I might be ~quirky~ for this (welcome to my twisted mind and etc) but I genuinely have so much fun with shipping nowadays, ever since I chose to be singleship for each muse. I feel like my adhd has never allowed me to pour even half as much care and attention into a ship as I'd have loved to when I had multiple ones at the same time per muse, so being able to focus on a single romantic dynamic per muse really feels like a weight off my shoulders

With that being said-- how do people feel about a "permanent" inbox call post? Just for my own reassurance so I don't feel like I'm bothering people but don't wanna like... constantly make a new inbox call post. Basically just a list of people commenting below a post, one that maybe specifies whether people prefer random IC interactions or want asks leaning more to IC questions/ooc headcanons stuff?

I know it's silly because if we're mutuals, we shouldn't be afraid to reach out to each other, BUT !! I also know some people do not like random asks, so... it would just be for the sake of... "You have permission to send random things whenever you feel like it" but of course it's not like I'm expecting you to answer things immediately after I send them either.

But yeah, just a thought! If it seems too silly I'll just keep making individual posts each time ♡ c':

Hi, I do art breakdowns on disco for people all the time so we're dragging one out and doing it here today.

What you're seeing is Toning, Lighting, and Time of Day.

Every picture I eye dropped the lightest shade of Kumo's skin and hair and then colored them around it so you could see how different they all are.

The trick is, if you look all the environmentals away left them down to their base flat colors EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM would look like this:

Because I function in PALETTES.

My characters Kumo, OCs, Kaze, Commissions or otherwise are all saved with PALETTES and they are all colored in base tone with the EXACT same colors EVERY time.

This is the power of lighting, toning, shadows, and time of day.

This is what I meant by small tricks. They really aren't small and they are quite influential and environment changing but they aren't something your eye just screams "omg thats the thing" and picks up because nature doesn't work like that. You don't look at the world and think about how everything looks more orange and pink in a sunset because the light picks up a color as the sun sets.

You just think that sunset is fucking pretty and the color of your skin doesn't change as the sunsets, it just looks like it does because the color of the lighting toned your skin. You don't change, the lighting does.

Thus we work in PALETTES.

Let me explain toning with a different picture.

the picture is done, complete. It is lit and toned.

Let's take it all away.

See what happens now that I took the lighting and the toning away? It doesn't feel anywhere near as tense and it doesn't feel as cold. Cold in the human brain makes us think things a much more urgent btw because we are not built to be in it.

So we bring the toning back but not the light.

Still not as tense! The urgency isnt quite there anymore. Doesn't quite feel as desperate.

Back to finished! There's light again and it's this lingering light in the corner with no source so its a tension and anticipation of where it's coming from. It gives you the lingering thought of who is he talking to and you can't see the other person in the room but you know there is one.

The TONING makes it cold so it feels a little more tense because cold is like a ticking time clock on how much the body can handle so cold, dark colors give our brains that sense of danger.

LIGHTING AND TONING!!

And even this picture started as a PALETTE in base shades. Kumo's coloring doesn't change. His environment does.
