NPC  RELATIONSHIPS :

* I’ll probably update this list & write a better one later but for now these are npc relationships & dynamics Harry has with existing characters of the franchise & are personal headcanons. I am open to them being amended in roleplay interactions but these will be the default for my Harry.

SMEE :  Harry’s relationship with Mr. Smee is complicated. Smee made at least some efforts to keep Harry ( and his sisters ) out of harms way when it came to their interactions with their father but James Hook has always been a man that has needed Smee’s help in managing his mood swings and that meant that Smee usually exerted all of his energies, and attention on managing Hook. This at the very least is why Harry respect’s Smee. Smee is also the one responsible for teaching him the majority of his skills aboard a ship and his deck hand duties, as well as how to draw, tattoo, sing, etc. Smee is the only adult Harry has a reasonably close relationship with, and the only senior man that Harry is willing to listen to or go to for help as far as education but even then Smee walks a very fine and perilous line. For example, when Harry killed his father he still hesitated over whether or not he should kill Smee as well and Smee actually needed to convince him that he was an asset he couldn’t afford to lose.

SMEE TWINS :  Harry has a soft spot for the twins and he does care about their health and welfare but doesn’t like to socialize with the twins personally unless he’s teaching them something. Harry has taught them how to pick locks and pockets, how to use each other and their surroundings to escape or hide from danger, how to climb and freerun across the wharf district and has taught them the basics of boxing and self-defense. Harry intends to teach them how to swordfight once they’re a little older. The reason why Harry doesn’t like to simply hang out or babysit the twins, is because he doesn’t consider himself a safe person for the twins to be around and worries that he will scare, traumatize or put the twins in danger just by being himself. While the twins like Harry well enough, they’re still very intimidated and somewhat afraid of him, regarding him more like a guardian monster than a friend, brother-figure, mentor, or protector.

DIZZY :  After the Coronation Riots, the Tremaine business Curl Up & Dye fell within Uma’s expanded territory. In return for protection fees, Uma and the crew would protect not only the business from thieves, thugs, and other seedy individuals, but Dizzy and Lady Tremaine as well. Harry lead the collections and that is how he came into regular contact with Dizzy. Due to Dizzy’s close relationships with Evie and Mal however, Harry was cold towards her and something of a bully. Despite not treating Dizzy particularly favorably, Harry still protected her and Lady Tremaine from threats and during the Cotillion Riots he had them escorted safely to Ursula’s chipp shopp. Dizzy doesn’t like him at all and while she might appreciate the fact that he’s kept her from getting killed or hurt, she knows that the only reason he has done so is because she and her grandmother pay him protection fees.

CELIA :  Uma and Celia had an extremely close relationship and as such, Harry has a soft spot for the tarot reading psychic. Like the Smee twins, if Harry does interact with Celia, he’s somewhat friendly and is willing to amuse her well enough as long as it doesn’t interfere with his work and will regularly engage in friendly bullying or teasing when she’s around. After Uma escaped the barrier and was trapped in Auradon, Harry made it a point to keep a closer eye on Celia and her father’s business than others, keeping any major threats or dangers away from them but like with the Smee twins, Harry tries to keep his distance when he can. Celia is aware of Harry’s soft spot for her and has taken advantage of it on several occasions, she knows how to toe the line without overstepping boundaries and heeds his warnings when Harry does tell her that she’s walking on thin ice. Their relationship got somewhat closer when Harry climbed the tower to snatch her out of Audrey’s grasp while Mal and Uma distracted her, but they both know that he only did so because she was close with Uma.

JASPER  &  HORACE :  Harry has an extremely antagonistic and hostile relationship with Cruella’s henchmen ever since they locked him in the stocks as a young boy. Whenever their paths cross, Harry has a tendency to go out of his way to ruin their day. This could be through petty means like stealing their belongings, interfering with whatever errands they’re running, or beating Jasper at darts, but on a bad day Harry can be extremely aggressive, goading or provoking them into fights and publicly hurting or humiliating them. Harry takes a sadistic joy in ruining their lives whenever he can and generally has to get talked into leaving them alone by either Uma or Gil, or distracted by other members of the crew or people Harry is close to with something more interesting or satisfying or else he’ll continue tormenting them until he gets bored.

Harry is pushing eight inches, 7.78 inches (19cm give or take) in length when erect, to be exact with an impressive girth, it is also slightly curved. His partners are going to be stuffed.

Harry having a bigger-than-average penis means that he's made a point of figuring out how to make his partners as comfortable as possible, while still being able to dominate and enjoy himself as well. Harry will spend the time preparing his partners when both parties are interested in penetrative sex, meaning that when he is able to he spends a lot of time on foreplay and will make it a point and an active effort to bring his partners to orgasm more that a few times before engaging in penetrative sex.

If his partners aren't capable of multiple orgasms in a shortened amount of time, he'll typically edge his partners until they're a mess before penetrating. Given that Harry has a long history of sexual experience and that he still approaches sex very casually and openly, he does carry both lube and condoms on his person. WARDROBE  HEADCANON :  formal  wear

Contrary to popular belief, the Isle did host formal events though not to the extent of Auradon’s royalty. The opening of businesses, yearly celebrations, costume parties or soirees. These events were usually hosted by either one of the first generation prisoners, such as Maleficent, Gaston, Shan Yu, or on the occasion even Captain Hook, but several second generation factions would also host events, sometimes to lure enemies out into the open, to negotiate trade meetings or truces, or less business related functions like birthday’s, victory celebrations, anniversaries and the such. While these events were formalized, it wasn’t typically a requirement to dress formally.

As such, before the barrier came down, Harry’s dress attire for such events, while somewhat tidier or cleaner, were still heavily inspired by his usual garbage punk aesthetic of appearing patchy, worn or torn up, but were combined with British military or aristocrat aesthetics from the 17th and 18th centuries, as far as his style of jacket, coat or cape went.

Once the barrier is brought down and Uma begins attending court, Harry is forced to rub shoulders with more of Auradon’s high society and is encouraged to dress more to the occasion. Harry integrates more formal wear into his wardrobe in the shape of three piece suits, button down dress shirts or flowing tunics, and tidy slacks. Harry makes a point to find suits, ties and vests that are embroidered with accented patterns of various designs, though he leans predictably towards skulls or bones, and solely purchases his clothes from the Isle.

He accessorizes with rings or leather band necklaces and conceals an assortment of small knives and picking tools into his clothing when weapons are banned at the doors of formal events. Harry typically modifies his coats with military buttons and studded spikes and it’s not unexpected for Harry to abandon his coats and jackets in favor for his vests when mingling as they’re easier to move in.

Like his usual wardrobe, Harry keeps primarily to his trademark colour scheme of red and black or black and red, broken up only by neutral whites and grays. However, depending on the theme or on how Uma’s dressed, Harry has been seen in teals, blues, purples or silvers, though these colour schemes are not seen very often.

HEADCANON :  swordsmanship

Harry had no formal training in regards to his swordsmanship and hand-to-hand skills and effectively learned how to defend himself and fight through trial and error. He would most notably fight against members of his fathers crew, pirates and former naval sailors, learning through fighting and losing against these men as a means of getting better, and he did get better. By the time Harry turned sixteen, he was able to defeat every member of the Jolly Roger’s crew in single combat and by the time he was seventeen he was able to fend off at least three opponents easily.

Harry’s form of swordsmanship uses the trademark cutlass of a pirating crew. The techniques that Harry utilizes in his fighting style is intensely aggressive and extremely overwhelming against single opponents as it’s primary defense is an extremely pressing onslaught of attacks and relies solely upon power and speed. The continuous onslaught of attacks makes it extremely difficult for his opponents to break through his guard as Harry consistently presses them into defense unless they’re willing to sacrifice a limb to get to him. For defense, Harry uses his hook to parry, counter and disarm his enemies, a strategy that can be very disconcerting to his enemies as the hook is just as lethal and dangerous as his sword.

Harry has a reputation of fighting as if he is possessed due to the wild, acrobatic and ferocity of his sword form, he is completely focused on the destruction of his enemy and is not above sacrificing his own body in order to land direct and lethal hits. The pure unfiltered aggression of his fighting style can be very intimidating, sometimes even when Harry is losing a fight he is able to scare his enemies into submission from the sheer overwhelming ferocity of his fighting style.

However, Harry’s sword form does have its weaknesses and drawbacks. Harry’s style of constant overwhelming offense can be very exhausting as it requires that he exert massive amounts of energy all at once and continuously. The longer the duel or fight goes on, the more exhausted Harry will become, causing him to sacrifice accuracy and speed and resort to powerful single-handed blows that leave him open to injury. While Harry is an extremely fit and athletic person, constant exertion will inevitably wear him down.

His defense without his hook is also fairly mediocre due to Harry’s focus on offensive techniques, his hook also lacks the reach that a second sword would have, meaning that his opponents strikes and attacks are often blocked or parried very close to his body leaving Harry little time to defend. While Harry’s reflexes are incredibly sharp and quick, when he gets tired this proximity becomes a problem.

Harry’s style is better suited towards single opponents as when outnumbered he tires more easily. That being said, the strength to Harry’s style is it’s aggression. Even outnumbered he will still make each and every single one of his attackers pay for it.

Following the Cotillion Riots, Harry recognizes the weaknesses in his sword form and elects to focus more time on his defense. It is an incredibly difficult task as patience has never been a trait that Harry has used and he is very comfortable in his sword fighting form. However, over time, Harry’s defense and ability to wait for his opponents to move and strike in order to implement far more critical counters grows and with it Harry’s precision. By the time Harry and Gil escape the Isle’s barrier, Harry’s combat prowess has grown exponentially and holds a far greater ability in defense than ever before.

HEADCANON : functional  illiteracy

While not completely illiterate, Harry’s ability in reading and writing prior to the barrier’s removal was incredibly inadequate. He was unable to read or write simple sentences and at best, had the literacy skill of a three year old. Harry’s inability to read or write was a direct result of being withheld from participating in school at a young age and instead being used as the Jolly Roger’s deckhand as many of the crew deemed education on the Isle as a waste of time. This belief became rooted in Harry’s own value system that persisted as he got older. Once his peers and classmates had excelled past his own reading and writing level, Harry stopped trying  to learn altogether and focused primarily on physical skills that would make him a good athlete.

Once Harry joined Uma and the crew, he relied mostly upon them to do his reading and writing for him and while Harry did pick up some skill as far as the alphabet and single or duo phrases, he still struggled immensely with his literacy.

It’s only after the removal of the barrier that Harry began to make an effort to develop his literary skills. Rather than enroll into school however he received private tutoring sessions from Smee and got help from Uma with his literacy studies. As of his father’s death, Harry has the literacy skills of a fourteen year old.

HEADCANON :  dyscalculia

Unlike Harry’s poor literacy skills, Harry’s struggles with math and numbers is a disability. He has difficulty with mental math, trouble analyzing time and reading an analog clock, struggles with motor sequencing that involves numbers and often has to count on his fingers when adding or subtracting. He cannot visualize numbers and usually perceives them as nonsense symbols rather than actual characters for mathematics. He’ll sometimes perceive one number as interchangeable with another such as 3′s and 5′s, has a hard time remembering the names of numbers, can’t tell which numbers are larger than others when side by side and sometimes even perceives numbers shifting or changing colours if he looks at them for too long.

Harry’s dyscalculia is undiagnosed and his lack of skill in mathematics was never addressed by the Isle’s educational system. Smee attempted to teach Harry basic math growing up as the skill was useful even for a deckhand aboard a sailing ship but Harry struggled so much and often experienced aggressive outbursts due to his confusion and inability that Smee stopped trying. Rather than using mathematical skills / solutions / practices, Harry relied on memorizing patterns, visuals, rhythms, and intuition. His spatial awareness meant that he was able to gage the passage of time by monitoring shadow and light patterns, he could time and predict actions or responses from opponents during fights based of sound rhythm, body language, and facial expressions and otherwise improvised and adapted other means to make up for lack of numeracy.

Similarly to his literacy, Harry made an effort to develop his numeracy once the barrier had fallen, being tutored by Smee and getting help from Uma and other members of the crew that were proficient with math. He still has relatively poor numeracy skills but has gotten a lot better since the barriers fall.

OTHER BITS: so, harry has a scottish accent. his mother is scottish, but i headcanon that there was a significant number of scottish crewmembers on the jolly roger, as well as within the sailing community on the isle (this would include pirates, but also sailors, smugglers, slavers and former conscripted navy turned deserters) that harry interacted with regularly throughout his life which is why he never lost his accent growing up but eventually that melting pot of different scottish dialects has merged into a specific isle scottish accent.

serpent prep was a school that was based further inland and a lot of the children in the sailing community weren’t sent to school, rather they were raised aboard shipwrecks, forced to do manual labor for their parents/crews so when harry started school most of the other students were from other districts and neighborhoods and he got bullied for his accent (this is a personal headcanon i came up with based solely on his reaction to evie saying “Great accent”, it looked like he didn’t get that kind of compliment a lot so i wanted to give a reason behind it). so, because of the bullying and because he ran with a lot of people who didn’t have the accent, harry learned to soften his accent, make it more intelligible to people who didn’t grow up around it which is why it’s not as strong.

get him in a room with his sisters, or with the kids he grew up with on the jolly roger, and harry’s accent grows thicker and stronger.

VOICE CLAIM REFERENCE: descendants and high fidelity is where i get harry’s voice/tone from the most. in descendants he has that rough, mocking edge while still keeping that kind of higher pitched smoothness to it that i like. he switches between a softer tone and a harsher one quite easily while still being very natural, he can talk loudly, quietly, at room level without losing the tone.

in high fidelity his tone is very soft, more than it ever is in descendants, it also has a velvety feel to it, he talks quite smoothly and quite gently. this is typically how he sounds when he’s flirting, when he’s being romantic, devoted or just softly caring in general. it’s reserved for his significant others or in situations with his family and close friends when he’s being soft/caring/nicer than usual.

there was also a video of doherty yelling out of a hotel window to a friend down the street that always cracks me up because the accent jumps out but i can’t find it lmao

Harry is a HR400 model released by CyberLife to Eden Club in 2036 where he began to show signs of high apperception and perception skills which then manager John Ratcliffe noted allowed him to improvise and adapt to external stimulation far more efficiently than the other HR400 and WR400 models. Ratcliffe later filed a formal complaint with the accusation that Harry was “manipulative and conniving”.

While Harry's memory was wiped every two hours during active duty, he was able to recall interactions and learned behaviors through external stimulation and sensational recollection which led to Harry becoming one of the club's most frequently rented machines.

Harry didn't become a Deviant until early April 2038, when he killed Ratcliffe. Over the years since Harry's arrival to the Eden Club, Ratcliffe became increasingly obsessed with the WR400 and HR400 models, verbally and physically abusing them whenever they weren't on display or with clients. When Ratcliffe ordered Harry to assault a fellow WR400, Harry refused and went against his original programming in order to turn on Ratcliffe, inflicting massive trauma before finally killing him.

While Harry was able to conceal Ratcliffe's death by disposing of his body, uniformed officers were eventually dispatched to investigate his missing person's report leading to Harry being forced to flee from the Eden Club. While on the streets, Harry is told about Zlatko Andronikov, a man who supposedly can aid Deviants in finding safe harbor. Harry is suspicious at first, jaded from his time at the Eden Club, but ultimately is convinced to enter Zlatko's residence upon seeing Luther.

Harry is forcibly reset by Zlatko and an unwilling Luther, and over a period of two months, Harry is subject to several of Zlatko's horrendous experiments until the arrival of man called James Hook, who purchases him.

James Hook is a man involved in the underground but highly profitable Droid Ring, a community of technicians, engineers, and civilians that host fighting tournaments between heavily modified androids. James pays Zlatko to modify Harry with recycled parts from an SQ800, a pair of retractable swords within his endoskeleton and a customized pair of optical processors.

Harry has been in James Hook's possession for three months and has lost only three fights. He has managed to become a Deviant again since Zlatko's reset but cares deeply for the ET300 and CJ400 unit's in James Hook's possession and isn't willing to leave on his own without them, or the other fighters of the Droid Ring.

Before  James  Bartholomew  Hook,  there  was  James  Bartholomew  Wolfe,  oldest  brother  to  Gideon  Wolfe  and  heir  to  the  Wolfe  fortune  until  this  wayward  son  abandoned  his  station  in  favor  of  traipsing  across  the  globe.  James  Wolfe  vanished  and  in  his  place,  James  Hook  was  born,  a  nefarious  villain  that  answered  only  to  his  own  deviant  desires.  Eventually,  his  disappearance  led  to  his  brother,  Gideon,  inheriting  the  fortune  of  the  Wolfe  family  and  with  it,  the  inheritance  and  responsibilities  of  a  legacy  and  still  James  Hook  remained  a  phantom  only  murmured  about  among  unpleasant  company.

One  day,  James  Hook  reached  out ��to  his  estranged  brother  as  the  law  closed  in  around  him  and  a  deal  was  struck.  In  return  for  a  biological  Wolfe  child,  Gideon  would  bend  justice  to  the  will  of  the  Wolfe  family  and  have  James  Hook  freed.  James  Hook  agreed,  and  within  a  year,  presented  Gideon  and  Ray  Wolfe  with  a  new  born  son.

Maximus  was  raised  on  the  upper  east  side  of  New  York,  Manhattan,  the  beautiful  and  cherished  son  of  Gideon  and  Ray  Wolfe,  and  Harry  was  raised  in  Edinburgh,  Scotland  alongside  two  half-sisters,  Harriet  and  Calista  Jane.  The  twins'  upbringing  could  not  have  been  more  different,  or  further  away  from  each  other,  while  James  Hook  was  a  wealthy  and  established  man  within  his  circle  of  dangerous  men  and  women,  his  children  were  forced  to  fight  for  everything  and  anything  they  had.

At  fourteen,  the  Hook  family  moved  into  Downtown  Atlanta  following  one  of  their  fathers  biggest  schemes.  Here,  Harry  encountered  Uma  and  was  recruited  into  a  small  and  up-and-coming  street  crew.  His  early  life  and  adolescence  revolved  around  crime,  both  petty  and  generous,  amateur  and  professional,  until  he  was  arrested  at  fifteen  years  and  placed  within  Juvenile  Detention  for  two  years  following  a  violent  confrontation  with  his  father.

As  Harry’s  end  of  term  drew  near,  Harriet  Hook,  the  eldest  of  the  Hook  siblings  was  unable  to  have  Harry  released  into  her  care  alongside  their  youngest  sister  Calista  Jane,  since  their  father  had  abandoned  them  two  years  prior.  With  no  one  else  to  turn  to,  and  the  threat  of  Harry  being  released  into  the  foster  system,  Harriet  reached  out  to  Gideon  Wolfe.

Harry  Hook  has  since  arrived  in  New  York  City,  Manhattan  to  finish  his  final  year  of  high  school  at  St.  Judes  under  the  temporary  care  of  Gideon  and  Ray  Wolfe.  However,  it  is  clear  enough  upon  his  first  day  in  the  city,  that  Harry  has  no  interest  in  the  Wolfe  name  or  the  high  society  of  Constance  Billard  and  St.  Jude’s  elite  and  his  colourful  background  sees  him  constantly  at  odds  with  the  new  world  and  new  people  around  him.

𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐄  𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍:  halloween  costume .

There  wasn't  a  lot  that  Harry  had  to  trade  or  buy  for  his  costume,  instead  picking  items  of  his  wardrobe  that  he  already  owned  and  altering  them  slightly  for  his  purposes.  Dressing  in  a  couples  costume  with  Jane  ( @janefaery ),  he  chose  to  keep  to  blacks  and  golds.  Matching  a  black  leather  coat  with  one  of  his  black  tunics  and  a  black  vest,  some  worn  and  patched  black  jeans  and  a  pair  of  his  black  combat  boots  that  had  various  golden  accents  on  the  buckles  and  zips.  He  accessorized  with  his  trademark  skull  rings  on  both  hands  and  a  stack  of  various  necklaces  such  as  his  obsidian  arrow  head,  an  anchor,  a  row  of  crocodile  teeth  and  as  usual  Jane's  promise  ring.

The  only  thing  he  had  to  trade  for  was  the  skull  mask.  He  traded  a  jar  of  boiled  eggs  and  a  hunters  knife  for  one  of  Gaston's  old  wolf  trophies  from  Gaston  III,  stripping,  cleaning  and  bleaching  it  himself  before  coating  it  in  clear  polyurethane.  He  drilled  a  couple  of  holes  in  the  skull  and  tied  and  laced  a  leather  harness  to  it  and  sewed  some  comfort  pads  into  the  inside  of  the  skull  so  that  it  would  sit  comfortably  on  his  head  and  face.  Finally,  Harry  purchased  a  couple  of  pairs  of  fake  canine  teeth,  fashioning  them  over  his  own  upper  canines  and  adding  a  lower  set  of  canines  as  well  to  finish  his  costume.

On  the  night,  he'll  cover  his  lids  in  kohl  so  his  eyes  stand  out  more  from  behind  the  wolf  skull  and  will  carry  his  usual  arsenal  of  knives,  cutlass,  and  hook  strapped  to  his  belt  or  tucked  within  hidden  pockets.

𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄  𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂  𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒  :  g.rishaverse  .

The  Jolly  Roger  has  plagued  the  True  Sea  for  decades.  Targeting  merchant  ships,  slavers,  smugglers  and  ships  belonging  to  the  Fjerda,  Ravka  and  Shu  Han  armies  indiscriminantly.  The  notoriety  of  the  Jolly  Roger  pales  only  in  comparison  to  its  Captain.  Rumor  and  ghost  stories  tell  of  a  Captain  that  is  eight  feet  tall  with  burning  red  eyes  and  a  hook  for  a  hand.  Once  flying  a  flag  of  a  skull  with  two  crossed  cutlasses,  now  the  Jolly  Roger  flies  a  different  flag,  a  skull  with  a  hook  through  its  gapping  maw.

Harry's  earliest  memories  are  of  his  life  aboard  the  Jolly  Roger.  Scrubbing  the  deck,  tying  the  rope  knots  of  the  ratlines,  and  harnesses  and  running  flint,  gunpowder  and  cannons  to  crew  members  through  sea  battles,  sieges  and  coastal  attacks.  Sailing  is  and  has  always  been  in  his  blood.  He  was  a  young  boy  when  his  father,  James  Hook,  discovered  that  he  was  grisha,  an  inferni  with  the  ability  over  heat,  flame  and  fire.  James  Hook  received  various  offers  from  various  parties  interested  in  purchasing  a  grisha  from  him  but  he  turned  them  down.  Instead  he  honed  Harry  into  a  weapon  of  intimidation  and  torture.

His  childhood  and  adolescence  was  violent,  painful,  and  dangerous  but  eventually,  he  met  a  girl.  After  a  violent  confrontation  with  his  father,  Harry  abandoned  the  Jolly  Roger  ship  and  joined  Uma's  crew  as  her  First  Mate  instead  aboard  a  ship  called  the  Lost  Revenge.  They  sailed  the  True  Sea,  attacking  merchant  ships  and  earning  their  keep  through  violence  and  raiding  until  an  opportunity  for  a  Shu  Han  ship  weighed  with  gold  brought  them  head-to-head  against  the  Jolly  Roger.

In  the  sea  battle,  Harry  struck  James  Hook  down  and  in  the  aftermath,  took  the  captaincy.  He  has  been  sailing  the  Jolly  Roger  as  Captain  Hook  ever  since.

Harry  has  several  allies  and  alliances  with  a  handful  of  fellow  pirates  and  smugglers,  and  has  a  network  of  informats  that  he  buys  information  from  of  possible  targets.  No  one  knows  where  he  and  his  crew  dock  their  ship  when  they  are  not  raiding,  though  there  are  rumors  of  a  pirate  island  somewhere  near  Kerch.  His  crew  is  made  up  of  both  grisha  and  non-grisha  alike,  though  Harry  encourages  his  crew  to  train  it  as  they  woudl  any  other  weapon  in  their  arsenal  rather  than  rely  solely  upon  their  powers.

it’s  sexual  sunday  so  here’s  a  list  of  harry’s  sensitive  spots  that  you  don’t  know :

i’ve  been  thinking  about  telepathy  and  i  think  that  someone  like  harry  would  be  a  difficult  read  for  any  telepathic  who’s  just  brushing  through  minds  because  his  thoughts  and  feelings  are  so  loud.

harry  is  always  unconsciously  projecting  his  feelings  to  the  point  where  the  people  around  him  react  to  it,  it’s  a  very  charismatic  kind  of  projection  while  his  thoughts  are  very  immediate,  very  intense  at  any  given  time.  he  thinks,  he  feels,  he  feels,  he  thinks  and  a  lot  of  the  time  it’s  very  intense,  very  strong.  i  think  that  if  a  telepath  ever  just  brushed  through  his  mind  they’d  get  assaulted  by  ten  different  thought  patterns  and  emotions  that  are  constantly  shifting  and  that  it  would  be  pretty  disorientating  to  the  point  that  the  telepath  wouldn’t  want  to  read  whatever’s  going  on  in  there  because  it’s  so  much.

even  if  a  telepath  was  trying  to  figure  out  a  specific  thing,  or  find  a  specific  thing  in  his  mind,  they’d  have  to  dig  through  layers  of  shanty  music,  horniness,  anger / aggression,  violent  fantasies,  a  billion  memories  of  uma,  more  horniness,  and  the  constant  residual  emotional  feedback  of  his  resentment  and  fury.

*disclaimer:  i  don’t  know  how  canon  explained  or  described  how  harry  tried  to  feed  his  hand  to  tick-tock  but  this  is  my  personal  headcanon  about  it

Following  a  violent  confrontation  with  his  father  when  Harry  was  fourteen  years  old,  he  found  himself  hanging  over  the  side  of  one  of  the  Jolly  Roger’s  longboats  attempting  to  feed  his  own  left  hand  to  the  crocodile  Tick-Tock  that  had  been  trapped  on  the  Isle  alongside  his  father.  Tick-Tock  however  had  no  interest  in  Harry  and  ignored  him  completely  –  Harry  was  eventually  pulled  out  of  the  longboat  and  back  onto  the  docks  by  Gil  before  Tick-Tock’s  offspring  decided  to  take  their  chance  at  a  bite.

Distressed  and  clearly  aggravated,  Harry  lashed  out  at  Gil  for  stopping  him  and  stormed  away.  Harry  eventually  made  his  way  up  into  the  crows  nest  of  the  Lost  Revenge  where  he  took  a  knife  to  his  own  arm  and  attempted  to  saw  it  off  himself.  Harry  cut  through  most  of  the  muscles  of  his  arm  before  the  pain  and  blood  caused  him  to  lose  his  grip  on  his  knife  where  it  fell  over  the  edge  of  the  crows  nest  and  dropped  down  to  the  deck.  Due  to  the  damage  he  had  done  to  his  arm,  Harry  couldn’t  make  the  climb  back  down  without  losing  his  grip  so  he  had  to  wrap  his  own  arm  up  and  wait  until  he  regained  his  composure  enough  to  make  the  climb  one  handed.

Harry  made  a  laceration  that  spanned  as  a  complete  ring  around  his  forearm  two  inches  below  his  elbow.  He  almost  caused  irreparable  damage  to  the  motor  functions  in  his  left  hand  as  a  result  of  how  deeply  he  cut  and  had  he  gone  even  a  few  millimetres  deeper  there  would  have  been  no  fixing  it.

Noelani,  the  crew’s  surgeon,  was  so  deeply  affected  by  what  Harry  had  done  that  she  spent  the  majority  of  her  time  crying  and  scolding  him  as  she  stitched  the  injury  closed,  Harry  felt  so  guilty  he  promise  her  that  he  would  never  do  it  again.  It  took  six  weeks  for  Harry’s  arm  to  heal  enough  that  he  was  able  to  return  to  light  dock  duties  and  another  eight  before  he  was  able  to  return  to  heavy  dock  duties.  He  lost  feeling  in  his  left  pinky  and  ring  finger  though  they  are  both  still  fully  capable  of  moving  like  his  others.

Since  the  attempt,  Harry  has  a  visible  scar  that  spans  the  circumfrence  of  his  left  arm  two  inches  below  his  elbow.  The  scar  tissue  has  healed  to  an  off  white  shade  of  skin  protruding  from  his  arm  and  due  to  Noelani's  skill,  the  scar  is  fairly  neat  and  tidy.  Harry  doesn't  talk  about  the  scar  often,  and  has  a  difficult  time  addressing  why  he  done  it  to  himself  but  ultimately  the  night  he  tried  to  hack  off  his  own  limb,  is  the  same  night  Harry  stopped  wanting  Hook's  approval.
