-? Well...he doesn’t seem like a threat right now...
“Mmm... it’s a bit more inconvenient than you’d think. My contract only allows me to use it at school- but I kind of prefer it like that.
It means I get to be more human- it’s not my problem off school grounds.”
“Mm. Ok. So I actually can’t really wrangle you into any other business.”
Teru nods along thoughtfully.
“Can you see supernaturals outside of school?”
He follows up while tapping the edge of his glasses with a curious expression.
“...
I mean- I’m not wearing these for no reason. That’s the one thing that follows me home.”
Akane turns away, carefully straightening his glasses back into order.
“Those pink things hide in my backpack. It’s better if I just don’t see it.”
Teru laughs.
“The mokke are pesky aren’t they? They stopped following me long ago- when I started zapping them on sight in the house.”
This makes Akane pause, looking at his feet for a second, then peering up at Teru under his glasses with sharp eyes.
“ I mean... it’s not like they’re hurting anything. Isn’t that a bit intense? Especially since your sister likes them.”
It feels weird, and he’s visibly uncomfortable defending the supernaturals he claims to hate so much.Teru looks a bit tense and glances away.
“ Mm. Tiara does like them, and they’re not the worst nuisance, but... If my grandparents visited, and there were stray spirits in the apartment... They would not approve.”
He says it with a sharpness. It carries a heavy weight.
“No wonder you’re uptight.
You’re high ranking and still under that kind of scrutiny?
Yikes.”
Akane scoffs as he leads them to a bench- strategically next to an ice cream stand- and sits down to finish his meal.
“Must be hard.”
Teru follows, hesitating for a moment before sitting down, like he can’t relax.
“Of course they’re watching me. I have my siblings with me, and they are also prospective exorcists. I can’t fuck up.”
He sighs and looks up at the sky, watching the distant twinkling stars cloud over. The vulgar language catches Akane off guard for a moment though, but he forgoes the snark this time.
“...Hey-
Don’t take this the wrong way but…
Do you have any friends?”
The blonde’s face scrunches for a moment in offense, but it doesn’t last as he notices the lack of humor in Akane. His lips press together.
“Um... No. Not really. I mean, I have classmates and... I have you?”
...Really-?”
The underclassman squints at him, not expected to fall into that category by any means. “So...you’re trying to do this exorcist responsibility, raise your siblings, and uphold your family’s name-”
He starts to talk with his hands, gesturing with more emphasis on each burden
“ AND you’re pushing away the only people that can really help you- on top of that you have NO social life or means of venting.”
He frowns, brow furrowing in concern and harsh judgement.
“You told me this wasn’t a pity party, but you’re making it hard not to be. I give you a year TOPS before you snap entirely.”
“That’s not- I mean. I’ve been fine for this long. I don’t see why that would change. It’s not like I have time to make friends.”
Teru has gotten defensive, fingers tapping against his knees as his jaw reddens.
“Yeah, but do you really want to burn out at the ripe age of 18 years?”
Akane leans forward, resting his chin in his hand and looking up at the other boy.
“Your current outlet is harassing me at school, but if that's all you have...
I don't know. That must be lonely, that's all.”
They sit in silence for a little while, and Akane keeps to himself as he thinks. Finally, he stands-
“Hold on.”
He walks a little bit over, and when he returns, it's with an ice cream cone in each hand. He holds out one to the older boy.
“It's chocolate raspberry- I don't know if you like that at all. But don't eat it if you don't want it. It's whatever.”
Teru takes it with both hands, looking down at it with shameful redness creeping up his cheeks. He doesn’t know how to respond, so he sits quietly, venturing to try a bite of the treat. It’s one of the first times Akane has seen him speechless. When he finally says something, it’s subdued. “It’s good.”
“Yeah…”
Akane tries not to look at him too much- but it's unfamiliar seeing him without his aura of overwhelming power. He...almost feels bad about it.
“...Raspberry is my favorite.
...What's yours?
Favorite flavor, I mean.”
“Chocolate.”
Teru smiles again, some of the ice cream on the tip of his nose.
“Then this isn't half bad for you, huh?”
Akane finds himself smiling back despite it all, though he keeps his gaze down to hide it.
“...What other kinds of things do you like?
Do you have any actual hobbies?”
Maybe this is good for him... both of them really- Talking like friends.
Teru is looking over at him again, his eyes piercing even when his expression is soft.
“Hobbies…”
He definitely has to think about it for a moment.
“I like to read and... Sing.”
“Singing, huh? Have you ever gone out for karaoke?”
Akane keeps glancing back at Teru, feeling antsy under his scrutiny- even though this is a different face than he normally makes.
“You'd probably enjoy it…”
Teru scratches behind his own ear, looking away towards the people on the street.
“ Ha... No, I haven’t.”
Something feels shy between them, and he finds himself having a hell of a time continuing to be so genuine, but... it still feels nice to talk.
“What about you?”
“Mm...I've had a lot of hobbies.”
It doesn't require much explanation- of course the upperclassman knows of his efforts to impress his childhood friend. He takes a deeper breath, speaking more in a mumble as embarrassment rises in his chest.
“ ...I do really like doing miniature kits...
I started that because Ao-chan was interested, but I kept it up…”
Teru tilts his head, leaning a bit towards him with interest.
“Miniature kits...? Like.... those tiny house things?”
He mimics tweezers. He gets a big smile suddenly.
“Wow! That’s so cute.”
“Ah- You don't have to call it cute…”
He feels his cheeks redden a bit, and he quickly stuffs a bite of ice cream in his mouth, wincing at the chill.
“... Mmm. I'm working on...a teahouse right now…”
Teru catches on to his blush quickly, bumping him a bit with his shoulder. He isn’t going to let him out of this.
“ A tea house? Do you have any pictures?”
“...”
Akane bites his lip, sitting for a moment with his shoulders hunched forward. It's not like...it's a secret- but it's not something he talks about either. His hand slowly retrieves his phone from his pocket, and in a moment he's holding out a picture of a recently finished greenhouse. It's decorated with an abundance of intricately crafted flowers and gardening tools, and though the picture isn't focused on it, Teru can see the small figure of a certain dark haired girl standing in the midst of it.
“I just...finished this a bit ago. It's still kind of messy- the flowers were hard because there were so many kinds. So don't look too closely.”
Teru spends a long and silent moment inspecting the picture. His hand has reached out to steady the phone and pull it closer to himself, over Akane’s hand.
“...
This is…
Really amazing! You made all of it by hand?”
He points to one of the gardening tools in the picture.
“How big is that?”
Akane stiffens under the touch for a moment- but only a moment as he focuses on his handiwork instead.
“That-? Uh... About a centimeter, give or take. It was the length of my pinky nail.”
Teru’s eyes are wide and interested.
“ Wow! Really? That’s crazy!”
He laughs in delight, but sombers slightly.
“...Akane-san....Didn’t like this?”
“I... haven't shown her this one.”
Akane can't contain himself now, face heating up more and more.
“I showed her the first one I made- It was supposed to be the sakura trees at the spring entrance ceremony…”
He looks a little bummed out, his voice becoming tense and flustered.
“She liked the details but she told me ‘Wow, Akane-kun, it's like you captured me forever here. Kinda creepy~☆’
WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY? So now I make little worlds for tiny Ao-chan and I can't show her any of it!!!”
“Ah…”
Teru watches the other spiral, nodding along with brows upturned.
“That’s rough... But I mean, I’m sure there’s lots of other people who would like this sort of thing. I think it’s pretty cool. You should post it online or something.”
He tilts his head with a little encouraging smile. It’s still hard to tell where his mask smiles end and real ones begin, but he sounds pretty honest.
“...You think so?
I've never thought about sharing it…”
Akane looks back up, finally regaining composure. Regrettably, there's still pink to his cheeks.
“...Thanks.”
“Yeah- No problem.”
He looks away, his cone gone now.
“ ...
Anyway- I should get going. I still have a lot of ground to cover.”
He stands from the bench with a sinking in his chest, feeling awkward again.
“Ah, hey- hold on.”
Akane reaches out, grabbing Teru's sleeve. He looks up at him with strain, having spoken before thinking.
“...You... can call me out here like this again. I don't mind.
I-if you buy me food again, I mean.”
Teru stares back at him for a beat, looking surprised. His expression softens again into a smile though.
“Sure thing.”
He steps out of his grasp with a little wave.
“See you tomorrow, Akane.”
“See you-”
Akane waves back, sitting for a while longer to reflect on it all- how involved he should actually be...how involved he WANTS to be.
...Whatever- he still has studying to do anyway.
This was an adapted roleplay between me and @nene-chanblog ^^ Hope you enjoyed! <3

Note
3 things:
the first, Le gasp. Did Madara gave Hashirama the necklace that Tsunade gave to Naruto? That's always been a headcanon of mine so it'd be super cool if that was the case for OoT.
the 2nd: I now have a mental image of Gai running laps around Konoha with Lee & Hashimada bellowing about youth, like he does. Ppl just assuming that they're his Genin team. Cue either Neji, Tenten or Kakashi hearing about it and going over to check what's happening.
Kakashi will gaze upon the matching jumpsuits and give up on life
Neji and Tenten will be offended that they've been replaced.
The 3rd: Hashirama learns of Kakashi's (or well anyones) distaste for the jumpsuits and innocently suggest that when he becomes Hokage he'll implement them as the official Shinobi uniform. Legwarmers and all.
Now that I think about it, the Gai's outfit it literally Kakashi's except green and w/ legwarmers instead of bandages. So it probably wouldn't be that different, but its still kinda funny.
How are people afraid of the Gunbai? Cuz they're not old enough to have seen Madara use it and since he's a ghost, shouldn't all portraits/pictures of him be gone. I mean I guess there's still the statue. But Madara's not weilding a fan in that one. Are students just told in the academy that the fan is bad or is it more like a cultural aversion to fans. If that's the case then are they afraid of the fan or just dislike it? Cuz its kinda implied that Gai panicked upon seeing the fan and opened the 6th gate, but that's a big reaction that would only be triggered by actual fear instead of disgust.
Sorry for the long ramble. I was just so excited to see Oot update that my words got away from me. Love your fic!
Warnings for slight spoilers, it's more background necklace stuff only in point 1 but just fyi in case it’s important to you!
1. Yes! I love that headcanon but this one has a slightly different history behind it. Madara did give it to him, but it's the necklace he inherited from his mother that his father gave her. This is bc in the "canon" history, Madara and Hashirama were never public about their relationship. The traditional Uchiha courtship necklace was incredibly recognizable (the magatama ie the big "comma" symbol on sage/indra/ashura's clothes) so Madara couldn't easily make him one. However, Tajima made the same necklace for Kou but it broke into its now-recognizable shape of today and she refused to wear any other necklace but that one, saying it was unique among all the Uchiha's (she also compared it to a dick when Tajima added the two beads on either side to make it look nicer, but that's bc Kou had a rather coarse sense of humor). Typically the mother's necklace is inherited by the oldest daughter but since Kou only had sons, it went to Madara and was one of the last things he had of her. It was his declaration of love to give it to Hashirama and, considering how vilified and demonized Kou was to the Senju, his own declaration to accept and wear it.
2. Oh you better believe they’ll run laps together! (edit: I realized this got buried in my drafts so Chapter 17 has already come out, so yes you predicted part of the future 😜) Hashirama will be little more proactive in his revenge so no stumbling upon them haha! And Gai already has plans to introduce the terrors to his genin team 😉
3. He’ll accidentally stumble upon Kakashi’s specific distaste of the outfit but you better believe once he finds, he’ll just happen to bring it up to Kakashi every once in a while just to see his reaction.
The issue with the gunbai is it’s specifically associated with the Ghost of the Uchiha. Madara’s individual name got lost (only the elders, ninja with access to classified records, and certain clans remember it). But the “Ghost” was a bogeyman to Konoha, an evil, terrible man who was cursed with only hatred in his heart, who turned on the village and tried to destroy it.
(In the full story, it also connects Konoha’s hatred of Kurama specifically (the monster the Ghost used to try and destroy the village) which will also be connected to one reason why the jinchuriki were always set up to be pariahs, and how by killing Madara, Hashirama’s deification as the God of Shinobi was complete, as well as another reason the Uchiha were separated and held at arms length which only worsened over time as the story became more and more mythologized and Madara’s past contributions as a founder were lost.)
Because there weren’t paintings/statues of the Ghost (except for VotE which...I think is actually a bit of a controversial piece for Konoha tbh, and the Uchiha’s secret mural) the only thing that really stuck to symbolize him was the gunbai. This is a very American-centric perspective and I will be the first to admit isn’t a perfect parallel by any means but the kind of fear/hatred most of Konoha and especially ninja have towards the gunbai/Ghost can be thought of like the Red Scare panic. The “paranoia” point isn’t quite met but that kind of visceral hatred and fear over something that they’re told to fear and hate but don’t actually have first hand experience is similar. I also think it could work as a kind of dark reflection of the Will of Fire ideology. If you’re not someone who would sacrifice everything for the village and endure relentlessly...are you going to betray the village and become the next Ghost? That’s not a vocal belief in Konoha, but more something that’s kind of implied by the black/white mentality that nationalism kind of inspires. The emotion is only towards gunbai in particular, but the culture around fans in general and them being “too similar” has created an aversion to all fans esp in the ninja clans. Tenten has a small tessen (an iron hand held fan) but it’s something that very clearly marks her as clanless to other shinobi because no clan ninja would own one.
All of this to say, when Gai first saw the gunbai unexpectedly the years of being taught this explicitly and implicitly kicked in and he reacted. It was a panicked instinct and if he weren’t the amazing man we know and love seeing Madara with the gunbai and definitely knowing their connection, other ninja in Konoha would find it perfectly reasonable for him to then try and attack Madara.
I hope this clears things up, I felt I got a bit rambly in the middle!

Yashiro and Tsukasa's Relationship
Tumblr media
You have to admit that kiss took you by surprise, didn't it? Suddenly Tsukasa, who had been missing for so long, returns in all his glory making everyone talk about him.
The war between Tsunene and Hanene had started hahaha I particularly found it interesting how most people didn't notice the signs that Tsukasa gave throughout the series about how he saw Yashiro.
We must assume that Tsukasa is a controversial boy, totally unpredictable and difficult to read, but one thing that helped me see the signs is that I like to separate the pieces before analyzing.
What do you mean, analyze the pieces?
I don't analyze Tsukasa in general, I divide it into periods. There is the 4-year-old Tsukasa, the 13-year-old and the sealed one. The three are the same person but they are totally different with some similarities.
Tsukasa child is kind, empathetic and emotional. 13 year old Tsukasa is similar, but we don't have much information about him yet, sealed Tsukasa is chaos, but apparently he is also emotional. We can now follow this side of him. The way Tsukasa was dealing with Yashiro in chapter 107 is surprisingly contrary to how he usually is.
Tumblr media
For a boy who gets angry quickly and acts aggressively at the slightest opportunity when disturbed, reacting so patiently with a child who throws a tantrum, who screams and hits him shows that there is still the 4 and 13 year old Tsukasa there.
Tumblr media
Looks like Hanako isn't the only one who's a good actor, twin thing, you know. It's funny how sometimes I can see the 13-year-old Tsukasa in him, always with that melancholy look…
Tumblr media
It's as if in the midst of that chaos there is a calm that few people can see. This calm that Amane loved, but he couldn't bear the storms. So, it all started with Nene. Little Tsukasa's eyes shone for the first time in so long, someone hugged him so willingly.
Tumblr media
So the stars, you know, those stars that always appear when the characters are enchanted, happy, or positively surprised by something
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they appear here.
Tumblr media
So he is relieved when Kou says he has never kissed her
Tumblr media
He asks Yashiro if she likes him or his brother. He wanted to show Yashiro about Amane's past, and he does so from the beginning.
Then, the sealed Tsukasa takes her to the tea party and purposely makes her see Amane from the past. He makes Yashiro take the teacher's seal, and another piece of Amane's history.
Hahaha of course we know he uses Nene to take out the Yorishiros, I talked about that.
But let's focus on the relationship between them in addition to related objectives.
How does Tsukasa see Yashiro?
Isn't that the golden question? His eyes shine in childhood when she hugs him, he is relieved when Kou denied kissing her, he abruptly approaches her face when she denies kissing or dating Amane, he regresses when he almost hits her head on the floor when Yashiro got in the way with Mitsuba (scary), he might not have killed her but hurt her the same way he did Kou. Then, he returns to the school festival and asks her to play with him again, then the kiss and his good reaction to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aren't they signs?
This doesn't guarantee anything, but the signs are there. The twin who would fall in love with the girl his older brother loves… What would be the best revenge for the older brother who killed him?
What if Amane had killed him because Tsukasa had fallen in love with the girl he loves? hahahaha this crossed my mind even though it seemed so unlikely, but was Tsukasa kissing Yashiro something you thought would happen?
But then, Amane feels guilty and doesn't accept any justification for killing someone. He punishes himself all the time thinking about it. But he would explain why he is so jealous and insecure (in part, because there is no shortage of reasons for Amane to be like this, I could list them all day hahaha)
But imagine, the classic story of twins who fall in love with the same girl and one of the brothers kills the other for the girl's love. And in a worse case scenario, what if he killed them both because they were guilty to him.
But what if Tsukasa decided to give up Nene because Amane fell in love with her?
Ok I exaggerated now, sorry XD hahahaha
It's funny how the relationship between the three fluctuates like that. In another post I talked about how it would work according to Tsukasa's goals. Using Nene to manipulate Hanako and remove the seals, if you want to know more about this hypothesis, click here.
But since we are talking about how their relationship would work without considering these goals, because there is a possibility, after all, Amane also had a goal but fell in love with Nene, why wouldn't Tsukasa be the same?
Maybe he was just fulfilling Amane's wish, to meet Nene again. Ah, the hypotheses, how could we adopt just one? There are so many possibilities…
But honestly? It seems that Tsukasa, dissatisfied and hurt that his brother killed him even though he sacrificed himself for him, may have felt that he didn't do enough.
Amane still hates me, what could I do to make him love me? What I did before wasn't enough, so what is his wish? Meet Nene again?
And Tsukasa didn't make that happen? He said he can feel a desire within the heart of whoever summons him, if that wasn't the only thing, what else would it be?
It's as if Tsukasa is spending the last of his energy to fulfill his older brother's wish, and Nene is part of that wish.
Melancholy, isn't it? You try hard to make the person you love most love you back, you think they hate you, so you do everything for them to make them love you, but in the end they stab you. When you regain consciousness, you are hurt, but you love him enough to forgive. So, you try again, you try to fulfill his wish, even if you have to disappear again (when your yorishiro seal is removed).
Tumblr media
And you work so hard, but what will you get in return?
What will Tsukasa get in return?
I'm going to admit that I loved that Tsukasa kissed Yashiro, not because I ever considered Tsunene, but because it shows that Tsukasa was always much more than he shows us.
Because he is a storm, but you know, every storm has its lull.

Reckless Good (3/?)
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia
Fic Rating: Explicit
Chapter Rating: Teen+
Pairing: Todoroki Shouto/Midoriya Izuku
Note: Thanks so much for the great response so far! And if you haven’t already, please check out some of the other great pieces for the TDDK Big Bang this year!
Todoroki Shouto had accepted his fate as a public figure when he became a pro-hero, but there are some parts of his private life he would like to stay private. When he gets invited to be a speaker in a college lecture series, he goes to the meeting with one goal: to give the coordinator a piece of his mind and finally put an end to people hounding him for information about his family.
The last thing he expects is the curious, and quirkless, hero- and quirk-study professor, Midoriya Izuku, who has no interest in his family’s history, and, somehow, even more ties to the hero industry than Shouto. Intrigued by the professor, Shouto tentatively agrees to the lecture series, unknowingly intertwining their futures.
But the more Todoroki sees of Midoriya, the more questions he has. When a villain attack leaves them living together until the culprits are apprehended, maybe he’ll finally get some answers.
AO3: (x) Chapter One: (X) Chapter Two: (X)
Shouto is, regrettably, not unfamiliar with the process of checking into the hospital, or the protocols in the burn unit, but things seem to go surprisingly quick with a doctor at his side, explaining not only the extent of his injury but the cause. Just a few moments after they’ve arrived, Shouto is whisked away from Dr. Midoriya and Kou to have his burn cleaned and dressed. They run the usual battery of tests, poke him for blood what feels like a dozen times, and after about half a dozen reassurances to various doctors and nurses that, yes, he does know how to care for a burn at home, he’s told he might be able to go home later that night.
The room he’s put in is, admittedly, one of the nicer hospital rooms that he’s visited. It’s part of a private wing made specifically for pro-heroes to get a little peace from fans and the media while recovering, but it doesn’t make him hate it any less. He’s only been alone in the room for twenty minutes or so, but he’s already contemplating a prison break. Let Momo handle the paperwork for his unconventional discharge on her next day at the office and call it good. But the risk of being put on some extra mandatory leave is too great. His doctor and Momo have been on his case about taking care of himself properly for months now and they’d love any excuse to bench him for a few extra weeks, instead of the couple of days he’ll need for the burn to heal enough that he can cover it securely and get back to work.
There’s a short knock on the door. Shouto starts to mentally prepare himself for another argument with a doctor when the door inches open and Kou peeks in. Surprised, Shouto waves to her. Kou smiles back, turning to motion at someone behind her. A moment later the door opens the rest of the way and Kou rushes in, followed by Dr. Midoriya.
“Dr. Midoriya and I are on a secret adventure.” Kou announces in a whisper. There’s a Uravity-themed spacesuit sticker on her cheek and she looks as if she’s recovered from the evening’s events, but her clothes have been replaced by a colorful hospital gown and fuzzy bathrobe.
Dr. Midoriya hasn’t changed his clothes, but he has a white lab coat on over top.
“Oh? What is your secret adventure?” Shouto asks. He shifts to the side and makes room for Kou to climb onto the bed besides him.
“Visiting you!” She announces, happily. “It’s a secret because I’m not supposed to leave the quirk ward, but Dr. Midoriya snuck me out. This is for you. Dr. Midoriya said you were friends!” She pulls two more stickers out of a pocket in her robe and hands them to him; a music note that says Earphone Jack and a nesting doll in Creati’s costume.
“Thank you,” Shouto says genuinely, though he has no idea what he’s going to do with the stickers. But his mind is distracted by Kou’s other words. The quirk ward? Obviously there was a reason the villains had targeted the girl, but that detail had gotten buried in the chaos of everything else. Now he’s reminded of the villain’s words…something about her being the key.
He looks up but Dr. Midoriya meets his eye with a subtle shake of his head.
Shouto lets the subject drop for now, but he’s determined to stay a part of this investigation. He’ll get his answers eventually.
Turning back to Kou, he tries a hesitant smile. “Would you still like that autograph?”
Her whole being lights up. “Really?” She reaches into the pocket of her robe again only for her face to drop. “Oh. I forgot my notebook.”
Dr. Midoriya taps her on the shoulder, holding out a small, heart-shaped notepad and a glittery gel pen.
Kou gasps, taking the items from him with excited thanks. She flips through the notebook quickly looking for a blank page, and Shouto is surprised by how many signatures she’s already amassed. Satisfied with the location, she hands the notebook and pen to him. She’s practically vibrating in excitement as he writes a quick note to her, trying to make it sound a little more personal than his usual scribbled signature.
Just as Shouto finishes his note, there’s another knock on the door. Yet another doctor steps into the room, reading through something in a folder. Her long, silver hair is draped over her shoulder in a thick braid and there’s a sharp horn coming out of her forehead. She seems faintly familiar to Shouto but he can’t place why he would recognize her. At the very least he doesn’t think he’s ever had her as a doctor before. She stops in her tracks when she sees Dr. Midoriya and Kou gathered around his hospital bed.
“Izuku!” she scolds, crossing her arms over her chest.
It takes Shouto a moment to remember Izuku is Dr. Midoriya’s first name. He glances up at him.
Dr. Midoriya leans close to Kou, covering his mouth with one hand to stage whisper to her. “I think we got caught.”
Kou copies him with a quiet giggle. “Oops.”
Shouto closes her notebook carefully and slides it across the bed. Kou covertly slips it into her robe.
“What are you even doing here?” The new doctor asks, exasperated. There’s no way she didn’t hear the two of them whispering, but she seems to be ignoring it.
“Kou just wanted to thank Entropy for saving her!” Dr. Midoriya insists, apparently choosing to take no blame in their “secret adventure.”
“Dr. Aizawa has a quirk kind of like mine,” Kou tells Shouto in a hushed voice while the two doctors argue. “She and Dr. Midoriya are really nice. And funny.”
Dr. Aizawa makes it all click. The light hair and the horn. She was the same little girl Aizawa had adopted during Shouto’s first year.
“We were just leaving, Dr. Aizawa!” Kou chimes in suddenly, sliding off the bed and grabbing Dr. Midoriya’s hand. “Bye!”
Dr. Aizawa shakes her head as Dr. Midoriya is pulled out of the room by a girl a quarter his size. “This isn’t over just because you have a patient protecting you, Izuku.”
Dr. Midoriya sends a bright smile back at her just as the door closes on the two of them.
“I hope they weren’t bothering you too much,” Dr. Aizawa says as she comes over to Shouto’s bed.
He shakes his head. “No, I’m glad I got to see her again. I was worried she’d be a little more upset after everything.”
“Kou’s a strong girl. She’s going to be okay.” Dr. Aizawa says with certainty. “Anyways, I’m Aizawa Eri, I’m part of the hero staff here.”
“Aizawa, er...Eraserhead’s daughter, right?”
Dr. Aizawa smiles and it looks so shockingly like Dr. Midoriya’s, Shouto can’t help but wonder about what their connection to each other is. Especially with how casually she spoke to him. Could they be related? It seems like he would have known if his homeroom teacher had also had or adopted a son his age, wouldn’t he? “That’s right, you were one of his students! Nice to see you again.”
Shouto bows his head in acknowledgement. He knows he met the young girl Aizawa adopted a few times, but his memories of her are fuzzy at best.
Dr. Aizawa checks him over again, asking him a few questions about how he’s feeling and what’s been done already. Finally, she gets to why she’s here to see him. “I’m not sure if you would remember, but my quirk is Rewind. It’s delicate but helpful for healing, especially for many pros. If you remember about how long ago you were burned, I should be able to heal your arm so that you can get back to work without too much fuss.”
“Really?”
Dr. Aizawa nods. “I can rewind your body back to before it happened, but it will rewind your whole body so the closer to the exact time it happened the better, otherwise too many things could change. Do you have a good idea of when it happened?”
“What time is it now?”
Dr. Aizawa glances at her watch. “Almost ten.”
Shouto is briefly surprised by that information. He hadn’t realized how long he had been in the hospital already. “I left the agency after the first alerts came in around 6:30, so it was probably around 7 that I made contact with the villain. I can’t be more exact than that, unfortunately.”
“That should work alright. Would you like to be rewound, or would you prefer to let it heal naturally?”
Shouto shakes his head. Anything to speed up the process. “No, please rewind it if you can.”
She smiles. “Okay, it will be just a moment then.”
Dr. Aizawa pulls on a pair of gloves and takes his arm in her hands, gently, mindful of the injury and the loose bandages protecting it.
A moment later the horn at her temple begins to glow, Shouto has to look away as the warm light grows brighter and then, just like that, it’s over. When he looks back at the doctor, her horn has shrunk a little, losing some of the sharp edge at the top.
“Okay! You should be good to go. How does it feel?”
Shouto moves his arm a few times, relieved that there’s no pain as he moves it. Carefully he peels off the bandages. It looks as if he was never injured, not even a small scar left behind.
Dr. Aizawa looks pleased with the results. “Perfect. Unfortunately it doesn’t work on non-living things so you will have to have your costume repaired separately.”
“That’s fine,” Shouto says. He was more worried about being forced to take some sick leave than repairing his costume to begin with. “Thank you.”
Dr. Aizawa smiles again. “Of course. I’m happy to help.” She pulls a few papers out of her folder and hands them to him. “If you are ready, you can take these to the desk out front and you’ll be discharged.”
Shouto hesitates as he takes the papers from her. An hour ago he was ready to run at the first chance, but now…she was someone who might have some answers…
“Kou mentioned that the two of you had similar quirks,”
“I’m sorry. If you become a part of the investigation I’m sure you’ll find out more information, but for now I can’t disclose a patient’s information.”  Dr. Aizawa says before he can even finish figuring out exactly what he wants to ask.
“Right. Sorry.”
“It’s alright. I don’t blame you for being curious, not after everything that’s happened.”
Dr. Aizawa looks ready to leave, but there’s one more thing Shouto has to ask. At least while he still has a chance.
“Can I ask about Dr. Midoriya, then?”
Dr. Aizawa stops with a puzzled look. “Izuku? What about him?”
Shouto's mind goes blank. Everything doesn’t seem like a plausible response. At least not one that would get him anywhere. “Uh, I…I was just surprised to hear you call him Izuku. Are you close?”
Dr. Aizawa studies him for a long time as if she could determine whatever ulterior motives he had for asking just by staring him down. Maybe she could if even he knew what he was doing asking these questions.
“I’ve known Izuku for a long time,” she finally says. “He’s like family.”
The answer is careful, guarded. With the slightest undertone of a threat.
“…Right.” Shouto replies awkwardly. “Thank you.”
Dr. Aizawa inclines her head to him. “Have a nice night, Entropy.”
After checking out with Dr. Aizawa’s discharge papers, Shouto heads back to the agency. Sunspot practically tackles him in the lobby.
“Entropy! You’re okay! I thought you were just going to check on the kidnapped civilian, but then Ingenium told me his friend was taking you to the hospital and that I had nothing to worry about so I should just go back to the agency but I didn’t know why you were going to the hospital or what was happening,” she stutters over her words for a moment, taking a breath. “Was it okay to leave? I didn’t know what else to do but I didn’t know what hospital you went to or why. Were you injured? You don’t look hurt. Is that how you damaged your costume?”
Shouto lets her run on while he goes to his office. He knows she’ll follow. And that it’s pointless to try and get a word in until she runs out of breath.
Sunspot sinks into one of his office chairs as he goes to turn his computer on. He lifts a brow at her slumped form in the armchair.
“Are you done?”
She opens her mouth to speak again but after a moment shuts it again and nods.
“The villain who took the hostage burned me. I hadn’t realized the extent of the injury until later. I’m sorry I didn’t contact you personally so that you knew it was okay to come back, but it was fine that you came back. It wasn’t serious.” Shouto explains calmly. “You said Ingenium told you to come back?” Shouto thinks back to Dr. Midoriya texting in the ambulance and he wonders if the two know each other.
Sunspot nods again. “He came and found me and told me a friend was taking you to the hospital. I assumed he meant one of the paramedics. I didn’t know he was friends with the paramedics. Was that part of U.A. training? Getting to know first-responders closely? Or just a coincidence?”
“I think it’s just a coincidence on Ingenium’s part. Not something you’re missing out on.” Shouto says. “You did good tonight. Go home and get some rest.”
“But-”
Shouto gestures to her before she can argue. “You expended a lot of your reserve helping the rescue crews with civilians trapped under the rubble and then helping me melt the ice. It’s okay.”
Sunspot looks down at herself. The faint glow she normally gives off as a result of having excess energy saved up by her quirk is almost completely extinguished. At the late hour, she wouldn’t be able to get any more energy even if they needed to go out into the field again. Not until the sun was up again.
Sunspot pushes herself out of the chair. “I’m sorry I can’t be more help tonight.” She says with a short bow.
Shouto waves her off. “It’s okay.”
“Good night, Entropy.”
“Good night, Sunspot. Good work tonight.” Shouto says. He catches just a glimpse of her relieved smile as his office door closes quietly behind her.
Alone, Shouto settles into his desk chair, already mentally preparing for a long night. He considers going against doctor’s orders and getting some coffee but just barely resists the temptation. Caffeine might end up making him too jittery to focus and this is important. Writing up a more in-depth report of the event for the police and the agency records is the first priority of the night. But after that, Shouto has some research to do.
 X
Momo finds him like that in the morning. Sometime in the night the combination of the late hour and bright computer screen got to him and he went in search of his rarely-worn glasses to take some of the stress off. His final report and the accompanying paperwork are tucked in a folder for safe keeping, but the rest of his desk is a disaster zone of scattered pages, printed news reports of the attack last night with any information he might have missed, any police reports on the matter he could get his hands on with his current clearance, his own compiled notes.
He doesn’t even realize someone else is in the office with him until Momo clears her throat, placing a paper to-go cup of tea in the middle of his desk, on top of the latest piece he’s reading.
“Shouto,” she says seriously, crossing her arms over her chest. “ When did you last take a break?”
Shouto tries to come up with an answer but his brain is fuzzy at best, street names and potential identities floating at the forefront of his consciousness. “Uh, what time is it?”
Momo sighs, rubbing at her temple with one hand. “ Go home, Shouto.”
“I just need to-"
“No.” Momo comes around the other side of his desk, pulling him up and out of his desk chair by one arm. “It’s almost eight o'clock. You need to go home and go to bed.”
Momo might have had a point, his shift was supposed to end at six that morning and he hadn’t even noticed the time, but he digs his heels in, resisting being dragged from the office to the best of his ability. Unfortunately, Momo is stronger than she looks, and has the advantage of a full-night’s sleep on him.
“Go home. Go to sleep. Don’t come back until Saturday.”
“But-”
“You were injured! You should have called me as soon as you were taken to the hospital,” Momo scolds.
“I got better.”
Momo looks at him curiously. She comes to a stop, scanning him over. Shouto’s sure he looks a mess, still half-dressed in his damaged hero-suit, the top unzipped and tied around his waist. His hair has started to escape the braid he had it in for work and he can see the loose hair floating in his peripheral vision. Not to mention how exhausted he probably looks after spending the whole night scouring the police database. But – he’s not injured.
“What do you mean you ‘got better’? You weren’t really injured?”
Shouto sighs. “No, I was. There was a doctor at the hospital with a quirk who fixed it. Aizawa’s daughter, actually.”
Momo’s brows shoot up in surprise. “I didn’t realize she became a doctor. That’s wonderful.” She pauses. “But not the point. You still should have called someone. Though I suppose I should be grateful you went to get help, at all.”
Shouto rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. “Well…there was a doctor on the scene when I was talking to the girl who was targeted who saw my burn.”
“A doctor?”
“Uh…Dr. Midoriya.” Shouto explains. He isn’t sure if Momo will recognize the name, not entirely sure if he wants her to remember or not.
“The professor from the lecture series?” Momo asks in surprise. “What was he doing there?”
“Apparently he’s not just a professor.”
Momo studies him for a few moments, trying to figure something out. Shouto doesn’t blame her. He’d like some answers about his behavior too. He just hopes she comes to an easy conclusion, like Shouto cooperated with Dr. Midoriya because he sort-of knew him, and not anything else ridiculous. Or revealing. Or uncomfortable.
Finally, Momo shakes her head, brushing off whatever conclusions she may have come to. “I don’t care. Go home. Sleep. Eat something. I’ll finish submitting your reports to the police and I’ll make sure they know you are interested in joining the case searching for the villains who escaped last night, but other than talking to anyone who contacts you about the case, I don’t want to hear about you working again until this weekend.”
Shouto wants to keep arguing, he’s not even hurt anymore, but he knows this is the best he’s going to get from her. He is also unbelievably grateful for all the years they’ve known each other and how Momo knows exactly what he needs to hear to relax, even just a little.  “Okay. Thank you.”
Momo nods. “We’ll get whoever it is, Shouto. But you don’t have to do it alone. And you can’t do it in one night. So please take care of yourself. I’ll see you on Friday for dinner.”
Momo waves to an intern, instructing them to escort Shouto to the exit. Shouto wants to protest being babysat the rest of the way to the door, but Momo pins him with a hard look before he can even open his mouth and he lets it happen. Admittedly, now that he’s not pouring over his research to keep himself moving, he can feel exhaustion settling over him.
Though he could still find the way to the damn door himself.
Shouto stumbles into his dark apartment twenty minutes later. He leaves the lights off as he comes through the entrance. The morning sun has started to fill the front room with light, and its enough for him to make his way to the bedroom without tripping over anything. His bed is cool, the sheets still ruffled from the previous morning. Shouto just barely remembers to strip off his ruined hero-suit before he drops into the bed, using his left side to warm up the sheets quicker. In a minute, he’s asleep.
When he wakes again, warm golden light pours into the room from his half-open window. He runs a hand over his face, trying to will away the strange, disorienting feeling of waking up. He reaches to his bedside table, knocking a few things to the side until he connects with his alarm clock. Pulling it close, he squints at the lit screen. It was almost five in the afternoon. Shouto tosses the offending thing away. He takes just a few moments to reorient himself before he forces himself out of bed and into the shower.
He only remembers after stepping into the spray that half of his hair is still twisted into a braid. He swears as he tears the now-wet strands free of the stubborn rubber-band, tugging at the knots there unhappily. He doesn’t mean to stay in the shower for long, but after fighting with his hair for who knows how long, the heat and relaxing pound of the spray against his shoulders eases some of the tension from his body and he wastes time under the comforting water until it starts to run cold. The temperature change doesn’t bother him much, but he figures he’s wasted enough water like that and climbs out.
After drying off a little, Shouto brushes his teeth, and that, combined with washing off the grime of the previous day, helps make him feel a little more awake. A little more human.
Shouto dresses in casual civilian clothes. He finds his phone, dead, in a pocket of his hero-suit before tossing the ruined thing in a bag to give to the support team. They’ll probably just have to make him a new one, but he feels bad throwing it away without trying to salvage it.
His charger is plugged in near the bed, so he goes to grab it so he can charge his phone in the kitchen while he makes something to eat. But in fumbling around looking for the charger, he spots his forgotten glasses in the mess of sheets and pillows on his bed. The ear piece on the right side is bent at a strange angle and one of the lenses is cracked. Shit. Well, he supposes, that’s what he gets for wearing them for the first time in months while running on fumes. He tosses the damaged glasses on his side table and leaves for the kitchen.
Finally, he switches on a few lights.
His apartment is mostly bare, plain white walls with just a few basic pieces of furniture, mostly just there to fill the empty space. The occasional dirty glass or dish that gets left behind if he’s in a rush on his way to work are the only signs of the life in the otherwise dull place. Those, and the three picture frames hanging on the wall in his living room; one of his mother and siblings, one of his graduating class with their teachers mixed in with the colorful crowd, and one of the day he and Momo started their agency. They’re the only decoration he needs. They represent all the important people in his life.
There are a few containers of leftovers in the fridge, and while it would be easier to warm something up and leave it at that, Shouto takes the time to pull out some fresh ingredients. Washing off the vegetables and prepping them while rice cooks is a simple, familiar routine and it helps ground him.
He starts a simple stir fry with chicken just as his phone finally comes back to life, chiming with a number of missed notifications. Lowering the heat slightly, Shouto lets it simmer for a minute while he checks his phone.
A few of the notifications are basic news reports he usually dismisses, though today he saves any about last night’s attack incase there’s been any updated information. There are two texts from Momo asking if he got home safe and if he ate anything. He shoots of a quick reply to her, apologizing for not letting her know right away and reassuring her he’s making food now. He takes a picture of the pan and sends it as an after thought, just in case she doesn’t believe him. There are also a few texts from Kyouka telling him to stop worrying her wife and to stop being an idiot. He responds to those with a few choice emojis and nothing else. She’ll get the message.
Finally, he looks at the emails he missed. There’s one from an Officer Uchida he doesn’t recognize, confirming he (Momo) submitted the right paper work to join the case against the villains from the night before and once the task force has been officially formed he would be contacted with more information. Relieved, Shotuo saves the contact information and sets it as a priority so he’ll be sure to get any future notifications right away. The only other missed email is from Dr. Midoriya.
Shouto goes back to checking his food, stirring it for a few minutes and adding a few more ingredients. His attention goes back to his phone a few times, but he resists going back to it. He’s not sure why, he’s been waiting for this stupid email basically since he left the professor’s office, but suddenly he’s nervous about opening it. He’s not sure what to expect once he opens the list of the professor’s topics. What if he imagined all of this and the professor still wants him to talk about his family? What if Shouto can’t answer any of his questions about how his quirk works? Is it even a good idea for him to talk publicly about how his quirk works? Couldn’t someone use that against him?
Shouto turns his phone upside down, hiding the blinking notification.
He’ll look at it after he eats.
He finishes cooking a little while later. Scooping out a generous serving of rice into a bowl and getting a plate for the stir fry he settles in the living room. He has a perfectly good table he could eat at in the kitchen, but there’s something satisfying in breaking the rules and eating on the couch. Out in the open, casually. He hasn’t lived with his father since he was a first year, but he still takes satisfaction in all the ways he can defy him and the rules he kept in that house.
Shouto turns on the local news channel to watch while he eats. Unsurprisingly, the attack from last night is still the focus of the station. There’s a reporter discussing the widespread damage through downtown on the screen. In the background, heroes and clean up crews are still working to clear the rubble. Shouto recognizes Uravity’s bright pink costume amongst all the grey and black. She’s moving two giant pieces of concrete overhead, some kind of broken metal rods coming from one look particularly dangerous.
A scrolling banner runs across the bottom of the broadcast, asking anyone who might have information about the villains to call in to a hotline, and a separate call for anyone with quirks that might help in fixing the damage done to the roads. There are also short headlines for stories meant to air later that night and a small graphic with the weather.
The camera view changes suddenly and the report comes back into view with a police officer, answering questions about the attack.
What did they know about it? Not much yet, but they don’t think it was random.
Was anyone seriously injured? Thankfully most casualties were only minor injuries and the paramedics on scene took care of most of the civilians who were hurt.
Who were the villains? No one in particular. They don’t think this is an organized group starting attacks. Not like in the past. No one needs to worry.
All safe answers that tell them basically nothing about what happened. Shouto learned more in the two minutes he spent on the radio before pursuing the villain than the news report. He changes the channel. A talk show re-run is showing an old interview with Hawks. Shouto hesitates changing the channel again.
“So, Hawks, it’s no secret that you’ve been a fan of Endeavor’s basically since your debut, and the two of you made a good team as Number 1 and 2 for a while,” the interviewer says in a fake cheerful voice. Hawks gives a stiff smile, placating but revealing nothing about how he actually feels about the subject. “What are your thoughts on the rumors brewing about a civil trial after the allegations against Endeavor from his family?”
‘Tis the season.
Shouto clicks the TV off before Hawks can reply.
Not hungry anymore, Shouto puts his plate down. He ate most of what he had taken anyways. The rest will be fine for leftovers.
Getting up from the couch, Shouto goes back to the kitchen for his phone. The same ignored email is still waiting for him with that mocking, blinking notification light. Taking a deep breath, as if preparing for a fight, he opens it.
Entropy,
I hope you are doing better after Dr. Aizawa’s visit with you at the hospital. Sorry I couldn’t see you off. Here is the list of possible topics we discussed the other day. This is just an abbreviated list of some basic things to talk about. You can obviously go into more detail about anything that might interest you or that you think might be important information for anyone with two or dual quirks to consider.
Thank you for considering being a part of the Hero Talks Series.
Thank you, also, for your help with the attacks last night and with Kou.
Midoriya
Shouto isn’t sure what to focus on first. The dropped title from the professor’s name? Midoriya thanking him for doing his job of all things?
Making the executive decision to focus on none of them for the time being, Shouto opens the attached document with the lecture topics. Dr. Midoriya’s “abbreviated list" is still two pages long.
Somehow, it’s exactly what Shouto was expecting.

Diabolik Lovers LUNATIC PARADE ;; Kou Route ー Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Monologue
ーー After parting ways with those children,
Kou-kun and I decided,
that we would go meet up with that company president.
ー The scene starts on Saint Nore Park’s venue
Yui: Um, I’m pretty sure it should be somewhere around here...
Kou: Let me seeー...
???: Haah...What will become of this year’s Parade? ...At this rate...
Kou: Huh? This voice...
Company President: ...Hm? Over there, is that...?
Yui: Mr. President! We were looking for you!
Company President: Eh!?
ー The CEO runs up to them
Company President: Haah, haah...Phew...What do you mean, you were looking for me...?
Kou: About the Finale. I guess I wouldn’t mind performing.
Company President: A-Are you sure!?
Kou: Otherwise I wouldn’t offer.
Company President: ...Aah...What a relief! Thank you so much!!
Actually, we’ve had our agency call up a few performers ever since, but they just don’t make the cut...
I was just scratching my head, thinking about how this year’s Finale might just make the history books as the worst one ever.
However, if you will take the stage, then I’m convinced it will be the best Finale we could ever wish for!
Kou: ーー However!
I do have one condition.
Company President: Which would be...?
Kou: If I’m going to do this, I want it to be a flawless performance.
I want you to ensure that my outfit, the production and the stage itself are all honed to perfection.
Company President: Understood!
You can ask for anything! I will arrange it immediately! This is where I get to shine after all!
Yui: ( S-Such determination. I guess the Parade must be very dear to the President’s heart as well. )
Kou: ...Also...
I actually have just one more request.
Company President: Yes?
Kou: Listen, I want you to make a few VIP seats for the performance.
There’s a couple of people I’d like to give a special invitation after all.
Yui: ( He’s talking about the Vampire children, right? )
Company President: That will be a piece of cake.
Well then, I will start arranging everything right away.
Kou: Thanks! I’m counting on you!
Company President: If you’d excuse me then! Aah, no moment of rest for a busy man!
ー The CEO runs off
Kou: Phew...
I guess now I’ll just have to give it my best shot as well.
M-neko-chan, will you cheer me on?
Yui: Of course!
If there’s anything I can do, feel free to ask.
Kou: Then...Why don’t we go scout out the venue?
I want to think about what kind of live I want it to be.
Yui: Sure. Let’s go then.
*SCENE SHIFT*
Yui: ( So this is where the performance will take place... )
Kou: I’m pretty sure they’ll build a special stage here.
In which case, I guess the lights will hit me from that angle. I think there’s potential for quite the extravagant show.
Then the seats will go here, and...
Yui: ( As to be expected of Kou-kun. He’s used to performing, so I can already imagine how everything will look. )
*Rustle rustle*
Kou: Why are you spacing out?
Yui: Ah...Whoops.
I was just impressed by your ability to figure everything out.
Not that I expected any less...
Kou: Did you fall for me all over again?
Yui: T-That’s, well...
Selection
→ That’s a secret!
Yui: That’s a secret!
Kou: Boohー
Yui: ( He got upset. )
→ Yeah (☾)
Yui: ...Yeah.
Kou: ...W-What has gotten into you? You’re catching me off guard.
Yui: ( I-I tried to be genuine but Kou-kun flushed bright red... )
Kou: Phew...
Yui: ( I think I just witnessed a rare sight? )
Kou: ーー Anyway!
I think this should do for the initial look at the area.
Next up I have to come up with a concrete time schedule.
Shall we head back to the hotel for now?
Yui: Sure.
*SCENE SHIFT*
Female Vampire A: Have you heard the news yet!? Kou-kun will perform on stage during this year’s final act!
Female Vampire B: Of course I have! Aah, I can hardly wait!
Yui: ( Wow, people are already talking about it. He really is very popular. )
Kou: Seems like that CEO hasn’t skimped out on the advertising.
Yui: Yeah.
I guess you must be a little nervous too?
Kou: No way. I’m just super excited.
Yui: ( Amazing...I better try my best to help him where I can. )
Monologue
We returned to the hotel,
to work out a program,
for the performance.
“What can we do,
to please the audience?”
“How to ensure,
that as many people as possible can enjoy it?”
We sat down together,
and continued to discuss these issuesーー
*Scribble scribble*
Kou: Hmー... I do think we should start things off with an upbeat song.
Then we can throw in a ballade or two...
Yui: Good idea.
Actually, why don’t we try swapping the order of these songs around? Like this...
*Scribble scribble*
Kou: Aah...Nice thinking. Actually, it might not be a bad idea to add a dance number in between as well...
*Scribble scribble*
*TIMESKIP*
Kou: ーー We’re done!
*Flip*
Yui: You’re all set now.
Kou: Yeah!
ーー Or that’s what I’d like to say at least, but we’ve yet to tackle the most important thing.
Yui: Which is...?
Kou: I have to warm up to ensure I can give my best performance ever at this ultimate event!
There’s a dance number as well, so I want to decide on my steps beforehand.
However, I can’t do it in a place as crowded as this. We’ll get complaints from the other guests.
Isn’t there a good place to practice...? Someplace well hidden and out of sight...
Yui: How about a back alley? It’d be quiet over there, no?
Kou: Ah, you do make a point. That’s a great idea, M-neko-chan.
Let’s go right away.
Yui: Yeah.
*TIMESKIP*
ー The scene shifts to Aizen Alley
Kou: It really is quiet here. It might be the perfect practice spot.
Okay, let’s see...Guess I’ll start with the dance practice.
Phewー...
Yui: ( If I stay here, I’ll be a distraction to him, right? )
Hey, Kou-kun. I’ll return to the hotel for now.
Kou: Eeh? Why? No way.
Yui: B-But...We came here so there wouldn’t be anyone around, so I’ll only distract you, right?
Kou: Geezー... You really don’t get it.
*Rustle rustle*
Kou: I’d obviously feel more motivated if you’re here to watch me?
So don’t talk about going back but stay here with me, okay?
Yui: Are you sure?
Kou: Or rather, I want you to be here.
Yui: In that case...Okay.
Then isn’t there something I can do to help you at least? I’ll do anything.
Kou: Anything? Then...
Yui: ( I wonder why he’s pointing to his own cheek? )
Kou: Come on, hurry.
Yui: H-Hurry and do what...?
Kou: A ‘good luck kiss’, obviously?
Come on already! We don’t have much time so make haste! Hurry!
Yui: Eh? S-Sure...!
( I feel as if I got talked into this but if that’s what he wantsーー )
Then...
*Smooch*
Kou: Fufu, thanks! Well thenーー
...Mm...
*Smooch*
Kou: A kiss in return so we can both try our hardest together.
Yui: ( I’m happy, but it’s also a little embarrassing... )
Kou: Huh? You’re red all the way to your ears.
Should I carry you back to the hotel in my arms?
Ah, or should I kiss your forehead first to check if you have a fever? Say?
Yui: Geez, don’t tease me.
Kou: It’s your fault for being so cute, it tempts me to mess with you. Fufu...
ー He steps back
Kou: ーー Anyway.
I better start practicing soon.
Kou: M-neko-chan, could you set the rhythm for me by clapping your hands to the beat?
Yui: Sure, gotcha.
*Clap clap clap*
Yui: Will this do?
Kou: Okayー Well then...Here I goーー
Monologue
Seeing Kou-kun take the whole thing so seriously,
made me feel as if this performance would undoubtedly,
become the best one ever seen.
At the same time,
I felt a sense of pride,
knowing that I was the one,
allowed to spend more time with him than anyone else.
While those thoughts took over my mind,
time just flew byーー
*Clap clap clap*
Kou: Haah, haah, haah...
I pulled it off pretty okay. Phew...
Yui: Good job, Kou-kun. It was so good, it felt like I was already watching the real performance.
Kou: Really? I might have been able to do even better than I thought because you were watching me.
But this was nothing compared to what the final show will be like, you know?
I’ll pull off an even better performance so please look forward to that, okay?
Yui: Fufu, I know.
Ah, I’m pretty sure the stage should be about ready by now, so why don’t we go take a look?
Kou: Good idea. Then I’ll just have to finalize everything inside my head and wait until I’m ready to climb the staーー
Company President: Aah! So this is where you’ve been!
ー The CEO runs up to them
Yui: ...? W-What’s wrong? Why the hurry...?
Company President: Actually...You see...I ran into a bit of trouble...
Kou: Trouble? Is there an issue with the stage?
Company President: No! That one is perfect but, you see...
The substitute entertainers I had asked to perform during the Finale no longer want to back down now...
They’ve claimed the perfect stage we finished building.
Yui: Eeh...?
Company President: B-But please rest assured! I will have them removed with force if needed...!
Kou: ...
Company President: U-Um...You won’t change your mind now, will you...?
Kou: ...But.
I have to agree that those people deserve to stand on that stage. We’re the ones who changed the plans afterwards.
Company President: ...!? B-But...
In that case, you will have nowhere to perform.
Even if we try to set up a different stage somewhere else, there’s already events being held all across the venue, so there’s no place left...
Kou: ...
Yui: ( What now...? I want to do something about this so we can keep our promise with those kids... )
*TIMESKIP*
ー The scene shifts to Glimmer Main Street
Yui: ( Isn’t there a good place anywhere...? )
ー She looks around various locations
Yui: ...
( This is where you can board a gondola... )
( ...Ah...! )
The gondolas!
Kou: G-Gondola?
Yui: Exactly! The gondolas! Let’s go...!
*Rustle*
Kou: Eh? M-neko-chan!? Wah!
ー Yui drags him along
Company President: W-Wait!
ー The scene shifts to Rubien Canal
Kou: Haah, haah...W-What has gotten into you all of a sudden...? What’s there to see here?
Yui: ーー Look. I believe we could build a stage on top of the canal.
Kou: ...Ah...
Company President: Eeh!?
What are you saying? How would we...?
Yui: The gondolas.
We’ll anchor a large gondola and hold the performance on top of it.
Company President: Wha...? We won’t be able to hold a performance on such a rushed, unstable stage.
Especially not on top of the water...
Kou: ...No...
I believe it’s a genius idea, M-neko-chan!
Yui: Kou-kun...
Kou: ...I mean...The lights would reflect on the surface of the water as well...I’m sure it’ll look stunning.
So much so I wish we would have built the stage here from the very beginning!
That being said, I’d like to request this location too.
Company President: Y-You too...
...Fine! I will make it happen somehow!
Yui: T-Thank you very much!
Kou: We did it, M-neko-chan! I’m counting on you, Mr. CEO.
Company President: Yes. With that settled, there are many things I must do!
Also...There is one thing I’d like to ask.
ーー Miss Manager.
Yui: Y-Yes!?
Company President: Now that we have moved the live to a different location, we will have to escort the audience this way.
Could I ask you to lend me a hand...?
Yui: Of course. I’d be happy to help!
Kou: I’ll help out too. I want to gather as many people as possible after all.
Company President: You two...
I will do everything I can as well!! Let’s make this the best live ever!!
Yui: Yes!
Kou: Of course!
*TIMESKIP*
ー The scene shifts to Glimmer Main Street
*Flip*
Yui: Here you go! The announcement for the Finale’s special live!
*Flip flip*
Kou: I’m counting on your support!
*Flip flip*
Female Vampire A: Kyaah! Kou-kun in the flesh!?
Kou: Exactlyー! I’m super excited about this live, so I want you all to be there!
Female Vampire B: Yes! We’ll definitely go!
Kou: Really? I’m so happy!
Yui: ( Kou-kun is really killing it. I better try my best too! )
Please come and watch!
*Flip flip*
*TIMESKIP*
Kou: Phew...We finished handing out all flyers in no time.
Which means...Now we just have to rest up a little before the live starts, I guess.
Yui: Yup.
Ah, also...I heard they managed to arrange the special seats for the children.
Kou: Really? I’m glad! We can keep our promise then.
Yui: Yeahーー
ー The crowd grows restless
Yui: ( Hm? I wonder what’s going on...? )
Kou: It’s coming from the gondola boarding dock.
...Something might have happened. Let’s go take a look.
Yui: Y-Yeah...
( Everything seemed to be going well but for some reason...I feel restless... )
ー They rush towards the boarding dock
Company President: C-Come again!?
Yui: M-Mister President! What happened this time?
Company President: W...Well...I got a call just earlier and...
I was told that the gondola I had arranged will be arriving quite a bit later than scheduled...
Yui: Eeh...!? You think it won’t get here in time for the live...?
Company President: ...Yes...
Kou: Wahー ...This is bad.
Company President: I once again asked them to try everything they could to make it here on time but...I’m afraid we have no other choice but to wait a bit longer.
Yui: ( If it doesn’t arrive on time... )
Kou: I guess we’re out of options, huh?
Female Vampire A: It’s been a while since I’ve seen Kou-kun perform so I’m super excited!
Female Vampire B: I can barely wait any longer.
Female Vampire C: Gosh~! I’m super duper excited! Wait for me, Kou-kuuun!!
Yui: Oh no, the audience has started gathering as well...!
Kou: Looks like it...
...Ugh...
Yui: ( Aah...Do we really have no other choice but to give up? )
Kou: ...At this rate, I’ll just perform without a staーー
Resident of the Underground: Ooiー! I’ve fetched you a gondola!
Kou: Ah...!
Yui: That guy is...
Resident of the Underground: Sorry for the wait! Here!
Yui: T-Thank you so much! We can use this as a stage for the Parade’s Finale!
Resident of the Underground: It’s fine. But well, in exchange...
Please show me the best live of my life!
Kou: ...!
Of course! Leave it to me!
Company President: I-I’m so glad you made it on time somehow...!
ー The crowd cheers
Company President: Well then, Kou-san! Please get on stage! Everyone is waiting!
Kou: I know. I’ll go! ーー But before that.
*Rustle rustle*
Kou: Nn...
*Smooch*
Yui: ( He kissed my forehead...! )
Kou: ーー ‘Off I go kiss’, check!
Cheer me on, okay, M-neko-chan?
ー Kou runs off
Yui: ( Break a leg, Kou-kun...! )
Female Vampire A: Kyaahー!!
Female Vampire B: Kou-kuuuun!!
Female Vampire C: Look over here~!!
Tumblr media
Kou: Thanks for coming everyone! I missed you so much!
...Muah~!
Yui: ( Wow. All it took was one gesture for the whole audience to become united... )
Tumblr media
Yui: ( Ah...! There’s lanterns floating in the sky...How pretty. )
( Kou-kun can see them as well, right? )
Kou: ...Aah, right, right! I actually called over a special guest today!
Say hello toーー
*Rustle rustle*
Kou: This girl!
Tumblr media
Yui: Wait, Kou-kun!?
Kou: Shー...I’ll just say you’re a less experienced idol from my agency.
Yui: ( Eeh!? )
Kou: I mean, I wanted to show you the view from up here as well.
Let’s engrave it into our memories, okay, M-neko-chan?
Look at the sky. Isn’t it pretty? It’d be sad if we couldn’t witness this together...
Yui: Geez...
( Aah, I’m just no match for him... )
*TIMESKIP*
Company President: Geezー! That was a great success!
Although I was holding my breath for a second...
I believe it was the best Parade ever!
Thank you...from the bottom of my heart.
Kou: It was my pleasure. Everything down to the production was absolutely flawless. I rarely ever get to perform under such great conditions.
Company President: T-That is an honor to hear!
Ah, right!
We’ll be holding a celebration party afterwards and it’d be lovely if you could come as well. Of course, your Manager is welcome too.
Yui: Ah...Y-Yes!
...He continued to mistake me for your Manager till the very end...
Kou: I don’t see the problem? Let’s just say that Mukami Kou has the cutest Manager in the whole wide world.
Yui: Gosh!
Kou: Fufu, don’t get maーー
*Clap clap clap*
Yui: ...!?
Kou: ...Who’s there...?
???: It is I, Walter.
Count Walter: I watched every single of your endeavors. And thereforeーー
ーー I have acknowledged the both of you as worthy of a treasure.
Kou: T-Then...!
Count Walter: Allow me to return this heart and eye to where they truly belongーー
*WOOSH*
Yui: ( T-The light’s blinding...! )
Kou: Yui!
Yui: Kou-kunーー
*WOOSH*
*TIMESKIP*
*Rustle rustle*
???: ...ke ...up! ーー chan!
Yui: ( ...Kou-kun...? )
*Rustle rustle*
Yui: ...Nn...
ー Yui wakes up in the hotel room
Kou: Aah, thank god...
Yui: ...Kou-kun...? ...Your eye...?
Kou: I got it back just like the Count promised. More importantly!
How about your heart? Can you tell if it’s back? I can smell the scent of your blood but...
What do you think...?
Yui: ( My heart is... )
*Ba-dump・ba-dump*
Yui: ...It’s back!
Kou: Aah...I’m so glad!
*Rustle*
Yui: ( Wah, he hugged me... )
Kou: Now I no longer have to worry about losing you.
I truly am...so relieved...!
I will make sure...you never have to go through something like this again, so...
Monologue
Kou-kun,
holds me in his arms.
It’s vague,
but I could most definitely,
feel his warmth.
As I felt a sense of relief well up,
from the very bottom of my heart.
Only now I start to shiver,
as I realize that I would have never been able to experience this moment,
if I hadn’t gotten my heart back.
However, the two of us carved out a path to our happy future,
with our very own hands.
And thenーー
ーー TO BE CONTINUED ーー
