my puppy, my sun, the godfather to my child, best friend number 1, my favorite person in the world (jack look away), dawson mercer. you got your first career hat trick and i could not be more proud of you! i’m so glad i was healed from my debilitating illness (i had a cold) and was able to witness it in person! i’m not saying i’m your lucky charm but… slap me in green and call me a leprechaun! 🍀

Tomorrow & Tomorrow & Tomorrow

SPOILERS AHEAD

Oh man you guys! I really enjoyed this episode! I loved it way more than The Broken Circle but I did not love it as much as I loved Ad Astra Per Aspera but that episode was so a cut above the average (as in in the running for best episodes of Trek ever written caliber stuff). That it hardly seems fair to say so because this episode was an absolute JOY to watch! Lol! I love a good time travel romp!

I remembered enjoying Paul Wesley’s Kirk in A Quality of Mercy but I wasn’t sure whether I was just riding the high of the previous season or whether he could pull it off twice. But he did and I really really like his interpretation of Jim. I honestly like it a lot better than Chris Pine’s if I’m super honest with y’all.

I mean he UNDERSTOOD the assignment! He was definitely at his Kirkiest when they initially arrived in the 21st century that body language and cadence was on point despite him not looking too much like Shatner. I mean hats off to the writers too for that one. The passion for chess without being overly cocky. The all of it!

There was something about the hot dogs scene and letting La’an have the bed in the hotel that felt very Tarsus IV even tho that might not have happened in this timeline. It’s still very James Kirk of him. Not to mention the whole bit where his type is overachiever, kinda uptight but also dark and mysterious and dare I say a little out of his league folks. Whom he charms without being pushy into warming up to him and letting their guard down. Also THANK YOU to the writers and to Wesley for recognizing Kirk Drift and acknowledging our boy is a hopeless romantic and NOT a babe hound.

I called the La’an/Kirk thing way before it happened because of it. And from what was implied in the Ready Room interview with Paul Wesley it sounds as though we might get more La’an & Jim content in the future which I certainly wouldn’t object to! Although we are skirting the edge of when Jim & Carol Marcus supposedly met so that might get a lil complicated but the seasons (because they’re sorter) might not be 1:1 with years so they’ve got some wiggle room to work with.

I love seeing the cinematic parallels between Kirk & Jim’s love interest stuff in SNW that clearly draws them to each other later on. Chapel is a lot like Kirk and Spock is falling for her pretty hard. La’an is a lot like Spock by the time we meet him in TOS (not too similar to SNW baby Spock though) and they fell for each other pretty badly too! For example, both La’an & Spock are terrified of Kirk’s insane driving skills (or lack thereof lmao)! But enough about Jim & the whole K/S kitten caboodle! This episode is about LA’AN :D

Holy shit did La’an need what’s been happening with her in these past couple episodes. She got to face her generational trauma headlong, she got to see a mirror in Kirk and further realize the value of enjoying the fleeting and precious joys of life. By both convincing this alternate timeline version of Kirk that her version of the world is worth saving (also not the “Sam’s alive?” 😭 because his older brother dies unexpectedly and tragically in both timelines DONT TOUCH MEEEE, also not the potential Kirk bros content going forward also 😭). To eating the damn hot dog, and presumably letting Kirk talk her into taking the bed and just ugggggh.

And then HE DIES! They fridged Captain James T. Kirk of all people for HER character development lmao how’s THAT for a twist. Historically it’s been the other way around how’s that feel for once Jimbo? Damn!

Sera was an interesting villain, she was a good twist honestly felt like something was up with her the minute she had pics of that romukan ship. Also, I love all the self referential like, “yes we acknowledge this changed a little bit” stuff that’s happened. Like the Temporal Wars are why the Eugenics war is supposed to start around *now* and not the 90s like previously stated and Sera has been trapped trying to fulfill her mission for 30 years. Or how clearly Jim thinks everybody calls his brother George and only he gets to call him Sam when clearly that’s not the case lol. It’s nice little touches like that that really make me feel validated for having faith in the writers when nitpickers complain.

Also PELIA! She’s an art thief?! Incredible! Hilarious! Brilliant! No notes! Although it JUST occurred to me that because La’an went to Pelia before the whole “preventing the timeline from changing entirely” bit does THAT mean that La’an can at least talk to Pelia about what happened?! Because it’s implied La’an is who inspired her to become an engineer and that’s still part of our prime timeline! Maybe it’s like a Guinan and Picard situation! I think La’an should get to sob into the arms of our funky little klepto engineer grandma as a treat instead of breaking down alone in her room, please and thank you!

Anyway, baller episode! 9/10

I have published 222 gifsets this year, which is fun and possibly a bit insane. I've made gratuitous use of the archive feature so I've linked that on the weird chance anyone but me is interested in every set I've posted. (December link, and then scrolling down will take you back month by month)

Excerpt ??? (I've lost count) from I Survived Kirk, my forthcoming fanfic autobiography of a bitter redshirt on Kirk's Enterprise

The entire reason this book exists is as a rebuttal of Risk is Our Business.  I’m not sure how much of that was written by Kirk himself and how much was his ghost writer, but the man depicted in that book is not the man I worked under for years.  Not in personality, not in reasoning.  Not in anything.  I see it as more whitewashing of history, more misinformation to pass along to the next generation.  This book exists as a counterpoint.  I’m no James T Kirk, I haven’t done the things he has.  I’ll never be as famous and this book will never be read by anywhere near as many people.  But if I can get through to just a few that’s fine by me.  So long as the truth as I know it is preserved in some way.

I first met James Tiberius Kirk when I reported aboard the USS Enterprise as a crewman in 2264.  He came in with a reputation, as the hero of what they were calling the “Gioghe Incident” where he’d taken command of the USS Lydia Sutherland, and although he lost his ship, he’d saved many lives.  He’d just been given a medal and a promotion.

The entire Enterprise crew was gathered in the shuttlebay for the change-of-command ceremony.  I was right at the back, in front of the mammoth clamshell doors.  At the other end of the bay, Captain Pike wished everyone well and Captain Kirk gave a short and completely unmemorable speech.

He seemed like a nice enough guy.  Young for a captain but confident in himself, enough so that you wanted to follow him.  And people would – for better or worse.

Our historic five-year mission was to begin with a routine patrol of bases along the Klingon border, ferrying a touring troupe to entertain the base personnel.  It was meant to be something nice and easy to get the crew accustomed to each other and their new commander.

Kirk’s mother and father both served in Starfleet.  Daddy Kirk rose through the ranks, becoming first officer of the Einstein-class deep-space scout USS Kelvin.  When James was born, George decided an assignment closer to Earth was preferable to years-long missions in deep space.  He transferred to become security chief of Starbase 2, the K-class space station roughly two weeks from Earth which I’d just left.

Apparently George and Winona Kirk’s Starfleeting was more important than raising kids, since they left Jimbo with relatives on Tarsus IV.

A teenage Jim Kirk survived The Tarsus IV Massacre, which cannot have left him without some serious psychological scars.

What was The Tarsus IV Massacre, you ask?  It was quite a big news story throughout the Federation at the time.  An alien fungus ruined an Earth colony’s entire food supply, and with help too far out to prevent mass starvation, the colony’s governor, a man named…Anton?  Arnold?  A-something Kodos decided the cull the “less useful” members of it’s population, so that the ones he decided were worthy of survival would survive long enough for help to arrive. 

So, he murdered half the colony’s population.  And then – here’s the kicker – rescue arrived much earlier than expected.  Early enough that nobody needed to be executed.  Except they already had.  Oh dear.

The scenes shown on the newscasts were shocking and graphic.  Far worse than anything I’d ever seen in my life up until that point.  Usually you hear just hear about murders and horrible events with options to click for more details and gross images.  Here we got shocking images of piles of charred dead bodies, many children, in our newsfeeds.  It was mind-blowing and harrowing to see things like this are still happening in Federation territory.  On a Federation colony world, no less.

It gets weirder, there were people asking how Kodos would be thought of had rescue arrived when expected, and his mass executions had saved half the population rather than doomed the whole?  While it’s an interesting scenario, the entire idea of this Kodos being the one to decide who lives and who dies is repulsive. A list of things (slightly behind the scenes) that Darian has done whilst being here. Or at least the ones I can remember. Because he needs to be constantly doing stuff otherwise he dies:

-broke into personal records/file room literally the day after he joined Tumblr

-planned out several murder plots from the moment Five and Az met (for Az obviously)

-had to be part of a testing of an immune system decaying drug as part of punishment for the Lila's daughter briefcase incident, which is why he felt sick for like a week after it (actually had this one sorted with Reg's mod)

-generally figured out who JM was after asking around a bit, half thought it was some eccentric Sherlock Holmes fan, didn't point it out because he just liked talking to him

-set off alarms of high security buildings for shits and giggles on multiple nights out

-went to a conspiracy theorist convention only to get trapped in an active lockdown because one of them was threatening to bomb the place

-that one time he fucking doxxed himself, knowing he was being actively hunted by quite a few people he pissed off over the years, only to have everyone that showed up killed

-rejoined the Reality Project as part of an agreement with Handler Liraz to ensure the Commission wouldn't suddenly show up to make everything worse and that they had some form of protection

-got hunted down and forced to stay in the bunkers because of this after going against the demand to participate in the Avatar experiment (which he then learned the details of how horrific it was through asking Lils how avatars worked), the very Being that was to be assigned to him being part of those hunting him down, which ultimately failed because of the amount of other beings that were on his side

-experimented with the extent of effects reality beings can have on people, while dealing with being hunted

-formed business alliances and bonds with the TVA after the situation with Rags, and meeting Averagebuildman

-has asked his younger selves to distract people multiple times, most notably when 17 was talking to both Jimbo and Eurus, trying to piss them off or trigger them, after they'd joked about doing something to Five

-tortured (what was thought to be) music note anon

-got promoted suddenly, then continued to piss off Reg and drugged Madigan when finding out Commission coffee was drugged

-killed Handler Liraz w/ Madigan after figuring out Dani's death was part of a plan by og Handler

-sniped Handler and momentarily Alec

-basically killed and replaced any higher ups that didn't agree with his cause, killing them himself, through others, and specifically via K

-lowkey infiltrated meetings, the majority of departments, projects, etc, just to have his influence and presence almost everywhere in some way

-technically died twice in one week, one of them being basically all planned out, purely depending on the soul anchor line items he gave his friends

A New Hobby

Sirius glared at the booklet that came with his new hobby. On the outside was a picture of James looking hot as fuck in a brown leather jacket, tight black jeans and a white t-shirt. He had new thick-framed glasses in the shoot and he was smirking at the camera, swaying back and forth, and scratching the back of his head with his wand. Around his neck was a vibrant red and gold scarf, reminiscent of their school days, as part of the brand's Hogwarts Range. 

Inside the booklet was a series of instructions written in an unbreakable code. CO thirty-one st. Sl one then K one. P one - until you reach the end of the row. Seriously, rune breaking was easier than this shit… of course, Sirius was trained in rune breaking but that wasn’t the point. He was brilliant at picking up new hobbies instantly and the fact that he couldn’t even understand a simple code was driving him mad. He let out a low growl, suited more on Padfoot than him, and then turned to the two needles that had been included in the set. After a quick inspection, he noted that the needles were eight mm… whatever that meant. 

Maybe James would know. 

After all, he was on the box looking oh so very sexy. 

“Jimothy!” There was no response, and Sirius rolled his eyes. “Jimbo! James! Jamie! Jay!”

Still nothing. 

“Bloody stubborn shit,” Sirius grumbled as he made his way to their bedroom.

When he pushed the door open he was greeted by an even sexier James Potter. His boyfriend was shirtless, his jeans undone and pushed halfway down his thighs. Sweat glistened over his abs and pecs, dark chest hair trailing over his tanned skin. Just above his hips, the dark-inked antlers teased Sirius, always guiding his gaze, his touch, his mouth, lower. James had his cock in hand and he let out a strangled moan as his back arched off the mattress, his free hand gripping the sheets.

Sirius’ jaw dropped. No matter how many times he saw James like this… he was always blown away by his beauty. Nothing was more ethereal than James Potter in the moments after he came. He looked blissed out as he all but collapsed on the bed, face flushed and chest heaving, a serene smile beaming back at Sirius. His hand was still working his cock lazily until his whole body quivered as he fell limp by his side. 

“Hmm… you want something, Pads?”

He’d all but forgotten the yarn and needles in his hands; the project that he’d only bought because his stupidly attractive boyfriend was on the box. The nonsensical patterns were a distant memory. 

“You could have called me, love,” Sirius whined, pouting at his sex-drunk boyfriend. Knitting be damned, he wanted James more than a stupid scarf. 

“I guess I’ll have to make it up to you then,” James purred, reaching out for Sirius with hunger in his eyes.
