new dynamic just dropped: character who involuntarily exudes depressing magic when their mental health drops, subconsciously driving others away from them vs character who is immune to magic getting in close to comfort them

I'd love to know a little more about the Nature Offers a Violence WIP <3
of course beloved! let’s have a lil’ chat, step into my office.
i’d been pondering a royalty/viking concept for our steve and eventually settled on the idea that reader would be the daughter of the lord of the hall and steve would be her ridarri or knight. i posted the prologue before my hiatus and then kind of… fell off i guess? so it goes.
the basic premise is, you’ve come of age and your father (Hopper, because he’s basically a Viking already, like COME ON) has been in negotiations with your suitors. steve, as you can imagine, is a grump about it because he’s somehow managed to fall in love with you over the years, and steadfastly disagrees with Hop’s choice of husband for you. our snippet picks up where this excerpt left off.
That gives you pause. Dissatisfaction… of what kind? You scrub a hand against your temple, “Speak plainly, the hour grows late.”
“Very well then,” Steve says turning to face you. “I have head tell that a reason that Leif has yet to wed once more,” he tries and fails to quell the smirk forming on his lips, “Is because the ladies have been unable to enjoy him.”
With wide eyes, you distill in the information. “This is to say they are wanting after their talks?”
“Unsatisfied, I’d wager.”
Well, that certainly is news.
“And,” he adds, voice barley above a whisper, “I know you aren’t one for talks out of wedlock.”
“Well,” you begin to say in your defense, “How does one presume to talk with the Chieftain’s daughter and expect to walk away with his life in tact?”
He shrugs with a casual grace, “Remains to be seen.”
The logs of the fire emit a loud crack in the otherwise silent room.
“But, there’s a bargain for you, should you not want to go to your marriage bed unsatisfied.” He makes no move to leave you, nor does he make a move closer toward you. “Lie with me, if you wish,” he offers bluntly, “I swore to protect you, allow me the courtesy of giving you a choice.”
“I doubt this is what the riddari oath entails,” you say, worrying your lip between your teeth. “Let me think on it.”

"people show their true colours in life threatening situations" no, they show you what they act like when they're mortally terrified, an emotion notorious for literally turning your entire brain off to the point where people who go into those situations as a profession need to be literally trained on how to not have that happen
