nanami kento comes home from a particularly exhausting day with his aching shoulders slightly slumped and his feet dragging as he unlocks the front door, announcing his arrival.

“i'm home,” he half-sighs, half-calls out, slipping out of his shoes and setting his bag down on the table in the front hall.

“in here, kento.”

even hearing the sound of your voice, nanami feels the disarraying thunderclouds in his mind beginning to clear, letting his feet lead him to the living room in search of his solace.

sure enough, in the living room he finds you — lying on the couch with your head supported by a pillow on one end and your legs comfortably stretched out on the other, your favorite throw blanket draped over you. you're struggling to keep your eyes open, riddled with a sleepy haze, but you can make out the sight of your husband anywhere, and you immediately reach your arms out to him, beckoning him over with grabby hands.

and who was he to deny you? in no time at all, he crosses the room in two large steps, an easy feat for his long legs. he dips down to the couch, his large arms caging your figure as he supports himself above you. you automatically shift your legs so he can settle his knees in between them, taking care not to crush you under his weight. there are no words exchanged as you snake your arms around his neck and gently pull him into a kiss to which he eagerly complies. nanami groans into your lips when he feels your fingers carding through his hair, tugging with just enough pressure to release the tension that resides in his bones.

when he pulls away, he finally lowers himself onto you, taking care to make sure he's not crushing you, and fully lets himself rest on top of you like a weighted blanket. his arms close around your middle, head resting on your chest right where your heart is. he hums appreciatively when your fingers continue their ministrations, brushing back his blond strands while your other hand rests on his back.

the silence that washes over the room is strangely soothing, with the only sounds you're able to hear being the continuous whirring of the ceiling fan and the monotonous ticking of the wall clock hung on the other side of the room. with every second that passes, nanami feels his eyelids getting heavier as his one by one, he allows his taut muscles to relax, reminding himself he is safe in your arms, that everything is okay as long as he has you by his side.

“kento.” even though you're alone in the room, your voice is barely louder than a whisper.

“yes, darling?”

“dinner's ready at the table, if you're hungry.”

“in a minute, darling,” his voice is soft, almost pleading, “let me stay here for a little bit longer.”

he's grateful for you, he thinks, grateful for the way you indulge his wishes, but as much as he wants to, he knows he can't keep you on the couch all night - you need to eat dinner, after all. though if he had his way, nanami would love to stay here forever, vulnerably blissed out in the arms of his beloved where he is free to let his mind wander far away from any of his woes, and where he knows he is truly home.

each of the thieves’ perfect/alternate… third semester realities are so interesting. like… what it suggests about them that that is what they wanted and consider a perfect (or happier) reality. and then the question of how they feel living in that reality after remembering the truth and until they dismantle it. like… half of the cast (makoto, haru, futaba) is living with dead relatives. ryuji is back in the club that he (kinda not really) ruined and was practically ostracized from. ann has her best friend back, both of them completely clean of the trauma inflicted by kamoshida. yusuke- fucking yusuke’s third semester reality is the most fascinating to me- his perfect reality is one where is mother is still dead and he’s still student under a much… generally better version of madarame- holy SHIT theres so much to unpack about yusuke’s reality
