第一土曜日で、雨の次の日で天気が良く水蒸気が立ちのぼり、気候も穏やか、となれば絶好の凧揚げ日和です。福岡は空港が近くにあるのでビルの高度規制があるせいか、凪の時間を除くと風が整っていて、凧が揚げやすいのです。ちなみに、画像の上の方にある点が新羅凧です。鈴木召平さんの新羅凧は冬に届くと思います。 (Ōhori Park)

We spent our second day in Fukuoka by going to Ōhori Park and visiting the Ruins of what used to be the magnificent Fukuoka Castle. We took of from Tojimmachi Station to the Ōhorikōen Station. We walked around the park which took as about an hour (we took a lot of pictures on the way) to reach the gate to the Fukuoka Castle Ruins. Once we reached the top, we saw the spectacular view of Fukuoka City. Afterwards, we looked for a place to eat and immediately saw Ikkousha Keishi Ramen House which served a variety of ramen noodles and authentic Japanese food such as gyoza. 

Japan is known for castle ruins and ancient temples. It was a wonderful (and a very tiring) visit to this unpopular yet spectacular site. 

Kat’s Thoughts:

I was beginning to worry that there might not be a lot of activities that we can enjoy in Fukuoka but after walking around the peaceful city, I immediately fell in love with it’s uniqueness. We visited places that not many people are familiar with. Travelling definitely is discovering unpopular yet spectacular places like Fukuoka City.
