She should’ve known better. She should’ve known that when he pulled that stunt at the Great Hall, proclaiming his feelings and just how desperate he’s been to get her attention, that it was only a projection of the words he wanted to confess to another. She should’ve known that when he looked at her with those eyes that were filled with love, it would never compare to the affection he hoards for another. She should’ve known that with every promise, every sweet nonsense he whispered to her ears, they were truly addressed for another.
The signs were laid bare for her to see. From the way he stopped holding her hands in the hallway to making up excuses and cancelling their dates. His kisses have turned into quick pecks before they’re gone altogether. The jokes he used to share have stopped coming. Dissipating into thin air with no warning.
Supposedly it was her fault. She should’ve said something, calling him out from the lack of effort he’s been showing but she knew she was pulling on a thin thread. Their relationship has always been based on a frail foundation. She knew that deep down there was no other woman that could topple his first love, so she kept quiet. Crying herself to sleep and praying to whoever might listen out there to help salvage their relationship. Anything to keep him just a little bit longer.
“Love, you left your hair tie in my room,” James says once he takes a seat, busying himself with the stack of pancakes in front of him.
She takes the unassuming item and examines it. This hair tie wasn’t hers. She doesn’t have bright orange hair ties, “This isn’t mine, James.”
“Oh,” He responded, taking the item and placing it in his pocket nonchalantly “Must be Lily’s then.”
“Lily?”
“Yeah, we had an impromptu study session last night after our rounds. She helped me with my potion essays.”
“But we promised to do that essay together,” She says, forcing a smile as she tries her best to conceal her disappointment and heartbreak “I waited for you to have some free time so we can work on it together.”
“Yes well, like I said, it was an impromptu session. We finished our rounds earlier than expected so we figured we could use the free time to do the assignment.” He explained, still oblivious to the harm done to her heart “Shouldn’t you be proud I’ve finally managed to finish an assignment earlier than due? This is a huge improvement for me, don’t you think?”
Her head nods, another pretend smile decorating her face. James looks happy and proud of his achievement. It was true. When else would you find James Potter diligently working his schoolwork? He’s always been one of those students who waits for the adrenaline rush of working everything at the last minute. He’s brilliant, perhaps too brilliant to ever spare an hour in revising his notes and making flashcards for the upcoming exams, so this certainly is a huge improvement to celebrate for. If only it wasn’t because of Lily.
“You’ve been spending more time with Lily, lately.” She points out. Her hands were shaking, knowing that the pool she’s stepping in might be deeper than it seems and she might not know how to swim to the shore but she needed to start somewhere. She needs to save their relationship somehow.
James’ brows furrow, a slight sign of disagreement, “Not really. Our rounds just happened to be scheduled together a lot this month.”
“Well, you also cancelled our study date last week for her.”
“Yeah, that’s because she needed my help with Divination.”
A rude laughter escapes her, “You’re the worst from our House in Divination, James. She doesn’t need your help.”
“Where are you going with this?” He finally snaps, turning to face her with evident annoyance in his eyes “I thought you would be happy with me finally trying to fix my grades.”
“I am. I just didn’t realise that needed to be done by increasing the amount of time you share with your ex-crush.”
“Oh, so you’re jealous?”
She was quiet now. Sure it was jealousy that plagued her mind the first time he began drifting away but these days, these days she’s only been insecure and worried for their sinking ship. Anxiety over the chance of her being replaced by someone who has always had his heart has been haunting her nights. As gracious and angelic Lily Evans is, she couldn’t help but to see her as some villain who might steal him away.
“You’re being paranoid, again.” James scoffs, turning completely blind and deaf to her silent agony “There’s nothing going on between me and Lily. I’m trying to fix my grades for me. She just happens to be a great teacher and companion to help me study.”
She's still quiet, weighing if she should believe his words.
"Please, I don't want to fight," James sighs, dropping the fork on his hand and taking hers to show his sincerity "She's just a friend, I promise."
There was truly nothing left for her to say that wouldn’t act as petrol to their burning bridge. James wasn’t listening. For a while now he hasn’t truly cared about a word she’s said and it was painful to finally understand this. That he might never have been as sincere as she thought him to be. Or perhaps he did, once, yet that feeling has died a long time ago with no chance of revival. His feelings for her have withered, faded into nothingness.
And it’s only a matter of time before the flame in her heart dies too.
—-
It was a nasty fall.
She couldn’t remember the last time she felt this much worry and cried so much from something Madam Promfrey claims as ‘nothing but a light nudge on the head’, but she was there when the bludger hit his head. She was there when James began losing balance of his broom and falling to the hard ground. She was there when the team crowd around their passed out captain.
Her eyes were getting heavy now. The watch on her wrist has shown that she has skipped dinner a few hours ago. Some of the lights on the hospital wing have been turned off, making the hall darker as night falls deeper. If it wasn’t for the boys coming to visit James half an hour ago, she would be left starving and secretly creeped out by the eerie feeling of the infirmary.
“You should get some rest, Love, you’ve been waiting here for hours.” Remus advises, giving her shoulder a slight squeeze.
“He should be up anytime soon, now,” She reasoned as she looked up to see the tall boy “I want to be there when he wakes up.”
“Trust me, Dove, knowing Prongs, he might just sleep in till tomorrow,” Sirius added “Besides, you won’t miss a thing. He’ll still be the same obnoxious Potter tomorrow morning.”
A small curl of smile tugs on her lips.
“Come on, I’ll walk you back to your dorm.” Peter offers this time.
“You don’t have to, Wormy. I’m fine—”
“Dove, please,” Sirius begs “You look awful. And I mean this in the most endearing way but you could really use a bath.”
“Thank you, Pads,” She rolls her eyes, finally standing from her seat and glaring at the raven haired boy “Your honesty is always something I could count on, even in the darkest time.”
Sirius grins, nodding, “I am a man of honour.”
“Let me know if anything happens? If he wakes up?”
“We will,” Remus reassures “Goodnight, Love.”
With a last bid of hug and ignoring the still awful churning feeling in her gut, she links arm with Peter and walks out of the hospital wing. It’s been hours since she’s waited for her boyfriend to wake up from his sleep and the fatigue plaguing her body has only been recognised as she takes further steps away from the infirmary. Perhaps the worry has amplified the soreness of her muscles. It’s never an easy life dating the Captain of Gryffindor team.
She hates to admit it, but she might really need that bath Sirius was talking about.
And just when they were about to exit the tower, her brain reminded her of her left satchel, “Shoot, I forgot something.” She groans, letting out a frustrated sigh “Give me ten minutes?”
“Is it that important?” Peter asks “We can just bring it to you later.”
“I’ll be quick, I promise. I have to finish my paper for the first period tomorrow, I need to get my satchel.”
Peter only nods at her as she begins running back to the ward. Truth be told, she’s finished the paper as she waited for James earlier. Leaving her satchel was completely by accident and she could’ve just continued walking back to her dormitory and ask the boys to bring it to her later, but why would she pass up a chance to see her boyfriend one last time?
“So did she come?”
A smile blooms on her face as she hears James’ voice echoes faintly. He’s up.
“Of course she did, she waited for you for hours.” Sirius answers “She’s your girlfriend, Prongs, she never left.”
“Oh,” James answered, the disappointment dripping from his tone slows down her steps “I was asking about Lily, actually.”
There was a pause. She could see Sirius and Remus exchanging a glance from behind their backs. If it wasn’t for the curtain blocking James’ view, he would’ve seen her coming.
“So did she come?” James asks again.
“No, Prongs. Why would she come?” Remus asks, his tone slightly rising in annoyance.
“I don’t know,” James answers “I thought we were getting closer. I just figured she’d want to check on me.”
“Well, she didn’t,” Sirius says this time, the same level of irritation evident in his tone “Why are you even thinking of her? You have a brilliant girlfriend who cares for you. Who literally spent hours sitting on that awful chair, worried about your bonked head, and the first thing you asked about when you woke up was Lily?”
“It was just a question, Pads. No need to get all worked up on me.”
“Well, your question is rubbish, Prongs.”
“Why are you—”
“Hey guys,” She says, finally showing herself from behind the curtain “Sorry, I left my satchel. Oh, hello James, you finally woke up.”
She could see the surprise on James’ eyes that he quickly blinked away with a sweet smile, “Hello, Darling.”
“I’m glad you’re up. Are you feeling okay?”
“Still dizzy, but I’ll live.” He says warmly “Will you stay with me tonight?”
“Uh, no, I need to finish my papers.” She says instead, fighting the loud ringing in her ears from the heartache “Besides, you need all the rest you could get. I wouldn’t want to bother you.”
“But you wouldn’t—”
“I really need to go. Peter is waiting for me,” She cuts in “Good night, James.”
She glances at Remus and Sirius for a brief moment. Staring at them for too long would make all the dam she’s trying to uphold break lose and the last thing she’d want to do tonight would be to cry in front of James. No, she would not give him that satisfaction. It is one thing to deny and avoid all of her questions and another to actually dismiss her presence. Perhaps it's time for her to accept that the heart James wears on his sleeve was never hers to begin with.
As she walks out of the infirmary for the second time tonight, she could hear Sirius’ curse faintly, “You’ve lost her for good now, Prongs.”

Hi!!! I saw you did a poly!marauders with a plus!dive reader who’s insecure…
Can you write one where the reader is shying away from intimacy with the boys because they’re insecure and feeling ick about their body? Like not just sex but also physical touch like hugs or especially sitting on their laps? It can include smut too if you’d like!
I’m feeling pretty ick about my size rn and the fix really helped me! Thank u sm for your writing
Thanks sm for requesting lovely! I hope you start to feel better soon <33
cw: insecurity around size/weight, talk of traditional beauty standards
poly!marauders x plus size!reader ♡ 1.3k words
The funny thing is, the boys have been wearing away at your instincts for months. It’s no conscious effort for them, but for you it’s impossible not to notice. Before you got together, you’d been used to shying away from nearly every touch. You rarely hugged anyone, kissed only chastely, and shunned most physical intimacy. But though they’ve gone about it in a gentlemanly way, never putting pressure on you, your boyfriends have slowly changed that. Now hardly a day goes by without James having had his arm around your waist, Remus raking casual touches up your leg, or Sirius turning a kiss into a feely makeout.
Unfortunately, you still have your bad days. Earlier this week you’d looked too long into the mirror, and of course found a dozen things to hate about your body, and hadn’t wanted any of the boys to touch you since. When Sirius’ hand had smoothed over your lower back yesterday, skimming the rolls of fat at your sides, you’d almost thought you’d be sick before you could get away from him. You couldn’t stop thinking about what he’d feel there, what he’d think of you when he did. You’re not stupid; you know your boyfriends can see you, but touching is something different. What they probably want to feel isn’t what you have to offer, perfectly smooth skin and sloping, gentle curves. It sometimes feels like you’re keeping the secret of your true form from them, and if they discover it they’ll see you the same way you do.
“So, what’s the big secret?” Sirius asks as you come into the common room. All three boys are tangled up on the couch, and the other two turn to look when he calls out to you.
You give him a bemused sort of smile, perching on the armrest next to James. Careful not to put much of your weight on it. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t play coy.” Sirius narrows his eyes at you playfully. “I saw you whispering with Evans earlier, glancing at us all mischievously. What’re you two up to?”
You have to bite down on your smile. Sirius’ birthday is coming up, and you and Lily are in charge of his surprise party plans. James and Remus are involved too, of course, but it’s far easier for you and Lily to speak about it in your dorm at night, whereas your boyfriends hardly get any time apart to partake in secret plans.
“Oh,” you say breezily, “that was nothing. She was asking if we’re going to hogsmeade tomorrow. I told her we are.”
James smiles at you conspiratorially, bringing a hand to your thigh and rubbing up and down in silent support. You almost have a heart attack. You place your hand hastily atop his, intertwining your fingers as cover for your panicked response. James doesn’t seem unhappy with the change, resting his head against your arm as he strokes his thumb across the back of your hand.
“Should we make it a study session in hogsmeade?” Remus asks, neatly keeping the subject away from Sirius’ party. “We’ve all got that potions paper due Monday.”
“I’ve finished,” you admit, “but I’m still open to studying if you guys want to.”
Remus rewards you with a smile as Sirius rolls his eyes good-naturedly. “Show-off,” he mutters.
“Shut up, Pads,” James says, always looking for any opportunity to take your side over Sirius’. He grabs your waist before you can stop him, tugging you off the armrest.
No sooner do you land on his lap than you’re springing to your feet. “James!” you cry, batting at his hands when they reach to pull you back. “You can’t just do that, I’ll crush you!”
Thick eyebrows fly up past the rims of James’ glasses and disappear behind his curls. “I’m sorry,” he says, in a tone that clearly means the opposite, “do you really think I’m so weak that I’ll crumble from you sitting on my lap?”
“It’s not—”
“Fucking hell,” Sirius cuts in, looking horrified, “if you think James can’t handle you, what do you think of Remus and I?”
“I’ll bench press you right now,” James insists, trying to push the other boys aside so he has room to lay down. “Come here, lovie, we’ll see who’s weak.”
The laugh that emerges from your throat borders on hysterical. “I wasn’t trying to say that anyone here was weak, okay? I just…” There’s no good way to phrase that last part, and you think for a moment to simply leave it there, but Remus leans forward, setting his elbows on his knees with an expression that clearly reads go on. “I know I’m not, like, a tiny delicate bird,” you laugh, aiming for flippancy.
No one laughs with you.
“But I don’t need any of you to respond to that,” you hurry to say. “I know it’s a weird subject, and there’s, like, no right way, really, to…to respond.” You trail off dumbly, wishing desperately that you’d never broached the subject in the first place.
After a moment of silence, you chance a glance up, but one look at Sirius’ visage, bordering on outraged, has your gaze defaulting back to your lap. “Sorry,” you say in a small voice. “Can we forget about it?”
“That’s alright, love.” Remus' voice is dulcet, so low you would never normally have heard him if the other two boys weren’t so uncharacteristically silent. “Listen, we don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to, but can I just say something?”
You look up to nod at him, finding his countenance equal parts troubled and patient. His mouth is pursed like he’s worried that if he’s not careful, the wrong words will come flying out. At your nod of assent, he speaks, clearly and firmly.
“I don’t want you to look like a bird.”
You almost laugh again, it’s such an absurd declaration, but Remus’ expression is serious. “You know what I mean, though,” you say, lifting a shoulder like this conversation is nothing to you. “I know what guys want. I’m not that.”
“Bullshit,” Sirius says, and Remus’ lips twitch upward at your boyfriend’s brash tongue. “You’re just gonna lump us in with all guys? Do all girls want the exact same thing too?” You go to protest, but he talks over you, fuming. “Golden boys, tall with blond hair, blue eyes, and an eight-pack of abs, right? Is that what you wish we looked like?”
“Of course not.” You’re tripping over yourself in your denial. “I wouldn’t—I don’t want you to look any other way.”
“But you can see his point, can’t you?” Remus asks gently. “If we each only liked what we’re told is most attractive, a face full of scars probably wouldn’t be on the top of that list.” You must look as devastated as you feel, because Remus’ lips pull up in a reassuring half-smile, the long scar across his cheek flashing silver with the movement. “Does that matter to you?”
Your voice is quiet; chastened, but ardent. “No. Not at all.”
“So perhaps you can imagine,” James says, raising his eyebrows at you teasingly, “how if you can look at us and find things to love, we can do the same with you.” You gnaw on your lip, and his brows come slowly back down.
“Don’t,” Sirius says sternly. “Stop thinking whatever you’re thinking. You’re gorgeous, and we like you like this.” His eyes bore into yours, insistent. “You can’t make our decisions for us about which parts of you we’re allowed to like, understand?”
James nods, extending his hands to you. “Would you come sit with me, angel? Only if you want to, of course,” he adds at your hesitance, “but please don’t refrain because you’re worried about anything to do with me.”
You give him an assessing look. “Alright,” you say, perching on his lap. “Just tell me if you want me to get off.”
“Will do, darling.” James grips the fat of your hips, hauling you onto him so that your feet leave the floor and your full weight is on him. “Not much danger of that, though.”
“Honestly,” Remus hums, pulling your legs across his lap so that you’re sitting sideways on James, “the day one of us says we want you to look more like a bird, run, sweetheart. Someone’s using polyjuice or something.”

"She's cute, right?" James asks.
He's staring across the room.
Sirius moves his knight on the chess board and follows James' gaze. He laughs when he sees the red-head Lily Evans chatting with her friends on the other side of their common room.
"What?" James asks.
Sirius glances at him.
They're thirteen and it's the first time James really talks about girls. And even if girls and dates and kisses are new and not particularly something Sirius is interested in, he knows the rules. He was taught before he even understood what dating a girl meant.
"She's a Muggleborn," Sirius shrugs as he states the obvious.
"So?"
There's defiance in James voice, it reminds Sirius of the times he used to refer the likes of Lily Evans with much worse vocabulary. It was James and their friends to make him change his ways.
Sirius sighs.
"It's fine by me," he says, honestly. "But I doubt your parents would approve."
James frowns. At first Sirius thinks he's acknowledged the problem and trying to come up with a way to pursuit his crush without his parents ever finding out. And really, how could they, James doesn't have cousins to tell on him.
But it's not that. James looks at him the way he does when he's trying to read deep into his mind. Like James did when they had their first discussions about blood supremacy. Or when Sirius was walking funny after last summer break. He had hurt his back falling down the stairs after an argument with his mother, but that wasn't the sort of thing to discuss with... Anyone really.
James' expression clears, he leans back and makes his move on the chess board.
"Your parents want you to marry a pureblood," James states.
Sirius shrugs.
"Of course. Yours don't?"
"Dad would probably prefer if I'd marry a Muggleborn. She could teach him how to use the Muggle box he bought for warming up food," James says.
Sirius stares at him, and it has nothing to do with the said Muggle device. He'd look more surprised, but he learned to hide his feelings years ago.
He knows James' family thinks Muggleborns can do anything a pureblood can. But it's one thing to treat people equally on the streets, another to break something as holy as the pure bloodline.
Sirius had thought marrying a pureblood was given, a duty, a fact, something every pureblood did. But here he is, looking at the heir of the Potter family - an heir who clearly doesn't follow any of the rules Sirius had been taught since the day he was born.
As Sirius looks at James, he realises it looks like freedom. Not that Sirius even really cares about girls and marriage, but for the first time he sees that James truly has everything. Money, brains, parents who send him sweets and chocolate even when he doesn't ask for it. But more than that, James has options. He can choose his future.
"Are you ok?" James asks bringing Sirius back from his thoughts.
"Yeah." He answers before focusing on the chess board again. "But if I have to marry someone like Carrow and you get to choose, the least you can do is to lose the game!"
His knight eats James' horse.
"Hey, it's not that bad." James says comfortingly and moves his queen out of the way. Then he grins and Sirius knows he's up to no good.
"You can choose too. If you don't want Carrow you can always take one of your cousins," James suggests as sincerely as a mischievous pre-teen can.
The sofa cushion hits James before he has time to dodge, and then the chess pieces fly around as Sirius reaches over the sofa table to James.
When Remus Lupin descends to the Gryffindor common room a few minutes later, his two friends are a messy, wrestling and laughing pile of loosened ties and wrinkled ropes on the floor.
He shakes his head and sits on the sofa after removing a few misplaced chess pieces. He takes a fat book out of his bag and continues his day as if two wrestling thirteen-year-olds in his feet were nothing but an ordinary day.
As he reads Sirius launches from the floor to find a safe haven next to him - James knows better than to bother his reading. When the long haired boy leans his head against Remus' shoulder and shows his tongue at James, something extraordinary happens. Nobody notices, but the corners of Remus Lupin's lips turn into a smile behind his book.
Sirius Black has many things to learn and unlearn during his Hogwarts years. And dating girls - or not dating them - is definitely one of those.

Hey! Maybe you could write Remus Lupin x Fem Reader seven minutes in heaven fluff;)
a/n: This is the longest work i've ever written, so I hope you enjoy it! Very special thanks to @lilmaymayy for betaing this 🫶
word count: 7.2k
seven minutes to forever
Tumblr media
The Gryffindor common room was ablaze with excitement as the Gryffindors celebrated their recent Quidditch victory against Slytherin. Waterloo by ABBA blared from the record player—courtesy of your best friend, Lily Evans. There were streamers of red and gold, along with a large banner with the words Gryffindor painted in red. There was a large table with sandwiches, cakes, pasties, and Honeydukes sweets, as well as a huge bowl of very suspicious-looking punch along with bottles of butterbeer and firewhiskey scattered around.
James Potter, the star Quidditch captain, was being hoisted onto the shoulders of his teammates as they chanted his name. Among the crowd, you spotted Sirius Black doing a little victory dance, while Peter Pettigrew was enthusiastically shovelling food onto his plate, and Remus Lupin was leaning against the wall with a small smile on his face, clearly enjoying the sight of his friends.
You turned your attention back to your friends, who danced along to the beat of the song. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight of your friends enjoying the night.
“Having fun, Y/n/n?” Lily asked as she twirled around.
“I am,” you chuckled, swaying your hips to the beat.
“You’re rocking that skirt, Y/n.” Marlene complimented.
You playfully rolled your eyes as you tugged on your skirt, still wondering how you ended up being coerced into wearing a form-fitting black leather skirt from Mary’s closet. “It’s awfully short, and it keeps riding up my thighs.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Y/n!” Mary chastised, swatting your hands away from the hem of the skirt. “You have the hips for it, and it makes your arse look good.”
You laughed and shook your head, knowing there was no arguing with Mary when it came to fashion. “Well, if you say so-” You were cut off by a tap on your shoulder.
“Hey, pretty girl.”
You rolled your eyes at the sight of Sirius Black trying to flirt with you. Sirius Black, the notorious ladies’ man and troublemaker, had always had a way of getting under your skin. His cocky smile and arrogance made you want to roll your eyes and give him a piece of your mind every time he came near you.
"Seriously, Black, can't you give it a rest?" you snapped, crossing your arms and turning away from him.
“But come on, love, you can't deny that I'm the most charming bloke around,” Sirius said, flashing his signature grin.
Rolling your eyes again, you huffed, "Charming? More like insufferable. I've had enough of your sorry excuse for compliments.”
Sirius chuckled, unbothered by your rejection. “I'll have you know that I can be quite serious when the situation calls for it.”
You scoffed. “The only thing serious about you is your name. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do than listen to your nonsense.”
With that, you turned on your heel and walked away, your friends trailing behind you.
“What the fuck was that, Y/n?” Mary asked with a raised brow.
“What? It’s not like I haven’t turned him down before.”
Mary scoffed. “Don’t tell me you still believe in finding your soulmate.”
You raised a brow at Mary. “Is there something wrong with that?”
“Well, I just don’t believe in that fairy-tale rubbish. Soulmates and true love—it's all a load of nonsense if you ask me,” Mary replied, shaking her head. “I just don't see how one person can be destined for another. There are billions of people in the world; it seems impossible that there's just one person meant for each of us.”
“Mary’s right,” Lily agreed. “And even if soulmates do exist, how do you know you'll ever find yours?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know; I just think there’s someone out there for everyone. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I like to believe in the idea of soulmates and true love. It gives me hope, you know?”
“Come on, Y/n, be real. When the hell are you going to find the one if you keep turning down every guy who tries to ask you out?” Lily asked with an exasperated sigh.
You rolled your eyes, turning to face the redhead. “I don’t know; maybe when sparks fly?”
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, and when you turned to look, sparks were flying literally out of the record player. Remus Lupin stood there frozen, his cheeks flushing from all the unwanted attention on him.
Your eyes locked into his; you felt as if time slowed down around you and everyone else just faded from view.
“What the bloody hell happened, Moony?” James Potter’s voice rang out, snapping you out of your trance.
“N-Nothing, I-I’ve just pulled the needle too early.” Remus stumbled on his words, his eyes not leaving yours.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at Remus’ embarrassment, but you couldn’t deny the flutter of butterflies in your stomach. As the chaos of the common room continued, you found yourself stealing glances at Remus, who had turned back to the record player to fix the problem.
“Come on, everybody! Let’s play seven minutes in heaven!” Sirius announced, trying to redirect the attention away from Remus.
You found yourself being tugged along by Lily, who insisted that you join in on the fun.
“Come on, Y/n, it’ll be a laugh! Plus, who knows, you might end up with your soulmate in the closet.” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh, shut it, Evans.” You groaned inwardly, not liking the idea of being locked in a closet with someone for seven minutes, but nonetheless, you followed your friends into the centre of the room, where an empty firewhiskey bottle was set up in the middle of a circle.
“Okay, so whoever the neck and the base of the bottle stops at has to spend seven minutes in the broom closet,” Sirius explained, pointing to the closet near the portrait hole. “You go first, Prongs,” Sirius said, passing the bottle to James with a smirk.
James spun the bottle, and it miraculously landed on Lily, which made her scowl and cross her arms over her chest. “I am not getting in that closet with you, Potter.”
“Come on, Evans, I didn’t make rules.”
“Go on, Lils,” you urged, a sly smirk plastered on your lips. “Rules are rules.”
Lily’s scowl deepened as she glared at you. “Fine.” Lily stomped towards the closet, James trailing behind her with a wide grin while the rest burst into a fit of giggles and cheers—including you, knowing that Lily would hex James into the next century if he tried anything.
A little while later, James came out of the closet rubbing his cheek an effect you know so well—Lily had hit him with stinging hexes.
“You alright?” Marlene asked, trying not to laugh at the look on Lily’s face as she sat between the two of you.
“Shut up.” Lily hissed, rolling her eyes. “Potter called me carrot top!”
“Alright, who’s next?” Sirius asked, trying to get the game going by spinning the bottle again. Your eyes followed the bottle as it spun around, anxiously waiting to see whether you were the next victim or not. This time it landed on you, and the other side was at Remus.
“My, my, my! Look who we have next!” Sirius announced loudly.
When the realisation set in that you would have to spend seven minutes with Remus Lupin in a small, hot, cramped closet, your cheeks flushed. Remus’s face began to match yours as the rest of the boys began to cheer—the girls even joining in—Lily had the same sly smirk you had just minutes ago.
“Go on, Y/n/n,” Lily urged, pushing you to stand. From the corner of your eye, you saw Remus stand up with a defeated sigh and make his way to you while the rest of the Marauders teased him.
Remus looked at you with an apologetic smile, his hand out, ready to help you up. You looked from your friends to the group and finally up to Remus, your eyes meeting his. Remus’ brown hair framed his face perfectly; he had long silver scars littering his face down to his neck, but he still looked as handsome as ever.
Remus crouched down beside you, his lips a few inches away from your ear, his hand out for you to take. “We don't have to do this, you know? We can just sit back down and let someone else-”
“No, no, it's alright, let’s do this”. You whispered back, taking his warm hand into yours. Everyone started to cheer, with your friends and the Marauders being the loudest of the lot. The two of you made your way into the closet.
“Go get some, Moony!” James laughed, his hands mimicking two people kissing, making Remus groan.
“Only seven minutes, love birds; use them wisely!” Sirius teased as you and Remus stepped inside. The moment the door shut, the two of you were plunged into darkness. You realised how small this closet really was; you were an inch away from being chest-to-chest with Remus.
You could feel Remus shifting in front of you, the air around you becoming warm with the close proximity. You tried to ignore the sight of his face in the dim lighting—chiseled jawline, strong nose, and brown eyes. Why the bloody hell did he have to be so handsome?
“Is it hot in here?” Remus asked, breaking the silence between the two of you as he fanned himself with his hand before fanning you as well. “Are you hot? I mean, you are hot-” You couldn’t help but laugh at what Remus had just said. Although you couldn’t see it, you knew his eyes had widened.
“S-sorry, I-I mean….” Remus stammered. The sound of your giggles made his cheeks feel warm. “I’m not exactly the smoothest bloke out here.” He chuckled nervously.
“Remus, it’s alright; I mean, it is a little stuffy in here.” you assured him, patting him on the shoulder.
“Yeah, it is,” Remus agreed before reaching into his pocket, pulling out his wand, and muttering, “Lumos.”
The light filled the small space and made you see the whole closet for the first time. If it were anyone else, you’d be panicking right now, but being with Remus didn’t feel as nerve-wracking.
“Sorry about this, Y/n,” Remus mumbled. “I didn’t think you would have wanted to be stuck in a closet with me.”
You chuckled, feeling heat rising to your cheeks. “It's fine, Remus. I know it's all just a game.”
“Thanks for coming with me here, I-“ Remus gulped, “I appreciate it.”
You raised a brow at him, a coy smile playing on your lips. “Remus, do you even know how many girls are wishing to be in my place right now? Merlin, they even call you the Casanova of Gryffindor tower!”
“Okay,” Remus began to relax, now laughing with you. “But that's just because I'm nice—nice to girls who just so happen to find me cute. Plus, I mean,” he breathed. “It's not like I'd pursue anything with them.”
You cock a brow, your teasing smile only growing as he rushes to defend, “I mean—they're all nice right back to me, but—I just have my eyes on someone else.”
You felt your heart skip a beat at Remus’ words. “Someone else, huh? Who could that be?”
“It’s just...” Remus hesitated, running his hand through his hair nervously. “I just feel like soulmates exist, you know? Maybe it’s stupid, but I can’t help it. I want to believe that there’s someone out there for me. Someone who gets me Someone who makes me feel... complete.”
Your heart pounded in your chest, and your mind was racing with questions. Were you just reading into things too much? Or was Remus trying to tell you something?
“I don’t think it’s stupid at all, Remus,” you said, your voice soft.
“I believe in soulmates too.” Remus looked up at you, surprised.  “You do?”
You nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. But before you could utter another word, there was a harsh bang against the closet door, interrupting your thoughts.
“I don't hear any kissing in that closet! Come on, you guys, don't be boring! You have three minutes left!” James’ voice echoed, muffled by the closet door.
You and Remus exchanged a glance before chuckling and shaking your heads.
“You know we don't have to do anything, right? I would never want to pressure you into anything, wizard’s honour,” Remus assured, raising a hand.
You smiled softly at his reassurance. “Eh, it sounds like they want a show. Who are we to deny them of it?” Your cheeks begin to flush, your heart pounding inside of your chest. But his lack of response made you nervous about the forwardness of your comment.
“Maybe we could just...” you gulped. “Make it seem like it.” Remus’ brows knitted in confusion. “You know, just make sounds to make them think,” you explained, hoping he'd understand.
Remus nodded, the confusion leaving his expression. “Right, that's a good idea.”
“Follow my lead.” You chuckled, winking at him.
Remus smirked. “Alright, take the stage.”
Your eyes twinkled with mischief before you banged on the closet door and let out a loud moan. “Oh fuck, Remus!”
“Oh shit, Moony’s getting some!” Sirius’ voice rang out along with loud cheers from everyone else outside the broom closet.
Remus’ eyes widened, clearly not expecting that from you. You jerked your head at him, urging him to do the same.
Remus let out an exaggerated groan: “O-oh, yes, baby girl, so good!”
“Oh Merlin, yes, yes!”
“Pinch me here,” Remus whispered, pointing to his neck. You obliged and pinched his neck lightly.
“Ouch! That hurt, baby girl!” Remus grunted. “You like it rough, huh, baby girl?”
“What in Merlin’s name are they doing?” Lily asked, horrified.
“They’re shagging, Evans; do try and catch up," Sirius said, mouth agape at the sounds coming from the closet.
The two of you continued to put on a performance, making kissing noises, grunts, thumping, and moaning from time to time.
And then, before you knew it, the door was being flung open by Sirius. “Time's up! Come on, you two lovebirds.”
Remus shot up, his face flushed. The two of you had your foreheads pressed together, hands intertwined, and clothes dishevelled. It felt strangely right, like connecting with Remus was something you were meant to do. He pulled you up, and the two of you walked out, avoiding everyone’s gaze, which seemed to be snickering. As soon as the two of you sat down, everyone didn’t waste time teasing both of you as you sat down.
“Remus, you sly dog!” James laughed, clapping Remus on the back.
“Wow, that was intense!” Peter chuckled, looking at you and Remus.
“Yeah, we thought the two of you had gotten lost in there,” Sirius added with a smirk.
“You slag, Y/n L/n!” Mary teased.
“Well, that was quite the show!” Marlene teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“I can’t believe you shagged Remus Lupin in a broom closet!” Lily rolled her eyes, but there was a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
You let out a groan and buried your face in your hands in embarrassment. “Can we not talk about this anymore? Move on to the next ones, please!”
“There will be no next, Miss L/n.” A voice said, and everyone in the room fell quiet. You lifted your head from your hands to see Professor McGonagall.
The excited chatter turned to hushed whispers. Everyone in the circle quickly stood up, some nearly toppling over because of the alcohol they consumed.
“This game ends now. If there are any further disruptions, there will be consequences. Is that clear?”
“We were just having some fun, Minnie,” Sirius explained, a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
“Fun is one thing, but disrupting the entire Gryffindor tower is another. I suggest you all clean up this mess and head off to bed,” Professor McGonagall ordered, her stern gaze sweeping over the room.
The room was quickly cleared of food, drinks, and decorations as everyone began to leave, grumbling and complaining about their fun being ruined. You helped Lily, Mary, and Marlene gather the streamers and discarded plates.
“Come on, Y/n/n, let’s head up,” Lily said, nudging you with her elbow. “I doubt Professor McGonagall is done giving her lecture for the night.”
“Yeah, that was a bit reckless, don’t you think?” Marlene added.
You sighed, feeling guilty for being a part of the chaos that had ensued. “I know, I know. I’m sorry, guys.”
“It’s okay; it was all good fun,” Mary assured
You nodded, trying to shake off the lingering embarrassment from the game and the moment you had shared with Remus.
“You sure? You’ve been quiet since you and Remus came out of the closet,” Lily teased, raising a suggestive eyebrow.
“Oh, shove off, Evans.” You rolled your eyes, playfully shoving her.
The four of you made your way up to the girls' dormitory, still reeling from tonight’s high, when someone called from behind you. You looked back only to see Remus jogging up towards you. You looked back at your friends, who were smirking at you before they stepped inside the dormitories—but you knew that they’d be listening from behind the door.
“Uh, hi.” Remus smiled sheepishly.
“Hey, Remus. What's up?” you asked, trying to act unsurprised but feeling the butterflies in your stomach were saying otherwise.
Remus stopped in front of you, nervously scratching the back of his neck. “Hey, Y/n. I just wanted to say that I had a great time with you, uh, in the closet. I mean, we made a great team, putting on that show. And, uh, I was wondering if maybe you'd like to do it again? Not the closet, of course, but... hang out, I mean.” He stumbled over his words, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
You couldn't help but smile at his awkwardness, feeling a rush of warmth at the thought of spending more time with him. “I'd like that, Remus. I had a good time too,” you replied, feeling a strange flutter in your stomach.
“Great!” Remus grinned, looking relieved. “Um, maybe we could, I don't know, go for a walk by the lake or something? If you want to, that is.”
Before you could answer his question, the door swung open, revealing Lily, Marlene, and Mary peeking out from behind.
“Time to hit the hay, lovebirds!” Mary interrupted, a sly smirk playing on her lips.
Remus chuckled, trying not to be too embarrassed in front of your friends. “Uh, so what do you say?”
“A walk by the lake sounds wonderful, Remus. I’d love to.”
“Great, it’s a date then,” Remus replied, a smile lighting his face. I’ll see you tomorrow at breakfast, Y/n?”
“Yes, definitely; I’ll see you then.”
You turned to walk up to your friends before giving Remus one last look. “Good night, Remus.” You smiled, leaning against the doorframe, your friends grinning behind you.
Remus smiled, his cheeks flushing pink. “Good night, Y/n.”
As soon as you step inside, your friends start to squeal.
“Okay, is it possible for you guys to not embarrass the living daylights out of me?” You growled with a mock glare, trying to hide the smile you couldn’t fight as you stepped inside the bathroom to get ready for bed.
“I can’t believe it!” Lily said, jumping up and down in excitement. “You and Remus, a walk by the lake—it's like something out of a romance novel!”
“Okay, okay, simmer down,” you said, rolling your eyes. “It’s not like it’s a date or anything."
"Yeah, right, we’ve never seen you smile like that before,” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
“It was just a walk by the lake, nothing special,” you insisted, shrugging your shoulders.
“Sure, sure,” Marlene said, rolling her eyes playfully.
“I hope he knows how lucky he is,” Mary added with a dreamy look.
“Should I go down and give him some pointers?” Marlene teased, earning a playful slap on the arm from Lily.
“You guys are insufferable, you know that?” You groaned, feeling your cheeks flush with embarrassment.
“Don’t pretend like you aren’t excited, Y/n,” Lily said with a wry smile.
“Fine, maybe I am a little excited about it,” you admitted, unable to stop a small smile from tugging at your lips.
“You should be, after all of what happened in the closet,” Marlene teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh, shut it. I’m going to bed before you all drive me crazy,” you groaned, rolling your eyes.
“Goodnight, lovergirl!” Lily called after you with a laugh as you climbed into bed, unable to stop a smile from spreading across your face.
As you settled into bed, you couldn’t stop thinking about the way Remus had looked at you, the warmth in his eyes, and the nervousness in his voice. You knew there was something there—something deep and unspoken, something that made you feel more alive than you had in a long time.
Meanwhile, Remus stood at the top of the staircase, staring at the door to the girls’ dormitories, a huge smile plastered on his facele.
“Oi, Moony! What are you smiling about, you lunatic?” James asked, approaching Remus with a confused look, Sirius and Peter trailing behind him.
"Nothing; I, uh, just had a good night tonight,” Remus replied with a shy smile. “I, uh, asked Y/n out on a walk by the lake tomorrow.”
James grinned, clapping Remus on the back. “That's great, mate!” James chuckled. “Finally decided to make a move, huh?”
Remus blushed and shrugged, feeling embarrassed. “I just had a really great time with her tonight, and I want to get to know her better,” he admitted.
“You've got it bad, mate,” Peter teased. “You’re already pining for her!”
“I wasn’t pining, I just...” Remus trailed off with a blush.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Moony,” Sirius chuckled, giving him a nudge.
“I’m happy for you, mate. I hope it goes well.” James smiled, giving Remus a pat on the shoulder.
“Thanks, Prongs,” Remus said, feeling grateful for his friend’s support.
“I’m happy for you too, Moony.” Peter smiled, clapping him on the back.
“What about you, Pads?” James asked, raising an eyebrow at Sirius, who rolled his eyes.
“Okay, I’m happy for you, Moons. But I’m the one that should be-”
“Okay Pads!” James said, clapping a hand over Sirius’ mouth. “You’re happy for Moony!”
“Yeah, yeah, I heard you loud and clear,” Sirius grumbled, playfully shoving James' hand away. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun too, does it?”
Remus laughed, feeling grateful for his friends and excited for his date with you. He couldn’t deny that there was something special about you—something that made his heart race and his palms sweat. Maybe, just maybe, you were the one he had been waiting for all along.
Maybe now he has somebody to love.
Surprisingly, Remus struggled to go to sleep that night; his smile was too wide and his dreams too big to relax and fall asleep. But eventually, his thoughts calmed down to imagining what the morning would bring, what her hair would look like, what she would wear, and what he'd say to her in class, finally allowing him to go to sleep.

The light slowly crept through the curtains of your four-poster bed, sunlight casting a warm glow over your face. You could hear loud shuffling from outside and stop at your bedside, the bed dipping down.
“Wake up, sleeping beauty!” Mary’s loud singsong voice echoed in your ears, making you groan in annoyance.
You turned your back at her, covering your head with your pillow. “Leave me alone,” you mumbled, still bleary-eyed.
“Get up, Y/n/n! We’re going to be late for breakfast!” Lily urged you, shaking your shoulder and yanking the pillow away from your head.
Groaning in protest, you reluctantly sit up and rub your eyes. “Fine, fine, I’m up.”
“Hurry up, don’t you want to see your soulmate at breakfast?” Lily teased, making Mary and Marlene snicker.
At the comment, your eyes popped open, meeting her knowing stare, eventually getting shy under her gaze, hiding your face in the pillow. She was right, so, albeit slowly, you pulled yourself up, dragging your feet to the bathroom to start getting ready.
You showered, washed, combed and dried your hair, brushed your teeth, and got dressed. You walked out of the bathroom to find your friends waiting for you, all of them giving you sly smirks as you walked towards them.
“What do you all have up your sleeves?” You asked, eyeing them suspiciously.
"Nothing; we’re just excited for you!” Lily said with a playful wink.
“Oh, please,” you scoffed, rolling your eyes. “Keep it down, you lot.”
With your lips glossed, your long hair braided to the side, and your uniform smoothed out, you grabbed your bag and followed your friends out of the common room and down the spiral staircase to the Great Hall for breakfast.
You made your way down to the Great Hall with your friends, Mary and Marlene, linking arms while you walked alongside Lily, chatting and laughing as you made your way to the Gryffindor table.
As you entered the hall, your eyes scanned the room and landed on Remus, who was sitting with his friends. Remus glanced up at you and met your eyes, a smile spreading across his face. You felt a rush of warmth in your chest as you returned his smile.
From your fleeting glance, you were still able to see his dark brown curls perfectly framing his chiseled face. Merlin he was cute. A small smile formed as you hurried to your usual seat beside Lily, who was already looking between you and Remus, a tease on the tip of her tongue. But with your averting gaze and soft sigh as you began to load your plate, she swallowed any comment down with the flush of her pumpkin juice.
In Remus’ eyes, you couldn't look more beautiful. Your hair was vibrant and bouncing just like you, and you looked effortlessly beautiful, essentially strutting to your seat beside Lily after catching his stare.
“Mate, you're going to burn holes into her head if you keep staring.” James laughed, chewing on his first sausage of the morning.
“Oh, piss off, you hypocrite! You’re acting like you weren't staring at Lily just the same.” Remus scowled, lightly pushing James’ elbow off the table but laughing hard as it threw him off balance, Prongs’ fighting to stay on his seat, and the boys fighting to keep their boisterous laughter down.
“You’re looking at her like she took the moon out of the sky.” Peter pointed out as he shovelled some eggs into his mouth.
“You don’t understand; she’s just different,” Remus mumbled, feeling a warm flush spread across his cheeks.
“Oi, quit ogling at her. Stop being such a hopeless romantic and eat your eggs.” Sirius smirked, pushing the plate of eggs in front of him.
“Alright, back off, lads,” James intervened, swatting Sirius and Peter and grabbing a piece of toast. “He's nervous. A bloke can only handle so much. It’s not everyday that Moony is out of his wits.” Taking a bite of his toast, a sly smile crossed his lips as he watched the interaction from the corner of his eye.
“Oh, for Merlin’s sake, can we just have breakfast in peace?” Remus groaned, taking a bite of his toast.
James chuckled, knowing that he had hit a spot. “Alright, Remus, just relax. You don't want to scare her off before you even get the chance to talk to her properly.”
“You think I don't know that?” Remus hissed, feeling his cheeks heat up even more.
“Just play it cool, mate. You'll be fine,” Sirius reassured, clapping Remus on the back.
“Yeah, just be yourself, and she'll fall for you in no time.” Peter added.
Remus sighed, trying to ignore the butterflies that were dancing in his stomach. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this nervous around a girl, and it was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating.
“Now,” James chuckled. “Eat the bloody eggs, Moony. We don’t want a cranky werewolf, do we?”
Remus couldn’t help but laugh, his cheeks still flushed. “Alright, alright,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Wanker.”
This caught the eyes of none other than Y/n, who was already staring at Remus, only starting to smile seeing him so in his element, laughing happily with his friends, hiding his blushing cheeks behind his scarred hand.
As you ate your breakfast, you found it hard to keep your attention on your food. Your eyes kept drifting back to Remus. A small smile tugged at your lips as you watched the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed and the way he ran a hand through his hair when he blushed.
Feeling a warmth spread throughout your chest, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of your walk with Remus later that day. And the longer you looked at him, the more you felt butterflies in your stomach. You continued to sneak glances at him throughout breakfast, feeling your cheeks flush with warmth as he caught your eyes and smiled back at you. The moment felt surreal, but in the best way possible.
As breakfast came to an end, Remus stood up from the table, looking over at you with a warm smile. With a shy smile, Remus asked, “Can I, uh, walk you to class, Y/n?”
Your friends started giggling from behind you, making you flush in embarrassment, your cheeks nearly rivalling Lily's red hair. You turned to glare at them, only to see their smiles wide—wider than the Cheshire cat, if possible.
“Go on, give him an answer,” Mary urged, a teasing smirk on her lips.
Remus shifted nervously as he waited for your response. You turned back to him and nodded. “I’d like that, Remus.”
Remus smiled, relieved at your response. “Great.” He extended his hand to you. “Shall we?”
You nodded, throwing your bag over your shoulder before taking his hand to stand up. “See you later, girls.”
“Have fun, Y/n. Take your time!” Marlene called out, making you scowl and roll your eyes.
“Come on, Remus, let’s go.” You smiled, fighting the heat as it rose to your cheeks. You and Remus started to walk out of the bustling hall.
“Oi, lover boy!” James called out to Remus with a huge grin.
Remus groaned, refusing to look back at James. “Bugger off, Prongs!”
You chuckled at his annoyance, his nose crinkled up, and his brows furrowing—which you find cute.
“Don’t forget protection!” Sirius yelled, laughing loudly.
Remus groaned even louder, his cheeks turning beet red, while you stifled a laugh.
“I’m going to kill them, as soon as they fall asleep.” he muttered, tugging at his scarf nervously.
You shook your head, laughing softly. “Don’t worry about them. They're just having fun.”
As you and Remus walked side by side on your way to your first class, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of comfort and contentment. The world around you seemed to fade away, and for that moment, it was just the two of you sharing each other’s company, and before you knew it, you had reached your classroom.
“Thanks for walking me, Remus,” you said with a warm smile. “I’ll see you later?”
Remus smiled back at you and said, “Yes, I’ll see you later.” He sighed contentedly as you stepped inside the classroom, feeling his heart thump loudly in his chest.
Remus turned away and walked to his respective class, still reeling from the sight of your smile, when someone laughed from behind him.
“There’s our good old-fashioned lover boy!”  Sirius laughed at the sight of Remus, looking like a lovesick puppy—well, like a lovesick wolf cub.
“Merlin, Moony, you look like a walking tomato,” James teased, ruffling his hair.
“Leave me alone,” Remus groaned, feeling his cheeks flush even more. “I can’t believe you guys! ”
“You’ve got it bad, Moony,” Peter grinned. “It’s written all over your face.”
The taunting and teasing continued all the way to their first class—History of Magic—and as Remus took his seat, he couldn’t help but feel excited for the walk with you later, wondering what he could do to make it special for you.
What about a picnic? That’s nice; she would like that.
Flowers—every girl loves flowers, right? Maybe I can stop by the greenhouse and pick some up for her. Wait, what flowers does she even like?
Remus sighed, slumping in his seat. Of course he wouldn’t know what her favourite flowers were; hell, he didn’t know a thing about her yet. Remus felt hopeless; there was no way he could surprise you, unless...
“Prongs,” Remus whispered, tapping James on the shoulder.
“Huh?” James mumbled, half-awake.
“Can you guys help me with something?” Remus asked, a hopeful look in his eyes.
James yawned, rubbing his eyes awake. “What do you need?”
Remus took a deep breath. “I want to surprise Y/n later.”
James’ eyes widened. “You romantic son of a—Oi Sirius, wake up!” James nudged Sirius hard, jolting him awake.
“Where’s the dragon!? Where!?” Sirius exclaimed, bolting upright and nearly toppling out of his seat.
“Settle down, Padfoot. Remus is not going to surprise a girl with a dragon.” James rolled his eyes, making Remus huff in exasperation. “Moony needs our help with something; pay attention.”
Sirius blinked, his eyes unfocused, until he looked between Remus and James. “What's going on?” he asked, shaking his head to fully wake up.
“Remus wants to surprise Y/n today; give him some ideas,” James urged, nudging Sirius with his elbow. “You’re good at this sort of thing.”
“Oh, right. I’m quite the charmer, aren’t I?” Sirius yawned.
“Whatever, just help me,” Remus sighed, rolling his eyes as he leaned closer to the two of them.
“How about flowers?” Sirius suggested, “Girls love flowers.”
“Duh, we know that,” James said, rolling his eyes. “But which flowers?”
Sirius shrugged. “I don’t know. Just pick some nice ones.”
“Brilliant idea, really helpful,” Remus rolled his eyes.
James groaned. “This is going to take some serious planning,” he muttered, shaking his head.
Over the course of the class, the three boys huddled together and began to think of ways to help Remus plan a surprise for you. Together, they came up with the perfect idea for the picnic by the lake.
1. James will get the food from the kitchen.
2. Sirius will get a blanket and tea candles for that romantic feel.
3. Peter’s going to get the flowers.
4. Remus, just be Remus.

Later on, after class, the Marauders headed outside of the castle to start preparing for the surprise, leaving you none the wiser on what was going on behind the scenes. Throughout the day, Remus couldn’t keep the smile off his face, feeling the excitement build in his chest with each passing hour.
The sun began to set as evening approached, and students started to make their way back to their respective common rooms, some already getting ready to study in the library and some on their way to detention. When you reached your dorm, you found your friends waiting for you, already curious about how your day had gone.
“So, how was your day, Y/n?” Mary asked, a playful glint in her eyes.
“Yeah, what’d he say?” Marlene added, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
You rolled your eyes at their teasing, but you couldn’t deny the warm feeling that bloomed in your chest at the thought of your time with Remus. “We just had a nice walk to class together; nothing too exciting,” you replied, trying to keep your voice nonchalant.
Lily and the others exchanged knowing looks, clearly not buying your casual tone. “Alright, well, we won’t pry….yet.” Lily smirked. “Make sure to come back to the common room once you're done with your walk. You have to tell us everything.”
“That’s assuming there’s anything to tell,” you chuckled, feeling a familiar warmth spread throughout your chest. With that, you made your way to get ready for your walk with Remus, excitement bubbling inside you. You quickly freshened up and changed into a comfortable yet cute outfit—a pale pink sweater and some white jeans—making sure to look presentable for your time with Remus.
You waved your friends goodbye as you left the dorm, already looking forward to spending time with Remus and getting to know him better. You walked down to the common room, only to be stopped by James.
“Hi, Y/n.”
“Hey, James,” you smiled. “Have you seen Remus?”
“Actually, Mr. Moony has sent me to fetch you, my fair maiden.” James grinned before taking an exaggerated bow in front of you.
“If you’d be so kind as to follow me.” James held out an arm with a flourish, which made you laugh and roll your eyes.
“Alright, show me the way, kind sir,” you giggled, taking his arm.
James led you through the corridors, making jokes along the way. The two of you stopped at the courtyard, and James then turned to you.
“Go down to the beech tree; Remus is waiting for you there.” James smiled, winking at you.
“Thanks, James,” you chuckled, before making your way through the courtyard and down to the lakeshore.
As you reached the spot where Remus was waiting, you couldn’t help but feel a shot of warmth in your chest yet again. Remus was standing there with a smile on his face and a bouquet of pink and yellow flowers in his hand.
“Hi, you look beautiful.” Remus’ smile widened, his cheeks turning pink as he offered you the flowers.
You had to fight back a smile as his compliment made your heart skip a beat. “Thank you, Remus,” you said with a shy smile, taking the flowers. “Everything looks really lovely.”
Your eyes fell on the setup that Remus had prepared—a blanket spread out on the grass, tea candles placed around, and a small picnic basket beside it.
“Did you do all this?” you asked, feeling genuinely touched.
“Not entirely,” Remus admitted, smiling sheepishly. “My friends helped me, but I wanted to do something special for you.”
“Thank you, Remus. This is really sweet,” you said, feeling warmth in your chest.
You sat down on the blanket, and Remus joined you. The two of you started to talk and get to know each other better as the sun began to set. The air was filled with laughter, chatter, and the sound of nature around you. It felt like time was slowing down, allowing both of you to enjoy the moment and each other’s company.
As the evening turned to night and the moon shone brightly in the velvet sky, Remus took a deep breath, feeling a sense of contentment and happiness wash over him. He couldn’t deny that there was something special about you—something that made him feel more alive than he had in a long time. And in that moment, as you talked and laughed under the moonlight, Remus couldn’t help but feel as if he had found someone who understood him, someone who made him feel like everything was right in the world. And in that moment, he knew that you were someone he wanted to hold onto, someone he wanted to be a part of his life.
You looked up, meeting Remus’ eyes, and felt a sense of connection that you had never experienced before. Looking into his warm and gentle brown eyes, you just felt safe, and you knew that this was the start of something special, something worth holding onto.
“Thank you for tonight, Remus,” you said, feeling a sense of contentment in your heart.
“It was my pleasure, Y/N; you deserve it and more. I had a great time with you,” Remus replied, his eyes holding a warmth that made your heart skip a beat. “I was wondering...”
“What is it?”
“Would you like to go with me to Hogsmeade on the weekend?”
Blood rushed into your cheeks at his question. Remus just asked you out to Hogsmeade! “I’d love to, Remus.”
Remus’ smile widened, and his cheeks tinged pink. “Great. It’s a date?”
You chuckled softly. “Yes, it’s a date.”

As you both made your way back to the Gryffindor common room, the evening felt magical in a way that you couldn’t quite define. You stepped inside your dorm, and you were met with the squeals and teasing of your friends, who had clearly been waiting for your return.
“You’ve been gone for ages; you seemed to be having fun,” Marlene teased, nudging you playfully.
“Hey, stop it!” you laughed, playfully swatting her arm.
“It looks like someone had a good time,” Lily teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
You shook your head at their teasing, but you couldn’t deny the smile that remained on your face. Tonight had been different and special, and you couldn’t wait to see what the future held.
As you sat on your bed with your friends, the warm feeling in your chest lingered, and for the first time in a long time, you felt like everything was going to be okay.
And as for Remus, as he made his way to his dormitory, a smile remained on his face. The special night with you felt like a dream, but he knew that it was just the start.
Maybe you were the one he had been waiting for—the one who could tame the heart of a werewolf—the one who could make him feel more alive than he had in a long time. And the thought of spending more time with you, getting to know you, and making new memories together filled him with hope and excitement.
He went to sleep that night with a contented heart and the belief that you were the one he had been searching for all this time, the one he could see himself falling for. And as he drifted into sleep, he let the thoughts and dreams of you soothe him to a good night’s rest.
Who knew a game of seven minutes in heaven could make you feel like this?

“Please don’t cry, I’ve always hated it when you cry”
james potter x insecure!fem!reader
TW: angst, happy ending, hurt, insecure thoughts
You were a muggleborn witch at Hogwarts and had somehow made your way into cahoots with the marauders. Since you had first helped Remus Lupin with his Herbology homework you had been introduced to the band of misfits and had soon become one of the only girls who could say they were just friends with the marauders.
That however changed in the course of your third year when James Potter had somehow grown into his clothing and glasses. His hair had changed from its usual slicked back look to a messy bunch of curls. It seemed you weren’t the only one who noticed that James Potter had some who’s gotten hotter, every girl in your year had somehow developed a crush on the boy since getting back. Safe to say that Sirius Black found himself competing with his best mate over who was the better looking marauder.
You knew however that James had only ever had eyes for a red head Gryffindor which never bothered you before as you used to help him with his extravagant ways to ask Lily out. You knew even though he had somehow caught your eye he would still never see you as more than a best friend and you somehow had to live with that.
Your crush had carried on from third year all the way to seventh which broke your heart as you watched the boy you loved pine over a girl who had never given him the time of day. That was until miraculously Lily Evans agreed to go to Hogsmead with James Potter in their seventh year.
To say James was ecstatic was an understatement and you knew that although your heart was breaking you had to be supportive and cheer him on as he finally got the girl of his dreams. As you walked to the marauders dorm you had overheard Sirius talking to James. “Mate you know you can’t go on this date with Lily, you’d only be leading her on” Sirius’ voice was loud and somewhat frustrated which confused you. Wasn’t James in love with Lily?
“I know man, but we both know I can’t be with her.” James said slowly as if in disgust?. “What do you mean ‘her’?! You say it as if it’s some kind of crime to like her!” Sirius exclaims and you’re suddenly confused on who they could possibly be talking about. You move closer to the door and peek in to see James sitting on his bed and Sirius pacing the room with his hands raking through his dark hair.
“You know what I mean Sirius! You know that my parents would approve of Lily, she’s nice enough and I don’t want to think about what people would say if they knew I had a crush on Y/N!! You’ve seen how she looks man, i just can’t man ..” James rambles.
You gasp softly and that’s enough for Sirius to notice you standing behind the door. His eyes widen before they walk towards the door hastily whilst James looks at his retreating figure with confusion. Before Sirius can get to you, you’re running down the stairs and outside the Gryffindor common room before making your way to the black lake with tears streaming down your face
You feel to the ground grasping your chest as it felt like your heart was being torn from your chest. You knew that your feelings were unrequited but hearing James speak about you in that manner had hurt more than you expected. You weren’t ready to hear your own insecure thoughts come out of the mouth of someone you thought had your best interests at heart.
You sobbed until you couldn’t cry anymore and you simply wrapped your arms around yourself as you laid back against a tree as you slowly closed your eyes from exhaustion. Before you knew it you were woken up from a panicked voice in the distance sounding eerily similar to James Potter
“Y-Y/N! Merlin! We were so worried you hadn’t come for dinner and it turned to curfew and we couldn’t find you so I told pads and moony I was taking the map to try and find you!” Yep, that was James. You groaned groggily as you opened your eyes to see James crouched in front of you in a panicked state.
“Did i fall asleep? Shit! I was meant to help Frank with his transfiguration homework today-“ you were cut off by James hugging you tightly. You slowly wrapped your arms around him confused on why he was so panicked. “U-uh, James are you crying?” You questioned confused as you rubbed his back slowly as you felt wetness pool onto your shoulders.
His body all of a sudden wracked with sobs that broke your heart and you pulled him closer to hug him tighter. “Hey hey shh, please don’t cry Jamie..I’ve always hated it when you cried” you cooed softly as you wiped his tears and hugged him tightly.
He smiled through his tears as he picked you up. You gasped shocked and embarrassed that he was holding you up like nothing when he had told Sirius that he couldn’t walk around whilst people knew that he “liked you”. Considering you couldn’t even be sure if that was even the truth at this point.
“James put me down…please” you uttered softly and he looked at you confused and placed you down before looking at you in question. “What’s wrong? I was so worried that you were hurt with all that’s going on about the dark lord and his new death eater followers I was worried someone had gotten to you and i can’t bear to think about what I would have done if you were hurt-“ He was cut off by you slapping your hand over his mouth.
“You can stop pretending James, I heard you talking to Sirius about how you couldn’t stand the thought of people knowing if you liked me, it’s okay, we don’t need to act like we’re friends alright? I’ll leave you alone, just please stop acting like you care-“
“NO! No no no no! Listen Y/N you’ve got it all wrong please don’t walk away from me, I promise when I was talking to Sirius I meant that you were way out of my league and I knew that you deserved better than someone like me, i didn’t at all mean that you were anything less than perfect okay? Please believe me I can’t lose you..”
You had felt the tears streaming down your face long before James had finished his little speech. “What do you mean you like me? James you’ve been in love with Lily since first year..you don’t need to say you like me just because it seems like the kind thing to do, I promise I can get over this stupid crush I have just don’t lead me on-“ it was now your turn to be cut off by James’ slightly chapped lips and cold hands on your face.
You kissed him back fervently and moved your hands to wrap around his neck as he pulled away you tucked into yourself into his neck as you blushed. “If that didn’t let you know that I have been pining over lily to distract myself from you I don’t know what will. I promise I have never lied about liking you” he could feel your smile in the crook of his neck and he pulled you away from him he smiled “cmon let’s get back to the dorms, everyone has been looking for you” you smiled softly before nodding
As you both made your way back to the dorms you knew that James Potter had always had your heart and you his however you were both somewhat too blind to see it.

Jily Microfic - Sentimental
@jilymicrofics- feb 25th, prompt: sentimental - words: 397
It was not difficult to know what James Potter liked, as he never stopped talking about himself. So of course Lily knew that his favorite team was Puddlemere United, his favorite dessert was sticky toffee pudding, his favorite spot was the very top of the quidditch stands at sundown, and his favorite chocolate frog card to get was Salazar Slytherin, because he enjoyed repeatedly flicking him in the face. Anyone plagued by his proximity, Lily was sure, would know these things as well.
The difficult task had been deciding which of his favorites to use, but in the end, dessert seemed the obvious choice.
Lily arrived at their shared office twenty minutes before they were set to meet. Charming the pudding and sauce to stay warm and the ice cream to stay cold, she set the plate at his desk, ready and waiting for when he came in.
“What’s this?" James asked, standing beside his desk and pointing at the plate. His eyebrows were knit in confusion, but Lily thought she saw a grin waiting in the rafters.
Lily leaned back in her desk chair and said, "Happy anniversary," as way of an answer.
An eyebrow flicked skyward, and Lily relished in James’s awkward hesitation before he replied,  "...Anniversary?"
"Yes," she said, and stood to join him by his desk. “Don’t you remember?”
The paused grin had disappeared altogether now, his expression one of total bewilderment. “Er… No.” His hand went to his hair, and Lily’s heart did a small flip, as it always did when she elicited his infamous fidget.
“This day last year was the first time – and only – time you made a potion better than mine,” she explained, speaking as though it should have been obvious. “I thought it worthy of celebration.”
His face split into an amused grin. “I didn’t know you were so sentimental, Evans.”
She shrugged, smiling to herself. “It was a once in a lifetime sort of moment.”
He snorted. “Quite a claim when we’ve got a lot longer to go in this lifetime.”
“Mm,” she hummed, “I’m not worried.”
Looking down at the dessert again, James glanced at her from the corner of his eye. “Did you know sticky toffee pudding’s my favorite?”
Lily crossed her arms. “Really?” She shook her head. “How funny. Lucky guess, I suppose.”
“Yeah,” he replied, lifting the spoon with a smirk. “Lucky guess.”

They say you don’t actually live until you meet your soulmate, that the day you finally touch them for the first time the world stops and you magically start living. They say that before you’re on autopilot. You weren’t sure how much you believed that. You hadn’t met your soulmate yet, but you thought you lived a pretty full life.
You had a close group of friends— Cindy Hawthorn from Slytherin, Zachary Jones from Hufflepuff, and Michael Perez from Slytherin— you were in Ravenclaw just like your Mother, you were a prefect, you got mostly perfect grades. So how could you have not lived?
James was the opposite. He did every crazy thing he could think of to prove himself wrong, he wanted to believe his life was perfect as is, but it never worked. He knew he wasn’t living without his soulmate, he could feel it.
He had Sirius, Remus,Peter, Lily, Dorcas, Marlene, and Mary. He had a great set of parents, plenty of money, made fine grades and he was head boy. He had what seemed to be the perfect life, but he knew it was far from.
As a prefect, one of your duties this year was to help plan the winter ball. You were ecstatic, the winter ball was one of your favorite things ever.
You sat with Mike as usual at the prefect meeting. Mrs. Mcgonagall sat with James Potter and Lily Evans on either side of her, head boy and head girl. You hadn’t really ever talked to either one of them, the only class you had with them was astronomy and most slept during astronomy.
Though, you had an opinion on James Potter, who didn’t? Most people loved him, somehow finding him charming. You personally saw him as a childish boy disguised as a man.
You and the other Ravenclaw prefect, Eric Jonesy, were in charge of food. That was your favorite job since you got to taste everything the elves made to make sure it was good, and it always was. When you heard your name called, you gave Jonesy a polite smile, and he did the same.
“Well, I’d better go talk to Eugenia, how we’re to find music I’ve got no clue.” Mike says to you, standing up as the meeting ends.
“That’s fine, I’ve got to talk to Jonesy about snacks anyways. See you at breakfast?” He nods and salutes you as he walks away. You grab your bag and approach Jonesy. “Hey, do you have an idea on when we should talk about the snacks?”
“Oh hi L/N! Erm.. Are you going to the quidditch game on Saturday?” You scrunch up your face and shake your head. “Perfect me neither, would you like to meet up at twelve in the common room then?”
“That works for me. See you then.” You smile and wave before walking off. When you exit the meeting room, a boy runs into you, knocking you to the floor. You look up to see Sirius Black on the floor in front of you.
“I’m sorry!” You narrow your eyes at him.
“It’s past curfew, Black, what are you doing here?” I stand up and he follows soon after.
“Waiting for James.” You roll your eyes.
“Five points from Gryffindor. He’s inside.”
He grins. “Thank you!” He goes to hug you and you place your hand on his chest.
“Don’t push it.” With that, you walk off.
The next morning, you and Mike meet up with Zach, Cindy, and Cindy’s girlfriend, Marlene, in the great hall.
“Morning all!” You say, sliding onto the bench.
“Morning.” They chorus.
“How’d the prefect meeting go? Heard you took some points from us.” Marlene asks, taking a bite of her grits.
“It went well, I’m in charge of the food for the ball!” You smile proudly. “And yes, Sirius Black seemed to think that waiting outside a room full of prefects after curfew was a good idea.”
She rolls her eyes.“Course he did.” She turns to her girlfriend and smiles. “We’re going to the ball together right?” Cindy nods.
“I thought that was implied.” She says with a small laugh. Zach fake gags from beside her.
“I miss my best friend.” He says dramatically.
“I’m right here dumbass.” Cindy snorts, moving her blonde hair behind her shoulders.
“No you’re not. You’re on Marlene island. And you didn’t even get a ticket back.” She deadpans.
“Are you serious right now? I’m going to act just like this when you meet your soulmate and want to spend every second with her.” Zach grimaces. Mike wraps his arm around you.
“At least I have my stand-in soulmate still.” You smile and shake your head. Mike has been calling you that since you were 11 and witnessed two soulmates meeting for the first time.
“Agreed.” Zach opens his mouth to retort but is interrupted by four boys approaching you all. It’s James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. You sit up straighter. “Can we help you boys?”
“Heard you took points from Gryffindor last night. I asked Sirius to wait there for me so I’d like them back, thank you.” James replies.
“Does Mcgonagall know you, the head boy, are letting fellow classmates— not to mention your best friend— get away with being out past curfew?” No response. “You’re lucky I only took five. I could’ve taken ten. Fifteen even. And, Black, you’re lucky I didn’t give you detention.”
“Oh. Yeah thanks for that.”
“I would’ve revoked it anyways.” James murmurs.
“Dumbledore must have been feeling funny when he appointed you head boy.” You shake your head and start eating breakfast.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means that you’ve done nothing to actually deserve the honor of head boy. You’ve had more write ups than I can count on my fingers. Everyone else is just too blind to see.” Mike replies for you. “I mean, come on now, you barely even passed potions last year.”
“It’s a hard subject!” Mike rolls his eyes. “What have you all got against me anyways? Are you jealous?”
Zach turns around. “Potter, what could we possibly be jealous of? You didn’t even win the quidditch cup last year.”
“That’s because your beaters hit a bludger at him!” Sirius replied.
“Maybe that’s because that’s what they’re supposed to do?”
“If you all have some sort of problem with James, just say it.”
“I have a problem with James.” Zach and Cindy chime.
“I have a problem with James. Wow, that was actually really clarifying, thank you Sirius.” Mike says with a shit eating grin.
“I have no issue with James. I’ve got issues with rule breaking.”
“You must be fun at parties.” James says with a snort.
“I am actually.. when I’m not on duty. That’s the difference between you and me, I know when things have gone too far.”
“What are you talking about? I know when things are too far!”
“Really? Like in fifth year when you publicly humiliated Snape? That wasn’t too far?”
“I was fifteen!”
“So was Snape! You never even apologized.”
“What, so you don’t like me because of something I did two years ago?”
“Yes.. and the fact that you don’t seem a bit sorry for it, or any other prank you have ever pulled on anyone. James, don’t take it personally, I’m sure you just forgot or didn’t realize. At least I hope so.” You stand up, grabbing your things. “I’m off to class. Have a wonderful day.” You turn to your friends. “Whose common room are we meeting in later?”
“Yours!” Zach yells. He always preferred the Ravenclaw common room to his own. Especially since it’s a tower and, in his words, ‘The perfect landing pad’. He would open a window from the outside on his broom, and fly in.
“Alright. See you all then.” With that, you walk off.
The rest of the day goes by smoothly, your classes are great, seeing your friends is great, and you only had one more class. Astronomy. You were able to sneak in a small nap before heading up to the tower.
You don’t bother standing with anyone else, you’re far too tired to socialize. However, when James Potter walks in and sees you, he immediately goes to stand beside you.
“Evening, L/N!”
You deadpan. “It’s midnight.”
“How was your day?”
You glare at him.
“Sleepy?”
No response.
“Fair. I’m quite tired myself. Head boy duties, you wouldn’t get it.”
“Shut up, please, for the love of Merlin, shut up.” You beg, stepping away from him.
“Wait—“ James reaches out and grabs your hand. Before you can realize it, everyone suddenly stops, it’s like you're frozen in James’ grip.
“What the hell?” You whisper, looking around at your frozen classmates. You glance at your wrist and finally realize that James is touching you. For the first time.
“You’re my soulmate.” He says, with the biggest grin you’ve ever seen in your life. You stare at him astonished.
“What the hell?” You repeat. You pull your wrist out of his grip and everyone starts moving again. “We will talk about this later.” You walk off, leaving the tower, completely disregarding the professor yelling at you.
Your first thought is to go get Mike, but you knew he was asleep, he was always in bed at 8 PM on days he didn’t have Astronomy. So instead you just went to your room, and slept.
The next morning, you’re woken by someone pounding on your door. You groggily get up and answer, no one should be there this early on a Saturday.
“What?” It’s Mike, grinning at you knowingly.
“James Potter is your soulmate?”
You groan. “How did you find out? It happened at 12 last night, do you have a mic on me or something?” You shake your head and let him in, closing the door behind him and then collapsing on your bed.
“I know everything. How are you feeling about it?”
“Out of all the people in the world, it had to be him? He’s so.. childish.”
“And you’re pretty uptight.”You look at him in shock. “It’s the truth! You are! I say it out of love, you know that. Opposites do attract, maybe you and Potter will be really good together.”
“Maybe.”
“How did he react?”
“He was pretty happy. I just brushed him off like he was nothing. Merlin.. what kind of soulmate am I?” You rub your face. “I have to go talk to him huh?”
“Yeah.” He pauses. “I know I’ve never liked him, but I think you guys will be great together. You have to be. Look at this as a good thing, will you?”
“I’ll try.”
“Okay, now get out of bed, and go talk to your soulmate. I’ve got to high five the entire student body.”
You laugh. “Use hand sanitizer.” He nods before leaving. You sigh, looking up at the ceiling wondering if James would even want to talk to you after last night.
After getting up and dressed, you go to the Gryffindor common room, asking the Fat Lady for him. You waited for five minutes, until the portrait opened and Remus Lupin walked out. He gave you a polite smile.
“Is James in there?”
“Er.. yeah. I should warn you, Sirius set up a prank in the common room. There’s a trip-wire at the end of the tunnel, don’t touch it and you’ll be fine.” You nod.
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.. And, for the record, James is happy it’s you.” He leans into the portrait and whispers the password, letting you in when it opens. You walk down the tunnel, hesitating, you are able to spot the trip wire and step over it.
It’s easy to find his dorm, “HEADBOY” is carved right above the door. You knock as soon as you get there so that you don’t overthink it and leave.
“One moment!” James calls out. You find yourself smiling at the sound of his voice. You can hear shuffling on the other side of the door before it finally opens and James meets your eyes. “Y/N!”
“Hi James. Can I come in?” He quickly nods and moves out of your way. His dorm is big, there’s a full sized bed, a couch, a few bookshelves, a desk, and two wardrobes. “You have a nice dorm..”
“Thank you! Perks of being Headboy I suppose.” You sit down on the couch and he quickly sits beside you.
“I apologize for running off last night.”
“It’s okay, I understand.”
“I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t know why I did that. I’m sorry.”
“Y/N, it’s okay. I understand that you were shocked.” You shake your head.
“More than shocked. We’re complete opposites, James. I was scared, I am scared.”
“Of what?”
“Of us hating each other!”
“Why would we hate each other?” You sigh.
“Because! You’re so.. loose. You’re brave. You’re the most Gryffindor-y person I’ve ever met. And I am not that. I am quiet, I’d do anything to stay out of trouble, I hate being in trouble. Meanwhile trouble seems to follow you wherever you go!” James just stares at you. “I don’t know how you could ever possibly be happy with someone like me.” You admit quietly.
“How could I not be?” He immediately replies. “You’re like sunshine. I’ve never seen you do anything other than laugh. You’re responsible, and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I could probably do with being a little moreresponsible myself. If anything, you’re perfect for me. I’m perfect for you. We balance each other out. You have half of my soul, don’t ignore that, please.” You stare at him for a second, trying to form a response. Instead you just grab his face and kiss him.
When you pull away from the kiss, James smiles at you.
“Don’t.” You say, glaring at him.
“What? I didn’t even say anything.”
“You were thinking.”
“I do that a lot.”
“Poor brain.”
“You like me.”
“Hush.”
“You kissed me!”
“Shut up!”
“You fancy me!” You hit his shoulder playfully as you start to smile too.
“You kissed me back, you must fancy me too.”
“You caught me.” He leans in and kisses you again.
As you sat there with James, you realized that even though the relationship would definitely have its issues it was worth it.

never gonna love again
pairing: remus lupin x fem! reader
summary: inspired by “cowboy like me” by taylor swift
warnings: fluff, slight angst, remus smokes a cigarette, mentions of drinking (very brief) & lyrics are in italics & bold
authors note: i finally finished this!! it’s a little long i hope you guys don’t mind :)
“and the tennis court was covered up with some tent-like thing. and you asked me to dance, but i said, ‘dancing is a dangerous game.’ oh, i thought this is gonna be one of those things. now i know, i’m never gonna love again.”
you really never saw this coming; lily evans marrying james potter. it was funny how one of your closest friends married the person she claimed to have hated back in hogwarts. you watch silently on the side as lily and james happily dance in a crowd of happy couples under bright lights.
“they look happy don’t they?” a deep voice asks, slightly startling you, you turn to look at your surprise visitor. your eyes meet the face of remus lupin. a boy (now man) you used to go to school with and a good friend of james.
“yes, yes they do.” you state matter of fact, turning your head back to the people dancing. “i’m remus.” you turn your head to look at remus again, he has his hand out, wanting to shake hands with you. “i know who you are.” it came out more rude than you intended. but you didn’t apologize. “oh” he's a little surprised by your blunt response, but gives you a smile. “well would you like to dance y/n?”
“i’m not sure about that.” you’re hesitant, you can’t really dance and you don’t know remus. you’re not sure if you want to. but the man wasn’t going to give up. “well we don’t have to dance, c'mon.” remus keeps his hand out for you to grab. you were still hesitant to take remus hand not knowing where the tall man intended to take you, but you finally decided to go. it was better than just standing on the sidelines watching people dance.
“i've got some tricks up my sleeve. takes one to know one, you're a cowboy like me”
you let remus walk you outside of the big white tent where the wedding ceremony was still taking place around your friends. it’s a grassy green area with nothing around but wildflowers. remus lets go of your hand and takes a few more steps forward. reaching into his pockets. he grabs a lighter and a cigarette packet, grabbing one and quickly lighting it.
“do you mind?” he questions, slightly raising an eyebrow. “no, not at all” you shrug your shoulders, as remus mumbles a “thanks” as he lifts the cigarette to his mouth. “so why take me out here?” you question as remus smokes. “just wanted to talk to you.” you walk toward remus and decide to sit down, he joins you; cigarette still in his mouth. you watch him silently while he smokes his cigarette. “ya know, i’ve always found you pretty while attending hogwarts.” remus turns to look at you, a smile on his face.
“yeah?” you’re a little baffled really not expecting to hear that from remus. you always thought remus was out of your league and you’ve never really had the guts to say you liked him back then. “yeah, of course how could i not?” you just shrug not knowing how to answer his question. “i’ve always found you quite pretty too.” you say silently, remus laughs at that, he has never been described as pretty from others except from james. “you’re a liar.” he claims, still laughing. “believe it or not lupin i did.” he stops laughing, and stares at you for a moment, trying to figure out if you’re lying. “really?” and you’re surprised he doesn’t believe you. “everyone had a crush on you back then.”
“as they did you.” and it was true. you both did have a dating history back in hogwarts, but you haven’t dated much now since you left school. it grows quiet between the two of you, remus looks down at you with a small smile with of course a hint of mischief in it.
“can i kiss you?” remus moves closer to you waiting for an answer. you nod your head a little fast, letting out a shaky “yes”, remus places one hand under your chin and the other on the side of your face delicately. as if you're made of glass, lifting your head up as he slightly bends down to kiss you. soft and tender, are the words to describe this kiss. you’ve kissed plenty of people in your life but none of them felt as soft and sweet as this kiss with remus. he held you and touched you so tenderly, no one has ever held you like this. it was nice, it was new for you. you move in more confident, asking remus to give you more, you move your hands up to remus dark hair gripping it.
“lupin get your grimy hands off lily’s friend and join the rest of us back in the tent!” you pull back from remus with a gasp of surprise leaving your lips. remus backs up a little from you, as you turn to look at sirius, remus just shakes his head giving sirius a thumbs up while looking down at you. as sirius walks back into the tent you turn your head to remus. and now it’s silent and you feel slightly awkward, now making yourself smaller, letting go of remus and holding your arms against yourself. not knowing what to do. remus laughs a little, sensing the awkwardness. “can i have your number?” he asks with a smile hoping you’ll say yes. “yeah, yeah you can.”
remus gets your number and makes a promise to call you before he turns and makes his way back to the tent leaving you alone to join your friends. you know remus had a history with dating people back at hogwarts.. you couldn’t judge since you did as well. you’re just nervous it’s going to end how it always does. it’s just going to end as a one time thing.
“never wanted love just a fancy car. now i'm waiting by the phone, like i'm sitting in an airport bar. you had some tricks up your sleeve takes one to know one.”
after that one interaction with remus at the wedding, he promised to call and he did, you’ve been seeing remus for a month now. and you never expected to fall in love this fast but you did. you fell hard. you love spending your days with remus. he was exciting, fun, smart and sweet. you wait for his every move and wait for every call. it’s like you have nothing better to do than to just sit and wait like you would at an airport bar.
you’re sitting on the couch reading a book while waiting for remus to call you, he said he would call sometime today. and you just can’t wait to talk to him. the phone rings and you quickly discard the book and pick up the phone. excited to talk to remus. “hello?” and it’s only a few seconds of silence until on the other end of the line you hear remus’ voice. “hi dove!” you can’t see remus but you’re sure he has a crooked smile on his face. “remus, hi!” you say brightly and a little loud, he laughs a little, “can i come over? i miss you.”
“yes!” you say it too quick and fast to your liking. you try to save it with a little cough. “er- i mean yeah.” and he laughs again, knowing you were trying to play it cool. you feel heat creep onto your cheeks, flushed and a little embarrassed. “okay i’ll come over”
“great” you say quietly and fondly. “i should be over by five, is that okay?” you shake your head but remus isn’t there to see it. “yes i can’t wait to see you.” you state, with a smile. “i can’t wait to see you dove, i’ll see you later.”
and you blush, happy remus also can’t wait to see you. and love’s spending time with you. “i’ll see you.” the phone call ends, you sigh and mentally jab at yourself, you were supposed to play it cool. instead you embarrassed yourself. you were a fool in love.
“you're a cowboy like me; perched in the dark. telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear. like it could be love. i could be the way forward, only if they pay for it. you're a bandit like me, eyes full of stars. hustling for the good life. never thought i'd meet you here. it could be love. we could be the way forward. and i know i'll pay for it.”
it’s later in the day, almost night. you and remus are laying together in your bed, limbs tangled together. holding onto one another. it’s been a long day, and you wanted remus to stay the night. not really wanting to part from him.
it’s quiet, a comfortable quiet, which you always enjoy when you're with remus. but you have this feeling to get off your chest. you enjoy remus and his company. and you’re in love with him but you're scared. you’ve never really been in love with anyone like this.
“remus if we fall in love, i’m going to pay for it.” you state intensely. not really knowing why you’re telling him this.
remus laughs looking down at you, a little puzzled by your intense claim. “what do you mean?”
and you look up to him, he has a lazy smile and kind eyes. “it’s either i’m going to get my heart broken by you or i’m going to fall madly in love with you either way i’m going to pay for it.”
it’s silent for a moment, the moment now feeling heavy. you ruined it you thought. but his lazy smile turns bright and his cheeks turn a little red while he pulls you as close to him as he can “well i hope you pay for the later.”
“and the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up. and the old men that i've swindled really did believe i was the one. and the ladies lunching have their stories about when you passed through town, but that was all before i locked it down.”
remus invited you to come to sirius’ party, you were excited. the party so far was okay, nothing too crazy. you met some of remus’ friends and saw a few old ones as well. and had a few drinks here and there. not really feeling up to socializing, you stand by remus side as he talks to a few people.
“so you’re remus’ new girlfriend?” you turn and see sadie, a girl you used to go to school with; she was one of remus ex girlfriends. “yeah she is”, remus answers for you, turning to look at you and sadie.
“oh! well it probably won’t last.” she says it lamely, as if she’s bored with this topic already.
you utter a confused “what “ as remus glares at sadie, warning her. she doesn’t notice remus stare or she simply doesn’t care she laughs and turns to you with a wide open smile.
“remus never keeps a girlfriend around long.” she jokes, with a laugh that seems a little too fake. “he gets bored, don’t you rem?” you look over at remus with concern. “sure, sadie.” he says curtly, as he grabs your hand leading you somewhere else to sit and talk.
you’re trying really hard to not let sadie get into your head, but it was really hard. what had she meant by remus doesn’t keep girlfriends around long? does she mean remus doesn’t want anything that’s long term? or doesn’t like anything too serious? will he cut you off when things are too serious? you hope that’s not the case.
remus leads you outside the house to the backyard, he takes a seat on the ground and tilts his head up to you raising an eyebrow, asking you to join him. you sit down besides him.
“are you okay?” he asks while grabbing your hand holding it. you reassure him with a small “i’m fine” he looks at you for a moment and you can’t indicate what he’s thinking. “are you sure?” he asks again, you sigh not wanting to pick a fight with him about your overthinking thoughts. “remus just let it be.” your tone sounds a little agitated, and mean. you can see remus is taken back by it.
“you’re acting like a child.” he shakes his head, his arms crossing in front of his chest, his eyes narrowing at you, quickly adding, “is this about what sadie said?” you go quiet for a moment, knowing it was. sadie got into your head about your relationship with remus. the silence answered remus' question. he scoffs at you. “it is.”
“re-“ before you can explain how you feel remus interrupts you. “this is ridiculous.” he’s scolding you as if you're a child, his voice is low and a little cruel. he gets up from the ground and turns his back towards you walking back into the house leaving you outside alone.
“now you hang from my lips, like the gardens of babylon. with your boots beneath my bed forever is the sweetest con.”
it’s been a few days since your argument with remus. you haven’t seen or heard from him. after your argument with remus you just decided to leave the party, you didn’t have the guts to see remus after and you weren’t in a partying mood. these past few days you wonder if you officially messed things up with remus. he hasn’t called or texted, but you haven’t exactly called or texted him either, you’re a little scared to. you don’t want what you have with remus to end. but you want to talk to remus.
grabbing your phone and calling remus you wait with anticipation, hoping he’ll answer your call. the phone rings for a while until it stops and it’s silent for a moment.
“hello?” you sigh in relief as remus answers the call. and you’re silent trying to figure out what to say. “dove are you there?” remus comes to your rescue, ending the silence for you.
“remus, i miss you.” you finally manage to word out. you’re nervous he’s still mad at you.
“i missed you too.” he quickly follows up with you, and your nerves ease down.
“i’m sorry.” and you are, you should’ve talked to remus at the party. “i’m sorry for leaving and not talking to you, it was mean” you quickly add explaining your apology.
“you don’t have to be sorry love, i’m sorry for not hearing you out.. and for being short with you.” remus assures you. “can you come over please?” you ask softly, missing remus. “of course.” you both say goodbye to each other and end the phone call with a smile on your face.
“i've had some tricks up my sleeve, takes one to know one; you're a cowboy like me. and I'm never gonna love again.”
you fell in love with remus, it wasn’t a one time thing or another short term relationship just like your previous relationships. you’re happy where you are now with him, sitting on the couch humming to music that’s playing. as one song ends and another starts to play. remus goes to stand. “y/n dance with me?” he reaches for your hand and you instantly grab it.
“i’m not good at dancing.” you claim, nervously, looking up at remus. “that’s okay, i’ll teach you.” remus places your hands where they need to be placed and starts to sway slowly to the music.
you stay like that for a moment, dancing with remus. you look up towards him with a small, shy smile. “remus, i’m never gonna love again.” and he could barely hear it, your voice small and quiet but he heard it. “meaning?” he chuckles a little to himself holding you tighter, while dancing. “i’ve fallen hopelessly in love with you. i’m never going to love anyone like this again.” you say softly as you both continue to sway yourselves to the end of the song.

You have some awesome friendship fics when Remus and Lily do manis and go shopping. Have you thought of one where Remus is there when Lily gets her wedding dress or she is there to get him fitted for his suit for his own wedding. Or the same with James/Sirius although I’m not sure how that would work with Reg.
Tumblr media
Fic O'Ween Day 2: Candle Wax to continue the excellent friendship vibes from yesterday. Big fest thanks to @noots-fic-fests and character credit goes to @lumosinlove.
TW brief mention of alcohol
“Give it a spin.”
“…I don’t want to.”
“Then put it back.”
“What if it’s the one?”
Remus’ entire face scrunched with a frown in the mirror behind her. “Lily,” he began, with as much concern as if she had just told him the sky was actually emerald green. “Why would you buy a wedding dress you don’t want to spin in?”
“He’s right,” Natalie chimed in, swirling her rosé with a critical glance over Lily’s skirt. “You deserve better.”
“What if—”
“Literally your one requirement was to be able to spin, babygirl.”
Lily studied herself in the mirror again. The dress was pretty and creamy and light around her legs. The bow at the back wasn’t bad, perhaps a little oversized, but that could be fixed. It was already five o’clock, anyway. Two hours should be more than enough time to find a wedding dress.
“You don’t like it,” Remus said gently.
“No,” she sighed. “Not that much.”
“Then try a different one.”
Natalie brightened. “Yeah, what about that off-the-shoulder number? With the sweetheart neckline?”
Lily tipped her head back and forth. “My tits were falling out.”
“Exactly.”
“You do love when James makes a fool of himself,” Remus added.
The fabric slid in a smooth cascade beneath her palms. Probably damp palms. Was it alright for her to touch this fabric when she was nervous? Why was she nervous, anyway? It was her wedding. Her James. Natalie was right—she deserved the dress of her dreams. Lily knew her dreams better than anyone else and always had, through Petunia, through her Master’s, through a whole-ass baby. A dress should be the easiest thing in the world to choose.
“You liked the flowers, right?” Remus suggested, picking at the edge of his phone case. “On the…what was it, the third one?”
“The fourth.” Natalie nodded. “That’s the one with the sweetheart neckline.”
It was a nice dress. And she did like the florals. “Yeah, I guess.”
“Never mind.”
“What?”
“You’re not getting a ‘yeah, I guess’ dress,” Natalie said firmly. “Fuck that. You’re getting an ‘oh my god, I love this, I’m going to make every single guest cream their pants when they see me’ dress.”
“I—”
“What did you like about them?” Remus asked. “The other dresses.”
“I…” Lily trailed off. Her raw inner lip pinched when she nibbled at it. Jesus, her palms really did feel fucking soaked. “I don’t like this fabric. Or the bow. I liked the flowers from the other dress, but I want them smaller. The buttons on the bodice were nice.”
“Remind me what the bodice is?” she heard Remus whisper.
“The top,” Natalie whispered back before raising her voice again. “How about you take that thing off and we look together, hon? Three pairs of eyes are better than one.”
The surge of relief in her belly was a surprise, but not unwelcome. Lily examined the way it lay against her thighs for a moment longer before pursing her lips. “I don’t know, you guys have better things to—”
Immediate protests—far too loud for the pristine establishment—burst from both. “I’m not listening to that,” Remus warned. “Nuh-uh. This is a Lily day and I have the calendar invite to prove it.”
Natalie watched her in the mirror with a dangerous arch to her eyebrow. “You gave me rosé, my hot bestie, and pretty clothes to look at. Don’t take this from me. Now, tell us where to go and we will be your little wedding minions for as long as your heart desires.”
Lily loved her. Dearly. She glanced back once more and caught Remus’ eye, and his encouraging smile. “Calendar invite?”
“Midnight to midnight, Evans.”
“Florals, buttons, and something I can sweat in. Oh, and spin.” She shook her head. “Why did I pick a July wedding?”
Natalie stood and placed her hands on Lily’s shoulders, leaving them nearly eye-to-eye with the help of the pedestal beneath her. Her palms were pleasantly cool on Lily’s overheated skin. “Because you can’t fucking wait to marry James Potter, you utter legend.”
--
Two hours.
Fourteen more dresses.
Lily rolled a fine satin petal between her fingertips, dragged her palms up her waist, down over her belly, across the swell of her thighs. The pale green chiffon faded to blush and back in loose waves over the solid ivory beneath. She rested her weight on her other side and followed the tender shimmer where the light caught each movement. The straps were broad, yet elegant—fawn-colored buttons tracked from the valley of her chest to the top of the skirt, where small flowers had been stitched in rows that dripped through the folds like warm candle wax.
“She looks so fucking gorgeous, I’m gonna cry.”
“I know. Jesus. That’s gotta be it.”
“Did you find that one?”
“Mhmm.”
“Nice, Lupin. Hook it up.” A soft high-five interrupted their muttering. “Can you pick out my wedding dress?”
“Propose to Bliz first. Then we can talk.”
“What do you think?” Lily called over her shoulder. She didn’t bother looking away from the mirror; she looked too good for that.
“Stellar as always, Lils,” Remus answered with a firm thumbs-up.
“Creaming myself as we speak,” Natalie chimed in. “Honestly, babe, you’re beautiful beyond belief. The dress just makes it even clearer.”
She gave a little sway to watch it ripple around her ankles—Remus’ sharp whistle made her jump, though it soon turned to laughter. He drummed his hands on either side of the armchair. “Come on, come on, do the spin—oh, there she goes!”
Natalie whooped. “Throw that ass in a circle, baby! You and me are getting down at that reception.”
A blush heated Lily’s face and neck as she laughed, still spinning, but it looked—fuck, it looked so pretty when Lily caught herself in the mirror again. The dappled colors of the dress warmed her away from fire-engine red, highlighting the pinks of her skin and auburn of her hair where it fell over her shoulder. I want pictures of this, she thought. I want a photo album of pictures where I’m in this dress, and I want James Potter to cry when he sees me in it. “I look so hot right now.”
“You so do,” Remus agreed. They were both leaning forward in their chairs, hands clasped. Lily briefly imagined asking them to find her another dress, just to watch them goggle at her.
But she wasn’t sure she’d take this one off for a million dollars.
“Is it…” Natalie pressed her lips together, eyes gleaming. “Lily?”
She was nodding before the words even began to come out. “This is my wedding dress.”
“Yes!”
“This is my fucking Stanley Cup, oh my god.” Natalie held both hands to her cheeks and turned to Remus, bouncing on her toes. “Oh my god, oh my god, wedding dress—”
“Wedding, wedding, wedding, Lily don’t you dare make us celebrate without you—”
Lily laughed and gathered the skirt up off the floor; it was only a short step to the ground before they were on her with all the force of an ecstatic hurricane. Natalie’s arms were a vice around her waist while Remus held them both and pressed a smacking kiss to the top of her head. She hoped this bodice had proper boning, because her chest was simply going to explode with the light radiating inside her.
“I’m so happy for you,” Remus mumbled against the side of her head. “And I’m so excited, and you look so pretty, and I’m so proud of you.”
Natalie was there in half a second to brush her thumbs over Lily’s cheekbones and ease the lump in her throat. “Look at you,” she whispered, beaming. “Look at you!”
“I know.” She laughed again and it came out a bit choked. Natalie made a small, sympathetic sound as Remus pulled a pack of tissues from his back pocket, but Lily waved them off with a few fast blinks. “God, it’s—happy tears, I promise. I’m so happy. Can I get married tonight?”
“Yes,” they chorused.
Remus nodded, still offering the tissues. “Say the word, I’ll call James right now. I think he wanted to get married the night of the Cup.”
“Only took him eight years to ask,” Lily grumbled.
Their burst of laughter made several people across the store glance over, reducing them to hushed giggling in the best huddle Lily had ever been part of.
--
Soft, pastel thread bumped beneath James’ thumb as he ran it along the cuff on his suit. The pockets and lapels held much of the same—microscopic flowers, leaves, and patterns stitched into matte black fabric under Lily’s incredibly cryptic guidance.
“Looks damn good.”
“Ahblahablah!”
James tilted his shoulders this way and that. There had to be some square inch he was missing. Nothing in the world could possibly be this right. Then again, he was marrying Lily Evans, and that was pretty damn perfect. “D’you think her dress matches the suit?”
Sirius’ eyes flickered to the ground for a half-second. “…probably.”
“You’ve seen it?”
“Maybe.”
Something in James’ stomach gave a funny swoop. A Lily swoop. “How did she look?”
Sirius’ laugh made Harry squeal around the fistful of t-shirt (definitely Remus’) he had shoved in his mouth. “Dude,” Sirius said, shaking his head. “You’re going to lose your mind.”

My Greatest Love, My Greater Enemy
James Potter x F!Reader
endgame is Remus x Reader but it’s still James centric for the angst. I love that trope where one falls first but the other falls harder yet it’s too late to do anything about it. Not proofread, oops
Tumblr media
No one tells you when it’s too late how much it hurts. No one warns you of the pain in your heart when it happens. No one tells you that you’ll spend many days and nights worrying about why it happened. No one does…
Her eyes followed his as he looked across the hall at her. The way his smile changed from being subtle to a full blown grin. Yet she didn’t falter remembering his mischievous nature.
But it didn’t stop her from comparing herself to Lily Evans. The redhead was an image that lingered in her mind at night. Sometimes she took up too much space and all she could think about was how much it would hurt if he loved her.
Though that thought was just an idea one that wasn’t true until it was. As she sat in the common room beside her friend she couldn’t think of anything to say. But he could, he always could when she was around.
It was a bittersweet feeling being happy for someone while also dreading that you weren’t the reason for it. Though it was her own fault she never had the right words to use. She never knew how to tell him just how much he meant to her.
Until it was too late.
Standing in front of James she looked anywhere but at him. The confession still fresh on her tongue as she waited for him to say something, anything really. But as her eyes found their way back up to his face he looked worried.
It took everything in her not to crack a smile and tell him it was just a joke. But she knew better than that, he would know better than that.
“I’m sorry dove, but I just don’t feel the same.”
Those words when he spoke them didn’t hurt as much as she thought. Maybe it was the way he looked at her as if she would break on the spot. Or the way he said those words as if she was fragile and needed to be held onto.
“It’s okay, Jamie.”
Tumblr media
He found it odd the way his heart sank when she didn’t hang off every word he said. How she no longer waited for him after quidditch practice to tell him he did well. Or even when she would offer him one of her many baked goods because she was curious of the taste.
But what he found the strangest is how his heart ached when she began to do those things with someone else. He wasn’t upset when she hung off of every word Remus said or how she would sit in the common room and read with him. Or even how she would go up to Remus and offer him those same baked goods.
What he felt for Lily was spurred on by his many years of playfulness. But what he felt for her was something much more what he felt for her made his heart pound in his chest.
It left him anticipating seeing the way she would laugh to herself when she read. How her eyes held a tiny hint of mischief when he would talk about pulling a prank with the other marauders. But most of all he just missed having her treat him the way she used to.
But he was too late as he watched Remus kiss her forehead as she handed him a cookie. The look in their eyes was mutual and it pained him even more. It continuously reminded him of how his eyes were filled with something different when she confessed to him.
Hesitation.
‘If only’ rang deep in his mind as he finally looked away from them snuggled up together. In another universe he would probably be laughing and smiling and nothing bad would have happened to them. But in this universe he had no one but himself to blame for hesitating.
But oh how the universe will always be his greatest friend and his biggest enemy.
Tumblr media
Expect a Regulus, James, and Robin Buckley fix soon. I have three or four lined up. I also have a few requests to get to before I do a few more smut fics

If Severus had been a girl, her story would have been mostly the same as canon, except that the Marauders maybe wouldn't have been so harsh with their bullying because "she wasn't a threat to James' crush on Lily" and "she's just a girl, girls are fragile". However, she would have still been in love with her and James knew that, so he still despised her, thinking she was holding Lily back from him.
Now unto my personal headcanons (because they fit and they make me happy):
- Fem! Severus wouldn't have shared a room with Mulciber and Avery, so she would have befriended her female roommates instead. I believe the fanaticism for the Death Eaters cult was more prominent in boys than girls, because society expected them to stay at home and raise more purebloods than participate in battles. However, she would've still hung out with them because they shared the same interest for Dark Arts.
-Her roommates would be Dorcas Meadow, Pandora Rosier (Evan Rosier's cousin) and Theresa Flint (the last one is an oc of mine)
- She would be a tomboy for the first few years, having her hair cut short and wear the male uniform instead of the female one. Partly because she's used to wearing boy clothes and partly to avoid embarrassing pranks from the Marauders. Due to this, she's often mistaken for a boy and fits in better with her male classmates.
- She knows wizards are more respected that witches, so she strives to imitate a masculine appearance to earn that (at first). It's not a case of "I'm not like other girls". She wants to survive.
- She's been infatuated with Lily since they met, but this crush wears off as Snape sees Lily's selfishness and hypocrisy. By the time their friendship is over, Snape is already disillusioned with her but still tries to hold into their old bond out of emotional attachment rather than love.
- She faced her own prejudice and hardships in Slytherin for being a poor half-blood, with a disgraced pureblood mother. She only earned her place when she showed off her talent and bested a few of her housemates. Basically, she had to win fights, physical and magical, against her own housemates until they deemed she deserved to be in Slytherin.
-In canon, Lucius took Snape under his wing and treated him like a brother in Hogwarts. In this, it's Narcissa who sees the potential in Snape and practically adopts her, and Lucius follows her example. Thanks to the older girl, Snape experiences nice clothes and good school tools for the first time. Narcissa is quite her sugar mommyl, but Snape is also her pet project.
- She's a bit of "one of the boys", although they're not really friends until fourth year. The boys were Mulciber, Avery, Wilkes and Rosier. They accepted her because they didn't really consider her a girl and they begrudgingly respected her skills. It was a mutual understanding that they used each other for their own benefits, Snape helping them with her intellect and spells while they helped her into getting assimilated with the other Slytherins. As they grew and got to know Snape beyond her blood status, they became protective of her and started to cherish her truly as a friend (althought Rosier took it to another level)
-Which brings us to my next headcanon. In my au, Rosier and Snape had a nice connection on first year when they sat together during History of Magic. He's one of the few that was welcoming of Snape since the start and always treated her like an equal. She's very fond of him because of it, and they grow to be very close friends.
-Regulus still looked up to her when they were students. He didn't trust her at first, because of her blood status and all, but seeing she had Narcissa's favour, he decided to look past it. And after witnessing her talent, he decided he wanted to learn more about her, so he began to follow her around to know her better. Snape was annoyed initially, but she eventually appreciated his company.
-She showed some genuine kindness to Barty Crouch Jr on his first year at Hogwarts, and the boy latched unto her like an eager puppy since then. That's how he befriended Regulus, with both of them following her around so often.
-They were both her little brothers, her precious babies, who couldn't do nothing wrong even if they tried. She was patient and permissive with them in a way she definitely wasn't with her other friends.
-She's the brain of the group, so she's usually saving their asses from the consequences of their actions (Mulciber, Avery and Wilkers) and helping them with their schemes (Dorcas, Rosier and Narcissa).
-In her desire to remain in Lily's life and have the girl's love, Snape repressed herself and kept her Slytherin friends at arms' length, which caused many arguments. When she and Lily had that fallout, Snape fully embraced her identity and, in return, her housemates embraced her too, as if they had been waiting for her.
-She was a natural Occlumens, unconsciously developing her ability while she learnt to mask her feelings and thoughts, product of the abuse and harassment she went throught.
-Her boggart used to be her father, Tobias Snape, but after "the prank", it became a werewolf instead.
-After what happened in the Shrieking Sack, she inmersed herself in researchs about lycanthropy and possible cures in order to forget her fear.
-When she experimented with potions, she tried them first on small animals, mostly rats and birds. Then bigger animals, like owls and cats. And lately, in the final phase of testing, she tried them on herself. Only her friends knew about this practise, since Snape made them promise to not tell a soul, since she didn't trust the Hogwarts staff to be understanding about it.
-When something goes wrong on the final test, she heals in the privacy of her bed while her friends take care of her, lying to the teachers that she's sick. They dread this practise of hers, since they can't stand seeing her in pain, but also had mad respect for her because of it.
-She was a control freak, obsessively cleaning and arranging her stuff with systems only she understands. She always knew when someone touched her things, just by seeing them moved the slighest bit to the different position she left them. Her housemates knew better than disrupt her order.
-Her talent with potions surpassed even Slughorn himself, but he preferred to praise Lily because her looks and attitude fit more in his club. He came to regret that decision years later, but Snape knows how to keep grudges.
-She considered Mulciber, Avery, Dorcas, Pandora, Rosier, Regulus and Barty her closest friends within Slytherin. The rest were just acquaintances. She was also close to Aurora Sinistra, from Ravenclaw, and Charity Burbage, from Hufflepuff.
-She and Charity danced around the lines separating friendship from romance for a while, but Snape wasn't ready for that step and Charity moved on. They remained good friends.
-She was a raging bisexual, because obviously.
-She didn't support the Death Eaters' beliefs, but she really looked up to the figure of Lord Voldemort. A poor half-blood like her, who paved his way to the top of the hierarchy with his charms, wit and power, making all the pureblood families submit to him. He was everything she aspired to be, everything she wanted to have. However, she soon realized her vision didn't exactly match reality...
And that's all. I have more but I wrote too much already. I'm on a hyperfixation, so I'll definitely write more about her in the future.
Feel free to tell me your own ideas or headcanons. I'll love to discuss them.
Tagging @love-the-purple-cat because she's also a fem! Snape stan. She has an amazing au, so go and check her!

Part 3 of Let them be | 1.9K words
> Part 2 | Part 4 <
Let people want both
Remus, James and Peter were outside already, waiting for Sirius to join them to go to Hogsmead. Remus was getting impatient (it was getting close to that time of the month), it was unbelievable the amount of time someone could take to get ready. They always expected him to take longer, hence why not waiting at the dorm. But that day Padfoot was taking especially long.
Lupin's frown became something else entirely. Thin lips parted, brown eyes wide and cheeks most certainly darker than usual. Siri looked absolutely gorgeous, hot, perfect.
"Looking good Pads!" Prongs greeted the last marauder with his usual cheerful grin. But he didn't have the tall boy's slightest attention.
"You think?"
"Yeah! Girl day?" Sirius hummed affirmatively and got closer. Fuck did he she look even better.
"Where did you get the clothes?" The short blond boy was still getting used to the whole gender thing, but it had gotten better since the protest they did for Regulus.
"Well, Marlene gave me the skirt, said it's a tad too big on her. The top is mine but I cut it to be cropped. Not bad, I'd say. Definitely not the straightest but it's me after all. And I don't know, it gives it a grungy style. The fishnets are Mary's. I was expecting it to be uncomfortable but it's not, really. The accessories are all mine except for the bracelet, which is also Marlene's. The boots are mine, obviously. It would be fun to maybe get heels at one point but I don't think they exist in my size."
"You can always try spells. You look wicked, anyway!" Potter turned to Remus, who was very much panicking on the inside. "Y'alright, Moony?"
"Huh? Oh- yeah, yeah." Was that suspicious? He was quite collected in general but something about that man - or woman, person, didn't really matter - made him feral. He wanted Sirius to be his. He needed it. But he was far too awkward and shy to ever make a move. I mean, what if it ruined their friendship?
"Look!" Pads lifted her rectangle black sunglasses to show an amazing eye look (not that Remus knew much about makeup) that made her grey eyes pop. "I did it myself! Lily has been teaching me how to make different looks with makeup."
"You're on a first name basis, now? You're not stealing Evans from me, Pads, are you?" He squinted as if threatening, not that he would ever hurt his best friend.
"No, don't worry. I'm still very much into blokes."
"Good. Anyone you got your eyes on?"
"Maybe. Maybe not." Suddenly focused on the conversation, a million thoughts raced through Rem's head. Did Padfoot have a crush? Who could it be?
"Secretive. I'm onto you, Pads. And how about you Moony? We all know Pete is devoted to the Ravenclaw boy-"
"Merlin! I've told you already, Benjy and I are just friends."
"Sure." Round glasses turned to Moony, who, for once, was feeling somewhat brave.
"I guess you could say I fancy someone." He hoped to get a reaction from said person.
"Ooooo! Who is she?" This was his moment.
"Why are you assuming it's a girl?" There it was. Pads looked up, interest peaked. It could only be from curiosity, she always enjoyed some drama. Or maybe, hopefully, it could be deeper than that.
"Am I the only straight person here?"
"Well I'm not gay, because I don't fancy Benjy. I don't fancy anyone." Poor Pete. James wouldn't leave him alone about it, constantly teasing.
"Whatever you say, Wormy. Who's this person, Moony?"
"Ain't telling." He was feeling brave and maybe even impulsive. But not even the full moon made him an idiot.
"Aww, come on! Why don't you lot tell me anything?!"
"Perhaps because you're extremely obvious and embarrassing." He did have a point. Although that wasn't the reason in this case.
"Awn, do I embarrass you in front of eagle boy?"
"You're insufferable!" Potter chuckled, deciding it was enough teasing.
"Well, where we off to first? Zonko's?"
"We should go there last. We will need quite a lot of things, we're running out of stock for pranks."
"What would we do without you, Moony?" Get in a lot more detentions, that's for sure. "Three broomsticks?"
They all agreed and went to the pub, ordering butterbeer. After a while of talking about nothings, Peter got up.
"I have to go for a bit."
"Meeting a certain someone whose name starts with a B?"
"Sod off, Potter. I'll see you later." He was barely out the door when James got up too.
"Oh shit! I also need to go. I want to buy Lily some flowers. See if this time she'll accept going on a date. Sorry mates." He took some coins from his pockets (most of them galleons, rich prick) and messily left them on the table. "Uh this should cover some of the drinks. I'll meet you at Zonko's in like 30, yeah?"
"Just go, lover boy."
"Thank you, you're the best!" And then it was just them. It's not like they were never alone, but it was especially hard to focus when Sirius looked like a hot rockstar. No matter where Lupin looked, he could easily get flustered. Face? Amazing makeup that he wanted to kiss. Top? You could see her abs under the crop. Bottom? Obviously the mini skirt. There was no way out.
"You seem distracted."
"Hm? Do I?" Fuck.
"Yes. Is it because of the person you fancy?"
"Maybe." Absolutely.
"I didn't know you were bi." The lanky boy just shrugged, afraid to say something stupid. "Do I know him?"
"You know everyone."
"You know what I mean." Another non answer, a sip of the butterbeer that was near the end. "Do you know if he's gay? Or bi or whatever."
"He is."
"What does he look like?" They were getting into dangerous territory. There weren't many males at hogwarts with fucking grey eyes. Join the long black hair and it was a given.
"Why the interrogation? You also didn't give us much closure."
"Ask me things, then." He pondered. He desperately wanted to find out if Padfoot had any interest in the boy across from her.
"Do you fancy someone?"
"I do." Could be anyone.
"What's his house?"
"Gryffindor, of course. I have high standards, Moons." Siri was the only person that called him that. Got this man on his knees every time.
"I mean you dated a Ravenclaw."
"Shhhh we don't talk about him."
"Right." Brown eyebrows came together "Is it- is it James?" It made sense. They were always together, after all. And Potter was always complimenting his best mate.
"Prongs?! Fuck no! He's my brother. Why? You don't fancy him, do you…?"
"No, no!" Different Marauder.
"What's his house?"
"Also Gryffindor. What does your crush look like?" It could go downhill from there very fast.
"Brown hair. Brown eyes." Matched… "Bad sense of style." Listen. Remus didn't have a bad sense of style. He just liked to be comfortable. Although he could be the one in the description since Black said he looked like a grandfather.
Before Rem could answer, probably ask something that was more specific, a crash and shouts were heard a few tables over.
"Let's go somewhere else?"
"Sounds good."
After paying, Moony awkwardly followed his crush to a secluded area in the street.
"How about you? What does your crush look like?"
"Dark hair…" Pads hummed, encouraging to continue. "Light eyes…" Bastard was smirking. Smirking at the pink cheeks across the scarred face.
"I see…" She got close. Very close. "You know, Lupin. I couldn't help but notice you get particularly shy whenever I'm wearing a skirt. Any reason?" He didn't say anything. I mean, what was he supposed to say? Sirius obviously knew the answer already. "I'd say you simply like short skirts but I don't see you staring at other girls like that." His cheeks matched the colour of their house and he could be playing quidditch with how fast his heart was beating. "What is it, Remy?"
"Siri…" His voice was pleading, his eyes were pleading, his heart was pleading, he was on his knees and she was well aware of that.
"No no." She took his chin and made him look into those grey eyes. "Say it."
"I…" Shit, he was nervous. "I… like you…"
"Was that so hard? If all I needed to do to get you to like me back was to wear a skirt, I would've protested a lot sooner."
"It's not since the skirt… It's been longer." The Black smirk. Annoying and hot. He just wanted to kiss it, aware the bold red lipstick would get smudged on both of them.
"Remus John Lupin, you fool." And just like that, their lips met. Pale arms around the taller one's neck. Moony put his arms around her and pulled her closer, feeling her bare skin and melting into the kiss.
Merlin knows how long the kissing lasted. Time didn't exist between those two. After what seemed like an eternity and yet not enough, they parted.
"You have some lipstick on you." She chuckled and cleaned some of it with her finger. "I'm making it worse…"
"That's okay. I'll wash my face."
"Woooooo!" Turning around, there was a short Filipino blondie cheering them, holding hands with her dark skinned girlfriend. "Fucking finally! You better tell me the details, Black!"
"Fine! Now sod off Mckinnon!" She laughed and pulled Dorcas, walking away. "Well…"
"I uh… I'll wash my face at the pub."
"I'll walk with you." The silence was a tad awkward. At least to Remus. His crush took his hand and broke the ice. "So, since when do you fancy me?"
"I'm not sure… A year, maybe? You?"
"Awww really? You should have come out sooner. I've liked you since fourth year. Never made a move because I thought you were straight. And even after the protest, I wasn't sure if you just found me attractive because I look like a girl."
"No, I like you when you're masculine too. The skirt just… I don't know, has a different effect. Wait here?"
"Is my lipstick smudged?"
"A bit."
"I'll go too." They went back to the pub they had left some minutes ago. Pads went to the girl's bathroom while Remus cleaned his face and grinned at the mirror in the men's. When they met again, the red lips were as lively as before. They stained Moony, the shape of a kiss on his left cheek. "Sorry. Had to."
It had been over 30 minutes since James left to fetch Lily a gift. So naturally, he and Pettigrew were already waiting at Zonko's.
"There they are! Where were you two- Is that lipstick?!" The werewolf blushed and looked down while his partner held up their hands grinning.
"We're dating!"
"What?! You were each other's crushes?!" Wormtail shook his head.
"You are so oblivious, Prongs."
"Wha- You knew?!"
"Everyone with eyes and some common sense knows those two have been pining over each other. Congrats on figuring it out, it was getting painful to watch."
"Wormtail!" Pads gasped dramatically, her hand over her chest. "How could you stay quiet?"
"Wasn't my place to say anything. And it was quite entertaining to watch how stupid you both were." Sirius seemed offended, but Remus couldn't help but find the whole situation hilarious.

@wolfstarmicrofic March 26 – prompt 26: Amortentia – word count 946
Amortentia - The world’s strongest love potion, does not create love but obsession
Remus had feared that particular Potions lesson since the smile on Slughorn’s face when he had announced it.
“Of course, Amortentia’s use is forbidden, and its brewing strictly restricted, therefore you will not learn how to make it,” the Professor had said. “I will brew it personally and you will smell it, because its smell is not only different for everyone but it  also corresponds to the smell of the person you’re most attracted to.”
There had been whispers in the classroom, and the few established couples in their year had smiled at each other.
“Yes, yes, you think you’ll have it easy,” Slughorn had chuckled. “But I’ve seen my fair share of people smelling something completely unexpected in Amortentia, so be warned!”
So now they were gathered around a fuming cauldron, their faces in various degrees of anxiousness.
“Well, come on!” Slughorn clapped his hands. “Who’s first? Mr Potter, be brave! After all, your love for Ms Evans is no secret to anyone!”
James grimaced, but he moved closer to the cauldron all the same.
“I smell…” he took a deep breath. “I smell the Library. And the Quidditch pitch in the sun and…” he hesitated. “Mint tea.”
Remus frowned. He knew Lily’s scent better than anyone thanks the the wolf’s nose, but none of those things belonged to her. He shot a look at James, who immediately looked at his feet.
“Ms McKinnon.”
“I, uhm,” Marlene went beet-red. “Coffee, pencils and peaches.”
“Interesting, wonder who that could be?” Sirius chuckled.
Even Remus remembered that glorious day when Dorcas Meadowes had shown up to the Gryffindor Quidditch team practice and Marlene had flown right into a goalpost when Dorcas had bitten into one of the peaches she had brought along.
“Now now, Mr Black, we don’t tease our classmates about Amortentia,” Slughorn smiled. “You never know what’s in store for you! Ms MacDonald, please.”
Remus swallowed. He knew perfectly well what would happen the second he got a closer whiff of the potion. He would smell leather, or cigarettes, or the firewhiskey he had drunk at that party when Sirius had ended up sitting in his lap and he had realised he was stupidly, desperately and hopelessly in love with him. He would have to lie about it to the whole class.
“Summer breeze, books and… leather?” Mary groaned. “Oh, come on!”
“I know, I’m unforgettable,” Sirius winked at her.
“And to smell like books you would have to open one,” Mary retorted.
Peter was next. He took a deep breath, got suddenly pale, then turned bright red and stumbled back.
“Are you quite alright, Mr Pettigrew?”
“Is it possible to smell more than one person, Professor?” Peter whispered.
“Ah. Yes, it’s happened before. Attraction is variable and not even magic can always determine if there’s only one person for you. What did you smell?”
“Roses, violets and lemons.”
Remus recognised the perfumes Peter’s last three girlfriends had worn and he looked at James. Maybe even what he had smelled belonged to multiple people.
“Mr Lupin, go ahead.”
Remus’s stomach twisted and he braced himself getting closer to the cauldron. But none of the smells he had thought about filled his nose. Instead, other things came up and none were Sirius’s smell.
“Well, Mr Lupin?”
Remus stepped back. He didn’t even have to lie then.
“Fireplace ash, late night rain and gingerbread,” he said.
He looked across the room to Sirius. Sirius was staring back, wide-eyed and pale as a ghost. Remus was about to say something when Sirius stumbled back and suddenly ran out of the classroom. Without even thinking, Remus ran after him. He ran along the dungeon corridors and up the stairs, into the main corridor and almost colliding against Regulus rounding a corner.
“What’s gotten into you two?” Regulus exclaimed, barely managing to not spill his tea.
“Where’s Sirius?”
“Outside, but-”
Remus didn’t stay to hear the rest of the sentence. As he ran towards the castle door, the wolf’s nose registered the smell coming from Regulus’s tea. Mint.
He finally caught up with Sirius at the lake.
“Padfoot?” he panted.
“What you smelled in the Amortentia…” Sirius’s voice was shaking.
“I don’t even know what it was…”
“I do.”
Sirius turned around. His eyes were glistening with tears, and Remus’s heart dropped as he fought with all he had the urge to get closer and take him in his arms and kiss him until he felt better.
“It had just rained the night I ran from my parents’ house,” Sirius said slowly. “When I fell into the Potters’ fireplace Effie had just gotten gingerbread out of the oven.”
“How could I smell your memories, Pads?” Remus whispered.
“Maybe Amortentia works differently on a wolf’s nose. But why did you smell mine specifically, Moony?”
Remus’s shoulders slumped. How he wished now he had smelt what he had prepared himself to and lied about it.
“I…”
“Before class started I sneaked in as Padfoot,” Sirius murmured. “I wanted to see if I smelt something different as a dog.”
“And?”
“I smelled you,” Sirius looked up at him.
Remus’s heart skipped a beat.
“You did?” he breathed. “And what did you smell as you?”
Sirius took a step forward, bringing them so close Remus could almost count all of his eyelashes.
“I don’t care,” he said. “As Padfoot I didn’t smell just things that reminded me of you, Moony. I smelled all of you. I think that’s proof enough.”
Remus started to nod, but then he moved, or Sirius did or they both did and half a second later they were kissing, hanging on each other as if their lives depended on it.

(Hot Sirius Charming Everyone😋)
Petunia was already not best pleased that her younger sister got to invite not only her new boyfriend, but also those other freaks from her school to the Evans' Christmas celebration. It gets worse when Petunia's own friends are all over Lily's handsome friend.
Wherever You Go, You Light Up the Room
Christmas Without You - Ava Max
Petunia was actually quite excited at first.
Her parents are hosting a lovely Christmas celebration back at their home in Cokeworth, and encouraged Petunia to invite as much people as she wanted.
Petunia finished high school earlier this year and is now working as a secretary, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to invite her new co-workers, to get to know them better outside of work. She might even have invited her boss.
Petunia gets along great with her boss, and things between them are really picking up steam. Just last week, Mr Dursley had told her she looked very presentable, and the other day, he had almost called her ‘Petunia’ instead of ‘Ms Evans’. In return, Petunia had added two cookies instead of one when she brought him his coffee. She still blushes and giggles sometimes just thinking about how forward she has been!
And oh, Vernon Dursley is just such a proper man! Predictable, dependable, and oh, so delightfully normal! With Petunia’s younger sister always having been ‘the special one’, Petunia has resigned to being the normal one, embraced it even, and she’s going to be not just normal, but perfectly normal. Making her interest known to a man such as Mr Dursley, followed up by a few dates where he picks her up and drops her off at her parents’ house, him after a proper amount of time proposing when having obtained her father’s permission, and eventually her marrying him and quitting her job and moving out of her parents’ house to live as his wife just fits perfectly in that plan.
Inviting Mr Dursley to her parents’ Christmas celebration would’ve been a great way to get to know him in a different setting, and for her parents to meet him without putting too much pressure on it.
Of course, it was all ruined when she heard her younger sister was coming.
And not just that, because, all right, she could’ve expected her parents would invite their other daughter, but her younger sister’s new boyfriend and her friends are all coming! Her younger sister is in her last year of what she calls school, and Petunia had hoped she would spend the Christmas break with her boyfriend’s family. But no, she and those other freaks she knows from that school are coming to the Evans’ Christmas celebration.
There was absolutely no way Petunia was going to invite anyone from work when those people are around. She will not have her co-workers think she associates with freaks like that! Or have them know that she has a freak like that in her own family.
Of course, they can’t use their so-called magic when normal people are around, but she knows by now that those people are weird enough even without doing their nasty little tricks.
Yet, Petunia didn’t want to be alone at her parents’ party, and they won’t appreciate her missing the celebration, so she decided to invite her friends from school. She has been complaining to them about her weird sister, going to her school for weird kids, ever since they were children, so it’s nothing they don’t already know.
That’s how Petunia finds herself at the party with her parents, her parents’ friends, and her school friends Harriet and Edith.
At first, it’s quite nice, having lovely chats with relatives Petunia hasn’t seen in a while and old friends of her parents, sipping drinks with her friends. That is, of course, before her sister arrives.
“What was that?” Harriet clutches her necklace.
“Probably a car backfiring,” Petunia tries to reassure her, warily looking out the window where the loud bang came from.
Her suspicions are confirmed when a moment later, her sister and her friends walk in.
Lily looks stunning. She’s wearing an emerald green dress that matches her eyes and her dark red hair is hanging loose over her shoulders. She’s smiling brightly, her parents’ pride and joy, immediately the light of the party, and the centre of attention, as always.
And now there’s also the boyfriend.
Her parents think he’s oh, so charming, with his open expression and always that disarming grin, but Petunia thinks he’s just slightly too pleased with himself. It annoys her that even for her parents’ Christmas celebration he couldn’t be bothered to try and make his hair look decent. Even worse, it looks like he’s messing it up on purpose. At least he’s wearing proper clothes this time. When Lily brought him over for dinner for the first time, he had been wearing leggings and a bathrobe. He had been surprised at their reactions, and told Lily he went to a Muggle clothes store especially for her.
They sure love throwing that word around: Muggle. It always angers Petunia, no matter how many times Lily explains it’s not a slur, just a term.
Lily must’ve picked out her boyfriend’s clothes this time, as he’s wearing good trousers and a woollen jumper. Most of Lily’s friends luckily seem to know what normal clothes look like, except for two red-headed guys who seem to be wearing chestnut brown dresses. Well, they can pas for whacky art students or something.
While Petunia is thinking about how grateful she is she did not invite Mr Dursley, she vaguely registers hearing a motorcycle outside, but it’s not until Harriet’s and Edith’s simultaneous gasps that she realises another guest has arrived.
Petunia turns to the door, and almost gasps herself. She vaguely wonders if the young man walking in also didn’t know how to wear normal clothes, or whether he chose jeans that tight on purpose and meant to leave that many buttons of his shirt unbuttoned. She realises she’s staring, and quickly looks away, her cheeks heating up.
Harriet and Edith have no such qualms.
Harriet is leaning with her elbows on the table, her head resting on her hands, eying him up and down. “Now, that is a rare specimen.”
“And a fine specimen,” Edith agrees. “They don’t often make ‘em like that.”
Harriet hums. “Keep the candy canes, I prefer the eye candy.”
Edith fans herself with a napkin. “Is it me or had it suddenly gotten a lot hotter in here?”
Petunia is mortified at her friends acting so untoward, just at seeing a handsome man. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
The man looks around the room, and it’s surely unnatural to have hair that dark with eyes that bright. He spots Lily and Potter, waves and walks over, so if he’s one of them, Petunia supposes he is unnatural.
“Stop it!” Petunia hisses at her friends. “He’s one of those freaks from that school for deviants my sister goes to!”
Harriet rolls her eyes. “Hun, I wouldn’t have cared it he were a bloody werewolf, with cheekbones like that.”
The man walks past and Edith leans over to unsubtly watch him go. “Or a backside like that.”
Petunia scoffs as she takes a sip from her drink, trying very hard to not look at the handsome man’s backside. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
“Tuney? What’s wrong? Are you not enjoying the party?”
Petunia turns to look at Lily, giving her a hard glare. “What’s wrong? That’s what’s wrong!” She points across the room to where Harriet is giggling and twirling her hair around her finger so much Petunia is worried it’ll get stuck, and Edith is batting her eyelashes while leaning over the table so that practically the whole room can look down her dress, both of them chatting up Lily’s handsome friend. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
“Ah, yes,” Lily says, studying the scene calmly. “The Infamous Black Charm. Hardly anyone can resist. I’m sorry, I probably should’ve warned you about that. Don’t worry, though. I know just how to put a stop to it.”
Lily looks around the room and for a moment Petunia hopes she’ll turn Harriet’s and Edith’s hair blue, like she did to Petunia a couple of times when they were young, but she immediately pushes the thought away. She would never want Lily to use that awful magic of hers, especially not against her friends, it’s disgusting and wrong. No matter how much she would like to see Harriet’s and Edith’s hair turn blue.
But Lily does not grab her magic stick. Instead, she calls out “Oi, Lupin!”
One of Potter’s friends turns around. He really should’ve been hideous, with scars all across his face, but somehow, his warm honey-coloured eyes make him look sort of... sweet.
Lily points to where Edith is practically shoving her, admittedly quite impressive, bosom against Black. “Resolve that situation, please.”
A wolfish grin spreads over Lupin’s face. “My pleasure.” He marches towards Black and Petunia’s friends.
“What’s he gonna-?” Petunia begins nervously, but before she can finish her sentence, Lupin grabs Black by his collar, pulls him in and starts snogging him senseless. “Oh.”
Petunia stares in shock, and Harriet and Edith look on in bewilderment.
“What...” Black has to gasp for air once Lupin has pulled away. “was that for?”
Lupin smiles, pressing another quick, soft kiss on Black’s lips. “Just clearing something up.”
Harriet and Edith have joined Petunia at her table again, but she’s not sure if that’s actually a good thing, as now they can’t stop gushing about what a cute couple Black and Lupin make. She’s actually relieved when they have to get home. Her relief is short-lived, however, as Lily and her friends join her at her table.
“I’m sorry,” Lupin says, standing beside her, one arm casually wrapped around Black’s waist. “We didn’t mean to take your friends’ attention away from you.”
Petunia would think he was mocking her, but he looks so genuinely sorry and sounds so sincere, it’s almost difficult to snap at him.
Almost.
“I don’t need sympathy from unnatural freaks like you!”
“Oi!” Black protests. “We love each other! You can’t help who you fall in love with, and it doesn’t make us ‘freaks’.”
Petunia states at him. Then crosses her arms over her chest. “I don’t give a rat’s arse down whose throat you want to stick your tongue! I mean that unnatural and freaky magic, or whatever you claim it to be.”
“Oh,” Black says a bit sheepishly. “I’m sorry. I thought you meant because we’re two guys who... Well, you know.”
Petunia bristles. How did they get from her insulting Black to Black apologizing to her? It’s unnerving.
Luckily, Potter makes getting angry a lot easier. “Why do you hate Wizarding folks so much, Tuney?”
“You don’t get to call me that!” Petunia snaps. It’s only when Lily beams at her she realises how it must sound. Like it’s something special between her and Lily. Good god, she thought she had gotten over that when she was twelve. “You wizards think you’re so special, but you just always ruin everything! Like that senile old man who took my sister away to that freakshow he called a school, and even before that, there was this gross, creepy boy always lurking from the bushes when Lily and I were playing, always trying to get Lily away from me. He thought himself just so much better than me, because he was a wizard, and I was ‘just a Muggle’. You’d think that someone who doesn’t even know how to wash his hair wouldn’t be so arrogant, but he had an ego almost the size of his nose, that ugly git from Snape.”
There’s a silence.
“Oh no,” Lupin mutters.
“Here we go,” Lily sighs.
Huge, identical grins spread over Potter’s and Black’s faces.
“What?” Petunia shifts uneasily. “What did I say?”
At that point, Potter and Black appear on either side of her, both throwing an arm around her shoulders.
“Oh, Tuney,” Black says. “I think we’ve gotten off on the wrong foot.”
“Yeah,” Potter agrees. “I have the feeling that if we get to know each other a bit better, we’ll get along splendidly!”

Snape is a horrible person and here is why
There is one fact in the books that destroys the whole argument for snape being a good/brave person. And that fact is Lily Evan’s was a kind person.
Lily and snape were friends before they even went to school, and then stayed friends for most of school before they went their separate ways. Why did they stop being friends you ask? bc snape was a bad person and lily finally realized it. she then got to be with James, realized that even tho he may be obnoxious, he’s a GOOD PERSON, then fell in love married and had harry.
Good Kind people will always give the benefit of the doubt. Lily knew snapes home situation and she excused his behavior bc of it. But finally when they were getting older and snape started having control over his own decisions lily saw that those decisions didn’t reflect who she thought snape was (a good person who was misunderstood).
Lilys best friend was snape, he was the only friend she had went she went back home! Hell the only person she could really talk to since her sister wouldn’t. Snape was a huge deal to Lily, she wouldn’t have just dropped him for any reason. I imagine she was pretty upset when she realized she’d have to not be friends with him anymore.
Let’s also remember Snape only switched sides bc he yet again didn’t get what he wanted. He did NOT care that harry or james was in harms way, he only cared that lily would be hurt. which is so fucking weird bc if he really loved lily he would have been happy that she found her soul mate in james. Would have not joined voldeys army, and he would have worked with james and sirius to fix their issues so that lilly could still be a friend in his life.
Anyways, snape was never a good guy, and never will be considering he was a 30 year old man who never got over high school drama. The character we could compare him best to is Ross from friends (and no ross was not a good guy either and rachel deserved better) And Lily evan’s being the icon she is had basically warned us about snape from the beginning.
