me sending yet another email to a French public service to ask them why they use so many gratuitous English words in a service that's supposed to be non-discriminatory and accessible to everyone in the country

#this time it's about the paris library network which offers new book suggestions every month #and so many of the category titles are in english..... why? all the books are in french #'cosy mystery' 'space opera' 'road trips' 'climate fiction' < all of these were in english #i don't care how widespread some of these phrases are; you are public libraries and the public speaks french #do you really want to discourage people who don't read in english from clicking the links to check out the books?#why are you doing this. i am throwing virtual tomatoes at you #a lot of older people are confused or intimidated by this deluge of english loanwords. fuck them i guess?#and yes i picked napoléon in waterloo because i know this is a losing battle #même à la fnac on voit des intitulés de rayon en anglais alors que le rayon ne contient que des livres français...

"Cocteau ... has created an enigmatic libretto in which a noble maiden has a lovely white unicorn which eats only from her hand. But after the Knight comes, and an amorous pas de deux ensues between the two aristocrats, the Unicorn will no longer eat and dies. The Knight, who has left, now returns, but the Lady is no longer interested in him. As the curtain falls, she is on stage alone, with neither Knight nor Unicorn, pointing to a banner on which is inscribed 'Mon seul desir' (My only desire)."

Una data da ricordare

Guardo dal finestrino dell'aereo, ho lasciato Roma Fiumicino da un po'. Voliamo su una distesa di panna montata e qualche raggio di sole che filtra. Ho i brividi addosso .. sono frastotnata ma mi consola il fatto che Parigi mi attende per costruire qualcosa di entusiasmante per il mio futuro. Atterrerò tra non molto a Charles de Gaulle per poi andare in navetta fino agli alloggi della Boiserie. (alloggio che non sarà gratuito per inteso ma pagherò 400 euro al mese con una caparra di 200 gia inviata )ed infine presentarmi a Disneyland giorno 18 nell'albergo dove lavorerò in qualità di receptionist. Ancora non so quale albergo mi toccherà ma mi hanno detto che per i primi 2 mesi sarò tipo Jolly da uno all'altro. Ok e sia, qualsiasi cosa pur di crescere, pur di ampliare i miei orizzonti e scoprire le mie potenzialità stavolta con un salto del tutto in assolo.
