Which makes sense as it’s the one with every pairing under the sun in it :,) My second ever Haikyuu fic !! Though I’ve come a long way with my writing and characterisation over this year I am still proud of this one and all the Karasuno Shenanigans it contains hehe

Man is it conceited to say it’s SO hard to pick ?? I’ve had so much fun writing for Haikyuu this year… I’m gonna cheat and say two because the first one is smut:

Grapes from the Vine - my first smut fic and the softest Ukatake I could muster (which is very soft) I am so proud of this I really got to lean into a more poetic writing style and it cemented my Takeda characterisation which I am SO happy with :,,)

kea anon here to say that i’ve only read 1/16 of the fic (i’ve been busy orz) but i love it already. the dialogue flows nicely—and the man at the door… that’s… that’s keiji isn’t he?? i can’t wait to find out. although you said yachi is ooc, i feel the way you’ve written her is how she would turn out if she became a con person. i don’t know how to put it into words proper but i’ll do my best. the signature of yachi is that she’s always nervous. you’ve somehow managed to keep that essence of her by bringing in tanka’s sister (i forgot her name). comparing the two, yachi feels restless. her snappy dialogue, her quick actions, and even when she’s careful (as con man need to be), she’s also… not? like, again, something about the way you write her retains that core—her nervousness, and i can tell she’s really just doing this because she’s desperate.

because of her nervousness, she tends to idolise those who aren’t, and basically, to me, she idolises people easily. slipping in that tidbit between her and haikyuu managed (i forgot her name) was genius in showcasing that.

so far, i’m not that deep to give an impression of reader, but from description alone, she acts like such a boss AND she also is so sly??? because instead of chasing yachi away when she followed reader, she even let her into the house, and coincidentally (which is too coincidentally), she was there when yachi needed an out from the police. when i first read yachi getting caught, i initially thought that reader bailed her since she’s aware of yachi’s true nature, so i was surprised reader helped her and had this… unsettling feeling in my gut. like. reader is definitely the one with control here. yachi is like a prey walking into a trap.

Which top 3 haikyuu!! characters do you ship yourself with? Which top 3 haikyuu!! Characters do you think would be your besties? How long have you been writing fanfic and what got you into writing fanfic for anime?

Thank you for the ask Kat and giving me ANOTHER chance to scream about haikyuu lmao.

1. My self-ships are with Kuroo, Samu, and, begrudgingly, Oikawa lmao.

I think if I met Kuroo in high school, we would have been pals as chemistry nerds lol. Stoichiometry was my jam in grade 11 🤓 also, he's very good looking and surprisingly sincere despite how he comes off. 11/10 husband material.

I ship myself with Osamu because I love food 😅 Also, I just really relate to being the overlooked sibling. We would commiserate together.

I could see myself being an anti-fan for Oikawa lmao. Like why are all these girls simping? But then I see him and it all makes sense lmao. Also, I have to admire the sheer determination for him to move from his home to a foreign country and chase his dreams there. As an immigrant who moved at a very young age, I think he's very relatable lol.

2. My HQ besties would be Yams, Suga, and Kenma.

Yams and I would be each other's hype person when the anxiety and the big sad kick in. Like yes bestie, you can do it! Also bestie, please practice self care.

Suga and I would have some barely concealed crackhead energy together. Something happened? Definitely wasn't us 👀

Kenma and I would play on the Switch together. He'd try to teach me different games but I'm only interested in Pokemon, Dragon Age, and The Sims. Kuroo thanks me for taking Kenma out to enjoy the sunshine but really we were just running around playing Pokemon Go on our phones.

3. I've just recently started getting back into writing in general! I've been in school so long that my focus on writing has been with academia so being able to write fanfic has been really freeing. Confession time: when I was in grade 4, I used to write fanfic for Disney shows like Wizards of Waverly Place and Sonny With A Chance lmao 😅

I started writing for HQ bc I wanted to flesh out some truly self-indulgent ideas.
