summary : in which — yn who just debuted gets into a dating scandal with one of the most famous group members because of a misunderstanding and is forced to fake date with him. what happens if it isn’t as bad as she thinks? and and what if she finds comfort with him?

“taehyun, can we go to the cafe lounge for awhile?” hueningkai asked the now pink haired boy, who is lazing around in his bed.

“the private one? why?”

“i lost something and i think i need your help to find it. can you please help me?”

taehyun slightly hesitates before getting up and walking out of the dorm with hyuka, he doesn’t want to bump into a certain someone in the building. especially since that someone is making a comeback soon, meaning there’s about 70% chance he’ll bump into her.

taehyun and hyuka arrived shortly after, quick getting into the lounge to find hyuka’s “thing” that he lost.

after about 10 minutes, he said he’s gonna check the room beside the lounge. taehyun replied with thumbs up before continuing the search.

after taehyun was tired of searching, he found himself laying on the couch and almost napping — until he heard a door creak open. he quickly jumped out of the couch but then quickly went back to it to hide.

“hello? is someone there? im really sorry, i just need to take something.. i’ll be quick!” she apologises.

what? is that yn?

“yn? is that you?” taehyun got up, and quickly looked at the girl that was standing near the door.

taehyun could clearly see that she was suprised, possibly even uncomfortable with the situation.

“im sorry. i’ll leave” she quickly tried to end the conversation, but she can’t seem to leave.

not because taehyun stopped her, but because of the door not being to open.

“shit. it’s locked. this is the room with the door that has to stay open”

he saw that you looked worried. “don’t worry. i’ll call someone to come to us and i’ll stay away from you.”

“no um.. you really don’t have too. it’s just that we haven’t seen eachother in awhile.”

“you’re right. how have you been?”

“i’ve been okay. you seem to be doing well too.”

“i guess so.”

the atmosphere was filled with very, very awkward silence.

“is it just me, or it’s really cold in here?” you mumbled, slowly starting to feel the cold breeze, rubbing your palms together in a desperate attempt to receive warmth.

“the heater probably broke too.” taehyun reached out his hand to you, asking for your hand.

“what’s that for?”

“oh come on yn, we both know my hands are warm and yours are always cold.” he replied, but he sees your hesitation to hold his hand.

“i get that you might be uncomfortable with it considering our situation right now but im not letting you freeze.”

“um.. my hands are sweaty.”

“ive been dealing with them when we fake dated, im sure i can deal with it now.”

“oh shut up… why didn’t you tell me? that’s embarassing” you covered your face in embarassment.

he chuckles and reaches out his hand again, and this time you took it. and didn’t let go.

from holding hands from a distance, to you laying on his shoulder, him hugging you to keep you warm, until you both doze off.

“why the hell are they here, sleeping together? hyuka, i thought you sent taehyun here to find your “thing” and you could come to me to talk about how to get them together!

“i did! but i didn’t know you sent yn to the room next to him!” hyuka replied.

“did they get back together? i mean, the door was locked!”

“i don’t think so. they probably got stuck here or something and dozed off.” hanni said disappointingly.

“well, atleast they probably talked a bit” hyuka sighs.

though this was not part of hyuka’s and hanni’s plan, but you and taehyun definitely weren’t complaining. because maybe, in a way, the universe is slowly bringing you and him back together.

♡ he’s a very perceptive guy, so i feel like he would notice your discomfort in an instant — and while he wishes you would have said something the moment the guy lowered his head to your shoulder suddenly, he knows that it wouldn't have gone over well with your management. this however does not mean that he’ll let the guy make you uncomfortable, so he doesn’t hesitate to speak up

“‘scuse me, make sure to keep your space,” yeonjun leaned away from the mic in front of him and looked at the older male behind your back — his words were muttered, making it basically impossible to make out what he was saying.

the idol looked towards yeonjun, whose eyes bounced between you and him, showing what exactly he was talking about. with a silent nod a small apology sent your way, yeonjun reclaimed his space — a comforting smile sent your way before he turned back towards the screaming fans.

#SOOBIN

♡ while i could see him either being vocal about your discomfort, or silent in the moment, i can say for a fact that if he doesn't say anything to the male in that moment, he would definitely talk to him or his management afterwards — soobin focuses more on helping you brush off the discomfort of the males obvious physical advances

with the long table cloth covering the underneath of the table, soobin didn't hesitate to take hold of your hand — his thumb rubbing over your knuckles and rings softly. it was an unspoken way of telling you that it would be okay, and that he was right at your side.

as the idol to your right went to lean close you you once again, soobin made a split decision to give the chair you sat on a small yank in his direction, pulling you away from the idol — playing it off as if something was on the floor between the two of you. while it looked odd to see the tall idol jump up from his seat and drag you with him, pointing towards the floor in faux horror.

#BEOMGYU

♡ very passive aggressive — will make sly comments at the idol before offering a forced smile. it is obvious to everyone in the room that beomgyu is no doubt taking shots at the male, but beomgyu can't find it in himself to care.

as the interviewer questions the idol about his dating life, he turns his eyes towards you for a moment — the fans catching it in an instant. their whoops and hollers were heard throughout the building, loud and endless, urging the pit in beomgyus stomach to grow deeper and deeper.

“ah i’m sure his schedules far too busy for any sort of love in his life right now,” beomgyu offers his comment with a petty laugh at the end — knowing very well that the idol was painfully single, and painfully desperate. “that paired with his wonderful personality.”

#TAEHYUN

♡ taehyun is quiet during the moment, but like soobin, tries to offer his support for you — he knows that you can't speak out towards the male due to his seniority over you, but again, that doesn't stop him from directing his anger at him once they're offstage and away from prying eyes

“— next time you even look in her direction in an odd way, i won't hesitate to go to your management about it,” taehyun didn’t lower his tone as he bumped shoulders with the male as he walked off stage. “she doesn’t need people making her uncomfortable while she’s trying to do her job.”

taehyun walked off at that, gesturing for you to follow after him and ignoring the questioning look you were giving him. once away from the large groups of staff and in the comfort of his group's dressing room he spoke up. “i’m sorry you had to deal with that, but it won’t happen again. i assure you that.”

#HUENINGKAI

♡ he grows uncomfortable alongside you -- while he’s not in the same exact situation as you by any means, he knows that the way the idol leans in close to you when he has no need to nor permission to is an obvious invasion of privacy. heuningkai becomes oddly quiet, the usually smiley boy now sporting a frown and furrowed brows

as soon as the staff signalled that the cameras had stopped rolling and that they were free to head backstage once more, hueningkai didn’t hesitate from shooting up from his seated position and offering you his hand -- a single glare sent towards the male who still had his eyes on you as the two of you walked away.

“can’t believe he would be so creepy with you -- especially on live television,” he grunted, pulling you into his arms as soon as you were in the comfort of his dressing room. “do you want me to talk to someone about it? because if you want me to, I'll go out there and say something right now.”

beomgyu's fingers didn't cease their assault on your sides — your laugher echoing loudly throughout the room. he failed at hiding his own laugher as your hand snuck up to poke at his own sides — his laughter mixing with your own, filling the once tense and somber room with happiness.

the minute you had stepped into the kitchen, you had been ushered to one of the island stools and away from taehyun — his feet scrambling around the kitchen as he prepared the dish that you always craved no matter the day.

with hueningkai's body squished tightly against your own paired with the countless amounts of soft and fluffy stuffed animals piled beside and on top of you, it was easy for you to forget about the thoughts that once plagued your mind, and stopped the tears altogether.

♡ (attempts to) bake a bunch of sweets for you

heeseung watched carefully as you bit into the sweet — despite it being a tad bit burnt, heeseung has obviously put a tremendous amount of effort into the cookies he laid in front of you. while they weren't exactly 5 star worthy, the effort and love he put into them made up for the burnt taste.

you were sure you had stepped on his feet too many times to even begin to count at this point, but he hadn't shown care for it — instead, he laughed and sang loudly to the music playing as he held your hands tightly in his own, dragging you up to dance with him in the living room.

with his phone in hand and his special note pulled up that was filled to the brim with dad jokes and yo mama jokes entirely, jake chose wisely what ones he would utter to you with a serious face — one that would melt into a smile as soon as he heard you giggle at his mess of words.

sunghoon's hands traveled through your hair, separating the knots, playing with the individual strands, and scratching his fingernails gently into your scalp to ease the tension there — he couldn't help but adore how at eased you looked as he did something as simple as play with your hair

he stood behind you, looking into the mirror and watching as you made faces into it — the blue sheen on your face was also found on his own, the peel-off face mask that the two of you had helped each other apply only moments earlier bringing a smile to the both of your faces at how stiff they had turned in a matter of minutes.

♡ he’s pushed through sicknesses before to preform for his groups fans, and while in the moment adrenaline ran high to the point where he didn’t feel a thing, he knows that as soon as your heart slows down and the sweat dries, the sickness you experienced hours prior will only evolve into something much worse

yeonjun brushed stray strands of hair away from your face, one hand caressing your hairline and the other clutching onto a damp towel, gently dotting it along your skin every few minutes. he had warned your before you had stepped foot onto the stage that your current state would only worsen with the amount of physical activity you were about to put your body into, yet he knew that his words wouldn’t stop you from doing what you loved to do.

so now, he found himself caring for your weak form, the management sitting outside of the room waiting for any signal for more help, but for the moment they let the boy care for you the way he saw fit.

“do you need any water, food even?” he felt the way your shoulders lurched at the mere mention of eating. “okay no to the food idea,” yeonjun continued to dab at the sweat on your neck and forehead. “as much as i hate to be that guy, you’ve learned your lesson, no?”

“please stop talking,” you huffed, letting your weight drop onto his chest, his hand coming up to stroke at the side of your face, a small chuckle leaving his lips.

♡ he’s constantly on his own members about taking care of their bodies and their mental health — encouraging them to step up and let him or the company know when something felt off in the slightest. soobin even pushed these expectations on you and you’re group (even going as far to talk to your groups leader about it personally)

soobin watched helplessly as staff flocked around your crying form, the pants you wore for your stage now bunched up near your knee as cautious hands poked and prodded at the swollen skin of your ankle. one wrong move on stage and a misplaced prop had sent your body hurling forward while your ankle stayed put in its caught position.

he wanted to run up on stage as soon as it happened, but he knew better then to cause a scene — that paired with the way his members turned to him quickly and set reassuring hands on his shoulders.

“it’s merely a sprain so no permanent damage done — but you’ll have to stay off of your feet for the next few shows,” the medical team had quickly packed up, one member staying behind to let both your staff, fellow members, and soobin know of your diagnosis. “that’s also an order, not me recommending something,” with that, the man grabbed his bag and followed after the others.

while your groups staff walked off, most likely trying to spread the word on your situation as well as talk over what to tell the press and worried fans, your group mates decided to shuffle out of the room, leaving a stressed soobin looking down at your form on the couch.

“if you think i’m gonna be the nice boyfriend here i’m not — the next few shows you’ll be sitting on a stool, you get no say in the matter,” soobin took a seat on the floor in front of the couch, a warning look sent towards you before he let it melt into a soft look. he was just happy that you were okay in the end.

♡ again, another member who knows what it’s like — and like yeonjun, he doesn’t let you forget about it. he hates to see you injured, sad, or even angry, so he’s on you quite a bit about putting your health before the shows you were scheduled to preform — “there was no proper show without the entire group there” is what he constantly told you

beomgyu watched on from the doorway to your groups makeup room, your members standing to the side as they watched their manager take your temperature and run the cold cloth along your face and neck — the layered stage outfit you once had on now slimmed down to a tee-shirt while your pants were swapped for shorts.

“y/n, you really need to tell us if you’re not feeling good — things could’ve turned out a lot worse if the show had gone on any longer,” your manager huffed, looking down on the concerning number on the thermometer. “you nearly gave all of us heart attacks backstage.”

he found himself nodding along to your managers words, stepping further into the room after a quick nod was sent towards him from one of your group members. holding out his hand, beomgyu took the towel from your manager, letting them walk out of the room to alert the rest of the staff about you temperature and what they needed to help.

“they’re right y’know — things could’ve went sideways tonight,” he leaned his head downwards a bit, connecting your eyes as a way to show that he was serious. “if you’re not gonna take care of your health for yourself, at least try to for your fans, your group members, and me.”

♡ while he knows it’s a normal occurrence for idols to pretend they’re okay and put on a smiling face for their fans, taehyun honestly hadn’t expected you to be one of them. with how you hounded him for revealing he had a small headache before a show, he hadn’t expected you to ignore your own warnings in the end

taehyun sat in the dark hotel room with you, all lights turned down low and the volume on the television minimized, only making enough sound to fill the silence. with your body still facing the aftershocks of pushing yourself too hard while you should’ve been resting, taehyun took on the role of caretaker for the night.

he had already made sure you had a full meal, proper medicine to help aid the healing time, and a comfortable bed that was a sure answer to letting your body fully relax.

“please be more considerate with your health for the rest of the tour,” he whispered, making sure his volume wasn’t too loud as to not cause your raging headache to worsen. “this and friday’s tour stops are the only ones i’m able to attend, and then i’m back with the boys,” his hand hovered over your eyes, blocking the blue light from the screen in front of the bed. “i need you to promise that you’ll take the time to rest properly.”

hueningkai had your body turned towards him and leg extended outwards to him, an ice pack resting on your knee, just over top of the wrap the staff had put on it only minutes after you had gotten off of the stage.

he had preformed there as well, knowing that outdoor stages were always bound to get slippery with the humidity from the crowd and light rain that had fallen mid performance — so why hadn’t he warned you to be careful while going out there?
